After My Engagement Was Broken, I Married My Fiancé's Uncle - Chapter 20
Because of Jiang Hongyuan’s phone call, the touching tutoring session had to end early.
“Alright, that’s all for today.”
Jiang Xingyuan quickly packed his things, moving faster than a rabbit. Before leaving, he didn’t forget to thank Xie Junqing.
“Ninth Uncle, thank you for today. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Alright, see you tomorrow.”
Xie Junqing curved his eyes and smiled gently, watching Jiang Xingyuan’s back as he departed.
The moment he turned around, the smile on Xie Junqing’s face slowly faded. He looked at Su Quan, who had appeared out of nowhere, and asked, “Is everything ready?”
Su Quan stood respectfully to the side, eyes lowered. “Ninth Master, everything is prepared.”
Xie Junqing stood up and walked toward the inner room. A doctor was already waiting inside, with precision instruments laid out on a side table.
Once everything was set, the doctor spoke: “Ninth Master, to prevent nerve damage during this collection, we will not use anesthetics. It may be quite painful, you will need to endure it.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
After Xie Junqing removed his clothes, the “Scorpion Tail Lock” lurking on his spine was completely exposed to everyone’s sight.
The doctor took a long needle and entered the skin along the spine, cautiously piercing beneath the Scorpion Tail Lock.
However, sensing a foreign intrusion, the Scorpion Tail Lock instantly sprouted sharp appendages, embedding them into the flesh. The venomous tail hook also stabbed violently into his body.
Blood flowed slowly down his smooth back, gradually submerging the sacred Buddhist beads.
Xie Junqing’s body jerked violently. His face turned pale, and a metallic taste of blood instantly rushed to his throat.
Seeing Xie Junqing’s state, the operating doctor’s palms were drenched in sweat. He clearly felt significant resistance as the needle moved forward.
“I feel distinct resistance. Shall I force it through?”
Xie Junqing gritted his teeth against the pain and said, “Continue.”
By now, his forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He had come this far, there was no turning back. He could not be the Xie family’s beast of burden forever.
After the needle extracted a small amount of body fluid, it was quickly sealed and placed in cryogenic fluid for preservation.
When it was all over, Xie Junqing’s back was a bloody mess. He closed his eyes, letting them clean the blood from his back.
“When will the results be out?”
The doctor replied, “In a week and a half at the earliest, or about a month at the latest. Because we need to extract a massive amount of data for matching, it will take some time.”
Xie Junqing opened his eyes, his gaze sharp. “Su Quan, see him out.”
By the time Su Quan returned, Xie Junqing had already changed into a new set of clothes.
Su Quan said, “Ninth Master, you need to be extra careful these next few days. There seem to be rumors circulating outside.”
“The other branches are also making small moves. I’m afraid they might act against you if they find out.”
Hearing this, Xie Junqing’s eyes grew deep. A cold sneer curled at the corner of his mouth. “Ever since the news of the Old Master’s critical condition broke, which of them hasn’t been restless? Who among them doesn’t have selfish motives?”
“Even if they know, so what? I am a mortal, not a true Buddha. After eating vegetarian meals for so many years, it’s time for me to taste some meat.”
Because he had arrangements today, Jiang Xingyuan took a day off.
He woke up early to go to the Buddhist hall. Before his brain was even fully awake, he ran into an old rival.
“Good morning!” Jiang Xingyuan greeted Xie Chao, putting aside their past grudges.
When Xie Chao saw Jiang Xingyuan, he only slightly lifted an eyelid, snorted, and turned his head away, looking like he didn’t want to acknowledge him at all.
Seeing Xie Chao’s attitude, Jiang Xingyuan wasn’t angry; he was used to it.
They arrived early, so they were the only two in the entire hall. For some reason, Xie Junqing was not there yet.
Jiang Xingyuan flipped through his book but couldn’t focus at all. He turned to Xie Chao and said, “By the way, aren’t you going to the hospital with me to see your cousin?”
“Being this cold isn’t good, you know!”
“How is your relationship usually?”
Xie Chao seemed annoyed by Jiang Xingyuan’s chatter and slammed his book shut.
“What do you want?”
“I’m just chatting with you,” Jiang Xingyuan rubbed his nose.
Xie Chao let out a mocking sneer. “I suppose you don’t even know how Xie Huai ended up in the hospital, do you?”
“How did he get in?” Jiang Xingyuan asked without thinking.
“Heat, of course.”
Looking at the clueless Jiang Xingyuan, Xie Chao’s eyes filled with pity. “You care so much about him, yet he has never kept you in his heart. In his eyes, you aren’t even worthy of a temporary mark!”
Jiang Xingyuan froze for a moment upon hearing this, but quickly snapped out of it and gave an “oh.”
“Even so, are you still going to the hospital to see him?”
What happened at the Xie ancestral home yesterday was no longer a secret. Although everyone pretended not to know on the surface, they were all laughing at Jiang Xingyuan behind his back.
Before Jiang Xingyuan and Xie Huai were even married, his head was already covered in a “vibrant green” (cuckolded)!
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Xie Chao said maliciously, “Is it because….”
Before he could finish, he was interrupted by a sudden voice.
“Xie Chao, did you finish copying the scriptures from a few days ago?”
“Ninth Uncle.”
Xie Chao’s expression changed instantly, clearly, he hadn’t finished.
“Then why aren’t you properly studying your morning lessons? What were you doing just now?”
Xie Chao snapped his head toward Jiang Xingyuan. If it hadn’t been for the other guy pestering him, he wouldn’t have been criticized by Ninth Uncle.
Just as he was about to sell Jiang Xingyuan out, he turned and saw Jiang Xingyuan sitting perfectly upright and serious. Xie Chao’s eyes widened in shock.
“It’s one thing if you can’t settle your own mind, but do not disturb Xingyuan’s morning lessons.”
Xie Chao was completely stunned!
Was there some mistake?
What did he mean “don’t disturb Jiang Xingyuan”? It was Jiang Xingyuan who was disturbing him!
But he didn’t have the guts to question Xie Jiu (Ninth Master). He had no choice but to swallow his grievance.
The moment Xie Jiu appeared, Jiang Xingyuan had straightened his back. Even though he couldn’t understand a single word, he looked incredibly studious.
“Ninth Uncle.”
Jiang Xingyuan called out obediently, flashing a sweet smile. “You’re up so early!”
Hearing this, Xie Junqing wondered if the boy was being sarcastic.
“You’re up quite early too. How is your review of today’s morning lesson?”
“I reviewed what you taught me before, Ninth Uncle, and now I’m self-studying new content.”
“There’s one part I don’t quite understand. I was just about to ask you when you appeared. You and I really have a telepathic connection!”
“Which part? Bring it here and I’ll explain it to you.”
Hearing the response, Jiang Xingyuan couldn’t sit still any longer. He grabbed his book and scurried over.
That would have been one thing, but right before he got up, he made a face at Xie Chao, standing proudly by Xie Jiu’s side.
He seemed to be saying to Xie Chao. Look, Ninth Uncle might be your biological uncle, but he seems to like me more right now!
Xie Chao was fuming. This bastard Jiang Xingyuan only knew how to act cute in front of Ninth Uncle! At the same time, he felt stifled, it felt like he was competing for favor.
Xie Junqing saw all of Jiang Xingyuan’s little actions. He wasn’t angry, instead, he felt somewhat happy because of the boy’s little schemes. The methods of pleasing him were a bit clumsy, but the intention was satisfying.
After Jiang Xingyuan pestered him with questions for half an hour, Xie Junqing finally said, “Alright, that’s all for today.”
Xie Chao stood up abruptly and said respectfully, “Goodbye, Ninth Uncle.”
As he prepared to leave, he looked at Jiang Xingyuan, who was still staying in the hall, and couldn’t help but marvel at the boy’s acting skills! He secretly vowed that next time, he would not give Jiang Xingyuan any chance to frame him!
Jiang Xingyuan felt Xie Chao’s glare and found it a bit baffling. What a temper! He’s still holding onto something from half an hour ago.
“Wait until after the check-up to eat breakfast. Blood tests need to be done on an empty stomach,” Xie Junqing reminded him.
Jiang Xingyuan: “No problem, Ninth Uncle.”
He was just waiting for Xie Junqing to take him to the hospital. He was mostly happy to take advantage of the Xie family’s excellent medical resources. He also wanted to see what was really going on, it wasn’t that he didn’t trust Jiang Hongyuan, but people are treacherous these days. It’s better to be careful.
“Ninth Uncle, when do we leave?”
“In such a hurry?”
“Of course! Am I not worried about my health? I’m very timid. I’m scared to death of dying.”
Xie Junqing couldn’t help but chuckle. “A normal thought.”
Soon, Jiang Xingyuan was on a helicopter, and they quickly arrived at the landing pad on the hospital rooftop.
The moment they arrived, a group of doctors in white coats was already waiting. The scale of the reception was something Jiang Xingyuan would never forget. Dozens of doctors surrounded him, asking about everything from the onset of his symptoms to the timing, until his throat was dry.
“You’ve had surgery on your glands before, so we can’t rule out the possibility of a lesion. We have to wait for all the test results before making a final conclusion.”
“Then why can’t I smell my own pheromones? Before, even if it was faint, I could still smell it. I want you to check if there was any problem with that previous surgery.”
“Also, could the previous surgery be the reason my pheromone scent changed?”
Hearing this, the doctor said, “It is a possibility, but we are more concerned about organic lesions. Please be patient. Once the results are out, we will notify you immediately.”
After the consultation, the tests had to be done. Jiang Xingyuan was taken to have several vials of blood drawn and his pheromones sampled for analysis. All that was left was to wait.
Once he finished, he immediately ran back to Xie Junqing happily.
