Chapter 34: I want to sleep with you baby
What answered Chu Xi was an even more passionate kiss.
It was suffocating and breathless; Chu Xi could even feel Zhou Jinyan’s burgeoning emotions through this kiss. It was an unstoppable joy, fierce, as if trying to break through something or rather, a confirmation.
It was as if no matter whether the words were sincere, whether they were arsenic or honey, Jinyan would accept them all with pleasure.
Chu Xi said he only liked him.
Only me?
Jinyan’s tongue teased the roof of Chu Xi’s mouth. After the initial intense release of emotion, his movements gradually softened, carrying a sense of preciousness and caution.
After parting slightly, Jinyan cupped Chu Xi’s cheeks and gave his lips a little chu, his cold voice filled with satisfaction: “Baby, I love you so much…”
Chu Xi, still humming softly from the intensity of the kiss, replied without a second thought: “I love you so much too.”
The ten-minute kiss finally ended, and only then did Chu Xi realize they had kissed without brushing their teeth. He felt a brief moment of internal collapse, but since it had already happened, he decided it didn’t matter.
They would be doing much more intimate things in the future; one kiss like this was nothing.
Chu Xi helped smooth out Zhou Jinyan’s messy “bird’s nest” morning hair. “Alright, do you feel secure now, Gege?”
“Good morning kiss.” Chu Xi leaned in and kissed Jinyan’s forehead from his current position. “I love you a little bit more today too.”
Chu Xi looked at their matching couple pajamas, tilted his head, and asked, “What about you? Do you love me a little more today?”
Jinyan smiled and leaned down to kiss Chu Xi’s cheek. “Yes.”
For some reason, Jinyan began to look forward to every morning in the future.
Whether the weather was good or bad upon waking, as long as Chu Xi was by his side, he felt stable and happy.
The next day, the two returned to school. That night, Chu Xi shared a kiss with Zhou Jinyan before bed, then logged onto the system to check his course schedule while lying in bed.
Most of the courses for the first half of the semester were already finished. Chu Xi scanned the remaining classes and pondered whether he should just skip them all and go for an internship instead.
A notification popped up on WeChat. It was from Fu Zhaosheng, saying he would pick Chu Xi up at the Small West Gate at 8:00 AM tomorrow.
The 11:00 PM alarm rang, and Chu Xi turned it off. Jinyan switched off the lights, plunging the room into darkness. Worried that Jinyan wouldn’t be able to see the way, Chu Xi turned on his small nightlight.
The faint glow illuminated a small space. Chu Xi hugged his lamb plushie, listening to the movements outside. He felt Zhou Jinyan walk over to his bed and stop. Chu Xi blinked, a sense of anticipation rising in his heart.
Sure enough, a moment later, Jinyan’s voice came: “Goodnight, baby.”
Chu Xi buried his head in the covers. “Goodnight.”
The air remained quiet for a moment. Chu Xi knew Jinyan hadn’t left yet. He closed his eyes but eventually couldn’t resist pulling back the curtain. “What are you doing, Gege? Why aren’t you going back to your own bed to sleep?”
Jinyan seemed to think about it with mock distress, then let out a charming laugh. “Maybe because I didn’t get a goodnight kiss?”
Jinyan concluded: “That’s why I can’t sleep.”
Who can’t sleep just because they didn’t get a goodnight kiss?
Chu Xi didn’t call him out on his flawed logic. Instead, he pulled the curtain fully open and sat up, letting his legs hang off the edge of the bed.
Chu Xi looked down at him and held out his hands. “Then carry me down.”
Jinyan looked up at Chu Xi. The orange light of the nightlight reflected in his eyes like a shattered galaxy, incredibly soft. Seeing Chu Xi looking at him so focusly with his hands out—that obedient appearance made Jinyan’s heart melt completely.
The next moment, a pair of broad, powerful hands grasped Chu Xi’s waist. With a strong, irresistible force, Jinyan lifted him steadily off the bed.
Chu Xi habitually hooked his arms around Jinyan’s neck. After being suspended for a moment, his feet touched the floor. He stood on his tiptoes and pressed a kiss onto Jinyan’s lips.
“Chu.”
After the kiss, Chu Xi rested his head casually on Jinyan’s shoulder. “Goodnight kiss. Sweet dreams, Gege.”
The sensation of the kiss lingered on his lips. Watching Chu Xi lean against his shoulder so defenselessly, Jinyan’s grip tightened slightly. “I want to sleep with you, baby.”
They hadn’t been official for long, but Jinyan felt as if he had developed separation anxiety. He couldn’t stand being away from Chu Xi for even a short while.
He had only slept with Chu Xi for two nights; how had he already forgotten how to sleep alone?
He felt as if something was missing from his arms, and his heart felt empty.
“I mean, we could,” Chu Xi raised his head, his tone both sincere and worried. “But can your bed hold the weight of two adult men?”
True, the dorm was too inconvenient. Even without other roommates, there were restrictions everywhere. It would be best to move out and live together soon.
Jinyan felt a bit of regret but didn’t want the “reward” he had just secured to slip away. He picked Chu Xi up—he felt weightless, too light. “It can, baby.”
Jinyan leaned close to his ear: “As long as we…”
Chu Xi’s ears turned red from the hot breath. After hearing the rest of Jinyan’s sentence, his eyes widened in embarrassment.
What does he mean ‘as long as our movements on the bed aren’t too intense’?!
Chu Xi’s mind, which was already full of “scraps,” immediately thought of something dirty. He poked Jinyan’s chest reproachfully with his finger. “Then don’t you dare seduce me!”
Every time they kissed, Jinyan was the one who took the initiative.
And every time he kissed so hard that Chu Xi couldn’t resist even if he wanted to, ending up dazed and dizzy. In short, if the bed collapsed because it couldn’t take the weight, it wouldn’t be his fault.
To prevent any potential embarrassment, Chu Xi made a final decision: “We’ll sleep in your bed.”
That way, if the bed collapsed, it wouldn’t be his bed that broke. After much “careful consideration,” he didn’t even stop to think about how “intense” they would have to be to actually break a bed.
Jinyan couldn’t help but laugh at Chu Xi’s serious but flawed planning. He squeezed the soft flesh at Chu Xi’s waist. “Okay.”
Jinyan was taller than the bed frame, so he easily lifted Chu Xi and sat him on the edge of his bed. Just as he was about to climb in, Chu Xi said, “Wait! Go get my lamb and my pillow for me, okay?”
Jinyan paused. “Sure.”
Taking advantage of his height, he easily grabbed the plushie and the pillow. As he did, his gaze fell upon two small bears on Chu Xi’s desk—one brown and one white. They were clearly a pair, and the brown one was the exact same model as the one he had at home.
? Where did those come from?
Jinyan’s strong sense of crisis immediately made him think of Chu Xi’s “childhood sweetheart boyfriend.”
The other guy couldn’t have given those to him, right?
Jinyan felt a pang in his chest at the thought. He took a breath, handed the items to Chu Xi, and lay down beside him.
He stared at the ceiling for a while before speaking with “extreme casualness”: “Baby, why didn’t you bring those two bears from your desk?”
“I only saw the lamb before.” Jinyan finally revealed his true intent, not even bothering to act anymore. “Who gave them to baby?”
The design was twenty years old; they were impossible to buy now. Even vintage shops wouldn’t sell that specific model.
Chu Xi hugged the lamb and instinctively leaned closer to Jinyan. Not thinking much of it, he spilled everything: “A grandmother gave them to me.”
Jinyan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
It was a grandmother, not the childhood sweetheart.
He realized he was too insecure, which was why he overthought things. He told himself he must punish himself by being even clingier and loving Chu Xi even more.
Chu Xi was getting sleepy; his voice grew quieter. “Grandma said I lost the brown one when I was little and was really sad. She promised to buy me a matching pair. Sadly, before she could give them to me, she moved abroad. She only just came back recently.”
Jinyan pulled the youth into his arms with practiced ease. Hearing about the “lost” bear, he thought to himself: Actually, you didn’t lose it. You even hugged that bear yesterday.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t say those words out loud.
“We never even got to go on our date that time.”
Chu Xi suddenly sounded like he was complaining/acting spoiled. The bears didn’t mean much to him; he wasn’t his childhood self anymore. It was hard to have deep feelings for a bear that was ten years late. Those dolls were nowhere near as important to him as the lamb he had had since high school.
The regret of the missed date chased away his sleepiness. Chu Xi perked up: “When are we going to make up for that date, Gege?”
Before Jinyan could reply, Chu Xi sat up energetically and opened his phone to check his schedule. A moment later, he deflated.
He forgot.
He had a half-month internship coming up!!
He had no time for a date at all!!
Chu Xi huffed, turned off his phone, and lay back down, burrowing into Jinyan’s arms. The man kissed his hair and began coaxing him: “Why the long face, baby?”
Chu Xi explained his busy schedule. Jinyan found it funny but knew how much Chu Xi valued a sense of ceremony. “How about Christmas?” he coaxed.
“How about we go see the Northern Lights for Christmas?” Jinyan knew Chu Xi loved romantic things and hit the mark perfectly. “What do you think, baby?”
The internship would be over by then. Chu Xi was instantly sold. “Okay!”
It was said that if you see the Northern Lights with the person you love, your relationship will last forever!
Chu Xi fantasized about it and felt “romanced” all over again. His excited mind couldn’t sleep now; he started thinking about how to dress for the trip.
And how to “secretly” show off their relationship on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book).
Earlier, Chu Xi had been re-reading the comments on his posts and saw someone saying his “exclusive photographer” must be a handsome guy!
That made Chu Xi very happy. Of course could his boyfriend be anything but handsome?
He had used a “smurf” account (alt account) to secretly like the comment in agreement so it wouldn’t show that the “Author liked” it. Chu Xi felt very clever for doing that.
But speaking of Xiaohongshu, Chu Xi then remembered that annoying “breakup advice” post. Sigh! Did those netizens know how much he and Jinyan loved each other? They were advising him to break up without knowing anything! He had nothing to say to those netizens who were too possessive of other people’s relationships!
No, the more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He wanted to go on Xiaohongshu right now and show those “breakup-pushers” exactly how much he and Jinyan loved each other!
