- After My Cheap Husband Faked His Death, I Ended Up Happily Ever After with His Younger Brother
- Chapter 10 - The Little Green Tea is Quite Amusing
On Saturday morning, Luo Huai woke up very early.
When he went downstairs for breakfast, he saw Lin Yuhe, which was a rare sight.
Lin Yuhe was dressed in casual attire: a light gray hoodie paired with black joggers. His hair was not styled and hung softly over his forehead, making him look completely different from his usual workday appearance.
He was standing by the island in the open-plan kitchen, seemingly tinkering with something.
On a beautiful weekend day like this, why was this guy at home instead of out on a date with Luo Jingxi?
Luo Huai walked down the stairs with a hint of curiosity. After a few steps, his gaze swept over a small cart on the island, which was already loaded with a picnic blanket, disposable cutlery, and the like.
Then, he spotted Luo Jingxi, who had been in his blind spot just a moment ago.
Ah, the old flame arrived, albeit slightly later than expected.
The Omega was wearing a blue-and-white striped hoodie and jeans. His hair was fluffy, and he looked full of vitality and quite cute.
Luo Huai raised an eyebrow and lightened his footsteps.
Did he come directly to the house? That was quite bold. Perhaps he was confident that Luo Huai would not break down and cause a scene.
Neither of them noticed him.
Luo Huai watched as Luo Jingxi leaned in, hugged Lin Yuhe’s waist from behind, and pressed his face against Lin Yuhe’s back. His voice was soft and sweet: “Brother Yuhe, we are going for a picnic today. Are you really not going to call Little Brother Huai?”
What a way to put it.
On the surface, he was fighting for Luo Huai, but in reality, was he not just hoping Lin Yuhe would follow his hidden intent?
Luo Huai held back a laugh, stood in place, and blew at his bangs.
The little green tea is actually quite amusing.
Beside the island, Lin Yuhe turned around, grasped Luo Jingxi’s shoulders, and pushed him slightly away. His expression was strange and somewhat unnatural.
“I have been thinking,” Lin Yuhe said, his tone hesitant. “I should call him.”
Luo Huai: “?”
The obedient smile on Luo Jingxi’s face stiffened.
“Huh?” Luo Jingxi blinked, thinking he had heard wrong.
Lin Yuhe continued, his voice sounding more serious than before: “After all, he and I are partners in name now. We should spend more time together.”
He paused and added: “Also, you should not stand so close to me here. Someone might see us.”
With every word he spoke, Luo Jingxi’s expression crumbled further.
His eyes reddened first, and his lips trembled slightly, as if he could not believe these words were coming from Lin Yuhe.
“Hmph,” Luo Jingxi turned his head away. His voice carried a sobbing tone as he said weakly: “You big liar. You clearly said before that you only liked me. I had better leave. Since you are married anyway, I will never bother you and Little Brother Huai again.”
He kept his head down, eyes red and voice full of grievance, looking utterly pitiful.
Luo Huai had to admit, even he felt a pang of sympathy.
Lin Yuhe was obviously panicked. Ignoring everything else, he reached out and pulled Luo Jingxi into his arms. Resting his chin on top of Luo Jingxi’s head, his voice was hurried and soft: “I am sorry, Jingxi. I will not call him. Let’s just go by ourselves. I am also.”
He took a deep breath to organize his thoughts and continued: “Don’t worry. I won’t like him. Everything is exactly as we agreed before. Ours is just a marriage of convenience! Aside from pretending in front of our parents, I will not look at him even once at any other time!”
Luo Jingxi looked up from his embrace, his hand resting on Lin Yuhe’s chest. Though his voice still held a trace of tears, his eyes had changed: “Then, what if Little Brother Huai likes you? After all, you are so good.”
Lin Yuhe curled his lips, reached out to tap Luo Jingxi’s nose, and spoke with indulgence: “That is none of my business. Someone like Luo Huai, who has been drifting outside for so many years, has the most schemes. He can never compare to my Jingxi.”
Luo Jingxi finally beamed and looked up to kiss Lin Yuhe on the cheek.
It was a crisp “pop” sound.
Luo Huai stood with his legs crossed, leaning against the stair railing, watching the scene. He felt the only thing missing was a handful of sunflower seeds.
Tsk tsk, what a pair of soulmates.
Seeing the two of them getting closer and closer, about to start kissing, Luo Huai originally wanted to keep quiet and watch, but the housekeeper at the door had finished mopping and was about to enter. If she bumped into this scene and it reached the ears of Luo’s parents, it would be another trouble.
Luo Huai had no choice but to “kindly” offer a reminder.
He gave a light cough.
“Ahem.”
The two were so startled they immediately jumped apart, moving as if they had been electrocuted.
Lin Yuhe backed up two steps, hit his lower back against the island, and put on a pained expression. Luo Jingxi sprang away three meters, hands behind his back, his face bright red. It was one thing to be provocative online, but to be caught in the act in reality? He could not act arrogant now.
Luo Huai sauntered over, wearing a perfectly timed expression of surprise, as if he had just come downstairs and seen nothing.
“Jingxi is here?” He blinked. “Why did you not say so earlier? I just got up. How embarrassing!”
Luo Jingxi smiled stiffly, his voice trembling: “L, Little Brother Huai, I was just passing by. Hahaha, leaving right away.”
Who takes a detour of ten kilometers just to “pass by”?
Luo Huai could not be bothered to expose him. He reached out and patted Luo Jingxi’s shoulder, his tone incredibly affectionate: “What is the rush? Sit down and have a glass of water.”
Then, pretending to be ignorant of the earlier conversation, his gaze fell on the boxes on the island. Steaks, pastries, and fruits were neatly packed in several boxes, clearly portioned for two people.
Luo Huai tilted his head, his tone innocent: “Are these?”
He looked at Lin Yuhe with a sudden realization: “Oh, I see. Is your company having a team-building event today? Did you prepare these for them?”
Lin Yuhe was fretting over not having an excuse. Last night, he had somehow made up his mind to invite Luo Huai to the picnic, but after seeing how upset his beloved was just now, how could he dare to invite him?
He immediately took the chance to climb down from the ledge, gave a dry cough: “Yes, team-building. Company team-building.”
Luo Huai nodded and smiled understandingly: “Then hurry up and go. Do not keep your colleagues waiting.”
He glanced at Luo Jingxi and added: “Why do you not give Jingxi a ride on the way?”
Luo Jingxi and Lin Yuhe exchanged glances, both looking surprised. Clearly, they had not expected Luo Huai to volunteer that.
But they could not really say anything else.
Luo Jingxi awkwardly said, “Goodbye, Little Brother Huai,” and Lin Yuhe picked up the boxes of food. The two of them left, one after the other.
The sound of their footsteps gradually faded.
Luo Huai stood at the door, watching the white SUV drive out of the villa gate. Only then did he tilt his mouth and burst into laughter.
He turned around and returned to the kitchen, took a carton of milk from the fridge, poured it into a cup, and microwaved it for a minute.
Once the milk was hot, he held the warm cup, leaned against the island, and took a sip, feeling exceptionally good.
As he drank, he planned his schedule for the day: head to the supermarket in the afternoon, take the safe to the apartment near the school in the evening, and perhaps stay there instead of coming back. Tomorrow is Sunday, so he can attend to his own real business.
As he thought about this, he did not forget to annoy Pei Jiheng.
Luo Huai put down his milk cup, took out his phone, opened their chat box, and sent three emojis in a row.
Each one was more obnoxious than the last.
The first was a cat stretching, with the caption: “Good morning.”
The second was a puppy holding a rose, with the caption: “Missed you.”
The third was a rabbit bowing frantically, with the caption: “Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me.”
Sent.
The other side remained completely silent.
Luo Huai stared at the screen for a few seconds, drank another sip of milk with twinkling eyes, pocketed his phone, and headed upstairs.
