- Chapter 80 - I Unconditionally Support You
This permanent marking lasted for three full days. Even after it ended, the two lingered intimately in the room for a long time, only stepping out on the fourth day.
At first, Housekeeper Wu was quite happy. The faint traces of pheromones she detected when delivering meals revealed their current state—clearly, they had undergone a permanent marking.
However, from what she knew, permanent marking shouldn’t take that long. As the days passed without them emerging, Housekeeper Wu began to worry that something unexpected had happened.
Finally, on the fourth morning, the door opened.
When Housekeeper Wu saw the two appear in the dining room, her expression visibly relaxed.
Ye Wenjin belatedly felt a little embarrassed, realizing that their prolonged absence must have made Housekeeper Wu fear something had gone wrong.
Fortunately, seeing them both unharmed and in excellent spirits, Housekeeper Wu felt relieved and even a little gratified.
But during breakfast, Housekeeper Wu seemed to recall something, her expression suddenly turning serious. She walked over to Jian Mo’s side, intending to speak with her privately.
Noticing this, Ye Wenjin hesitated, wondering if she should excuse herself. Before she could decide, Jian Mo spoke up, “Aunt Wu, just say it directly. There’s no need to hide anything from Wenjin from now on.”
Housekeeper Wu looked surprised but didn’t question it. A flicker of amusement passed through her eyes before she nodded solemnly. “Miss, the Yin family has been sending people over these past few days—not just Yin Yu and Yin Feifei, but also… that Madam Ye. She’s come the most, saying she wants to see Miss Wenjin.”
Jian Mo’s expression turned cold.
“Ignore them.”
After a pause, she turned to Ye Wenjin, her gaze softening instantly. “Wenjin, do you want to see her?”
Ye Wenjin knew Jian Mo was considering her feelings, worried she might still harbor some affection for Ye Shuyao. But she truly had no desire to see her again. Without hesitation, she shook her head. “No. We’re no longer mother and daughter—at most, we’re familiar strangers now.”
“Besides, her motives for coming to see me are too obvious. With the Yin family on the brink of bankruptcy, if no one steps in to help, they’ll surely collapse. And if the Yin family falls, she won’t be able to maintain her privileged lifestyle anymore.”
She understood Ye Shuyao all too well. Just as she had once severed ties for personal gain, she would now shamelessly seek her out, hoping Ye Wenjin could persuade Jian Mo to spare the Yin family.
But that was clearly impossible.
Though she wasn’t entirely sure about the exact nature of the feud between Yin Yu and Jian Mo, she had picked up hints from Jian Mo’s earlier conversation with Yin Feifei.
It was possible Yin Yu had some unresolved conflict with Jian Mo, and the only reason Ye Wenjin could think of for Jian Mo going to such lengths was likely related to Aunt Shen.
Ye Wenjin had learned a little about what happened to Aunt Shen back then. If Yin Yu truly had a hand in it, there was no way she could ever ask Jian Mo to forgive her.
Even if Yin Yu was merely acting as an accomplice, wrongdoing was wrongdoing—there was no excuse.
Moreover, it was still unclear whether Yin Yu had willingly played a part for her own benefit or had been forced into it.
After all, based on her understanding of Yin Yu, this was someone who, even if initially forced, would quickly turn coercion into voluntary action once she tasted the benefits.
She was precisely the kind of person who would stop at nothing for personal gain.
If she was like this now, she might have been even more ambitious in the past.
No matter the angle from which she considered it, Ye Wenjin couldn’t possibly persuade Jian Mo to spare Yin Yu.
For one, she had no standing to urge Jian Mo to forgive an enemy. For another… she didn’t even want to try. The matter of Aunt Shen had remained a festering wound in Jian Mo’s heart all these years, still trapping her in place after so long.
Ye Wenjin hoped Jian Mo could move forward. Since letting go was impossible, then another way had to be found. Once all the vengeance that needed to be exacted was done, perhaps the knot in her heart would finally loosen.
Thus, far from dissuading her, Ye Wenjin would even encourage Jian Mo to act without hesitation—so long as she didn’t cross legal boundaries, she had her full support.
After a moment of thought, Ye Wenjin decisively said, “Sister, don’t worry about me. Do whatever you need to do. I’ll support you unconditionally.”
Jian Mo looked at Ye Wenjin, seeing unwavering resolve in her eyes, along with love given without reservation. Her heart pounded fiercely.
Her A-Jin—how could she be so utterly adorable? So much so that Jian Mo didn’t want to let her out of her sight for even a second.
With this sigh in her heart, Jian Mo suddenly laughed. “A-Jin, aren’t you afraid I might have no bottom line?”
Ye Wenjin didn’t hesitate. “No, I know you have your limits. Besides… I want to live a long, long life with you. Don’t you want that too?”
Stars seemed to dance in her eyes, breathtakingly beautiful.
Jian Mo couldn’t hold back her laughter and sighed. “Of course I do. A-Jin, you’ve really learned how to handle me now.”
Ye Wenjin smiled. “It’s only because you let me. If you didn’t want to, how could a few careless words ever hold you back?”
Jian Mo laughed even harder.
She suddenly realized how fortunate she was. If she hadn’t met Ye Wenjin back then, her world might still be shrouded in darkness, devoid of even a sliver of light. She would have trudged on numbly, only to die just as numb in the end.
Fate worked in mysterious ways, leading her to the light that belonged to her alone.
Jian Mo’s gaze softened. “A-Jin, I might go a bit too far. Are you really okay with that?”
Ye Wenjin nodded. “As long as it’s not illegal, it’s fine.”
With that assurance, Jian Mo quickly formed a plan in her mind.
Had it not been for Ye Wenjin, she might have truly crossed legal boundaries. But not now—she still had to spend forever with her A-Jin, so naturally, some lines couldn’t be crossed.
Even so, she had her ways.
Back when Yin Yu worked under Jian Li, her misdeeds weren’t limited to just helping imprison Jian Mo’s mother.
At the time, the Jian family was in the shipping business, with half their trade involving imports and exports. Regulations weren’t as strict back then, so many dabbled in gray-area dealings.
Jian Li had naturally been involved, with Yin Yu handling some of it for her. The two were tied together like grasshoppers on the same string.
And what Jian Mo wanted went far beyond just bankrupting Yin Yu.
To live a glorious first half of life, only to spend the latter half in prison—such a stark contrast would bring an immense psychological blow.
Once both of them were behind bars, she had plenty of ways to make them understand what true suffering felt like.
What did it matter if Jian Li was her biological mother? The moment she took control of the company, she had already severed all ties with Jian Li. Everything she possessed now had nothing to do with Jian Li.
Since Ye Wenjin had promised unconditional support for any decision she made, Jian Mo no longer hid her plans and shared them openly with Ye Wenjin.
Aunt Wu, watching the two discuss matters amicably, had initially been worried but now wore a relieved smile.
It was good that things were out in the open. This way, both of them had someone who truly understood and accepted them.
Aunt Wu couldn’t help but sigh—reaching this point hadn’t been easy.
She had long been concerned that, despite Miss Mo’s kindness toward Miss Wenjin, there was still a barrier between them. If certain things weren’t addressed, they could one day erupt with devastating consequences.
From the moment Aunt Wu learned that Miss Wenjin was the person Miss Mo had loved for so long, she had been uneasy observing their interactions.
But fortunately, the outcome was positive.
Once everything was settled, a wedding would make it all perfect.
Aunt Wu couldn’t help but imagine that day.
However, there were still other matters to report. Suppressing her thoughts, she said, “Miss, there’s something else. Recently, besides the Yin family, I’ve noticed another person lurking suspiciously around the villa. This person claims to be Miss Wenjin’s mother.”
As she spoke, Aunt Wu produced surveillance photos.
With just one glance, Ye Wenjin recognized her—Guan You.
“Why is she here too?”
Ye Wenjin frowned.
Aunt Wu understood immediately—this woman really was Miss Wenjin’s mother. But judging from her observations in the surveillance footage, the woman’s intentions were far from pure.
Ye Wenjin couldn’t figure it out. Last time, Guan You had managed to sneak into the charity gala with someone’s help. Had she now found the villa address the same way?
But what was the purpose?
Ye Wenjin didn’t believe for a second that the person who had given Guan You the villa’s address had done so out of kindness.
She turned to Jian Mo and said, “Sister, I saw Guan You at the charity gala last time. Right after that, I couldn’t find you. Later, I realized that if she got into the venue, someone must have brought her in—likely the same person who set you up.”
She had suspected before that Guan You’s presence at the gala was orchestrated by someone behind the scenes. And that person was undoubtedly connected to the scheme against Jian Mo.
Jian Mo’s eyes turned cold. She had already uncovered the truth—the one who had plotted against her was Yin Feifei.
The woman was bold—perhaps too confident—because she hadn’t even bothered to cover her tracks. She was nowhere near as cunning as her mother, Yin Yu.
When Jian Mo first discovered Yin Feifei’s involvement, she had almost doubted her own eyes.
After all, Yin Feifei was too stupid—stupid enough to try trapping her at a charity gala, stupid enough to think she could trigger Jian Mo’s estrus with underhanded tactics.
Yin Feifei’s motives were laughably transparent. She wanted to use such crude methods to possess Jian Mo and then control her.
Unfortunately for her, the plan was exposed before she could act.
But Jian Mo was not one to let slights go unanswered. Tolerating such schemes was out of the question.
That incident had also accelerated her plans.
She had been pondering what means to use to provoke Yin Yu and push her to make a decision, but unexpectedly, the opportunity arrived so quickly.
Running into Yin Yu and the other two at the restaurant was entirely unexpected for Jian Mo, but it immediately made her realize—the opportunity had come.
Though the setup wasn’t her doing, she was more than happy to give it a nudge.
Sure enough, Yin Yu soon made up her mind and entered into a partnership with Tong Yan.
Once one foot stepped into the trap, Yin Yu had no chance of extricating herself. She could only sink deeper and deeper until she plunged into hell.
Half of the plan had already succeeded, but Guan You’s sudden appearance now struck both of them as odd.
Could there be someone behind Guan You, trying to use her for something?
But what could Guan You possibly do? She had been taken to the Yin family by Ye Shuyao since childhood and had no further ties with Guan You.
In comparison, Guan You felt more like a stranger to her—unlike when facing Ye Shuyao before, where she had still wrestled with hesitation.
Ye Wenjin furrowed her brows tightly, lost in thought.
Seeing this, Jian Mo stood up and walked over to her, patting her shoulder reassuringly. “Alright, if you can’t figure it out, don’t dwell on it. I’ll look into it.”
She, too, was eager to know why Guan You had suddenly appeared.
Deep down, Jian Mo had a strong premonition—Guan You’s actions at this moment might very well be connected to Jian Li.
Even under her watch, Jian Li still managed to find people to do her bidding…
Truly a lingering ghost.
