- Chapter 4 - You Don’t Even Know How to Kiss?
Unconsciously murmuring these words, Ye Wenjin tightened her embrace, as if afraid the person in her arms might escape.
She instinctively sought the source of comfort, her nose lightly sniffing, as if trying to draw in every trace of that soothing scent to calm her feverish, aching nerves.
Completely oblivious to how forward her actions were, she closed the distance between them until her lips nearly brushed against the other’s neck.
The person in her arms stiffened almost imperceptibly but quickly relaxed, allowing Ye Wenjin to press closer.
Though the cooling fragrance had eased some of her discomfort, the overwhelming effects of her sudden differentiation and the lingering drugs had left her with little rationality. All she knew was that holding this person made her feel better.
Even if she didn’t know who it was, that didn’t stop her from keeping them firmly trapped in her arms.
An Alpha’s nature drove her to instinctively pursue the Omega most compatible with her and without a doubt, Ye Wenjin had just encountered hers the moment she differentiated.
A combination of factors made her unwilling to let go. Fortunately, the hallway was empty, because the presence of any other Alpha’s pheromones would have triggered her instincts.
But even if no one appeared, this wasn’t the right place.
Cool, calculating eyes swept the surroundings, and when they landed on a security camera, Jian Mo’s expression darkened. Realizing the danger of staying, she decided to take Ye Wenjin away.
Yet before she could move, Ye Wenjin suddenly leaned in, her dazed eyes fixed intently on her.
Jian Mo’s breath hitched, a flicker of tension stirring in her chest.
But Ye Wenjin wasn’t lucid. Her gaze traced over the woman before her, her thoughts too muddled to recognize her, only that she seemed familiar.
The waist she held was slender, almost fragile, as if it might break with too much pressure. Ye Wenjin lowered her head, inhaling deeply, the scent of cold plum blossoms was everywhere, but it grew richer the closer she got to bare skin. Her fingers twitched, itching to push aside the fabric in her way.
But the moment her fingertips grazed the other’s skin, her hand was caught. Ye Wenjin frowned slightly, her damp eyes pleading, filled with urgency.
“Mmm… don’t rush.”
Jian Mo wasn’t as composed as she appeared. Though equally affected, this wasn’t the place.
Meeting Ye Wenjin’s desperate gaze, she chuckled softly. “Not here. Come back to my room. I’ll give you whatever you want, alright, Ah Jin?”
Her voice was gentle yet laced with temptation.
Ye Wenjin didn’t even think of refusing, docilely letting herself be led into the room.
The moment the door closed, all restraint vanished.
In the enclosed space, their pheromones ran wild, quickly saturating every corner.
The icy fragrance of winter plum intertwined with the intoxicating aroma of rosemary, like sudden sunlight piercing through the cold, warming the heart.
Ye Wenjin didn’t notice how her own pheromones, once unleashed, surged through the air, marking every inch of the room with her dominance.
And the epicenter of it all was the woman before her, whose scent of frost-kissed blossoms was now thoroughly claimed.
Due to the feverish heat brought on by her secondary differentiation and the spiked drink she had just consumed, Ye Wenjin was in a daze, completely unaware of how inappropriate her actions were.
Her pheromones surged, enveloping the woman before her in a torrent, their tendrils cautiously yet insistently brushing against the proud winter plum blossoms standing tall on the branch. Soon, mere contact was no longer enough for her, and soon every cold plum was entwined with the intoxicating scent of rosemary.
The entangled plum blossoms slowly unfurled their petals, their icy fragrance growing richer as the rosemary melded seamlessly within.
Being embraced and accepted only fueled Ye Wenjin’s excitement. Perhaps it was the woman’s indulgence that made her grow bolder, and so she unapologetically wrapped her pheromones around the woman, layer after layer, binding her tightly.
Only when the woman was thoroughly saturated with her scent did Ye Wenjin finally feel satisfied.
Yet the feverish heat in her body had only been slightly alleviated, and an even fiercer warmth spread from within, coursing through her entire being.
Ye Wenjin’s brows furrowed tightly in discomfort, her mind too muddled to think clearly. Suddenly, as if struck by inspiration, she lifted her gaze to the woman, her eyes pleading.
She must have a way to help me.
Once the thought took hold, Ye Wenjin clung to it like a lifeline, staring at her with desperate hope. “Help me…”
She voiced her plea with raw honesty.
Jian Mo, wrapped from head to toe in Ye Wenjin’s pheromones, was far from unaffected. Yet when she heard the plea, the corner of her lips curled slightly. “How would you like me to help you?”
Ye Wenjin didn’t know. Her mind was a foggy mess, incapable of coherent thought. She only knew instinctively that the person before her could help but how, she had no idea.
Her distress deepened, the heat staining the corners of her eyes a delicate shade of pink, making her look pitifully endearing.
Watching her flounder helplessly in the throes of desire, Jian Mo reached out, brushing her fingertips against Ye Wenjin’s flushed eyelids before sighing softly.
“Ah Jin, kiss me.”
The command was firm, yet Ye Wenjin obeyed as if enchanted, leaning forward slowly until their lips met, only to pause there, dazed and uncertain.
“You don’t even know how to kiss?”
Jian Mo’s voice was cool and melodic, but in this moment, it carried an inexplicable allure.
Ye Wenjin lowered her eyes, guilt creeping into her expression. “I… I’m sorry.”
But Jian Mo cut off her stammered apology, tilting her chin up and pressing their lips together in a proper kiss.
The scent of winter plums grew even stronger, intertwining with the rosemary until the air was thick with their mingled pheromones, indistinguishable from one another.
Ye Wenjin felt as though she were covered in plum blossoms, the rich aroma filling her senses until she could no longer tell whose pheromones were whose.
Outside, the rain had grown heavier without notice, pattering noisily against the windows as the wind rustled through the trees.
It was the perfect weather for deep slumber but the storm beyond the glass held no sway over the room’s occupants, nor did the cold touch them.
The temperature climbed steadily, and Ye Wenjin’s restlessness only intensified. A primal urge simmered within her until, at last, it could no longer be suppressed. She pinned the woman beneath her, her gaze predatory as it raked over her face. Then, lowering her head, she inhaled deeply, savoring the intoxicating fragrance of cold plum blossoms.
The scent seeped into her, driving her to seek out its strongest source.
It didn’t take long for Ye Wenjin to find it the sweetest, most potent aroma emanated from the woman’s nape.
She tentatively moved closer, her nose twitching slightly, but her expression was hesitant.
Even in her dazed state, Ye Wenjin still felt this wasn’t right, that place was too important for a woman, she couldn’t bite it.
Yet the scorching heat devoured her willpower. Despite the soothing fragrance of winter plum, it was never enough to suppress the overwhelming urge.
Jian Mo quickly realized something was wrong. Under the influence of the drugs, Ye Wenjin’s secondary differentiation had become even more volatile. Mere comfort like this was nothing more than scratching an itch through a boot. Her eyes cooled slightly, but soon, Ye Wenjin’s movements drew soft gasps from her. Instead of stopping her, Jian Mo encouraged it.
And so, their clothes scattered across the floor in their entanglement, leaving them bare before each other.
By the faint glow of light, Ye Wenjin gazed obsessively at the woman beneath her.
Her figure was truly exquisite, curves in all the right places, a slender waist, and long legs. Her skin was like fine jade, smooth and delicate to the touch. Ye Wenjin was entranced, unable to resist pressing light kisses against it.
The room burned with heat, and the sparks between their locked gazes seemed almost tangible.
Pheromones could convey many things for instance, Ye Wenjin could discern whether the other woman was comfortable just by sensing the state of her pheromones.
Unconsciously, Ye Wenjin began to grow more dominant.
In the past, she had always chosen to yield, unwilling to stir trouble for Ye Shuyao’s sake. No matter how much Yin Feifei provoked her, she paid it no mind.
All because Ye Shuyao had brainwashed her with endless complaints…
Even though she had married Yin Yu, they were still living under someone else’s roof. They had to tread carefully to secure a better life.
More importantly, Ye Shuyao had already been permanently marked by Yin Yu. Removing the mark wouldn’t just cause severe physical harm, there was also a fifty percent risk of lifelong depression.
So Ye Wenjin had always held back, because she still remembered how Ye Shuyao had once been a good mother to her in her childhood. She clung to that memory, willing to do anything Ye Shuyao asked.
When told not to clash with Yin Feifei, she endured. When told to respect Yin Yu and never defy her, she treated Yin Yu as nothing more than an aunt, imagining that she and her mother were merely hired help in the Yin household. So what if she had no freedom to come and go as she pleased?
After all, this was not her home.
For ten years, Ye Wenjin had obediently played the role of an invisible presence in the Yin family, dreaming only of independence after graduation then, the Yin family’s affairs would no longer concern her.
Who could have imagined that she would watch Ye Shuyao grow increasingly unrecognizable, until now, when she and Yin Yu’s mother-daughter duo were forcing her to replace Yin Feifei in a marriage to the Lin family?
All because she was a Beta, while Yin Feifei was an Alpha and not a low-ranking one at that. Marrying Lin’s daughter, a mere Beta, would be a waste. Even if Yin Feifei had to marry for alliance, she ought to choose a suitable Omega that would be a true asset to the Yin family.
But in the end, Yin Feifei would never marry the Lin family’s daughter.
And Yin Yu was the epitome of self-interest. Though she knew the Lin family was inferior to the Yins and looked down on their daughter, she also recognized the benefits an alliance could bring.
She was unwilling to give up those benefits, so she never once considered breaking off the engagement.
Thus, Ye Wenjin was dragged out to serve as a tool for the marriage alliance.
Perhaps it was the result of too much repression, but under the influence of her secondary differentiation and the drugs, Ye Wenjin was nothing like her usual self.
Jian Mo gazed at her expression, sensing her movements, and instead of resisting, she gently and compliantly embraced her.
But Ye Wenjin was inexperienced and didn’t quite know what she was doing. The moment she heard Jian Mo whimper in pain, she would freeze abruptly, staring at her helplessly, unsure of how to proceed.
Whenever this happened, Jian Mo would always guide her.
It all felt like a dream, Ye Wenjin was utterly intoxicated, being taught by this woman, watching as her eyes reddened at the edges from her actions, her gaze shimmering with moisture, as if brimming with boundless affection.
As if bewitched, Ye Wenjin kissed her deeply.
Tonight, the winter plum blossoms unfurled again and again, while the rosemary asserted its presence forcefully amidst them, especially around the scent gland at the nape of the neck, where the small protrusion seemed almost marinated in the fragrance.
Jian Mo surrendered herself willingly. She had considered that Ye Wenjin, in her dazed state, might permanently mark her, but she had no regrets.
Yet it didn’t happen. Ye Wenjin bit down on the gland, hesitated for a long time, and only left a temporary mark.
In her surprise, Jian Mo heard Ye Wenjin murmur indistinctly, “I can’t,” before pressing tender kisses to her gland.
Jian Mo gazed at her deeply for a long while before slowly closing her eyes.
The room remained steeped in lingering passion until late into the night before gradually settling, but the scent of rosemary never dissipated, clinging stubbornly to Jian Mo’s body.
By the next morning, Ye Wenjin was roused by her internal clock. The moment she opened her eyes, she was still dazed, but after a few seconds, fragments of memories flashed through her mind. At the same time, she caught the pervasive fragrance filling the room.
Pheromones?
But she was a Beta, how could she…?
Ye Wenjin abruptly sat up, her eyes widening.
Had she… differentiated? A secondary differentiation into an Alpha?!
The thought flickered through her mind, leaving her too stunned to speak. It took her a while to realize that something was off about her surroundings.
With a jolt of clarity, she immediately noticed the disarray, clothes strewn haphazardly across the floor, and the woman lying beside her all undeniable evidence of what had transpired the night before.
When she mustered the courage to take in the woman’s appearance, Ye Wenjin felt as if the sky had collapsed.
Wasn’t this the woman who had taken her seat under the spotlight last night?! And wasn’t she also her stepsister’s unattainable white moonlight?! She seemed to remember her name was Jian Mo…
Judging by the looks people had given her at the banquet, this Jian Mo was no ordinary figure. And Ye Wenjin, just an average college student, what right did she have to have a one-night stand with someone like her?
Ye Wenjin swallowed hard, her first instinct being to flee. This was far beyond anything she could handle.
If Jian Mo woke up and demanded answers…
The thought crossed her mind, and Ye Wenjin suddenly halted.
If Jian Mo really came after her, why should she run? Even if she was the culprit, she could easily pin all of this on the Yin family.
Ye Wenjin had to admit that, in this moment, the dark emotions she had long suppressed surged forth, overwhelming her rationality.
And it was precisely because of these encroaching shadows that she didn’t leave immediately.
Her gaze turned vacant, no one could guess what she was thinking. Only she knew just how twisted her thoughts had become in that instant.
Those dark thoughts grew like wild weeds, filling every corner of her mind. By the time she finally managed to rein in her emotions and calm down, Ye Wenjin still wanted to leave. But before she could move, she suddenly sensed an intense gaze coming from beside her.
Jian Mo had woken up.
