After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 43
Lin Sui didn’t sleep well that night. After not staying in the dorm for a while, she was back to being a light sleeper.
The next day, she went to class with dark circles under her eyes.
The teacher lectured from the podium while Lin Sui dozed off in her seat. The fact that she didn’t fall asleep completely was already a courtesy to the teacher.
Zhu Huan was engrossed in a single-player game. “I can’t believe this level is so insane!”
Lin Sui: “……”
After a while, Zhu Huan glanced at Lin Sui and put down her phone.
“Come on, let me wake you up. Spill the truth.”
Lin Sui looked suspicious. “What truth?”
“What did you do last night? You’re so drowsy,” Zhu Huan asked.
Lin Sui was silent for a moment. “I didn’t do anything. I just can’t sleep anywhere but my own bed.”
“I don’t believe that for a second,” Zhu Huan said, her eyes narrowing slightly. “Then why did you go to that Omega’s dormitory yesterday? What were you doing there?”
At this, Lin Sui suddenly perked up, nearly bursting into laughter from indignation.
“What could I possibly do? There were several people there!”
“So you’re saying if no one else was there, you would have done something?” Zhu Huan teased, seizing on the implication.
Lin Sui: “……”
“Hey, don’t make up nonsense.”
“Tsk, now you’re getting shy.”
Zhu Huan chuckled and shook her head, then lowered her gaze and picked up her phone again. “I have to beat this level!”
Lin Sui’s mind was in turmoil, her drowsiness completely gone.
She tried to focus on the lecture, but the content… it was the same old flavor, the same old formula, as soporific as ever.
Lin Sui propped her face in her hand, stifled a weary yawn, and her gaze drifted to Wen Xiangzhu, the girl seated in front of her.
Her hair was still in the familiar ponytail, and Lin Sui felt an inexplicable urge to reach out and touch it.
…
Hiss, what am I thinking?!
Lin Sui shook her head and turned her bored gaze out the window.
Looks like it’s time to stock up on some extra books to keep in my desk. Otherwise, I’ll have nothing to do during these hour-long classes.
After lunch, when Lin Sui returned to the classroom and hadn’t even sat down yet, Wen Xiangzhu turned around to face her.
“Sister…”
Lin Sui glanced at her without moving.
Her reaction is all the proof I need. If she just calls me over without saying anything, it can’t be good! I’ve got her figured out!
“Speak.”
“Could you come with me for a bit?” Wen Xiangzhu asked softly.
“Where?”
Lin Sui frowned.
But as soon as the words left her mouth, she remembered what Wen Xiangzhu had told her yesterday.
If you feel unwell during class, go to the restroom…
I really don’t want to go.
“Ah, you’ll see when you get there.”
Wen Xiangzhu stood up, smiling at her.
Lin Sui: “……”
Oh no, I feel like I’m being forced to sell my looks again.
But since I caused this mess, I have to deal with it.
Though Lin Sui was utterly reluctant, she nodded and followed Wen Xiangzhu out of the classroom.
She kept her head down, feeling overwhelmed.
By the time she looked up again, they had already left the school building.
Lin Sui paused, startled. “Why are we going this way?”
Wen Xiangzhu turned to look at her. “This is the right way.”
“But the school building is over there…”
“We’re going to that building.”
Lin Sui raised an eyebrow, glancing in the direction she was pointing.
Fine, we’re heading somewhere secluded.
She’s surprisingly particular.
Lin Sui didn’t protest further. It wasn’t until they reached the activity room door that she realized something was off.
“Why are we here?”
“This is where we’re supposed to be.”
Wen Xiangzhu gave her a puzzled look. Seeing Lin Sui’s strange reaction, she chuckled softly, as if struck by a sudden realization. “So… you thought we were going somewhere else?”
Lin Sui choked slightly, but quickly recovered her composure.
“I wasn’t implying anything. I was just asking.”
“Oh…”
“So, what brings you here?”
Feeling uneasy about her earlier thoughts, Lin Sui’s ears burned inexplicably. She quickly changed the subject.
Wen Xiangzhu blinked. “Didn’t I mention it? The Tennis League.”
“Of course! I’m here to join the Tennis Club!”
Lin Sui: “?”
She was actually serious?
Now, Wen Xiangzhu had really joined the Tennis Club.
Every day, she had to use her last afternoon class for training. For a high-achieving student like Wen Xiangzhu, whether she attended that class or not made little difference.
During the first few days, Lin Sui worried that the training might make Wen Xiangzhu feel unwell.
But after several uneventful days, she relaxed.
One lunchtime, before the break was over, all the classroom curtains were drawn shut, and the room fell silent.
Wen Xiangzhu hunched slightly, then turned, her face pale. “I need to use the restroom.”
She blinked. “I feel awful.”
Lin Sui, who was playing a game, saw her pale face and immediately put her game on pause.
“Let’s go.”
Wen Xiangzhu forced herself to act normal as she walked out the back door of the classroom.
As soon as she was outside, she couldn’t hold on anymore. She leaned against the wall, doubled over, her lips parted as she gasped for breath.
Lin Sui frowned and reached out to grab her wrist.
“Can you make it?”
“Mm…”
She seemed to recover a little and slowly straightened up, following Lin Sui toward the restroom.
The school restroom was divided by gender, and each section was further divided into Alpha and Omega areas.
Once inside, Lin Sui didn’t know which section to go to.
Wen Xiangzhu tilted her head, blinked, then pulled her toward the Alpha section.
Lin Sui was a little confused and instinctively stopped.
But the person in front of her only paused briefly before turning back. “It’s okay.”
Hearing this, Lin Sui pursed her lips, hesitated for a moment, then nodded and followed her inside.
There was no sound inside, so logically, no one was there.
It was lunchtime, after all, and hardly any students were around.
The drip of a faucet somewhere, not fully turned off, echoed intermittently.
Lin Sui’s heart raced, her nerves tingling.
Did I just lead an Omega into an Alpha’s restroom?
Lin Sui had considered checking each stall to see if anyone was inside, but Wen Xiangzhu, looking a little anxious, pulled her toward the nearest empty stall.
The stall was cramped. With the door closed, the two of them felt a little squeezed.
Before Lin Sui could move, Wen Xiangzhu pulled out two tissues. She held one in her hand, using it to lower the toilet lid, and gently placed the other on top of the lid.
“Sit.”
Lin Sui paused, then instinctively obeyed.
But the moment she sat down, Wen Xiangzhu boldly sat directly on her lap, facing her squarely. She wrapped her arms tightly around Lin Sui, holding her close.
Lin Sui could feel Wen Xiangzhu’s soft cheek brushing against her ear.
Lin Sui: “……”
Help? This is so strange.
Perhaps unsatisfied with the barrier of clothing, the Omega on top of her began to rub her skin against Lin Sui’s—her face, hands, even her neck.
Lin Sui’s breathing grew heavier, a strange restlessness rising in her chest.
It was a primal urge to tear something apart, a restless dissatisfaction.
She wanted to shred a piece of paper—or… a piece of fabric.
Her mind cleared slightly, startled by these sudden, inexplicable thoughts.
We’re just treating a patient—simple medical care. How could I be harboring such bizarre fantasies?!
As she thought this, she felt a tickle on her neck, followed by a wet sensation.
Her body stiffened. She tilted her head back slightly and gently pushed Wen Xiangzhu away.
“What were you messing with?”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked innocently, her eyes glistening with moisture. “I didn’t touch anything.”
Lin Sui: “……”
Didn’t touch anything? Then was it a ghost?!
Lin Sui choked back a laugh, her anger suddenly evaporating, replaced by an urge to chuckle.
Before she could process it further, footsteps approached from outside the restroom, accompanied by the sound of multiple voices.
“Ugh, I’m exhausted. My body clock is still messed up.”
“Who told you to stay up all night during your break? Now even standing in class can’t save you.”
“How was I supposed to know it’d be so hard to adjust? Now I’m drowsy during the day and wired as soon as it gets dark…”
In the cramped stall, Lin Sui unconsciously held her breath, meeting Wen Xiangzhu’s gaze.
Someone was coming.
A person had just entered the adjacent stall.
Lin Sui sat on the toilet, her legs dangling on the floor. Wen Xiangzhu sat on her lap, managing to keep her legs off the ground.
At least they weren’t touching the floor. Even if someone bent down to peek, they might not notice the hidden person in the stall.
Neither spoke, silently hoping the newcomers would leave quickly.
Moments later, sounds came from the neighboring stall.
“Huh? Out of toilet paper? Can you spare some from yours?”
A voice from a more distant stall also spoke.
“No, I’m running low too. If I give you mine, I won’t have any left.”
The neighbor clicked their tongue. A moment later, someone knocked on the partition to the left of Lin Sui’s stall.
“Hey, neighbor! Why haven’t you been making a sound? Constipated? You got any paper? Give me a hand.”
Lin Sui, inexplicably constipated: “……”
“Yeah.”
Lin Sui replied, pulling out a dozen or so sheets of paper. She bent down and slipped her hand under the partition gap. “Here.”
What should have been a simple action became exponentially harder with Wen Xiangzhu on top of her. To make matters worse, Wen Xiangzhu buried her face in Lin Sui’s neck as if she hadn’t noticed anything, her warm breaths caressing sensitive skin and further distracting her.
“Thanks.”
The neighbor bent down to retrieve the paper, paused, then asked, “Sis, those shoes look nice. Where’d you get them?”
“Don’t know. A friend gave them to me.”
Lin Sui cut off any further conversation, refusing to engage.
The neighbor didn’t press further, but seemed to sense something. “Do you smell something?”
Lin Sui knew the question wasn’t for her and remained silent.
Another voice chimed in, “What smell?”
“I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s sort of like… an Omega’s.”
“You must be mistaken. I don’t smell anything.”
“Oh… then it must be coming from another section with an Omega.”
“Right. If they’re close, it’s not surprising you’d catch a whiff.”
Lin Sui’s heart leaped to her throat with their conversation, then slowly settled back down, her palms growing slightly sweaty.
What’s the difference between this and riding a roller coaster?
Amidst the murmur of their voices and the rustle of fabric, the door next door opened. The two women went to wash their hands, their footsteps gradually fading into the distance.
Lin Sui listened intently, only exhaling in relief after confirming no other sounds followed.
“Feeling better now?”
The person in her arms mumbled weakly, “Much better.”
“Then… can we go now? Once lunch break ends, it’ll get crowded, and it might be harder to slip out then,” Lin Sui said hesitantly.
Wen Xiangzhu opened her eyes, reluctant to let go of Lin Sui’s scent. She sniffed one last time before standing and nodding.
“Okay.”
A short distance from the classroom, Lin Sui suddenly stopped, as if struck by a sudden thought.
Wen Xiangzhu, who had been walking ahead, also halted and turned around, eyeing her suspiciously. “What is it?”
“You go back first.”
Lin Sui paused. “I just remembered I have something to do.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, watching her for a moment before simply saying, “Oh,” and not pressing the matter. She turned and walked back slowly.
Only after seeing Wen Xiangzhu enter the classroom did Lin Sui breathe a sigh of relief. She casually leaned against the stair railing.
In truth, she had no errands to run. She just… didn’t want to enter the classroom with Wen Xiangzhu.
A little distance would prevent misunderstandings.
Lin Sui lowered her head and sighed silently.
It was strange. She was deliberately avoiding suspicion, pretending to be less familiar with Wen Xiangzhu in public, yet they still hugged and cuddled in the restroom…
So strange, so strange!
What was this? Lin Sui’s limited vocabulary couldn’t even describe this situation.
A headache came on. Unwilling to dwell on it further, she pulled out her phone and started aimlessly scrolling.
Hmm? That short story that stopped updating last time had a new chapter.
[After my relentless efforts, Sister finally agreed to be closer to me! (Although she seemed reluctant…) But it doesn’t matter. She’ll eventually grow to like me, and besides, she’s no longer engaged…]
