After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 35
Lin Sui’s mind froze. What the hell is this?!
She took a deep breath. “Wen Xiangzhu.”
Hearing her full name, Wen Xiangzhu paused, then said unhappily, “Sister, I told you to call me Achu in private.”
Lin Sui: “……”
“What are you thinking?”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, her voice softening. “It just came to me suddenly. The Dean said we kissed, but we didn’t actually kiss. I don’t know what a kiss feels like, so I said I wanted to try…”
“Sister, don’t you want to try?”
“No.”
Lin Sui quickly denied it. “I have no interest in that.”
“How is that possible? I got pretty good grades in biology. You can’t possibly not be interested in kissing.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked. “You really won’t try?”
Lin Sui turned around in exasperation. “Stop talking nonsense. Don’t say things like that again. Go take your exam.”
“Oh…” Wen Xiangzhu nodded obediently and slowly turned to walk away.
But quickly, she stopped and turned back to look at Lin Sui.
Lin Sui stared at her blankly. “Why aren’t you going?”
“I still want to do one thing,” she murmured, stepping back up to Lin Sui.
“What?”
Before Lin Sui could finish asking, Wen Xiangzhu stood on tiptoe and quickly kissed her cheek.
“Alright, good luck on your exam, Sister!”
With that, Wen Xiangzhu bounced away.
Lin Sui remained rooted to the spot, her mind frozen in a daze.
The warm, soft sensation on her cheek lingered, as if a brand had been seared there, now radiating heat.
She raised her hand to touch her cheek, feeling her heart race.
So… she had just been kissed?
By Wen Xiangzhu?!
Lin Sui closed her eyes, feeling utterly defeated.
This is it. Just as the Dean of Students said, it really happened…
There’s no way to erase this. Even jumping off a building wouldn’t wash this away!
Because there are cameras here, and the lights are still on.
Lin Sui glanced at the surveillance camera in the corner, a headache throbbing in her temples.
Forget it, forget it, forget it. Just like the Dean said, a kiss is just a kiss. It doesn’t matter!
…Well, actually, it does matter.
Now I’ve really been harassed… no, now I’ve been outright taken advantage of.
Lin Sui closed her eyes, her mind a tangled mess, trying to reassure herself.
It’s fine, it’s fine. This is just normal affection between sisters and family.
That’s all! Nothing more!
Absolutely! Nothing more!
Lin Sui (resolute): “…”
The afternoon exam had just ended when Lin Sui quickly gathered her things and dragged Zhu Huan out of the exam hall.
“What’s the rush? Are you in such a hurry to reincarnate?”
Lin Sui didn’t answer, only pulling her out of the school building before letting out a sigh of relief.
“It’s nothing,” she said. “I’m just hungry.”
Zhu Huan bent over slightly, still catching her breath from the sudden sprint. She hadn’t even had time to prepare herself. She gave Lin Sui a skeptical look. “Even if you were starving, you wouldn’t act like this. Besides, you ate a lot at lunch.”
Zhu Huan paused, narrowing her eyes slightly. “Are you… avoiding someone?”
“Me, avoid someone? Who could I possibly be avoiding? Don’t make up stories,” Lin Sui said with a forced laugh, tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Zhu Huan looked at her knowingly. It had started as a hunch, but Lin Sui’s reaction confirmed it. She was almost certain—Lin Sui was definitely avoiding someone.
“Who could it be? Is there really someone at school you’d avoid, Lin Sui? Spill!” Zhu Huan said with a grin.
“There’s nothing to spill,” Lin Sui denied immediately.
Zhu Huan raised an eyebrow. “If you won’t tell me, I’ll start guessing… Is it Wen Xiangzhu?”
Lin Sui’s expression stiffened momentarily.
“Your reaction…” Zhu Huan stroked her chin, feigning deep thought. “It’s definitely something.”
“It’s nothing, don’t read too much into it,” Lin Sui said, averting her gaze.
“Fine, don’t tell me then,” Zhu Huan said with a smile. “Let’s go get some food.”
“By the way, aren’t you going to the Jiang family during the winter break? When are you planning to go? Your exams are finished tomorrow.”
As they strolled out of the school gate, Zhu Huan suddenly remembered the matter and asked.
Lin Sui thought for a moment. “I’ll rest for two days after the exams, pack my things, and probably head over around then.”
“Then… what about Wen Xiangzhu?” Zhu Huan pondered. “Are you bringing her along?”
Lin Sui frowned, paused, and then remembered New Year’s Eve. “She’s going too. Wanwan even prepared a room for her next door. But I’m not sure if she’s coming with me or during the New Year.”
“You’re going to spend the New Year at the Jiang family’s house?”
“Yeah.”
Zhu Huan clicked her tongue. “Well, well. It looks like you’re planning to get married right after graduation.”
“How do you even know that?” Lin Sui chuckled softly.
Zhu Huan raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you think you should consider who I am?”
Lin Sui chuckled softly, then sighed helplessly.
“The elders of both families are indeed serious about this.”
“From the look on your face, you’re not exactly thrilled about it, are you?” Zhu Huan asked cautiously.
Lin Sui hesitated. “I still want to do it. The Lin family owes a debt of gratitude to the Jiang family for their timely support during our time of need.”
Zhu Huan nodded thoughtfully. “There are other ways to express gratitude. If you’re not comfortable with this, don’t force yourself.”
Lin Sui paused, and for some reason, she recalled the sudden kiss from earlier that day.
Warm, yet fiery.
She pressed her lips together and chuckled softly. “Let’s talk about it later. I’m still not entirely sure about this myself.”
“Besides, her grandma just passed away. It wouldn’t be appropriate to discuss this for a while.”
“Mm,” Zhu Huan agreed. “Just don’t force yourself.”
“I know.”
There were no evening exams scheduled, so after dinner, Lin Sui and Zhu Huan strolled leisurely back to the dormitory.
As they approached the dorm building, Lin Sui suddenly stopped in her tracks.
“What’s wrong?”
Zhu Huan looked up from her phone, giving Lin Sui a puzzled look.
Noticing Lin Sui’s direct gaze toward the dormitory building, Zhu Huan paused, then followed her gaze and instantly understood.
“Is that for you? Well… I’ll head back then. You two can chat.”
Lin Sui glanced at Zhu Huan, but before she could say anything, Zhu Huan had already hurried toward the dormitory building.
As she passed Wen Xiangzhu, who was standing under the streetlight, Zhu Huan seemed to say something with a cheerful smile.
Lin Sui’s feelings were complicated.
She hadn’t planned on seeing Wen Xiangzhu yet… because of what happened at lunchtime.
But now Wen Xiangzhu was waiting right below the dormitory building. If she didn’t go over, it would look like she was afraid.
With a resigned sigh, Lin Sui steeled herself and walked over.
“Sister.”
Wen Xiangzhu stepped forward, clasping her hands behind her back, looking sweetly innocent.
Lin Sui glanced at her, stopped, and remained silent.
This little brat, pretending to be so innocent.
“Sister, why aren’t you talking?” Wen Xiangzhu blinked, tilting her head. “Are you upset?”
“It’s not good,” Lin Sui said, her eyes narrowing slightly. “Go back. I’m going upstairs to rest.”
“Ah, but…” Wen Xiangzhu pouted. “I want to talk to you.”
“What’s there to talk about?” Lin Sui asked coldly. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Wen Xiangzhu’s pitiful expression. After a moment of hesitation, she sighed. “Fine, what do you want to say?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Wen Xiangzhu’s face lit up with a radiant smile.
“Sister, I just wanted to ask… did you feel anything at noon?”
Lin Sui froze, then her expression darkened. “At noon? I don’t remember anything.”
“Sister…” Wen Xiangzhu pouted.
Lin Sui glanced at her. “I’m warning you. I’ll let it slide this time, but don’t do it again.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, pursing her lips in a pout. “Why not? Can’t I even give you a kiss on the cheek? If you don’t like it, I’ll let you kiss me back!”
“Wen Xiangzhu,” Lin Sui said, her head throbbing. She repeated Wen Xiangzhu’s full name again. “No, listen up. I’m an Alpha.”
“I know. So what?”
“You…”
Lin Sui was so angry she nearly choked on her words.
Wen Xiangzhu was acting like a rebellious teenager who refused to listen but still tried to act innocent.
Ugh.
But Lin Sui had no interest in dealing with children.
“Fine, I’m going back to the dorm.”
Lin Sui ignored Wen Xiangzhu and walked into the dormitory building, leaving her alone under the streetlight outside, watching her go.
Her phone buzzed with apologies from Wen Xiangzhu the whole way back.
Lin Sui glanced at the messages but didn’t respond.
Stubborn and reckless, defying all rules…
A few days of cold treatment would fix her.
Noticing Lin Sui’s sour expression, Zhu Huan wondered what had happened between them. After a moment’s thought, she texted Wen Xiangzhu:
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Did you two fight?]
[Wen Xiangzhu: Not exactly… I just made Sister angry.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: What did you do?]
[Wen Xiangzhu: …I can’t say.]
Seeing this, Zhu Huan was so angry she almost laughed.
What could possibly be so secret?
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Let me guess. Did you do something?]
[Wen Xiangzhu: Mm.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Was it something intimate?]
[Wen Xiangzhu: …Mm.]
Seeing this reply, Zhu Huan’s eyes darkened, and a smirk curled the corners of her lips.
I knew it. Something that could make Lin Sui this awkward must be serious!
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: You touched her.]
[Wen Xiangzhu: Worse than that.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: …You hugged her.]
[Wen Xiangzhu: Even worse.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: ?? Then you kissed her?!]
[Wen Xiangzhu: …Right.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Six, you’re amazing! You look so delicate and gentle, I never expected you to be so fierce!]
Lin Sui emerged from the bathroom and glanced at Zhu Huan, who was pacing excitedly while clutching her phone. She chuckled softly.
“What’s up? Did your little sweetheart say something to you?”
“Ah? No.” Zhu Huan paused, then quickly corrected herself. “She said she wants to treat me to dinner.”
“Is that all it takes to get you, Eldest Miss Zhu, all worked up? How pathetic.”
Lin Sui shook her head with a smile, sat back down at her desk, and took a sip from the freshly refilled water cup.
Suddenly, she froze.
Isn’t this the cup Wen Xiangzhu gave me?
…Whatever. I’ve already drunk from it.
Lin Sui’s expression shifted several times before settling back into calmness as she continued drinking.
Zhu Huan watched her, hesitated, then ventured cautiously, “Actually, she said she wants to kiss me… I don’t know what to do, so I wanted to hear your thoughts.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Lin Sui suddenly choked on her water.
“Huh? What did you say?!”
“She wants to kiss me,” Zhu Huan repeated, watching Lin Sui’s reaction closely. “Why are you reacting so strongly?”
“It’s nothing.” Lin Sui forced a smile, setting down the cup. “But isn’t it a bit early?”
“Early? We’ll both be adults by the end of the year, and we’re graduating next year.”
Zhu Huan raised an eyebrow. “We’ll be old enough to get married right after graduation. Is that too early?”
Lin Sui: “……”
There’s a point to that.
“Your reaction… you haven’t done anything with Jiang Wanwan, have you?”
Zhu Huan looked at her curiously. When Lin Sui remained silent, her eyes widened slightly. “No way! You two are officially together, and you haven’t done anything at all?”
“Kissed?”
Lin Sui: “…… No.”
“Hugged?”
“No.”
Zhu Huan took a deep breath. “Then hands? You must have held hands, right?”
“No.” Lin Sui paused. “Maybe accidentally touched hands once.”
Hearing this, Zhu Huan laughed in exasperation.
“You’re… so proper it’s almost unnatural.”
Lin Sui glanced at her and said nonchalantly, “It’s not like I’ve been through a sea of flowers like you, Eldest Miss Zhu.”
“But come to think of it…”
Zhu Huan pondered for a moment. “You seem closer to Wen Xiangzhu than you do to Jiang Wanwan.”
Lin Sui: “……”
“Don’t be absurd.”
Lin Sui’s mind froze for a moment before she hastily denied it.
“Don’t mention her name.”
“Alright, alright. Then shall I experience the joy of kissing for you first?” Zhu Huan teased.
Lin Sui’s expression remained stern. “Suit yourself.”
After that, Lin Sui didn’t see Wen Xiangzhu again.
Not until after the exams, when they were packing their bags and getting into the car to go home, did they meet again.
“Sister.”
Wen Xiangzhu sat to the side, looking like she’d done something wrong. Even her voice was timid.
Lin Sui glanced at her, quickly looked away, and lowered her head to continue scrolling through her phone.
Seeing this, Wen Xiangzhu pursed her lips and glanced at the driver up front, then said nothing more.
The traffic today was unusually heavy, and they were stuck in a jam.
Lin Sui had already finished watching several video commentaries and still hadn’t arrived. She frowned, feeling uncomfortable in her seat. She looked up and stretched slightly, noticing Wen Xiangzhu slumped weakly by the window, not moving.
Is she carsick?
Lin Sui’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. Though she was reluctant to show concern, she couldn’t help but worry about Wen Xiangzhu’s condition.
Normally, Wen Xiangzhu didn’t need motion sickness pills for this trip. But with the traffic jam and the likelihood of it lasting, Lin Sui worried about her.
After a moment’s hesitation, Lin Sui asked, “Uncle Wang, where are the motion sickness pills?”
“Here.” Uncle Wang, driving up front, retrieved a pill from a compartment.
Wen Xiangzhu had reacted the moment Lin Sui spoke. She opened her eyes, weakly looking at Lin Sui, her gaze brightening with hope.
Lin Sui searched everywhere in the car and finally found a bottle of mineral water.
But the water was cold.
After a moment of hesitation, she still handed the water and medicine to Wen Xiangzhu.
“Take your medicine. The water’s a bit cold, but you’ll have to make do.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, took the medicine, and asked softly, “Do you have any hot water?”
Hearing this, Lin Sui glanced at her.
Come to think of it, the water in her thermos should still be hot, but she’d already drunk from it…
Lin Sui hesitated. “My thermos… but I’ve already had some. Where’s your cup?”
“My cup.” Wen Xiangzhu pursed her lips and shook her head. “I don’t have any water.”
Lin Sui frowned. “But…”
“I don’t mind,” Wen Xiangzhu said, looking at her. “Besides, Sister can pour some into my cup, and I’ll drink it from there.”
With that, Lin Sui reluctantly agreed and poured a little of her own water into Wen Xiangzhu’s cup.
Wen Xiangzhu waited obediently, took the cup, and swallowed the medicine.
Then she blinked and stared at Lin Sui for a long moment.
“Sister.”
“Hmm?”
“You’re not angry with me anymore?”
