After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 3
Never in her life had Lin Sui imagined she’d be helping an Omega buy inhibitors.
This was her first time setting foot in one of these pharmacies specializing in Omega supplies.
The salesperson, a young Omega, greeted Lin Sui with a standard smile. “Welcome! What can I get for you?”
“Inhibitors.”
“What scent do you usually use?”
Lin Sui was taken aback. “I… it’s not for me. I don’t know.”
“Huh?” The salesperson blinked in confusion, then smiled knowingly. “Oh, you’re buying for your girlfriend! Why don’t you call her and ask?”
“No!” Lin Sui quickly denied it. “Just a… a regular classmate.”
She pursed her lips and, under the salesperson’s understanding gaze, pulled out her phone.
Only then did she realize she didn’t have Wen Xiangzhu’s contact information saved.
Her hands froze mid-motion, then slowly lowered the phone. “Um… she might be busy right now. Just recommend something, please.”
“Sure thing.” The salesperson didn’t press further, instead showing her several inhibitor scents and enthusiastically promoting their Blocker Patches.
“They’re amazing! Alphas who’ve tried them all say they’re fantastic!”
Lin Sui was momentarily bewildered. “Isn’t this supposed to be for Omegas? Why…”
“Because it works too well. Even Alphas are getting jealous,” the salesperson said with a mysterious smile.
Lin Sui felt a strange warmth creeping up her ears, but she maintained a calm facade. “Then wrap it all up. I’ll pay by card.”
“Right away.”
The salesperson thoughtfully placed the items in a black bag to conceal their contents.
By the time Lin Sui returned home, the scent of red wine had already permeated the entire villa.
A wave of worry washed over her as she hurried to Wen Xiangzhu’s room and knocked. There was no response.
She recalled hearing that Omegas can lose consciousness during their estrus period. Could that be what’s happening?
Her heart pounding, she knocked again, her fingers moving faster now.
A soft voice drifted over from the next room. “Sis, I’m here.”
Wen Xiangzhu leaned against Lin Sui’s doorframe, narrowing her eyes slightly as she studied her.
“What are you doing in my room?”
Lin Sui raised an eyebrow and walked over to hand her a bag. “I bought the blocker patches and inhibitors. Since I didn’t know what scent you prefer, I got a little of each. Use them as you see fit.”
“Mm,” Wen Xiangzhu replied weakly, not taking the bag. Her gaze lowered, long lashes obscuring her eyes. “Sis.”
“Hmm?”
“Sis’s pheromones smell like fir.” Wen Xiangzhu paused. “It’s… very nice.”
Lin Sui: “……”
“Are you feverish or something?”
Wen Xiangzhu glanced up at Lin Sui, her eyes glistening with a wine-like intensity that was strangely alluring.
“Sis, using too many inhibitors can have side effects, you know.”
“So?” Lin Sui raised an eyebrow, suddenly making a connection. A cold smile played on her lips.
“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for that Chen Huaxing? Listen, that’s not happening. You’re too young to be thinking about being marked. Omegas can only be marked once in their lifetime, but Alphas aren’t bound by that. You need to take responsibility for yourself.”
Lin Sui paused, wondering if her reaction might make her seem overly concerned about Wen Xiangzhu.
Thinking this, she added hastily, “Or else you’ll bring shame to the Lin family.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, bewildered, her lips parting and closing. “That’s not it…”
“Enough talk. Just take the Inhibitor,” Lin Sui said coldly.
As soon as the words left her mouth, the Omega before her lowered her head, looking somewhat aggrieved.
For some reason, Lin Sui felt an inexplicable irritation. She pulled out the Inhibitor from her pocket, tossed the bag aside, and tugged Wen Xiangzhu’s hand toward her.
“How do you use this thing? Do you inject it into the arm?”
Unsure of the Inhibitor’s proper use, Lin Sui glanced at Wen Xiangzhu’s still-silent demeanor. She pulled out the instruction manual, pretended to study it for a moment, and then gave Wen Xiangzhu an injection.
“That’s probably how you use it…” she murmured, releasing Wen Xiangzhu’s hand and watching for a reaction.
Within moments, the flush on Wen Xiangzhu’s face had subsided, and her eyes cleared somewhat.
Lin Sui sighed in relief. Turning back to the bag, she retrieved a Blocker Patch, then pulled Wen Xiangzhu closer again. She brushed aside her hair and collar to expose the scent gland at the back of her neck.
“Sister…”
Wen Xiangzhu seemed startled, letting out a small gasp before biting her lip and falling silent, her face flushing a deeper crimson with embarrassment.
Lin Sui pressed her lips together, her gaze fixed on the pale nape of Wen Xiangzhu’s neck.
She remembered her biology teacher describing this scent gland as being perfectly formed and exceptionally beautiful.
Suddenly snapping out of her daze, Lin Sui hastily averted her gaze.
She took the petal-shaped blocker patch in her hand and pressed it against Wen Xiangzhu’s scent gland, then quickly stepped back several paces.
“Alright, go back to your room now and take your things with you.”
With that, Lin Sui fled into her own room and slammed the door shut.
She felt her rationality slipping away, overwhelmed by the sweet, alluring aroma of the red wine, leaving her slightly dizzy.
Perhaps the scent was stronger because Wen Xiangzhu had been in her room earlier…
Taking a deep breath, she glanced at the window already thrown wide open and walked straight onto the balcony, where she sat down.
She needed to calm down.
Outside the door, Wen Xiangzhu stood frozen, unmoving for a long moment.
A faint smile played on her lips as she touched the spot on her wrist where Lin Sui had gripped her, then reached up to feel the blocker patch on her scent gland.
After a moment, as if struck by a sudden thought, she pulled out her phone and texted her desk partner:
Mengmeng, who’s Chen Huaxing?
*****
Lin Wei and Wen Wenfu returned home past eleven o’clock that night.
A faint scent of pheromones lingered in the air. Wen Wenfu reacted quickly: “Wenwen must be entering her estrus period.”
Lin Wei nodded, thought for a moment, and said, “Go take a shower first. I’ll go check on her.”
“Okay.”
Instead of going to Wen Xiangzhu’s room, Lin Wei knocked on the door of the adjacent room, Lin Sui’s. “Sui Sui, are you awake?”
Lin Sui looked away from the novel she was reading on her computer, got up, and opened the door. “Mom, what’s wrong? It’s so late.”
“I wanted to talk to you about something.”
Lin Wei was only in her early forties, but she looked much younger. Her slightly curled long hair was neatly pinned back, giving her an air of efficiency.
“Come in and talk,” Lin Sui said, stepping aside.
The mother and daughter closed the door and sat down in the room.
Lin Wei didn’t beat around the bush. “Did Wenwen enter her estrus period today?”
“Yes,” Lin Sui nodded.
Hearing this, Lin Wei lowered her gaze thoughtfully.
“We’re both Alphas and don’t really understand Omegas. But your sister has always been frail, and her heat cycles at this age are especially unstable. As her older sister, you need to keep an eye on her at school. Understand?”
“Mm,” Lin Sui replied. “I know. I just hate Wen Wenfu. I wouldn’t take it out on Wen Xiangzhu.”
“Sui Sui, your Uncle Wen and I have already gotten married…”
Lin Sui chuckled. “Oh, you secretly got married.”
“How can you say that about your own uncle?”
“Mom, he only got a job as your secretary at the company to get close to you. There’s definitely an ulterior motive. How can you not see that?”
Lin Wei sighed. “He endured the pain of having his mark removed for me. Don’t always assume the worst about him.”
Lin Sui fell silent.
She knew that Lin Wei had been bewitched by Wen Wenfu and wouldn’t listen to anything she said.
Lin Wei changed the subject. “Alright, get some rest. Study hard these next few days for the monthly exam.”
“Got it.”
******
Lin Sui had been reviewing for two straight days. Only after emerging from the last exam did she feel a sense of relief.
Regardless of whether she could answer the questions, she had filled in every bubble on the answer sheet with her best guesses. She felt confident.
“Sister Sui, let’s compare answers!” Zhu Huan rushed over, her backpack slung over her shoulder, speaking quickly. “Hurry, while I still remember—multiple choice was ACDA…”
“Stop.”
Lin Sui cut her off. “I didn’t memorize the answers.”
Zhu Huan paused, her expression resentful. “Why not? Do you know how long I spent memorizing them just to compare with you?”
“Zhu Huan, now that the exams are over, we should relax instead of dwelling on the past,” Lin Sui said. “Even if we compare answers, our scores will still be the same, right?”
After a moment of silence, Zhu Huan brightened. “You’re right, philosopher! Let’s go to the internet café! A new game came out the last few days—I haven’t tried it yet!”
“Sure.”
Lin Sui had just sat down at a computer in the internet café across from the school when she called the driver. “Uncle Wang, Zhu Huan and I are hanging out. We’ll head back later. You don’t need to wait for us.”
“Understood, Eldest Miss.”
The driver hung up, smiling as he sighed. “Just finished her exams. She definitely deserves a break.”
At that moment, someone opened the back door of the car from the outside.
Wen Xiangzhu climbed in, looking puzzled. “Uncle Wang, where’s my sister?”
“Eldest Miss is with a friend. She’ll be back later. She told us not to wait.”
“Huh?”
Wen Xiangzhu frowned, suddenly remembering the phone call Lin Sui had with Jiang Wanwan two days earlier.
Could they have gone to meet up?
With that thought, Wen Xiangzhu immediately jumped out of the car, explaining to the bewildered driver, “I’m going to find my sister. You can go back without me.”
Without looking back, she turned and walked back the way she came.
“Wenwen? Did you forget something?”
At the school gate, Lu Xiaomeng had just finished cleaning the exam rooms when she ran into Wen Xiangzhu.
“I… I’m not looking for her, Mengmeng. Do you know where Lin Sui went?” Wen Xiangzhu asked without explanation.
“Oh, her? What do you want with her? I heard she went to the internet café with Zhu Huan,” Lu Xiaomeng replied.
“Which café?”
“The one across from the school. That’s where they usually go.”
“Thanks.”
Relieved to hear that Lin Sui hadn’t gone to meet Jiang Wanwan, Wen Xiangzhu turned to leave. But Lu Xiaomeng suddenly grabbed her arm.
“Wenwen, don’t go to a place like that! It’s getting dark, and we’re Omegas. We’re not like them… You should just go home.”
“I’m not scared,” Wen Xiangzhu said.
Lu Xiaomeng grew anxious. “Why are you looking for Lin Sui? Don’t you know what happened to her at school? It’s bad enough she didn’t avoid trouble—why are you throwing yourself into it? Besides, internet cafés are full of Alphas. It’s not safe for an Omega like you to go there alone!”
“Mengmeng.”
Wen Xiangzhu’s reaction was calm as she gently tugged Lu Xiaomeng’s hand away. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
She believed Lin Sui wouldn’t let anything happen to her.
