“A pity she isn’t a ‘white lotus’ but a drunkard,” Yi Yanbai replied softly.
This only earned her a frown from Shi Ji. “I don’t care what kind of flower you are. Believe me, once you kiss, there’s no running away.”
“Is that so?”
“But I don’t know how to kiss.”
Rarely did Yi Yanbai allow her vulnerability to show, aided by the alcohol. Her phoenix eyes were filled with a sense of loss and confusion. Suddenly, both sides of her shirt were seized. A pair of hands tightened around the fabric at her waist, causing her a moment of disorientation.
With a slight tug from Shi Ji, Yi Yanbai leaned forward, forced to brace her hands against the back of the sofa.
“You’re way too weak.” Shi Ji’s head was framed by Yi Yanbai’s arms. Wearing a triumphant smirk, she crouched on the sofa and yanked Yi Yanbai’s collar.
“Let me demonstrate.” Shi Ji tapped her own lips with a finger, tilted her head back slightly, and parted her lips to reveal the tip of her tongue. “You just go straight for it. A deep kiss, using this.”
She pointed to her tongue, peeking out from behind her pearly teeth. Yi Yanbai stared fixedly at those lips, flushed and moistened by wine. She forced her gaze upward, meeting Shi Ji’s naturally flirtatious peach-blossom eyes—they were misty, seductive, and blurred.
She knows so much; she must have kissed many people.
A sense of suffocation nearly overwhelmed Yi Yanbai. She pursed her lips and shook her head. “I can’t.”
Shi Ji frowned, her dark brown pupils staring fiercely for a long moment before she spat out, “So stupid.”
She yanked the collar hard, leaning forward. In a blink, she reached out and snatched Yi Yanbai’s glasses away. In the moment it took for Yi Yanbai’s eyes to squint and adjust, her lips were claimed.
The heavy scent of wine mingled with a faint sweetness. Shi Ji moved her head slowly, grinding her lips against the other’s with raw intensity. Her long lashes brushed against Yi Yanbai’s eyelids, making her heart tremble.
Soft, like a warm cloud. Yi Yanbai relaxed her teeth, allowing the other’s blunt, reckless advances.
She doesn’t seem like an expert at all. If anything, she seemed like a child eager to show off.
The sound of Yi Yanbai’s heartbeat grew louder as her emotions began to spiral out of control. As the temperature rose, a string in her mind finally snapped.
“Do you understand now?” Shi Ji slowly pulled away, her eyes dazed. Exhausted, she sat back against the sofa and lowered her legs.
Yi Yanbai’s gaze turned deep. She lowered her eyes and leaned in close, her lips curving into a mesmerized smile. Her voice was lingering and magnetic: “I don’t understand.”
Their lips met again. Shi Ji, clouded by drunkenness, tilted her head back in submission. Yi Yanbai took her lips into her own, her slender hands gently cupping Shi Ji’s cheeks.
With her thumb stroking Shi Ji’s skin, Yi Yanbai knelt on the sofa. She wrapped an arm around the other woman’s waist and slowly closed her eyes, beginning with light grazes that deepened into a long, passionate kiss. The fragrance of wine was everywhere.
Only when the air became stifling and they were both breathless did she let go. Shi Ji looked watery-eyed and flushed. As she was released, she tugged at Yi Yanbai’s collar and squinted her eyes, requesting drunkenly, “One more time~”
Joy surged through Yi Yanbai’s eyes. She leaned down again but stopped just before their lips touched. “Have you never kissed anyone before?”
The question made Shi Ji pause, her eyes suddenly flashing with a fierce light. “Shut up.” She grabbed the collar and bit down savagely.
Yi Yanbai’s lip was bitten through, but she responded with a wild, lingering smile. She had never been this happy. She had dreamed of being like this with her—she just never thought it would be more than a dream.
The Next Morning
The morning light filtered through the curtains. In a purple-themed room, Xu Linqiu woke up feeling sore all over. The sheets beside her bore the evidence of a passionate night.
She lay on her side, her thoughts drifting. Every scene from last night replayed vividly in her mind—the eye-catching beauty, the tear mole at the corner of the eye that added so much temptation. Even though there was a hint of drunken impulsivity involved, she had carved the woman’s features, that mole, and her body into her heart.
Xu Linqiu’s eyes were filled with undisguised obsession. She could still smell the faint scent of magnolia on the woman’s skin and see those misty, inviting eyes.
I really like her.
She licked her slightly swollen lips and scanned the room. The large purple room was empty now, save for the rumpled bed. The person was gone. However, her clothes were neatly folded by the bed, and she felt refreshed—it seemed even her makeup had been removed for her.
She remembered it hurting at first, and she had even bitten the woman, but things had eventually smoothed out. To think the woman had cleaned her up while she was in pain made Xu Linqiu feel a surge of tenderness.
She noticed a metal cover on the nightstand. Lifting it, she found breakfast still steaming. Next to it was a note with a string of numbers written in bold, flowing handwriting. She traced the ink with her thumb, her eyes soft.
Yes. I’ll call her, finalize our relationship, and set a date for the next time.
The Encounter
The elevator descended to the fourth floor. When the doors opened, Yi Chenhong stepped in. She gave Yi Yanbai a fleeting glance and stood beside her.
Among all of Yi Chenqing’s personalities, the earliest one to emerge—Yi Chenhong—was the most difficult to handle. She was violent, cold-blooded, and recognized no family ties. She contained the most hidden negative traits. Yi Yanbai could do nothing with her except try to keep her from running off or give her verbal warnings.
“Please go back quickly, straighten your hair, and wash that makeup off.”
“Wait.” Yi Yanbai suddenly paused. She pushed her glasses up and stared coldly at the other. “Why are your lips swollen?”
“Why are your lips swollen?” Yi Chenhong retorted with a playful, mocking look.
Yi Yanbai kept a cold face. “I was hit. And you?”
“I was kissed by Sister Linqiu.”
That casual sentence made Yi Yanbai freeze. She looked down and saw a faint red mark on the collar of the shirt. As the elevator doors opened, Yi Chenhong walked out first. Yi Yanbai adjusted her composure before following.
“Didn’t Sister Linqiu just get back yesterday? How could she be with you? You two…”
“She was with me all night. We did everything there is to do.”
Yi Yanbai looked at Yi Chenhong’s triumphant profile. She seriously suspected the personality was showing off; if happiness could make a nose grow, hers would be several feet long by now.
But Yi Yanbai was envious. She only dared to touch or nuzzle Shi Ji when emotions ran high. Even if she accidentally left a mark, she had to be extremely careful and restrain herself from going further.
The Switch
The two were silent as they got into Yi Yanbai’s car. Suddenly, Yi Chenhong flipped the rearview mirror down. She unbuttoned a shirt button, seemingly admiring the red mark on her collarbone. This was the first time Yi Yanbai had seen the cold-blooded Yi Chenhong act like this—she was even more annoying than usual.
Still, her sister’s long-standing crush seemed to have finally come true. But if Sister Shi Ji finds out, she’ll be heartbroken…
Yi Yanbai focused on the road, so she didn’t notice the moment the woman beside her suddenly went limp against the seat. When those eyes opened again, the deep brown pupils were void of emotion—until she saw herself in the rearview mirror.
“I think you owe me an explanation for my current situation.”
The cold, clearly displeased voice reached Yi Yanbai’s ears. She frowned and pulled the car over. She looked at Yi Chenqing, meeting her dangerous gaze. “You fell asleep suddenly last night and started sleepwalking,” Yi Yanbai said calmly and seriously. “I went to find you and found you at Hongxun. You had turned yourself into… this, and you slept with someone.”
“It’s a form of ‘wish-fulfillment’ sleepwalking. It means you’ve repressed yourself for too long, so your body carried out your deepest fantasies while you were unconscious.”
Yi Chenqing had always been sensitive and prone to overthinking. Nine years ago, she had a high fever and “selectively forgotten” certain things. With the family’s agreement, they hid her true condition from her, telling her she simply had a sleeping disorder that caused sudden loss of consciousness and sleepwalking.
For years, Yi Chenqing believed it. Until today.
“So you’re saying I’ve been celibate for so long that I dreamed of doing that, so I went out and slept with someone while sleepwalking?” Yi Chenqing’s voice was dripping with sarcasm. She stared at the obvious hickey on her collar in the mirror, not to mention the ache in her body.
She could feel that they had indeed “rolled around the sheets,” and quite intensely at that, but she had zero memory of it. She would expose this full-of-holes lie sooner or later.
“Go back. Go to Hongxun and find that woman,” Yi Chenqing said coldly. “Unless you’re just lying to me.”
“Sister,” Yi Yanbai sighed. “You know I never lie. Besides, I don’t know who it was. Even if you go back now, how will you find her? Even if you have money, the boss of Hongxun is mysterious; they won’t necessarily let you see the surveillance.”
“Let’s just go back. You have an important morning meeting. Maybe you gave her your number? Perhaps she’ll call you later?”
Thinking of the meeting, Yi Chenqing instinctively looked at her wrist, only to find she wasn’t wearing her watch. She rubbed her forehead in frustration, trying to process the physical ache in her body.
How bad was that woman’s technique? Wait, I should have been the one on top. Why does it hurt so much?
Seeing that Yi Chenqing had silently accepted the situation, Yi Yanbai breathed a sigh of relief and started the car.
