After Marrying the Villain with Seven Personalities [Transmigration into a Book]) - Chapter 54
“Is it your back?” Yi Chenqing hurried over, looking at her with concern as she slowly adjusted the angle of the headboard.
“Mhm,” Xu Linqiu hummed in response. Her back had suddenly become unbearably itchy, and she tried to sit up, reaching back with her left hand.
Yi Chenqing quickly sat on the edge of the bed. Following the movement of Xu Linqiu’s hand, she lifted the back of her shirt and reached underneath to scratch the spot.
“Here?” she asked, careful not to disturb the wound. “It doesn’t hurt, does it?”
“Mhm.” The pressure was just right—very comfortable. Xu Linqiu tilted her head back slightly and closed her eyes with a smile. “It’s not like my back is the part that’s injured.”
“By the way,” Xu Linqiu continued, “didn’t they issue a patient uniform? Help me wipe down and change into it. I feel quite uncomfortable.”
“Alright, let me scratch it a bit longer first.” Yi Chenqing wrapped an arm around her waist and rested her chin on Xu Linqiu’s shoulder. Peering through the loose T-shirt, she undid the buttons. She watched her own hand moving against those beautiful shoulder blades; before long, the skin turned slightly pink. She moved to a different spot and asked, “Is it itchy here?”
“Mhm, it is once you touch it,” Xu Linqiu laughed, playfully pinching the flesh on Yi Chenqing’s arm.
After scratching for a while, Yi Chenqing finally let go. But the moment she withdrew her hand, Xu Linqiu tilted her head and captured her lips in a kiss. Yi Chenqing’s arms, which had just loosened, wrapped around her again. She closed her eyes, responding softly to the slow, rhythmic pull of the kiss, her head turning slightly as she lost herself in the moment.
Their moist lips seemed tinged with sweetness. Their tongues met—an intimate, passionate dance—accompanied by delicate, lingering sighs. Heat rose from the base of their necks to their cheeks, and their heartbeats grew thunderous. Strands of hair fell beside their faces, hiding ears that had turned burning hot.
The air between them was filled entirely with each other’s scent.
Because one of her hands was injured, Xu Linqiu could only use one arm to hold her. She pulled Yi Chenqing’s shirt from the waistband of her suit trousers, her fingertips moving inward to gently caress the curve of her waist.
“I… I’ll help you wash up,” Yi Chenqing whispered. She was the one to pull away first, breathless and nearly “escaping” in her fluster.
She’s still injured, Yi Chenqing thought; she shouldn’t overexert herself.
Xu Linqiu watched her retreating figure with a smile, tracing the moisture on her lips with her thumb.
A moment later, Yi Chenqing returned from the bathroom carrying a basin of hot water and a towel. She locked the door, drew the curtains, and knelt on the bed, keeping her gaze fixed forward with feigned seriousness.
She gripped the hem of the T-shirt, and Xu Linqiu raised her arms slightly.
“I’ll pull this arm through first. Don’t move the injured one,” she murmured. Xu Linqiu cooperated.
Faint light from outside the curtains played across her pale skin. Yi Chenqing pulled the quilt up a bit, then leaned over to wring out the towel. The basin and towels had been bought by their parents; the fabric was soft, and the hot water washed away the lingering discomfort. Xu Linqiu narrowed her eyes, watching Yi Chenqing’s attempt to remain “proper.”
The skin behind Yi Chenqing’s dark hair was already flushed bright red, yet she remained incredibly meticulous, terrified that her fingertips might accidentally graze her partner.
Smiling, Xu Linqiu suggested, “Why don’t we talk for a bit?”
“Talk… talk about what?”
“Hmm…” Xu Linqiu’s eyes flickered. “Tell me about the traits of each personality.”
Yi Chenqing soaked the towel again, wrung it dry, and slowly supported Xu Linqiu’s waist to lift her slightly. As she gently wiped her back, she spoke softly: “Courage, Persistence, Desire, Self-love, Inferiority, and Salvation.”
“These have all appeared in our story before,” she said, looking at her with gentle movements.
“Then, tell me more about them,” Xu Linqiu smiled.
Yi Chenqing set her down gently, put the towel aside, and picked up the patient gown.
“I’ll tell you later. Put your clothes on first so you don’t catch a cold.”
“Alright~”
Once the buttons were fastened one by one, Yi Chenqing changed the water and returned to peel back one side of the quilt.
“I can do this part myself,” Xu Linqiu said, feeling a hint of shyness, her eyes crinkling. “Just help me wipe my legs.”
“I’ll support your waist.”
“Okay.”
Fearing that Xu Linqiu might slip, Yi Chenqing remained silent, firmly holding her from behind.
After a long moment, Xu Linqiu finally spoke: “Fine, I can’t do it. I’ll kneel, you do it.”
She turned to face her and handed over the towel. Yi Chenqing leaned over to wet the towel again. When she looked up, her blush had spread all the way down to her neck.
She sat on the edge of the bed. Xu Linqiu wrapped her good arm around Yi Chenqing’s neck and leaned in close, teasing, “Our Qingqing is far too easy to embarrass~”
Yi Chenqing held her waist and gripped the towel tight. She could only look into Xu Linqiu’s eyes to distract herself. “Which personality do you like? I can change for you.”
“You can just… change like that?” Xu Linqiu moved her legs aside and narrowed her eyes. “In any case, just don’t let it be ‘Little Blue’.”
Thinking of those memories, Yi Chenqing paused. She looked at her sincerely and said, “I’m sorry.”
Xu Linqiu didn’t answer. That day had been very painful, and she wasn’t ready to forgive that easily. Although Little Blue might not come out again, it was best not to mention her.
“Then… how about I show you ‘Little Green’? Little Green and me.” Yi Chenqing’s lips suddenly curved into a smirk. In the blink of an eye, the corners of her eyes upturned, filled with a seductive charm.
“Little Green and you?” Before Xu Linqiu could process the surprise, Yi Chenqing tossed the towel into the basin, sending a splash of water upward, and wrapped the quilt around her to keep her warm.
She kissed Xu Linqiu’s lips. Her eyes were like silk—a kiss like a warm sea breeze, or a lingering drizzle. She proactively coaxed Xu Linqiu’s teeth open, tangling with her, her eyes reflecting both a deep allure and a strange, calm restraint.
This look sent Xu Linqiu’s heart into a frenzy. She slowly leaned over her.
Afraid of aggravating the wound, Yi Chenqing leaned against the headboard, being both obedient and proactive. Xu Linqiu deepened the kiss, looking at the woman’s flushed, delicate cheeks and lowered lashes. The look in Yi Chenqing’s eyes was more than she could endure.
The atmosphere was intoxicating. By the time they realized it, their fingertips felt damp and hot.
“Linqiu…”
A soft, tender moan sounded in her ear. Xu Linqiu kissed her obsessively. The woman’s eyes were misty, yet she still held Xu Linqiu to the side to protect her injured hand, while pulling the quilt up to cover her waist.
“That’s enough… someone might come soon,” she whispered, though she never stopped welcoming her touch.
Xu Linqiu lingered on her lips, unwilling to leave, until the sensation became too overwhelming.
Yi Chenqing nuzzled her cheek against Xu Linqiu’s and tucked herself into the crook of her neck. Her breath was warm, and it took a long time for her to catch her breath.
“Do you know? No matter how many times it happens, I can’t control myself. I just want to be under you… I want you to kiss me, to have me…” Her voice was soft and sweet, making Xu Linqiu’s heart burn with affection.
She lowered her head to kiss her hair, and they stayed in each other’s arms for a long time.
Eventually, Xu Linqiu looked down and laughed awkwardly. “I… I need to use the bathroom.”
Yi Chenqing quickly helped her up, straightened her clothes, and supported her as they walked to the bathroom. Since the patient trousers were loose, they were easy to handle. She placed some tissues in Xu Linqiu’s hand and stepped out.
When Xu Linqiu called for her, she returned and turned on the light.
After helping her back into bed, Xu Linqiu looked at her and smiled. “You should go wash up too. It’s… a bit sticky.”
“Okay.”
When she finished, Shi Ji happened to knock on the door, delivering dinner and a laptop.
“I won’t come in. You two sleep well!” Shi Ji joked and vanished in an instant.
Yi Chenqing closed the door and set up the over-bed table for dinner. It was a light meal—two dishes and a soup—fed to her as usual.
After the meal, she brought water to wipe Xu Linqiu’s face. As the soft towel brushed against her delicate skin, Yi Chenqing looked into Xu Linqiu’s bright eyes and couldn’t help but smile.
She squeezed out the toothpaste and watched her brush her teeth. Once she had finished her own nighttime routine, she saw Xu Linqiu scoot over, patting the spot next to her.
The bright overhead lights were turned off, leaving only the moonlight peeking through the gaps in the curtains. Yi Chenqing flattened the headboard and raised the bed rail on the other side. She climbed into bed, lightly hugging Xu Linqiu’s waist and resting her cheek on her shoulder.
Xu Linqiu gently squeezed her hand and whispered, “Are you tired?”
“Mhm.” Smelling the faint fragrance lingering on her, Yi Chenqing’s voice carried a hint of exhaustion.
“Then… goodnight. Tell me the stories tomorrow.”
“Mhm~”
