- Chapter 39 - The Fifth Personality
Xu Linqiu’s first instinct was to pull her hand away. She still remembered the bet—she was a woman of her word above all else.
I must remain chaste for Qingqing!
But the woman in her arms was persistent. She gripped Xu’s hand tightly, lowering her stance with a childish, tender tone: “I won’t call myself ‘Zhen’ (I/The Emperor) in front of you anymore. Don’t listen to Sister Xiao Lü (Green), okay?”
“They’re all liars. This body is clearly mine.” She turned her head slightly, looking at Xu with aggrieved, watery eyes. “Besides, I don’t even mind that you did it with them. It’s my body anyway. But how could you only do it with Sister Qingqing and not me?”
“I’m not asking for much. Just… one more round of what you just did~”
As she said this, a suspicious blush crept across her face, capturing the bashful image of a young maiden perfectly.
Xu Linqiu wavered for a split second, but her resolve quickly hardened. Her eyes flickered with a gentle, coaxing smile. “My hand is tired, Your Majesty. Next time.”
“No!” The woman was resolute, instantly reverting to her high-and-mighty persona with a cold snort. “I didn’t see you resting back when we fought for three hundred rounds! What’s wrong now? You’re lying to me for the sake of one woman?”
“I see you’ve truly had a change of heart!”
“Give you an inch and you take a mile!”
Yi Chenhuang (Yellow), fuming, tried to guide Xu’s hand back, but she was suddenly caught in a firm embrace, her back pressed against Xu’s soft form. The heat of the spring water combined with the woman’s body was overwhelming. She exhaled a breath of hot air, her face scalding as she tilted her head back and curled her lips. “So, you’ve come to your senses?”
“Yes, I have.” Xu Linqiu smiled, her brain working at high speed. She paused and said, “If you tell me why and when you first appeared, I’ll agree.”
She figured that if she could gain a clue, a minor breach of trust was a small price to pay.
Yi Chenhuang paused, her brows furrowing. “Haven’t I told you? It was because of the transmigration. I arrived five years ago.”
The moment the words left her mouth, Xu Linqiu took advantage of her distraction to pull her hand away sharply. Xu stood up quickly, moved to the opposite corner of the pool, and shook her head. “Your Majesty, you aren’t being honest.”
With the contact broken, Yi Chenhuang felt a sudden emptiness, like a wine bottle with the cork pulled out. Water rushed in where the hand had been. She slumped against the edge of the pool, looking at Xu with disappointment and stubbornness, shifting her body to try and get closer.
Seeing those pitiful, tearful eyes, Xu Linqiu almost softened. She immediately backed away further and warned: “Don’t come over here.”
The woman stopped. Her black hair, damp from the steam, clung to her face, making her skin look as white as jade. The charming beauty mark beneath her drooping eyes was framed by reddening lids as her brown pupils stared longingly.
She looked utterly heart-wrenching.
Xu Linqiu maintained the stare-down, biting the tip of her tongue to remind herself of her goal. “Think about it carefully and tell me the truth. Otherwise, I won’t come near you.”
“You really have…” The woman broke down the moment she heard that. Transparent tears began to fall one by one. She hunched over the edge of the pool, sobbing uncontrollably as she cursed Xu between gasps: “You really have moved on to someone else.”
“Is Sister Qingqing really that good? Why won’t you give me even a tiny bit of your love?”
“Then why did you take me by force back then? Why did you make me addicted to your scent, only to abandon me now…”
“You treacherous, ungrateful scoundrel, waahhh!”
“Alright, alright.” Xu Linqiu couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t stand the sound of such tragic weeping. She slowly approached and put an arm around the woman’s shoulder.
Yi Chenhuang looked up, her eyes flooded with tears, biting her lip as the droplets trailed down from the corners of her eyes.
Xu sighed inwardly. She leaned down, using her thumb to wipe away the tears, and whispered comfortingly: “Stop crying. Although you aren’t my ‘number one’ favorite, there will always be a place in my heart kept only for you.”
Xu nearly laughed at her own “scumbag” dialogue, but the woman looked at her with pure innocence, stopping her tears. “Then, if Sister Qingqing weren’t here, would I be your favorite?”
“Yes,” Xu Linqiu replied without hesitation.
Yi Chenhuang lunged into her arms, wrapping her hands around Xu’s waist and looking up, trying to kiss her.
Xu struck while the iron was hot: “Can you tell me now how you appeared?”
The woman paused, her eyes flickering. After a few seconds, she seemed to make a decision. “I do have a segment of memory from this world. But you have to promise me one thing before I tell you.”
“Fine, name it,” Xu said urgently.
Yi Chenhuang spoke slowly: “You know what I like most for you to do to me when we… do it. I want you to do that every time I appear from now on. If you miss once, you owe me once and have to make it up. Including right now.”
Xu Linqiu frowned, looking confused.
The woman’s face turned bright red, and she said bluntly: “Last time we did that, you bit it until it bled, remember? It’s still sore now. I just want you to suck my…”
“Your Majesty, an assassin!”
Panicked, Xu Linqiu grabbed the first excuse she could find to cut her off, terrified of what the woman might blurt out next.
The woman instantly recoiled into Xu’s arms, looking around frantically and calling out by instinct: “Guards! Protect me! Guards!”
Xu almost burst out laughing. She patted Yi Chenhuang’s back. “It’s okay, Your Majesty. I’m here. They’ve all run away.”
“That’s good then.” Yi Chenhuang’s sigh of relief halted. Realizing she was no longer in that era, she knew she had been tricked. she raised her head and said crossly, “Do you agree or not?”
“Yes.” After only a few seconds of hesitation, Xu Linqiu nodded. For the sake of her future with Qingqing, she was willing to make a small sacrifice.
Upon hearing the answer, the woman’s lips curled up. She eagerly knelt up in the water and drew closer. The spring water only reached her waist, and the steam swirled around her. She looked down at Xu with anticipation, her little scheme already formed.
Next time I find an opportunity, I’ll wear a mask and record a video to leave for Sister Qingqing. That way, I can drive a wedge between them, and I’ll become her favorite.
She had read a novel where the two leads fought because of something like that; after the fight, she could appear and comfort Xu. Two birds with one stone.
She smiled radiantly, wrapping her arms around Xu’s neck, her face flushed as she leaned in.
Xu Linqiu took a deep breath, gripped her waist, and said, “Get ready.”
That spot seems to be her sensitive point, Xu recalled. She cried so hard after I accidentally bit it, yet she likes it? What kind of fetish is this? Does Qingqing like it too?
Xu felt a mix of curiosity and nervousness. She composed herself, her eyes turning determined. To get the truth, she had to satisfy her today. She leaned in gently…
“Mmm.” With a soft, lingering response, Xu Linqiu closed her eyes, focusing entirely.
Sweat from the steam beaded on her forehead and slid down her cheeks, which were flushed a faint red.
Being treated like an “infant” caused Yi Chenhuang to lose all her strength instantly. In that indescribable moment, she could only lean her entire weight against Xu. She tilted her head back, exposing her pale, elegant swan-like neck. The steam condensed on her skin and trickled down her throat to her collarbone. Her skin was a beautiful shade of crimson.
Melodious sounds escaped her lips, piercing through the mist and adding a sense of vivid life to the room. Xu Linqiu swallowed lightly, focusing intently. But the woman grabbed one of her hands, pulling her… like a goldfish that never feels full, swallowing everything it encounters.
The “chaste jade” has shattered, Xu thought, deciding to go all out.
“Grand Preceptor~” A heavy breath sounded in her ear, filled with pure pleasure. “The hot spring is so comfortable~ If you satisfy me, I’ll tell you everything I know~”
This was a massive carrot dangled in front of her. Xu Linqiu paused, then became even more proactive because of that promise. The rippling water slapped gently against their waists, and the enchanting sounds drifted through the room along with the steam…
Before long, the sounds faded into heavy breathing.
Xu Linqiu thought she must be satisfied. Just as she took a breath to release her, the woman moved away on her own.
“Let’s talk up there.” She grabbed Xu’s wrist and pulled her out of the pool.
Xu grabbed a towel, broke free of the grip, and wrapped the woman in the long fabric. “Don’t catch a cold.”
The woman paused. Xu took another towel for her own shoulders, wiped the water from her face, and led her toward the circular bed. “Let’s sit and talk.”
“Okay.”
Xu Linqiu was actually surprised that “Little Yellow” was being so obedient. She had expected to be harassed until Shi Ji came to fetch them. To get the clues early was better than she could have hoped.
She smiled, but before she could even sit on the bed, she was caught off guard as the woman lunged at her, pinning her to the mattress. The bed creaked. Xu felt the world spin. She was about to say she had overestimated Little Yellow—that she wasn’t so easily satisfied after all.
But as she tried to sit up, she met a pair of lingering, obsessed eyes that held a hint of fragility. The woman pinned Xu’s arms down and questioned her in a dry, cracked voice:
“Clearly, your first time belonged to me. Why did you fall in love with them so quickly? What about me?”
Xu Linqiu: “…”
She was speechless. How could the ‘Red Boss’ (Yi Chenhong) come out now? I was just one step away from getting the clue!
Her lack of response fueled the woman’s sense of loss. She bit her lip hard and demanded: “Are you so bored of me that you won’t even speak now?”
Just as Xu was about to argue, the personality shifted again. The eyes became intensely focused as she laughed: “Fine. Since that’s the case, I’ll show you who is the most compatible partner for you.”
She leaned down and kissed Xu’s lips fiercely. Before Xu could react, she forced her way in. She kissed her passionately, recklessly, and with deep longing.
Xu looked at her closed eyes and trembling lashes. The bed curtains fluttering in the steam brushed against Xu’s back, creating an atmosphere of inseparable ambiguity. Xu sighed in her heart and began to respond gently, reaching for a fallen towel to wrap around the woman’s back.
My Qingqing… this is already the second personality change today. If I don’t find the key to this illness, it will only get worse.
Is it really because of another woman? She found herself rejecting that conclusion.
Xu decided to take the lead and ask “Little Red” for clues. She gently gripped her weak wrists. The kiss stopped. The woman paused for a moment and suddenly pulled back.
“Little Red, can you tell me the story between us?” Xu asked.
“What story? There is no story between us.”
The woman’s eyes opened. Xu was caught off guard as she looked into eyes that were melancholic, deep, and held a trace of cold indifference.
Xu had never imagined that the personality split would change someone’s character, background, aura, and even their gaze so completely. It was as if she were a brand new person—as if she had changed, and was no longer the person Xu loved.
“Don’t forget, you are just a substitute. Just a body I use occasionally to satisfy physiological needs.”
The stranger took advantage of Xu’s daze to flip her hands and grip her wrists tightly. Even her breath was cold. “What? Not content being a substitute anymore? So you started targeting my other personalities, even tricking her into marrying you?”
“Let me tell you, Xu Linqiu. Even if we are married, you will never replace her!”
