After Marrying the Evil God - Chapter 39
After Xie Chouzhuang finished his meal, Ji Sixian naturally took over the duty of washing the dishes.
Once everything was tidied up, Xie Chouzhuang began working on the assignments given in class, while Ji Sixian sat beside him with his laptop, handling some matters.
Xie Chouzhuang glanced over and noticed the word “Immortal” or something similar on the screen. He instinctively craned his neck to get a better look.
Ji Sixian had been reading a document, but when he saw Xie Chouzhuang leaning closer and closer, he reached out a hand to gently push him back. “Focus on finishing your homework!”
Having been caught, Xie Chouzhuang hugged his tablet and shuffled closer to Ji Sixian’s side, his eyes full of curiosity. “Brother, is work in the Immortal Realm handled on computers now too?”
“Human technology is constantly developing; naturally, the Immortal Realm follows suit. Most of the primary gods are currently in slumber, so communication happens mostly online. Aside from a few particularly important documents, everything else is handled via the network.”
“So that’s how it is.” Xie Chouzhuang nodded and started to shuffle back to his original spot.
However, Ji Sixian caught hold of his wife, who was about to leave.
“Brother? Um…” A soft cry escaped Xie Chouzhuang’s lips, tinged with a bit of surprise and shyness.
Following that, their gazes met, like two bolts of lightning clashing in the air to create brilliant sparks.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ji Sixian leaned down slightly and pressed his lips gently against Xie Chouzhuang’s. It was a very tender kiss. They felt each other’s warmth and breath, and their heartbeats gradually merged into one.
Despite the gentleness, when Ji Sixian slowly pulled away, Xie Chouzhuang felt all the strength leave his body, and he slumped limply into Ji Sixian’s arms.
“Finish your homework first.” Ji Sixian kissed his little wife’s slightly swollen lips.
Xie Chouzhuang gave him a glare and silently shuffled back.
Xie Chouzhuang tried to calm his mind and start his homework, but his thoughts kept drifting back to that tender kiss. Ji Sixian had always been dominant in the past; this was the first time he had seen this side of him. With a red face, he struggled to concentrate, finally breathing a sigh of relief when he finished his assignments.
“I’m going to go wash up first.” Xie Chouzhuang glanced over and saw that Ji Sixian was still busy.
“Mhm. There are quite a few things to deal with today; you don’t need to wait up for me.”
“Alright.” Xie Chouzhuang felt a slight sense of relief in his heart. Although that kind of thing was very pleasurable, Ji Sixian’s stamina was simply too good—he really couldn’t keep up. Every time they finished, he would have an aching back the next day. Shi Zhi would smile suggestively every time he saw the hickeys on his body, which was embarrassing even for someone with Xie Chouzhuang’s strong mental fortitude.
By the time Ji Sixian finished his work, it was already midnight. The lights in the bedroom were still on, and Xie Chouzhuang was sound asleep in bed. Ji Sixian gazed at him quietly; under the gentle touch of the moonlight, the boy’s sleeping face looked like a serene and beautiful painting. His hair was slightly messy, with a few strands scattered playfully across his forehead, trembling slightly with his even breathing. His long eyelashes were like two small fans, casting faint shadows beneath his eyelids. His eyes were closed peacefully, making one wonder how bright they would look when opened.
The corners of his mouth were turned up slightly, as if he were having a sweet dream, and his cheeks bore a faint flush, like they had been quietly tinted by the sunset glow.
“Don’t…” Xie Chouzhuang mumbled a few incoherent words in his sleep, carrying a unique sense of intimacy.
Ji Sixian turned the air conditioner up a few degrees and tucked the covers around Xie Chouzhuang before leaving. The lights in the room went out completely, and darkness fully enveloped the space.
When Xie Chouzhuang woke up the next day, Ji Sixian was no longer in the apartment. The food on the table was still radiating a lingering warmth, the temperature just right.
After breakfast, Xie Chouzhuang sent a message to Shi Zhi, asking him to come to the apartment. He intended to resolve the matter between Shi Zhi and the Ghost King following him.
After all, handling this in a place like a school dormitory with people coming and going would be truly inconvenient. If Shi Zhi actually discovered a Ghost King was following him, he likely wouldn’t be able to stay calm given his personality, and might even cause quite a commotion.
In comparison, his own apartment was more suitable—quiet, private, and allowing them to sit down and talk calmly.
Xie Chouzhuang cleared the dining table and poured himself a glass of fruit juice. This was juice Ji Sixian had specifically picked in the Immortal Realm and pressed for him; drinking it was not only good for the body but also helped purify spiritual energy.
Shi Zhi was clearly already awake; he rushed over within ten minutes of receiving the message.
As soon as he entered the door, Shi Zhi started looking left and right.
“What are you looking for?” Xie Chouzhuang asked, a bit puzzled.
“Something’s not right?” Shi Zhi looked at Xie Chouzhuang suspiciously. “Where’s your boyfriend? Is he not here?”
“He had things to do; he just left.”
Shi Zhi let out a sigh of regret. “I originally wanted to see what kind of ‘male fox spirit’ could lure someone like you away. Consider him lucky that he ran fast!”
Xie Chouzhuang looked at the Ghost King beside him and let out a laugh. “You’re worried about me? You should worry about yourself first.”
“Wait, Chouzhuang, don’t scare me! Is there really a ghost?” Shi Zhi looked around, but nothing happened.
“But ever since you gave me that talisman, I haven’t dreamed of that ghost again. Is it still following me?”
Meeting Shi Zhi’s gaze, Xie Chouzhuang nodded.
“No way! There really is one?”
“There is indeed a ghost following you, but it’s a bit… special.”
“Special? How special? The kind of special where he wants me to marry her?” Shi Zhi spoke without thinking, instinctively blabbing his inner thoughts. He realized it was wrong as soon as he said it, but it was too late to cover his mouth.
Xie Chouzhuang looked at him with an odd expression. “You know?”
“No,” Shi Zhi was so anxious he was practically jumping up and down. He pulled Xie Chouzhuang down to sit on the sofa and ran his hands through his hair in frustration, turning his once-tidy hair into a bird’s nest. “I don’t even know how to say it.”
Beside him, Pei Yu looked at him and let out a small smile.
Shi Zhi seemed to find it difficult to speak. “That ghost… he appeared in my dreams in the middle of the night and said I entered his room, and he insisted I marry her. I’m seriously fed up so many people entered his room, why did he target me? Could it be because I’m too handsome? Is being handsome a crime these days? Then I’m already beyond redemption!”
Xie Chouzhuang hadn’t expected Shi Zhi to be joking around at a time like this. He gave a helpless look. “Is it possible that entering the room was just a pretext, and he simply likes you?”
“Huh? Is my charm really that great? Even a ghost wants to marry me?” Shi Zhi pointed blankly at his own nose.
“The ghost haunting you is named Pei Yu. You and he were a married couple in your previous life. Because of his obsession, he was unable to reincarnate and became a ghost, searching for you for a thousand years. He wants to see you now, but Pei Yu also said that if you don’t want to meet, you don’t have to. After all, your connection belongs to a past life; he won’t force you.”
“Huh?” Shi Zhi struggled to digest Xie Chouzhuang’s words.
“He is right beside you now. Do you want to meet him?”
“Well then… let’s meet! It’s not like I’ll lose a limb or anything.” After thinking for a moment, Shi Zhi agreed.
“He agreed.” Xie Chouzhuang looked toward Pei Yu.
Pei Yu walked somewhat nervously to stand in front of Shi Zhi, slowly manifesting his form.
Shi Zhi watched with wide eyes as a handsome man in ancient clothing appeared before him, gazing at him with deep, soulful eyes.
Their eyes met, and Shi Zhi’s face instantly flushed a deep, thorough red.
Xie Chouzhuang: “…What the hell are you blushing for?” Of all the countless outcomes he had imagined, he never expected this one.
“Zhizhi.”
Hearing Pei Yu call his name, Shi Zhi’s face turned even redder; his whole being felt like it was about to catch fire.
