After Marrying the Disabled Demon Lord as a Substitute, I Ran Away with His Child - Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Some of these cultivators believed that the Xuanyun Sect simply wanted to kill the Giant Dragon to claim its corpse. If so, they expected the sect to meet its end right then and there!
However, another group of cultivators could sense that the Xuanyun Sect’s actions weren’t born of greed; rather, they were trying to buy time for the rest of them to escape. Some of these cultivators exchanged glances, their sense of justice forcing them to halt.
“If we are to confront the dragon, we should all confront it together.” “I’m going back too. If everyone finds out later that I only escaped with the help of the Demonic Cult, I’ll never be able to show my face in the cultivation world again.”
Thus, one or two people turned back, brandishing their natal soul artifacts to attack the dragon. Seeing this, a fraction of the crowd also chose to return and resist.
However, before they could fly even two steps, Xuan Mo’s low, terrifying roar thundered from the distance: “Get out!”
The cultivators who wanted to help instantly doubted the Xuanyun Sect’s true intentions. They probably really are just greedy! They’re just afraid we’ll go back and compete for the dragon’s remains! Fuming, these cultivators turned and left for good. Fine, let the Xuanyun Sect fend for themselves.
In reality, it was Zuo Siqiu’s idea for Xuan Mo to drive them away. Their teleportation device couldn’t carry too many people; to save as many lives as possible, they couldn’t let those people stay and risk it. Besides, if everyone failed to defeat the dragon and the Xuanyun Sect teleported out while the “righteous” helpers perished, the Demonic Cult’s reputation would be even worse.
…
By now, the Freezing Pills and Spider-Silk Pills had trapped the Giant Dragon. However, every time the dragon thrashed its head or swung its tail, it snapped several strands of silk or shattered the ice encasing its body. Still, it could not move entirely freely.
Zuo Siqiu channeled all her spiritual energy into her eyes, searching for the location of the restriction.
A moment later, Xuan Mo spoke to the group: “It’s at the center of its brow—a Soul-Binding Stone etched into its flesh. Shatter that stone!”
Zuo Siqiu followed his gaze and indeed saw a tiny black dot at the center of the dragon’s forehead, flashing with an eerie, dark-red glow. Xuan Mo’s body rose into the air along with his wheelchair. He concentrated his aura into a sharp sword and thrust it toward the dragon’s brow. The other sect members unleashed their ultimate techniques as well.
Even though the dragon’s movement was restricted, its offensive power hadn’t diminished. With a slight shudder of its body, the air exploded with a deafening sonic boom. Zuo Siqiu’s ears rang, and she felt a liquid trickling out. She wiped it away—it was red blood.
This dragon was far more powerful than they had imagined. It was a divine-grade beast; without the “protagonist aura” of the main characters, defeating it was incredibly difficult. Zuo Siqiu, with her low combat stats, didn’t dare step forward. She simply took out the last of her offensive pills and pelted the dragon like they were free.
The Explosive Boar Pills were useless; the sound of their explosions was quieter than the dragon’s own sonic booms. However, the Stink-Fart Pills actually caused the dragon to daze for a split second.
Xuan Mo seized the opening to strike the brow. But the stone wasn’t ordinary; it was divine-grade. Even Xuan Mo’s full-power strike only managed to create a tiny, almost invisible crack.
The daze lasted only an instant, after which the dragon became even more violent. It snapped most of the spider silk binding it. Zuo Siqiu was out of offensive pills. Several sect members were heavily injured, yet the stone remained intact save for that one tiny crack.
“Venerable One, we have to retreat! We can’t handle this!” Yan Jiaojiao screamed.
Zuo Siqiu frowned deeply. While regrouping with the sect, she fumbled through her pouch, desperate for anything that could help. Suddenly, nine Passionate Illusion Pills appeared in her hand. These were refined using the core of a Phantom Nine-Tailed Fox. She had made ten originally. Why were there only nine left?
There was no time to think. She threw all nine into the air.
The change happened in a flash. The dragon was mid-roar when the nine pills flew straight into its mouth. It twisted twice, and then… the entire dragon went still.
The Xuanyun Sect members had fully gathered, preparing to use the teleportation device. But then they saw the dragon shake off most of the remaining ice. Its roars grew more frequent, but its aggressive aura slowed down. The red light in its eyes dimmed, replaced by occasional low whines.
The sect members were baffled. “What’s wrong with it? Madam, what did you feed it?”
“I gave it nine Passionate Illusion Pills made from a Phantom Nine-Tailed Fox core,” Zuo Siqiu said. Amidst their shocked stares, she shrugged. “I don’t know what they do. I haven’t tested them yet.”
Xue Mo asked, “What formula did you use?” “No formula,” Zuo Siqiu said. “I just threw some non-conflicting materials into the furnace and this came out.”
Xuan Mo looked at the dragon and told the group: “The Phantom Nine-Tailed Fox is an expert at creating illusions, specifically carnal ones. In all likelihood, this dragon is now in heat. In its illusion, there is probably a female dragon nearby.”
He immediately ordered: “Keep attacking!”
This was the perfect window. The dragon had retracted its offensive aura. As a male dragon, it knew that courtship wasn’t always smooth; the female might resist, struggle, or even harm him. But he couldn’t hurt her; he had to conquer her to sire offspring.
Every attack from the Xuanyun Sect made the dragon roar, but surprisingly, it didn’t retaliate! They struck the stone on its brow over and over. Even a divine-grade stone couldn’t withstand a continuous siege from so many people.
As a corner of the stone broke off, the dragon’s state shifted. It regained partial consciousness. It could see a “female” attacking its brow, a place where a god had once placed a restriction to enslave it.
Zuo Siqiu knew breaking the stone was now just a matter of time. By the time the stone was half-shattered, the effect of the pills had worn off, but the dragon didn’t attack. Having recovered half its mind, it knew these low-level cultivators were helping it.
When the stone finally shattered completely, the red light in the dragon’s eyes vanished, replaced by a deep azure. It let out a long roar toward the sky and spoke: “You have freed me. I shall never be bound again. What do you desire? As long as it is within my power, I will grant it.”
Xuan Mo turned to look at Zuo Siqiu. The rest of the sect followed suit.
Zuo Siqiu was thrilled, her cheeks flushed. “I get to make a request?” Xuan Mo nodded. “Without your Passionate Illusion Pills, we never would have broken that divine stone.”
The dragon looked at Zuo Siqiu. It now realized the female dragon hadn’t been real and felt a bit disappointed. But I was still grateful. “Female cultivator, what do you want?”
“Can I have two things?” Zuo Siqiu asked. The sect members gasped. Madam, you’re bold! This is a divine beast!
The dragon nodded, unsurprised by human greed, but it didn’t dislike her. Zuo Siqiu’s greed didn’t feel malicious.
Zuo Siqiu held up one finger. “I want a drop of your blood. Just a teeny-tiny-tiny-tiny drop.” The Demonic Physician nearly fainted with excitement. Xuan Mo’s eyes flickered; Dragon Blood was a top-tier ingredient even in the God Realm. Was she asking for it to cure him?
The dragon bowed its head slightly, and a drop of blood the size of a sesame seed appeared before her. Zuo Siqiu quickly bottled it in her best vial.
Then she held up two fingers. “Second, I want one of your scales.” “Why?” the dragon asked. “Do you wish to summon me in times of trouble?” Zuo Siqiu was shocked. “Your scales can do that? I just wanted to grind it into powder for alchemy.” She wanted to see what kind of pill a dragon scale could make.
The dragon was amused. “The pills you fed me earlier… Did you make them yourself?” Zuo Siqiu nodded. She received two scales. “One for your alchemy,” the dragon said, “and one to keep. If you are ever in danger, crush it, and I will come to your aid.”
What a deal! Zuo Siqiu thought. Buy two, get one free, and the bonus is worth more than the purchase!
The dragon swung its tail and vanished. As it left, the spiritual energy in the realm began to dissipate. Plants withered, and the very earth lost its luster. Zuo Siqiu checked her storage bracelet; thankfully, the treasures she had already pocketed hadn’t turned into trash.
She handed the blood to the Demonic Physician. “Can this cure the Venerable One?” He took it with trembling hands. “With this, every doctor in the world will envy me! Yes, this will definitely solve the Venerable One’s current problem.”
Yan Jiaojiao’s eyes lit up. If the Venerable One isn’t a paralytic anymore, doesn’t that unlock more… positions? I can finally give them those erotic art books I’ve been collecting.
Zuo Siqiu then gave one scale to Xuan Mo. “Here, use this to call for help if you’re losing a fight!” Xuan Mo didn’t take it. “The one most likely to lose a fight is you.” “You don’t want it? It’s good stuff!” She waved to the other one. “Take it, I have another.”
Xuan Mo hesitated, but the Demonic Physician whispered: “Venerable One, take it. Madam was brave enough to use a Nine-Tailed Fox core for alchemy. If you leave both with her, they’ll both end up as pills.” Xuan Mo finally took it.
As they walked toward the exit, Zuo Siqiu suddenly tried to “fix” her earlier behavior. “That scale wasn’t a gift, by the way! I’m using it to pay off my debt! I’m selling it to you! Now you’re the one who owes me. Keep a tab; you’re paying me back now!” Xuan Mo refused to play along. “You said ‘give,’ not ‘repay.'” Zuo Siqiu argued and even tried acting cute, but Xuan Mo wouldn’t budge. He enjoyed being her “creditor” too much to give up the opportunity.
…
When they finally emerged from the crumbling entrance of the Milong Secret Realm, the cultivators waiting outside sighed in relief and shock.
“They actually escaped the divine beast!” “Maybe they killed it. Look how the realm has decayed.”
Suddenly, the dragon-shaped entrance shattered into rubble. The realm had completely collapsed. The crowd looked at the Xuanyun Sect with newfound awe and fear. They didn’t dare ask the cultists, so they swarmed Zuo Mudong, who had returned to Long Xiaotian’s side.
“How did the Xuanyun Sect defeat the beast?” “Why did the realm collapse?”
Zuo Mudong wouldn’t say a word. The Passionate Illusion Pill was her sister’s secret weapon; she wasn’t about to leak that to anyone. She remained silent even when Long Xiaotian and his sister asked.
The crowd watched as Zuo Siqiu handed over piles of treasures to Zuo Mudong. Since Zuo Siqiu lacked enough storage artifacts, she had to take them out bit by bit for her sister to store. The onlookers’ eyes turned red with envy, especially the Long family.
This was supposed to be theirs! Not only did they lose the treasures, but their ancestral realm was destroyed! But they didn’t dare attack. The Xuanyun Sect were freaks who fought divine beasts charging at them would be suicide.
Just then, the Long Family Head and elders arrived. Seeing the ruins, they went mad. “Unacceptable! We allowed you in to find your own fortunes, yet you destroyed our realm!” “Who did this? The Long family shall be your sworn enemy!”
Before the threats could finish, the Long family disciples rushed forward to hold back their elders. “Great-Grandfather, calm down! Don’t mess with the Xuanyun Sect!” “Father, stop! They just fought the divine beast and won! Even the beast was no match!” “They are terrifying! Grandpa, don’t go and get slaughtered!”
The Family Head and elders, missing crucial information from the past few hours: “???” “!!!”
What? The Xuanyun Sect defeated the divine beast? Impossible! Since when did they have that kind of power? Is that even possible in this world? That’s God-level strength!
Should we still charge? Charge my ass! We’re not going anywhere near them!
