After Marrying the Disabled Demon Lord as a Substitute, I Ran Away with His Child - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Xuan Mo’s punishment did not last long.
As the moon rose over the branches, Yan Jiaojiao, who had been driven to a frenzy of rage by Fu Gui, suddenly calmed down. She turned to Xuan Mo and said, “Lord, it’s late. Aren’t you going back tonight to accompany the Madam to sleep?”
The icy chill Xuan Mo had wrapped around Fu Gui was instantly withdrawn.
Little did he know, he was still late.
By the time he returned, Zuo Siqiu was lying on the bed clutching the rooster, appearing to be in a state of delirium. The elixir the Demon Doctor had given her could suppress the poison in her heart, but it could not cure it.
Hearing the sound beside her, Zuo Siqiu squinted her eyes. She saw a handsome man, carved like an iceberg, approaching her. He released a seductive, chilling aura that was incredibly tempting. She let go of her hands, and the rooster, which had been nearly strangled by her grip, immediately jumped up and scrambled away, flapping its wings.
Zuo Siqiu stood up, took two steps forward, and fell directly into Xuan Mo’s embrace. She pressed her face against his leg, even nuzzling it, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance. “Why did you come back so late?”
She felt that something was wrong with her behavior and shook her head slightly, but she couldn’t focus her mind. After a moment, she looked up, her eyes flushed at the corners, and gazed softly at him. “I saw Yan Jiaojiao take Fu Gui away. Is she going to kill her? If she does, how will we find the evidence against my Master?”
Xuan Mo sighed. “This is not for you to worry about.”
How could she not worry? This was a major villain from the original book, one who threatened her very life. Yet, for some reason, hearing Xuan Mo’s words made her feel a sudden sense of relief.
Gradually, her gaze grew more dazed. She climbed up to sit on Xuan Mo’s lap, her burning hands reaching out to touch his face—feeling his straight nose, his cold yet slightly soft cheeks, and his sharp jawline. She felt the hard bone beneath his cool skin; to her, this coldness was like a drug, an irresistible attraction she couldn’t refuse.
In her hazy thoughts, Zuo Siqiu suddenly recalled the “disabled tycoon” web novels she used to read, where many male leads were powerful villains in wheelchairs. Those stories were “spicy” and “steamy,” and after reading them, she had often found them thrilling. Sometimes, she even had dreams about them that she was too embarrassed to mention.
Now, she seems to be having such a dream again. The man in the dream had a face covered in frost, making his features blurry, but his eyes were fierce. Zuo Siqiu reached out to cover his eyes, whispering unintelligible words. Then, she felt the man wrap his arms around her waist, whispering in her ear for her to be more “active.”
She frowned, wanting to refuse to maintain her dignity—how could a girl be the active one? But the burning heat in her heart urged her to hurry. Having not had such a dream in a long time, she was impatient yet meticulous. She thought: Since this is a disabled tycoon male lead, I should take it slow and let him witness the rich theoretical knowledge of a professional reader.
When he was impatient, she would soothe him; but when he refused, she grew anxious. Finally, she used her “absolute advantage” to control the disabled tycoon, making him behave obediently. She thought she was doing great, but dreaming was exhausting. Her waist grew sore, her legs went weak, and she eventually collapsed in his arms, unwilling to move again.
Who knew this “tycoon” was a fake cripple? He flipped her over and engaged in another hundred thousand words of “harmonious” activity.
…
The dream lasted until dawn. When Zuo Siqiu opened her eyes, the room was bright with daylight. She was lying on the bed, and Xuan Mo sat in his wheelchair beside her, his face dark.
The memories of last night’s dream instantly flooded back. Although fragmented, she remembered the gist of it. She was stunned. Was that not a dream? Did I actually sleep with Xuan Mo?
She sat up tremblingly and checked her clothes. Though a bit messy, they were still on her. She then carefully checked her physical condition. There was still a stifling heat in her chest, but otherwise, she felt fine.
Her body seemed okay, but Xuan Mo looked exactly like a “virtuous man” who had been bullied by a “scoundrel woman.”
She asked fearfully, “Lord, last night…”
Xuan Mo’s face darkened further. “What exactly did you dream about last night?”
Zuo Siqiu’s face turned bright red. She had dreamed she slept with him.
Xuan Mo said coldly, “From now on, do not mention ‘building an image’ for me, and do not do things that invite speculation. Do not let yourself become so immersed that your mind is clouded, disturbing me with your dreams at night.” Having said that, he turned and left.
Zuo Siqiu let out a quiet sigh of relief. From the look of it, nothing had actually happened.
…
After Xuan Mo left, Zuo Siqiu found the Demon Doctor again, looking distressed as she described her condition. “Although the medicine makes me feel better for a while, the heat returns soon after. This can’t be a normal fever, right?”
The Demon Doctor was also surprised and reached out to take her pulse. His eyes flashed with shock. Why hasn’t the Lord dual-cultivated with her yet? If she holds it in any longer, she’ll explode! He recalled Xuan Mo’s instructions and said, “Do not worry, Madam. You will be better in a few days.”
He then hurried to find Xuan Mo.
“Lord, what is going on?” the Demon Doctor burst out. “If you are with her every night, why haven’t you dual-cultivated? Don’t you know her body can’t withstand that toxin much longer?”
Xuan Mo’s expression remained neutral, but his eyes were turbulent. After a moment, he lowered his gaze, the tips of his ears turning red behind his hair. “I was not… ‘with her’ every night before.”
The Demon Doctor: “???” The whole cultivation world knows about this, and now you’re telling me it’s fake?
He couldn’t wrap his head around it. “But Lord Yan Jiaojiao said the Madam often has… marks of affection on her body.”
Xuan Mo regained his composure, his gaze cold and clear. “If it weren’t for the benefit of outsiders, why would she leave those marks? Do you think I’m so stingy I wouldn’t even give her a few spirit pills to heal them?”
The doctor was baffled. “Why put on a show for outsiders?”
Xuan Mo let out a dark sneer. “How should I know what she’s thinking? On our wedding night, she took it upon herself to arrange all this. I was merely curious to see how far she would go. Otherwise, I would have killed her that night.”
The Demon Doctor fell silent, his heart full of complex emotions. If this news got out, it would rock the Xuanyun Sect. But he knew better than to spread it. He swallowed the secret and spoke with a gentle smile: “Regardless of the past, Lord, if you do not dual-cultivate with the Madam tonight, she will not live much longer.”
Xuan Mo frowned deeply. “Last night, she had a very absurd dream and clung to me for a long time. I thought she would take action, so I didn’t stop her…”
Are you saying you “did your best”? The doctor thought. He couldn’t believe his Master, who had dominated the Demon Realm and shaken the heavens, was so “pure” regarding dual cultivation! He said earnestly, “Lord, such things shouldn’t always depend on the woman being active.”
Xuan Mo glanced at him with a look that said: Do I look like a paralyzed man who can be ‘active’?
The doctor coughed. “I heard from Yan Jiaojiao that the Madam said when she is with you, your aura guides her. After all, the Madam is delicate and lacks stamina.”
Xuan Mo looked away as if hearing something shameful. The doctor found this side of his Master fascinating. He stroked his non-existent beard and acted like an expert. “I’ve tried the ‘woman on top’ position; it is demanding for the woman. You should start slow, and once she can handle it, it will be even more exhilarating than usual.”
Xuan Mo sneered and turned to leave. “As if I wouldn’t know.”
The doctor called out after him like an old father, “Lord! Tonight is the deadline! No more delays!”
…
Xuan Mo was fuming. He never thought he would be cornered into such a situation. As the Demon Sovereign, shouldn’t he do as he pleased? Yet here he was, following a doctor’s orders.
In his rage, he went back to the Demon Prison. Since Fu Gui caused this, she would bear the brunt of his anger.
Meanwhile, Zuo Siqiu went to Fu Gui’s cave. Fu Gui hadn’t returned, and Yan Jiaojiao and Xuan Mo were nowhere to be found. She hoped to find clues there. Since Fu Gui had been a “cauldron” for the Bixia Sect Master, she must have left some evidence behind.
If only she had read the original book more carefully! The author spent too much time on romance and didn’t describe the Master much. Otherwise, she’d have the “cheat code” of the plot to expose him.
She brought the rooster along, intending to walk it, but the bird helped her find a small storage pouch. She picked it up, and upon seeing the familiar embroidery, her breath hitched.
