After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 16
Chi Ye did not give up and continued slicing the potatoes patiently.
Wen Zhixue took the opportunity to compliment her.
“You’re actually doing pretty well.”
Seeing that Chi Ye was getting better with the knife, Chu Jin turned her attention to other ingredients.
She picked up some leafy greens and had just plucked a couple when she suddenly heard the sharp sound of a knife slipping nearby.
The blade missed the smooth surface of the potato, veered off course, and struck the cutting board directly.
There was a loud metallic clang.
Right after that, Chi Ye let out a soft hiss and furrowed her brows.
Blood began to seep from the tip of her left index finger.
“Ah, you’re hurt!” Wen Zhixue cried out anxiously. She hurried around the sink and rushed to Chi Ye. “Are you alright?”
Chu Jin also quickly put down the vegetables in her hands and looked over.
She saw that Chi Ye’s fingertip had been cut open. Bright red blood flowed from the wound, and it looked fairly deep. Chi Ye seemed unaffected by the pain and simply stared at the blood on her finger in a daze.
Everyone gathered around her, each of them frowning in concern.
“Are you okay?”
“That cut looks pretty deep.”
Bai Xuqing suddenly remembered something and raised her voice. “Where’s the first aid kit? We need to bandage it.”
“I don’t know,” Wen Zhixue replied, shaking her head anxiously.
In the livestream chat, viewers flooded in with concerned comments.
“That cut looks serious.”
“Why isn’t the production team doing anything? Someone should help her.”
“Poor Chi Ye.”
“Don’t they even have a first aid kit?”
Then someone asked another question.
“Where’s Chu Jin?”
“She was just here. Where did she go?”
At that moment, a clear female voice came from off-camera.
“I found the first aid kit!”
Everyone, including the camera, turned toward the voice.
Chu Jin was seen running over with the kit in hand, her steps quick and urgent.
As soon as she realized Chi Ye was injured, she had rushed off to find the kit. After asking the production crew, she managed to locate it in a cabinet near the entrance.
The others made space for her. Chu Jin knelt beside Chi Ye, opened the kit, and pulled out cotton swabs and iodine. She leaned down slightly, her expression calm and focused. She gently wiped away the blood, then disinfected the wound with iodine.
Her hands moved softly, as if afraid to cause any more pain.
While she applied the antiseptic, Chu Jin looked up and asked, “Does it hurt?”
At that moment, she was no longer thinking about the cameras. All she could focus on was how someone like Chi Ye, who had always lived in comfort, could endure such a painful injury.
And the cut was deep. It must have hurt a lot.
Chi Ye pressed her lips into a thin line and replied in a low, hoarse voice, “I’m fine.”
Although Chu Jin was flustered, she did her best to stay composed. She took out some medical powder and gently sprinkled it over the wound to stop the bleeding.
Finally, she wrapped it carefully with gauze and tape.
She didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly and concentrated on every step. Only after the bandage was secured and the tape was in place did she finally let out a sigh of relief.
She raised her hand to her forehead and realized that a layer of sweat had already formed.
But Chi Ye looked even worse than she did.
Her face had turned pale at some point, and she looked completely drained. Her eyes were unfocused, as if her mind had drifted far away.
Chu Jin felt her chest tighten and quickly held her arm. “Are you okay?”
The moment she was supported, Chi Ye lost all strength in her body and leaned heavily against Chu Jin.
Chu Jin quickly wrapped her arms around her to keep her steady.
Just then, Yan Sisi spoke up.
“She’s fainting from the sight of blood.”
The others thought she was just guessing but quickly agreed.
“That really does look like a blood phobia reaction.”
“My friend has the same problem,” Zhou Meng added. “She reacts just like that.”
“Let’s help her lie down on the sofa and rest,” Bai Xuqing suggested.
She moved forward to help support Chi Ye, but before her hand could reach her, Chu Jin had already shifted her grip and lifted Chi Ye into her arms.
Chi Ye’s forehead rested gently against her shoulder, and her eyes had already closed.
Chu Jin had encountered similar emergencies during previous filming projects. That was why she had taken the time to study basic first aid. Treating wounds like this was no problem for her.
As for blood phobia, she had looked into it before because someone she used to know had the same condition.
Once symptoms appear, the person needs to lie down and rest. After a while, they will gradually regain consciousness.
Chu Jin couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion. She never expected the first person she would see with this condition in real life to be Chi Ye.
“I’ll take her upstairs to rest,” Chu Jin said, walking steadily toward the staircase and heading for the second-floor bedroom.
Bai Xuqing nodded. “Alright. Be careful on the stairs.”
She fought back the urge to squeal with excitement, savoring the sweet moment between the two. If only she could follow and see more of it.
Chi Ye had already started to lose consciousness when Chu Jin was bandaging her wound. It felt like a curtain slowly falling over her vision as darkness crept in bit by bit.
Eventually, everything faded into complete unconsciousness.
She could hear Chu Jin’s voice. It sounded like Chu Jin was calling her name. She could also feel herself being lifted into someone’s arms, but she had no strength to open her eyes.
At the director’s instruction, the cameraman did not follow them upstairs. The others were also told to remain on the first floor.
Even the camera in the Rose Room had been turned off.
Chu Jin gently laid Chi Ye down on the bed, removed her slippers, and pulled the blanket over her. Following what she had learned, she quickly opened the window to let in fresh air.
A few moments later, the director arrived with the team doctor. After checking Chi Ye’s condition, the doctor confirmed that she had fainted from the sight of blood. He assured them it was nothing serious and said she would recover after some rest. He handed Chu Jin a few candies and told her to give one to Chi Ye once she woke up.
Chu Jin volunteered to stay and take care of Chi Ye. She told the others to continue filming, and said she would return to the kitchen once Chi Ye regained consciousness.
“Thank you, Madam,” the director said before leaving. “Call me if you need anything.”
Chu Jin gave a soft response and closed the door. As she turned back to the bed, she suddenly realized the director had called her “Madam,” which meant he knew about her relationship with Chi Ye.
But she did not have time to think about it. She simply sat down beside the bed and waited for Chi Ye to wake up.
Her living expenses for next month had not been transferred yet. And there was still the promise of one billion yuan after three years. Chi Ye needed to wake up soon.
Chu Jin’s gaze quietly studied Chi Ye’s face, gently tracing her features. With her eyes closed, Chi Ye looked even more delicate. She was like a layer of morning mist on a chilly autumn day, carrying a quiet beauty wrapped in a peaceful chill.
She never expected someone as proud as President Chi would faint at the sight of blood.
Someone so distant and elegant could also be this fragile.
About ten minutes later, Chi Ye’s eyelashes fluttered.
Chu Jin immediately noticed and softly called out, “President Chi?”
Chi Ye slowly opened her eyes.
Her gaze was slightly unfocused, and her mind seemed to still be waking up.
“You fainted just now,” Chu Jin reminded her gently.
Their eyes met. At that moment, a breeze passed through the open window, lifting the light curtains and making them sway. After a brief pause, Chu Jin looked away.
Although her mind was still a bit hazy, Chi Ye gradually remembered what had happened before she fainted. She slowly sat up and leaned against the headboard.
“Yes.” She avoided thinking too much about the blood and quietly said, “I fainted because of it.”
“That’s right,” Chu Jin nodded. She stood up, picked up a lollipop from the table, and calmly unwrapped it.
“You really scared me when you suddenly collapsed.”
That was the truth. When Chi Ye suddenly went limp in her arms, Chu Jin had panicked. A cold sweat broke out on her back. If Yan Sisi had not pointed out that it was due to blood phobia, Chu Jin would not have known what to do.
Chi Ye looked at her for a while, then suddenly asked,
“Why?”
It was a vague question, and most people would not understand what she meant. But Chu Jin understood right away.
She leaned down slightly, moving closer to Chi Ye. When she was about twenty centimeters away, she stopped. After a moment of hesitation, she raised her hand and gently pressed the lollipop to Chi Ye’s lips.
Chi Ye’s eyebrows twitched slightly, and her eyes showed a trace of confusion.
But she did not pull away.
“The doctor said you need some sugar.”
Chu Jin smiled faintly.
Hearing this, Chi Ye looked at her, then slowly opened her mouth.
Her soft pink tongue lightly touched the candy before slowly drawing it in.
“It’s very sweet.”
Chi Ye’s voice was soft and a little unclear as she spoke with the candy in her mouth.
Chu Jin paused for a moment. Then she quickly let go of the lollipop stick, swallowed almost silently, and responded with a nervous tone.
“As long as it’s sweet.”
