After Losing My Memory, I Went After My Archenemy - Chapter 13
The Strategy
A few days had passed since Xia Rou obtained Lin Xi’s contact information, but their relationship remained stagnant, causing Xia Rou to worry to the point of losing sleep and appetite.
In the dead of the silent night, the girl, who was still awake with large dark circles under her eyes, typed a sentence into the online search engine: “How to quickly become friends.”
Several results appeared. After careful filtering, Xia Rou took out her small notebook and summarized the findings into a strategy guide.
[How to Quickly Become Friends with Lin Xi]
- First: Actively say hello.
- Second: Invite her to eat together.
- Third: Go home with her after school.
After compiling her list, the Omega sitting in the chair let out a huge yawn. Only then did she contentedly close her small notebook and go to bed.
The next day.
In the morning, Xia Rou and Shen Miao met at the school gate, with a bustling crowd of people behind them. The two naturally walked together.
“Oh my gosh, you look so bad. Didn’t you rest well last night?” Shen Miao asked as they walked.
“Don’t even mention it. I stayed up all night writing a strategy guide,” Xia Rou waved her hand, yawning again as she walked.
Shen Miao offered a poor suggestion: “Didn’t you get Lin Xi’s WeChat a few days ago? Just keep poking her! Poke her day and night!”
“I can’t do that, I’ll get blacklisted! But I’ve made up my mind. Starting today, I’m going to aggressively try to ‘presence-bomb’ her!” The Omega suddenly pursed her lips, full of fighting spirit.
Just as she finished speaking, Xia Rou’s peripheral vision caught sight of a familiar figure walking not far away. She immediately shouted: “Lin Xi, good morning!”
In that moment, time seemed to freeze.
Not only Lin Xi, the person being addressed, but also the surrounding students, including Shen Miao beside Xia Rou, were stunned.
Shen Miao: !! (Should I praise your courage or your… sheer courage?)
Perhaps the surrounding people’s gazes made Lin Xi feel a little uncomfortable. Without changing her expression, she quickly responded with a brief “Good morning” and then strode away.
Everything happened too fast for Xia Rou to react.
But she could confirm that Lin Xi had greeted her back.
That was enough to make her ecstatic for the whole morning!
“What’s the situation? Did these two bury the hatchet?”
“Holy cow, a scene for the ages!”
“When did they make up?”
The chatter and pointing of the passersby rose and fell.
To avoid becoming a further spectacle, Shen Miao quickly pulled Xia Rou away from the scene.
“How was my performance just now?” Xia Rou asked smugly, the flush on her cheeks still visible.
Shen Miao said nothing, just gave a thumbs-up.
“You’re even braver than the Xia Rou I used to know.”
Her unspoken meaning was that the old Xia Rou would never, ever have done something like this.
Hopefully, when she recovers her memory, she won’t want to travel back in time to kill her present self!
“Hey, the swimming pool is that way. Where are you going?” Shen Miao quickly called out.
“I’m skipping swimming class, help me ask for leave. I’m going to audit Lin Xi’s major class.” The Omega’s voice gradually faded around the corner of the tree-lined path.
Shen Miao: “…”
Lin Xi’s major class was like reading gibberish to the layperson Xia Rou. To avoid disturbing the intently listening Lin Xi, Xia Rou’s main objective was simply to be present.
When she wanted to talk, she would express it by writing notes. Her small bag, which she carried with her, was filled with various small snacks, and she would occasionally ask Lin Xi if she wanted to eat, only to be rejected every time.
It seems she doesn’t really like snacks.
Xia Rou secretly bent her head and wrote a note in her small notebook.
After the first large lecture for the major, the next class was a large public foreign language lecture. Xia Rou carried out her mission to ‘presence-bomb’ to the end, following Lin Xi closely after class, going wherever Lin Xi went.
[Xia Rou: How about having lunch together after class?]
After sending the message, Xia Rou placed her phone on the desk, repeatedly checking every ten seconds or so to see if there was a reply.
There were less than ten minutes left before class ended.
Lin Xi calmly closed her textbook, looked down, and said lightly, “We’re so close, there’s no need to send a text.”
Hearing the person next to her speak, Xia Rou immediately smiled brightly and said, “I was afraid of disturbing your studying, so I thought you could see it when you were free to check your phone.”
“I have to eat with my club members at noon.”
…Was that a subtle rejection?
Alright.
Xia Rou felt a little disappointed.
She couldn’t skip her afternoon classes again, so she could only use every available time gap to appear in front of Lin Xi and ‘presence-bomb’ her, even if it was just a fleeting glance.
And so, dismissal time arrived. To go home with Lin Xi, Xia Rou rushed early to the bus stop outside the school to wait.
As she watched bus after bus arrive and depart, and the students waiting at the stop leave in waves, she inevitably grew anxious. Did Lin Xi already leave on an earlier bus?
I rushed here as fast as I could.
Xia Rou couldn’t help but pick up her phone and edit a text message: [Are you home already?]
Just as she was about to hit send, a tall, slender, familiar figure entered her peripheral vision.
Seeing Xia Rou there, Lin Xi was also momentarily surprised, but quickly regained her composure. After all, throughout the entire day, the other person had constantly appeared in front of her at various times and places.
“That’s great! I thought you had already left,” Xia Rou happily put down her phone.
“Are you… waiting for me?”
“Yes!” Xia Rou nodded. “You probably didn’t see the text I sent you before school ended.”
Lin Xi had seen it, but didn’t know how to reply, so she simply didn’t.
The text had said that she wanted to take the bus home with her after school.
Thinking of this, Lin Xi said directly, “We’re not going the same way.”
“It’s fine, I already prepared a route map! Although our houses are not in the same district, we can at least ride three stops together, and then I’ll get off and change buses.”
Hearing the Omega’s light tone, Lin Xi felt a momentary block in her throat and looked at her with a complicated expression, asking seriously, “Doesn’t that seem troublesome?”
She really seems different from before.
“It’s not troublesome…” Xia Rou was about to continue when the exact bus they needed arrived at the stop.
Pushed by the surrounding crowd, she hurriedly followed in Lin Xi’s footsteps and squeezed onto the bus.
Before she could even steady herself, the bus started moving again. The next moment, her entire standing body swayed uncontrollably like seaweed at the bottom of the sea.
Xia Rou swore this was the first time in her life riding a bus. It’s so crowded, so shaky, and I really want to vomit.
Why can one bus hold so many people?!
Seeing her look utterly battered, Lin Xi lowered her eyes and said helplessly, “Grab onto me.”
Xia Rou immediately latched onto Lin Xi’s waist like she was grabbing a life raft.
Hmm, it’s finally not so shaky.
And… it’s quite comfortable. Peaceful face.jpg
Lin Xi: “…”
She immediately wanted to react but held back.
After enduring the two most crowded stops, the space on the bus finally became wider. Without the jostling crowd, the sight of Xia Rou still clutching Lin Xi’s waist was very ambiguous.
“Hey, you’re almost at your stop,” the Alpha, who had been holding her back straight, whispered uncomfortably, furrowing her brow.
Seeing that the person hugging her had no reaction, she simply lifted the other person’s hands from her waist, pulling their distance apart.
“Ah, already? It’s over so quickly!” Xia Rou exclaimed as if she hadn’t heard the warning.
It was only three stops, what did you expect?
Lin Xi sighed in her heart.
The bus quickly stopped at the platform. With limited time, Xia Rou had to hastily wave goodbye to Lin Xi.
It was then that Lin Xi glanced down and noticed a small, palm-sized notebook that had fallen onto the floor. Just as she bent down to pick it up, the bus doors closed.
The cover of the notebook had no name. Just as she was wondering who the owner was, she whimsically opened the first page. A line of text was boldly written across it:
[Operation: Capture Lin Xi]
Lin Xi: “…”
She seemed to know who it belonged to.
