After Losing My Memory, I Suddenly Had A Fiancée - Chapter 21.3
“Does the owner next door moving have anything to do with you?” Ji Fanghuai asked bluntly.
Ji Fanghuai went straight to Jiang Zhi’s office as soon as she arrived. Everyone in the company was shocked. This aura was like someone coming to cause trouble, and someone dared to cause trouble for Ms. Jiang.
Jiang Zhi tried to soothe Ji Fanghuai’s emotions, saying, “Fanghuai, you can’t be angry. Tell me slowly what’s wrong.”
“Can’t be angry? I can’t do anything, I can’t do this, I can’t do that,” Ji Fanghuai was provoked by this sentence and spoke recklessly, “You are almost the same as the former husband of the cafe owner, only your methods are more subtle.”
The cafe owner’s ex-husband gave verbal orders, while Jiang Zhi acted secretly.
Jiang Zhi frowned and explained, “I dismissed Xiao Zhao. I told you the reason. I don’t know anything about the owner next door.”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t believe Jiang Zhi’s words now, saying, “Then you were the one who asked Xin Ling to call Lin Mianmian, right?”
Jiang Zhi said, “That’s Xin Ling’s private matter; it has nothing to do with me.”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t want to argue with her. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, saying, “In short, you are restricting my circle of friends in every way, not letting me contact people from the past, not letting me go back to my hometown, because all my relatives are like monsters. Only you are good to me in this world, and you just want me to live alone in this world.”
Jiang Zhi was silent and didn’t refute.
Ji Fanghuai knew she had hit a nerve. It was inevitable that Jiang Zhi wouldn’t let her contact her past.
She just hadn’t expected that after giving her a bunch of reasons, Jiang Zhi was now interfering with her social circle.
She was very angry, saying, “Jiang Zhi, do you think I can only realize my life value by marrying you and dating you? I don’t need to date; I don’t need to get married. I have gamophobia, I’m an anti-marriage activist.”
Ji Fanghuai found herself saying this with incredible certainty.
“Fanghuai.” A trace of hurt flashed in Jiang Zhi’s eyes.
Ji Fanghuai ignored her, turned, and left.
After Ji Fanghuai left, the manager asked, “Ms. Jiang, this…”
“Handle everything as previously instructed. Make small decisions yourself, and go to Xin Ling for big matters. Don’t look for me.” Jiang Zhi briefly instructed and left work early.
Ji Fanghuai had just arrived home, and Jiang Zhi followed closely behind.
Ji Fanghuai ignored Jiang Zhi, staying far away from her. A low pressure filled the room.
Aunt Chu tried to smooth things over, saying, “What’s going on?”
However, no one answered her, so Aunt Chu went to make dinner.
Ji Fanghuai didn’t even want to deal with the cat. After sitting for a while, she went to the guest room to make the bed but couldn’t find the new duvet cover.
Jiang Zhi found the duvet cover and helped her make the bed, then helplessly said, “Fanghuai, stop making a scene.”
“You think I’m making a scene?” Ji Fanghuai was especially angry that this was a very serious matter, but Jiang Zhi didn’t take it seriously and thought she was being dramatic.
She said, “Please give me my old address.”
Jiang Zhi looked incredulous, saying, “You want to go back?”
Ji Fanghuai was still in a fit of pique, and her tone was not good at all, saying, “Yes. I have amnesia. Since you don’t allow me to contact others, I will go find them myself.”
“Do you think it’s really that easy to find your past?” Jiang Zhi’s face looked somewhat displeased.
“In any case, it’s none of your business.” Ji Fanghuai said coldly.
“Fine.” Jiang Zhi left the room but did not give Ji Fanghuai the address.
Ji Fanghuai looked at Jiang Zhi’s retreating figure, wondering how they had started fighting again.
It felt like all their previous time together was an illusion.
She could accept everything else and tell herself that Jiang Zhi was doing it for her own good, but she would not allow Jiang Zhi to interfere with her friendships.
During dinner, Jiang Zhi acted as if nothing had happened. Ji Fanghuai ate a few bites in silence and then went to sleep.
But she didn’t sleep soundly at all. It was the same no matter where she went, just moving from one unfamiliar place to another.
Ji Fanghuai suddenly felt pitiful.
She had also thought about finding her relatives and friends, but if what Jiang Zhi said was half-true, wouldn’t she be rushing to cause trouble for others?
Ji Fanghuai never thought she would have a day where she felt like a burden.
As for the coffee shop, with Jiang Zhi managing it, she was dispensable.
Ji Fanghuai annoyedly hugged the pillow to her chest like a cushion.
Ji Fanghuai woke up early and started packing her luggage but didn’t know what to pack. It seemed like everything belonged to Jiang Zhi. She stood awkwardly in front of the suitcase.
Aunt Chu said, “Miss Ji, are you really moving out?”
“Mm.” Ji Fanghuai’s expression was not good.
“When a couple fights, they make up in bed,” Aunt Chu was still trying to salvage the situation. “Think more about each other. Maybe things haven’t reached the point of separation yet.”
Ji Fanghuai said, “No, Aunt Chu, goodbye.”
She hadn’t seen Jiang Zhi all morning. Ji Fanghuai called a cab and sent a message to Jiang Zhi, asking for her old address in B City.
After waiting for a long time, Jiang Zhi didn’t reply. Ji Fanghuai had to call her, but the call went unanswered.
Ji Fanghuai got even angrier, feeling that Jiang Zhi had calculated her current helplessness and was deliberately giving her the cold shoulder. She never thought that what the cafe owner said would happen to her.
Ji Fanghuai called the assistant.
The assistant answered immediately, saying, “Miss Ji.”
Ji Fanghuai asked coldly, “Is Jiang Zhi not there?”
The assistant said, “Ms. Jiang is hospitalized.”
“She was exposed yesterday, and today she’s hospitalized?” Ji Fanghuai mocked, “She really picks a time.”
The assistant’s tone was urgent, “It’s true. Ms. Jiang is in the hospital now, and her condition is very serious.”
Ji Fanghuai held her phone and started to feel uncertain. She hesitated for a long time and asked, “Which hospital is she in?”
“City Hospital.”
Ji Fanghuai thought Jiang Zhi had an upset stomach. When she arrived, she saw her lying weakly in the hospital bed.
She had just gotten out of the taxi, and the driver didn’t know she got car sickness, plus there was an inexplicable fragrance in the car. Ji Fanghuai managed to hold back her nausea with sheer willpower. Her face was still pale when she arrived at the hospital.
“What’s going on?” Ji Fanghuai asked the assistant. She didn’t expect Jiang Zhi to actually be in the hospital.
The assistant said, “Ms. Jiang has severe hemophobia. She went drinking last night and only returned this morning. When she came back, she happened to see a car accident victim being lifted off an ambulance, covered in blood, and she fainted.”
“She has hemophobia?” Ji Fanghuai remembered that Jiang Zhi disliked red things. Even her cooking was green, and her face was very pale when she disinfected the cat’s scratch.
The hemophobia seemed to have been evident for a long time, but she hadn’t noticed.
The assistant emphasized, “It’s severe hemophobia.”
Not just ordinary hemophobia.
“If it’s just hemophobia, it’s actually not that serious, is it?” Ji Fanghuai said uncertainly. She hadn’t forgotten that they were still fighting.
The assistant quickly added, “Ms. Jiang also has stomach issues.”
Ji Fanghuai knew about this, but she wondered if this was Jiang Zhi’s tactic to play the victim.
However, she could only temporarily give up the idea of going to B City.
When Jiang Zhi woke up and saw Ji Fanghuai, her eyes brightened considerably, and she said happily, “Fanghuai?”
“Mm.” Ji Fanghuai hadn’t forgotten they were still fighting.
Xin Ling’s voice abruptly cut in, “If you’re sick, just lie down properly. You have a weak body but still like to push yourself. You’re so old and still drink to drown your sorrows. What’s the big deal?”
“Shut up,” Jiang Zhi said coldly.
Xin Ling deliberately went against her, “No, I won’t shut up.”
Jiang Zhi could only lie helplessly on the hospital bed, but her eyes were fixed on Ji Fanghuai.
Ji Fanghuai didn’t look at her and took the opportunity to ask Xin Ling, “Do you know Lin Mianmian?”
“Little Lin Dàdà? She’s a new employee at our company. She’s currently helping me draw some character designs. What’s wrong?” Xin Ling raised an eyebrow.
Ji Fanghuai pursed her lips and didn’t speak.
Xin Ling added, “Jiang Zhi’s hemophobia is especially severe. I really don’t know how she managed to control herself back then.”
“What?” Ji Fanghuai was confused.
“When you were hit by the object falling from a height, Jiang Zhi was actually there, just a few meters behind you. She never told you about this, did she?”
Ji Fanghuai shook her head, “No.”
Jiang Zhi was there and had hemophobia, so wouldn’t that mean…
“In other words, she witnessed the entire process and saw you lying in a pool of blood with her own eyes. She usually faints at the sight of a little blood. I don’t know how she managed to control that kind of fear, call 120, and then wait outside the operating room the whole time. After all, hemophobia is like acrophobia, you understand?” Xin Ling heavily implied.
Ji Fanghuai never expected Jiang Zhi to be present. She was stunned and didn’t know what to say, or how she got back to the patient room.
She asked Jiang Zhi about this matter.
Jiang Zhi merely stubbornly said, “That place is a shadow for both of us. I won’t let you go back.”
Ji Fanghuai was extremely conflicted, tormented by various worries.
On one hand, she was angry at Jiang Zhi for interfering with her social circle; on the other hand, Jiang Zhi was actually present at the scene. Perhaps she would have died a little later, and witnessing it with her own eyes would have been a greater shock. No wonder Jiang Zhi was always so worried about her.
Jiang Zhi valued her highly; that much was undeniable.
“I really don’t know anything about the owner next door,” Jiang Zhi explained that those things really had nothing to do with her. As for the contacts, she still had the same thought as before.
Jiang Zhi apologized, saying, “I don’t want anyone else to know about you, and I don’t want you to know about anyone else. This is possessiveness, not control.”
Ji Fanghuai looked at Jiang Zhi, not knowing how to reply.
Her words before were too harsh, but now they were easily resolved by Jiang Zhi.
Yet, everything she said was true. Jiang Zhi didn’t allow her to regain her memory or contact her friends.
Besides Jiang Zhi, she should have colleagues, classmates, teachers, friends, and family. In short, she couldn’t have nothing.
Ji Fanghuai was wavering and extremely conflicted.
Jiang Zhi then said, “If you are only being submissive to me out of guilt, then there’s no need for that.”
Ji Fanghuai snapped back to attention and asked, “What do you mean?”
“You feel guilty because you forgot our past. You feel guilty because I was at the scene when you were hit. You feel guilty because you misunderstood me just now.”
Jiang Zhi said pointedly, “Since you woke up, you’ve been constantly feeling guilty. Your tolerance for my intimacy is because of guilt, but I don’t want this guilt. What I want is a pure feeling, just like before.”
Ji Fanghuai was speechless. Indeed, besides guilt, she didn’t know what else she felt for Jiang Zhi. Before, she could secretly maintain a false sense of peace, hiding the guilt in her heart.
Now, it was starkly brought up by Jiang Zhi.
Ji Fanghuai initially didn’t understand what Jiang Zhi meant.
Until she heard Jiang Zhi call her: “Miss Ji.”
Ji Fanghuai was completely stunned.
