After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 39
The Omega’s fingers gripped the white wall of the bathtub; it seemed as though just staying afloat without sinking into the water took every ounce of her strength. Her hand grasped her phone, a layer of mist blooming across the screen.
In the midst of the parching heat, Song Shuangtian was forced to tilt her neck back, looking like a swan being offered as a sacrifice.
Every heat is an ordeal for an Omega. Of course, for those with an Alpha partner, it is a period of pure enjoyment, but Song Shuangtian clearly did not belong to that category.
Pick up the phone already.
Frustrated, Song Shuangtian pounded her hand against the tub. She was genuinely annoyed. When she wanted her, she was nowhere to be found; when she didn’t, she was always hovering nearby. That dog, Ji Mingxue, truly didn’t deserve a chance at forgiveness.
Song Shuangtian thought irritably, then tossed the phone aside. Useless thing.
In the bathroom, the water roared, and waves of rising steam imprinted themselves on the glass door. The Omega’s eyelashes trembled, and a layer of feverish sweat surfaced on her forehead.
Strictly speaking, she had been a “good girl” since childhood. Like all elegant socialites, she was expected to be conservative, graceful, and forbidden from exploring her own body. The more one is raised in such a restrictive environment, the more it triggers a rebellious streak. Thus, Song Shuangtian would go to bars, or secretly watch strange films under her covers… but she had never dared to lay a hand on herself.
If she hadn’t been bold enough to strike out and flirt with Ji Mingxue under the guise of being an Alpha… what a pure and lovely girl she would be right now.
After two long, missed calls, Song Shuangtian dialed a third time. The Omega was drenched in sweat; she could never quite find the right rhythm. She thought to herself: Three strikes and you’re out. If Ji Mingxue didn’t answer this time, she would snatch Guanguan back.
“Hello? Sorry, I was just in the shower.”
The deep voice of the Alpha came from the other end. Song Shuangtian could almost hear the sound of the showerhead being turned off on Ji Mingxue’s side.
Ji Mingxue walked out barefoot while drying her hair. “Song Shuangtian, is something wrong?” She restrained the anticipation and urgency in her voice.
The only response from the other end was heavy, rapid breathing. Ji Mingxue’s grip on the phone suddenly tightened.
“Song Shuangtian, what are you doing?”
The suggestive sound of her breathing instantly sent Ji Mingxue’s nerves into a state of tension. Her hands unconsciously squeezed the phone harder. “Song Shuangtian?”
What met Ji Mingxue’s words was a long, low moan. The Omega’s tone was like it was covered in tiny, dense hooks, snagging every bit of Ji Mingxue’s attention. Ji Mingxue’s ears turned red instantly. She turned her phone volume to the maximum, hearing the sound of water rippling within.
What was Song Shuangtian doing? Was she… by herself?
Ji Mingxue’s pupils contracted sharply. “Are you in heat?”
Even if Ji Mingxue were a block of wood, she knew what Song Shuangtian was seeking by calling her. Memories surfaced of that hazy, lingering night during her own rut—how Ji Mingxue had failed to find the right way until Song Shuangtian grabbed her wrist to complete the final movement of the piece.
Ignoring the Alpha’s frantic state on the other end, Song Shuangtian finished solving her own problem. She rinsed her fingers under the water and spoke.
“President Ji.”
That “President Ji” sounded incredibly sultry and tingling.
Ji Mingxue: “Mm.”
“Song Shuangtian, where are you right now?”
Song Shuangtian laughed. “If President Ji had answered the moment the phone rang, perhaps we would be having a very nice night together. Unfortunately, President Ji missed out.”
Ji Mingxue was suddenly at a loss for words. “Song Shuangtian!”
“The suppressants have already kicked in. I don’t need an Alpha by my side anymore.”
The lazy Omega lay on a chaise lounge, her long legs propped up at the other end, freely displaying her beauty in the privacy of her home. She was a night-blooming cereus in the dark, a pet cat that took pleasure in teasing people. The Omega was wearing nothing, save for a small towel draped across the front of her body.
Tsk, the bathwater was too hot.
Song Shuangtian ignored the Alpha’s questions and quickly hung up the phone. She was both provocative and cunning. She lay on her side on the sofa, curling up with a throw pillow between her legs. After the climax came the sentimental and melancholic phase every Omega experiences. She touched the pearl necklace around her neck and began to miss her.
The call was disconnected. Ji Mingxue was so frustrated she laughed.
Truly, she was Song Shuangtian through and through. She had tricked her out of her body, tricked her for company secrets, and even hidden her pregnancy to run away with their child. Ji Mingxue rubbed her aching temples, feeling a faint, restless heat.
“Mother, Mother! There’s a parent-teacher meeting at the kindergarten tomorrow.”
Guanguan waddled into Ji Mingxue’s study. “Why is Mother’s face so red? Do you have a fever?” Guanguan looked at her worriedly, reaching out a fair little paw to touch her mother’s forehead.
Ji Mingxue: “…”
Her blood pressure was rising. No Alpha could endure such a provocation from an Omega. An Omega’s heat isn’t that easy to get over. Ji Mingxue reached out a hand to lift the child onto her lap; while stroking her little head, she thought about how to win back a round.
The cunning mother leaned down to the White Jade Ball’s ear and said in a very gentle voice:
“I’m sorry, baby. Mother has to be in meetings lately and can’t attend the kindergarten meeting. Could baby please ask Mama to come instead?”
The innocent White Jade Ball looked at Ji Mingxue blankly. “Mother, I didn’t contact Mama. I really didn’t contact Mama.”
Ji Mingxue pinched the child’s little braid. “But Mother has to earn money for baby’s tuition. Mother has to earn money for baby’s clothes. Otherwise, baby can only drop out to pick up trash, wear old clothes others don’t want, and won’t have new toys anymore. Baby would have to go to the dump to find broken toys.”
Ji Mingxue felt zero guilt for scaring the child.
The mother, who had just showered, smelled wonderful. The White Jade Ball immediately felt a sense of crisis. If Mother didn’t work and didn’t go to meetings, she wouldn’t be able to live in this big house or smell so nice. Mother would lose her job and would have to work odd jobs to support Guanguan! QAQ
Mother wouldn’t have pretty clothes to wear. Guanguan remembered the villa nannies gossiping about how washing dishes outside didn’t require an interview and some shops paid on the same day. Guanguan didn’t want Mother to wear an apron and rubber gloves to scrub plates because she missed a meeting! QAQ
In the end, Mother would even have to work for Mama just to survive… but Guanguan hoped Mother could help lighten Mama’s burden. After much hesitation, Guanguan nodded solemnly.
“I understand!”
Ji Mingxue: “…” She seemed to see sympathy and pity in her own cub’s eyes.
Song Shuangtian was drawing design drafts when she received her “Jar’s” call. “Okay, I got it. I’ll be at your kindergarten tomorrow at 2:00 PM.”
As the actual ruler of M Group, Ji Mingxue’s work couldn’t be easy. As the child’s parent, it wasn’t appropriate to let a secretary or butler attend. Between the parents, naturally, whoever was free would go. Song Shuangtian agreed decisively, then turned her phone face down on the desk and continued drawing.
On the day of the parent-teacher meeting:
Just as her high heel stepped out of her black sedan, she was forcefully pressed against the car door by a surge of strength—in broad daylight, in full view of everyone.
The driver was tempted to call the police on the spot. But peeking out and seeing it was Ji Mingxue, he deleted the call and tactfully raised the privacy partition. Young couples, right in front of the child, tsk tsk tsk.
The Omega was like a cat that had its tail stepped on; her fur stood on end. “Ji Mingxue, what kind of madness is this!”
The sudden kiss cut off all of Song Shuangtian’s questions in her throat. Her wrists were pinned against the car door; it was a kiss that tasted of blood.
Immediately after, Song Shuangtian was pulled by the wrist and thrown into Ji Mingxue’s car. With a loud thud of the door closing, Song Shuangtian fell onto the back seat. She glared fiercely at Ji Mingxue, only to see the woman tear open her collar buttons and pounce.
As for the cub, she was already inside the kindergarten classroom. Their movements were too fast; the pedestrians at the entrance hadn’t even realized what was happening.
The initial kiss tasted of blood, but as the Alpha tasted the sweetness, her frantic movements slowed down. She began to savor her Omega with extreme gentleness. Song Shuangtian’s resistance grew weaker. Her heat hadn’t completely passed, and being stirred by Ji Mingxue’s pheromones, her waist turned incredibly soft.
“Ji Mingxue, you used our child to trick me!” Truly not a good person.
Ji Mingxue propped herself over her, her long hair falling with gravity like a dark curtain, blocking all the light from Song Shuangtian’s view. The crisp fragrance of white magnolia completely enveloped her prey. Threads of orange blossom scent leaked out uncontrollably…
Song Shuangtian’s knees rubbed together involuntarily. “There’s still half an hour until the meeting starts. Ji Mingxue, are you sure?”
“I’m asking, Mama, what exactly is our relationship right now?” Ji Mingxue countered with a question.
Song Shuangtian was stumped. She truly didn’t know what their relationship was. Sex first, love later? Rekindling an old flame? Competitors? Or enemies?
The proud kitty tilted her chin, kicked her high heels aside, and grazed Ji Mingxue’s calf with her toes. Ji Mingxue’s gaze darkened. She brushed her teeth against the back of Song Shuangtian’s neck.
“Our child thinks I’m going bankrupt. Song Shuangtian, are you willing to be my sugar mommy? My fees are very low.”
Half an hour was only enough for a temporary marking. Of course, they could do some other “extra-fee” projects.
When they were finished, Song Shuangtian, enduring her soreness, pulled a one-yuan coin from her bag and tossed it onto Ji Mingxue’s lap. The silver coin landed, leaving Ji Mingxue stunned.
“A bit of progress compared to last time. Not bad.”
Song Shuangtian turned and smiled at her, mouthing the words: I’ll give you a chance to pursue me again.
Ji Mingxue’s breathing hitched. Fearing she had misread the lip-reading, she gripped the coin and pushed open the car door, urgently trying to grab Song Shuangtian’s hand to make her say it again.
But she saw Song Shuangtian enter her black sedan and check her watch.
“The parent-teacher meeting started five minutes ago.”
As a qualified “sugar baby,” Ji Mingxue helped Song Shuangtian tidy her clothes until they were perfect, while she herself looked disheveled like someone who had been thoroughly “ravaged.”
Song Shuangtian had torn open the Alpha’s shirt buttons, leaving her hair in disarray. Before Ji Mingxue could even confirm the reality of the situation, the black sedan had already sped away.
Ji Mingxue stood frozen on the spot, clutching the cold one-yuan coin. Fortunately, she kept a change of clothes in her car.
Guanguan noticed that her mother’s mood was exceptionally good today. The White Jade Ball sat side-by-side with her mother at a tiny, low table.
“What happened to Mother’s neck?” Guanguan asked, tilting her head. “Why did it turn red? And why didn’t my Mama come today?”
Ji Mingxue let out a dry, raspy cough. The sweet, lingering scent of the Omega’s glands still graced her lips. “Your Mama… is busy today. I came to attend the meeting for my baby.”
The White Jade Ball knitted her brows in worry. “But what if Mother goes bankrupt because she didn’t go to work?”
Ji Mingxue felt a lump in her throat. “Thank you for your concern. I won’t go bankrupt just yet.”
Though, truthfully, the only cash Ji Mingxue had on her person right now was exactly one yuan, a “tip” from her “client.”
The child’s voice was a bit too loud, causing several nearby parents to look over in surprise. Ji Mingxue’s face appeared frequently in financial magazines; a few parents who had been hesitant to believe their eyes now felt certain of her identity. To see such a titan of industry attend a kindergarten meeting… just how “favored” must this child and her mother be!
Wait! some thought. Isn’t this child’s mother Song Shuangtian? Are these two families actually allied by marriage?!
Ji Mingxue attended her first parent-teacher meeting with more focus than a board meeting. Before the session ended, the teacher reminded parents to be vigilant during outdoor activities: “Ensure children do not climb trees or rock walls without protection.”
Ji Mingxue sat on a tiny chair that was comically ill-suited for her height, her long legs folded awkwardly. She took meticulous notes in her leather-bound notebook. Seeing her so serious, the other parents followed suit, pens scratching away.
Ji Mingxue raised an eyebrow. What kind of child just climbs trees? she thought. I’m raising a daughter, not a monkey.
However, she noticed that as the teacher mentioned tree-climbing, the teacher’s gaze was fixed pointedly on her own cub.
Ji Mingxue: “?”
When the meeting concluded, Ji Mingxue was asked to stay behind. It was her first time being “sent to the principal’s office,” so to speak. No matter her status outside, in this room, she was simply a parent.
“Go play for a bit,” Ji Mingxue said, waving Guanguan away. The kindergarten had comprehensive surveillance with no blind spots; she felt safe letting the child roam.
“Song Yuqing has quite a lot of energy,” the teacher began. “I suggest more outdoor activities.”
“Understood,” Ji Mingxue replied. “I will hire a private tutor for outdoor athletics.”
“Please ensure there is adequate safety equipment,” the teacher added. “Life safety is paramount.”
Ji Mingxue nodded, though she didn’t quite grasp the gravity. Are there children who don’t care about their own safety? she wondered. My baby is an angel. Usually, Guanguan was either quietly reading picture books or building Legos. She was every nanny’s dream.
While the teacher talked, Ji Mingxue’s mind drifted back to Song Shuangtian. She had been very restrained today, ensuring the Omega was satisfied. Judging by Song Shuangtian’s expression, she was pleased.
Relationship progress: +1.
When Ji Mingxue walked out of the classroom, she went numb.
“Guanguan?”
She called out, walking several laps, but the White Jade Ball was nowhere to be found. Guanguan was wearing a white wool dress; she should have stood out like a sore thumb.
Cold sweat broke out on Ji Mingxue’s back. I lost the child?!
Her usually composed face turned deathly pale. She had just been thinking about “plus points,” but if the cub was gone, her score would drop to negative ten thousand.
The teacher came out and saw Ji Mingxue heading for the security room. “Song Yuqing’s mother?”
Ji Mingxue stopped, maintaining a forced calm. “Song Yuqing is missing.”
The teacher’s expression froze for a split second. Then, she slowly looked up toward the lush canopy of a massive sycamore tree. Ji Mingxue’s neck moved upward, notch by notch.
Ji Mingxue: “!”
Her White Jade Ball was at the very top of the tree! It was nearly three stories high. Is she a monkey?!
It turned out she didn’t climb trees at the villa because she looked down on those tiny saplings. Ji Mingxue’s pulse throbbed in her temples. She finally understood what the teacher meant by “life safety.”
Ji Mingxue nearly lost her composure. Squinting, she saw another child sitting next to Guanguan. At the foot of the tree, another mother was pacing frantically. She had long hair in a braid and looked ready to collapse.
“Are you Song Yuqing’s mother?” the woman cried, her eyes red. “Control her! Your child has led my daughter up that tree more than once! My daughter is timid; last time she came down, she couldn’t sleep for two days!”
Ji Mingxue thought privately: Your kid is just bad at playing but loves to join in.
Seeing the teacher look unfazed, Ji Mingxue realized Song Shuangtian must deal with this constantly. She bowed and apologized to the sobbing mother.
High up in the branches, the other child looked terrified, face pale. Ji Mingxue felt a level of exhaustion she had never known. A gust of wind blew, and her heart leaped into her throat.
“Guanguan, don’t move!”
Ji Mingxue immediately called her team to bring a rescue squad. Before she could finish the call, Guanguan laughed brightly. “Mother! I can see Mama’s company from here!”
Ji Mingxue: “…That’s just wonderful.”
Guanguan took it as a compliment. She pointed in the other direction. “And Mother’s company! I see that too!”
“Don’t move,” Ji Mingxue said with a strained smile. “The rescue team is coming.”
Suddenly, before Ji Mingxue could even blink, Guanguan grabbed the other child by the collar and nimbly maneuvered her down the tree. The movement was fluid, professional, and entirely unnecessary for a toddler. If it were any other context, Ji Mingxue would think she had a future Olympic gymnast on her hands. Now, she was just dizzy with stress.
“There,” Guanguan said, dropping the other child off. “Your Mama is here.”
The other child looked up timidly. “Mama, am I impressive?”
The mother hugged her child, sobbing, and glared at Ji Mingxue as if her child was a corrupting influence. Ji Mingxue, who was usually the one receiving apologies, found herself bowing again.
“I am deeply sorry for the fright. If there are… other needs, my secretary can discuss compensation.”
The other mother didn’t even wait for her to finish. She scooped up her child and stomped away.
Ji Mingxue sighed. Does Tiantian deal with this every day?
She asked the teacher why they didn’t stop her. The teacher pointed to a sign on the tree. It featured a candid, rather unflattering photo of Guanguan climbing, with the caption: “DO NOT CLIMB! DO NOT IMITATE!”
“Most kids can’t even get past the first branch,” the teacher explained. “Adults can’t even climb it. Your daughter is… gifted.”
Wonderful. Her child was a wanted fugitive on school grounds.
# The child isn’t just smart; the child is strong. #
A filthy, mud-stained Guanguan beamed. “Mother, I’m super impressive!”
Ji Mingxue: “Yes. Impressive.”
She picked up her phone. “Cancel the rescue team. But buy me a bottle of heart medication. My chest feels tight.”
Ji Mingxue put the child in her car, feeling the true weight of parenting.
“I like climbing,” Guanguan chirped. “Mama doesn’t let me.”
“Mm,” Ji Mingxue muttered. “Exercise is good.” I won’t let you either.
When they returned to M Group, Lu Xing teased, “Looking at you, President Ji, one would think we’re filing for bankruptcy.”
“Just put the files on my desk,” Ji Mingxue said woodenly. “I need to bathe the child.”
As she spoke, Guanguan pulled a caterpillar out of her pocket and thrust it toward Ji Mingxue. “Mother! I want to keep it!”
Lu Xing: “!”
# The boss looks calm, but she’s been dead inside for a while. #
“Thank you,” Ji Mingxue said. “Maybe next time.”
She finally understood why Song Shuangtian had handed the child over to her.
“Are you really comfortable letting Ji Mingxue raise her?”
Madam Qiu leaned back against her hospital bed as Song Shuangtian visited. Song Shuangtian had brought the new European medication, which was proving effective.
“Ji Mingxue will grow to love her,” Song Shuangtian said. She believed a partner needed to participate in the “hard” parts of parenting to truly bond.
Madam Qiu patted her hand. “When will you bring her to see me? Last I saw her, she wasn’t as tall as a table. Now she’s a big girl.”
Song Shuangtian peeled an apple, a faint smile on her lips. “I’ll bring her soon.”
“I didn’t expect you to forgive her,” Madam Qiu noted.
Song Shuangtian paused. She looked at the blooming magnolias outside. Truly, Ji Mingxue hadn’t done anything “wrong” in the past; they were both young and lacked choices. If anyone was at fault, it was Song Shuangtian’s mother, giving birth to a child she didn’t want and then abandoning her.
” I haven’t forgiven her yet,” Song Shuangtian said pridefully.
But Ji Mingxue’s number and email were no longer on her blocklist.
