After Letting Go, I Ended Up Happily Ever After With My White Moonlight - Chapter 5
Cheng Yao never expected that Qi Yin would actually rush over with just a single phone call.
She was a bit bewildered right now, and the question she wanted to ask the most was what on earth was going on between the two of them, but asking felt somewhat inappropriate.
Qi Yin stood at the doorway of the inner room, looking at Jiang Yu, who was dead asleep on the sofa, and asked out of nowhere, “Is she on duty today?”
“Ah, today is not her day, it’s mine,” Cheng Yao said.
Cheng Yao gave Qi Yin a meaningful glance.
Qi Yin’s eyes seemed glued to Jiang Yu, unblinking. This completely contradicted the cold, indifferent persona devoid of any feelings that Jiang Yu had described to her.
Besides, who without any feelings would rush right over to snatch someone away just because of a voice message?
Qi Yin nodded. “Well, then you go ahead and get busy. I won’t bother you anymore.” She lowered her gaze and walked into the room.
Cheng Yao gave two dry coughs. Ever since Qi Yin arrived, she had felt like this room couldn’t possibly accommodate her; and now, she was practically being chased out.
However,
The most, most, most important thing was,
Who on earth was the store clerk here anyway?
Cheng Yao looked with sympathetic affection at Jiang Yu, whose head was mostly blocked by Qi Yin’s body, offered a brief moment of internal mourning, and slipped away.
It’s not that your sister here refuses to help you, my dear, it’s just that you love making trouble way too much. Your sister is leaving first. Besides, the situation between the two of you isn’t even that bad; who knows, tomorrow you might even be thanking me!
After Cheng Yao left, Qi Yin stood in silence for a moment, lowering her eyes as she walked toward Jiang Yu, who was sprawled out haphazardly like a puddle.
She bent down to gently pat Jiang Yu’s flushed cheeks, speaking in a soft whisper.
“Wake up, time to go home.”
Qi Yin had not yet warmed up, and her palms were ice-cold. Pressing them against Jiang Yu’s face felt surprisingly comfortable to the latter.
Unconsciously, Jiang Yu grabbed Qi Yin’s hand and mushily rubbed against it a couple of times.
Qi Yin did not dare to move.
Jiang Yu’s actions left her not knowing what to do for the best.
Her hand remained stiffly in place because Jiang Yu was gripping it too tightly to pull away. Every time she tried to pull back, Jiang Yu would grip it even tighter, holding on as if it were a priceless treasure, while incoherently murmuring something under her breath.
Qi Yin looked helplessly at the person who was fast asleep while clutching her hand, and in the end, she let out a sigh of resignation.
She hoisted one of Jiang Yu’s arms, looped it over her own neck, and hauled Jiang Yu up.
Forced up from the sofa by Qi Yin, Jiang Yu had half of her body slumped against Qi Yin. The soft, pillowy sensation finally cleared Jiang Yu’s mind a little bit.
Though not by much.
Shaking her head drunkenly, Jiang Yu bumped right into Qi Yin’s forehead with a soft thud. Feeling the pain, she heard a sharp intake of breath beside her ear and managed to half-open her eyes.
“…Qi Yin?” Jiang Yu released the hand she was holding and reached out to pat the forehead she had just bumped. “Ah, let me stroke it and it won’t hurt anymore, won’t hurt anymore…”
Qi Yin did not move.
With her brain operating in slow motion from the alcohol, Jiang Yu looked at Qi Yin’s silence and assumed it wasn’t working, so she brought her mouth close to Qi Yin’s forehead to blow on it for her.
A puff of warm air hit the corner of Qi Yin’s forehead. The heat of that breath was so intense that it made her shudder abruptly.
Unconsciously, Qi Yin gripped her palm tightly, causing Jiang Yu, whose arm was tightly clutched, to let out a cry of pain.
“Hiss, why are you pinching me!” Jiang Yu cried out in dissatisfaction.
Qi Yin loosened her grip slightly and suddenly let out a self-deprecating laugh.
“It’s nothing, I’m taking you home.”
Home?
These words seemed to awaken Jiang Yu, who repeated them right back: “Oh, I’m going home, going home…” She struggled hard, but failed to break free from Qi Yin’s embrace. With a pout of petulant defiance, she dragged the supporting Qi Yin toward the door.
Taken by surprise by this sudden movement, Qi Yin stumbled slightly, quickly catching up to Jiang Yu, whose upper body was practically flying forward.
Passing by the counter, Cheng Yao opened her mouth at the sight of the two embracing each other, not knowing what to say, then lowered her head to pretend she saw nothing.
Yet Jiang Yu was hardly blind.
Even with half her body being supported, she marched unstoppably toward Cheng Yao, who was cowering in the corner of the counter trying her best to minimize her presence.
Looking at Jiang Yu walking toward her step-by-step like a zombie, Cheng Yao felt for the first time that she looked like a beam of light.
, The kind of blinding sunshine where you wanted to hide, but couldn’t escape no matter what.
No, seriously, can someone save me?
“Slap, ”
Jiang Yu’s free hand smacked onto the counter, and she gave Cheng Yao a silly smile. “Yao~ I’m going home.”
Hearing this, Cheng Yao glanced at Qi Yin somewhat queerly, thought for a second, and turned to Qi Yin. “You… are taking her home?”
Qi Yin nodded, confirming it, and pulled back Jiang Yu’s hand that was still slapping the counter.
Perhaps Jiang Yu was just going through the motions for the sake of ritual, because at Qi Yin’s gentle tug, she drifted along obediently once again.
When Qi Yin finally managed to support her all the way to the doorway, Jiang Yu suddenly remembered something and began struggling violently. No matter how Qi Yin pulled her, she refused to take another step forward.
Almost unable to keep the flea-like Jiang Yu under control, Qi Yin asked in bewilderment, “What is it?”
“I forgot my cat! No way, I have to bring that idiot along! The cat! My cat!!!!!!” Jiang Yu bellowed almost at the top of her lungs, before suddenly bursting into soft soaks. “Give me back my cat, I want my cat, dog, cat, ”
Qi Yin:
Cheng Yao: “…”
Qi Yin pressed her fingertips to the bridge of her nose. How come she never knew Jiang Yu kept a cat? Since when?
Since she didn’t know, she had naturally never seen it, and it was even more impossible for her to bring it along for Jiang Yu.
She wasn’t even sure if this was just drunken nonsense and the creature didn’t even exist in reality.
Patiently and softly, she inquired, “Where is your cat?”
The drunken Jiang Yu was like a brainless pager, completely unable to process a single word from Qi Yin, blindly repeating herself as if she had no intention of leaving today without her cat.
Qi Yin looked at the person making a chaotic fuss beside her, took another deep breath, mustered all her strength to haul Jiang Yu back to the counter, and stared blankly at Cheng Yao.
Cheng Yao: “?”
Though Qi Yin said nothing, Cheng Yao understood what she wanted to ask.
However, oh my lord in heaven, how on earth was she supposed to know when Jiang Yu started keeping a cat? She didn’t even, … wait, there actually was one.
To rescue Qi Yin from her fiery torment and put an end to this farce, Cheng Yao sprang up at lightning speed. “Wait here a second.” She fished out Xueqiu, who had been watching the spectacle, and handed it over to Qi Yin.
Qi Yin looked at Xueqiu for two seconds, reached out to take the animal, and muttered a word of thanks.
Holding Xueqiu in her left hand and supporting Jiang Yu with her right, she wobbled her way toward the door.
Barely reaching the car door, she blocked Jiang Yu momentarily, letting the other lean against her so she could pull the door open.
Qi Yin first shoved Jiang Yu into the passenger seat, tossed the cat that Jiang Yu was dying to bring along into the back seat, and only then leaned over to fasten Jiang Yu’s seatbelt.
Jiang Yu’s large eyes stared straight at Qi Yin as she buckled her in, murmuring a quiet expression of affection.
Her voice was too soft, however, and Qi Yin did not catch it clearly, only registering that Jiang Yu had said something.
By the time Qi Yin finished buckling the seatbelt and wanted to hear what she had said again, Jiang Yu had already clamped her mouth shut.
Qi Yin looked at Jiang Yu, who had now stopped talking, smiled, and tidied up her ruffled hair: “Be a good little drunkard.”
