After I Married the Comatose CEO - Chapter 12
“I checked online, and people in a coma still have those functions,” Meng Ziye continued to speak wildly. “Wait! Was He Siyan injured in that area? He isn’t broken, is he?”
Xie Qiu walked quickly back to the bed and covered the man’s ears with his hands: “Husband, don’t listen. It’s a hate comment.”
He Siyan’s hand, resting on the inner side of the bed, slowly clenched into a fist.
Meng Ziye continued to try to convince him: “Otherwise, what will you do if he wakes up and divorces you immediately?”
Xie Qiu withdrew his hands, his tone a bit helpless: “This marriage was very rushed to begin with. It didn’t even have his consent. It’s only normal if he doesn’t want to recognize it.”
“Then all your hard work taking care of him will go down the drain?” Meng Ziye worried for him. “Besides, even if you looked with a magnifying glass, you’d never find such a good husband again!”
“How can it be a waste?” Xie Qiu smiled. “I’ve already gotten what I wanted.”
He had not only used this marriage to escape the Xie family’s control but also received a large sum of money. Taking care of He Siyan was simply what he ought to do.
Meng Ziye wanted to say more, but Xie Qiu interrupted him.
“Alright, we don’t even know when my husband will wake up. Stop thinking about these useless things.” Xie Qiu started walking and gestured: “You’ve seen him. Let’s go to my room.”
“Fine.” Meng Ziye stood up and looked back once more. “Idol, I hope you wake up soon.”
Xie Qiu teased: “If your idol knew you wanted me to defile him, he probably wouldn’t acknowledge you as a fan.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” Meng Ziye put his arm around Xie Qiu’s shoulder. “My brother is just as good-looking as a star. Clearly, the idol is the one winning here!”
Xie Qiu: “Well, thank you!”
As they walked forward, they bumped right into He Jingchen.
Meng Ziye’s body stiffened, and he quickly took his hand off Xie Qiu’s shoulder: “Second Young Master He.”
He Jingchen glanced at him and then looked at Xie Qiu: “Your guest?”
“Yes, I invited a friend over to hang out.” Xie Qiu nodded and added, “Mom gave her permission.”
The fact that He Siyan was in a coma was no longer a secret, and the He family didn’t try to hide it anymore.
He Jingchen didn’t say much: “I’m going to see my brother.”
The two of them moved aside to let him pass.
Once He Jingchen was inside the room, Meng Ziye immediately patted his chest and whispered, “That scared me.”
Xie Qiu opened the door to his own room and laughed: “Are you really that afraid of him?”
“He has such a powerful aura.” Meng Ziye closed the door behind them. “But Xiao Qiuqiu, is it just me, or has He Jingchen’s attitude toward you become much softer?”
“It’s not just your imagination,” Xie Qiu confirmed. “Lately, the Second Young Master’s attitude toward me has indeed been quite nice.”
Perhaps because he hadn’t caused any trouble for so long, He Jingchen didn’t hate or reject him as much anymore.
“That’s a good thing!” Meng Ziye clapped his hands. “It would be best if you could get He Jingchen on your side. That’s an extra layer of protection!”
Xie Qiu: “Uh…”
As long as He Jingchen didn’t target him, it was already a win. He didn’t dare to hope for more.
Meng Ziye began to look around the room. His eyes suddenly stopped on a landscape painting hanging on the wall: “Holy crap!”
Xie Qiu followed his gaze: “What’s wrong with that painting?”
“If I’m not mistaken, the artist of this painting is a famous Ming Dynasty painter. I forgot the name.” Meng Ziye rubbed his eyes hard. “Anyway, this painting is extremely valuable. The fake one I saw last time was worth hundreds of thousands!”
Xie Qiu was shocked: “Even a fake is worth that much?”
“Xiao Qiu, where did you get this?” Meng Ziye walked up to the painting to look closely. “Is this one a fake too?”
“This was a wedding gift from Grandpa He.” Xie Qiu said hesitantly, “If Grandpa He gave it, it probably isn’t a fake, right?”
“Holy crap, holy crap!” Meng Ziye lunged forward and hugged Xie Qiu’s leg. “Xiao Qiuqiu, do you remember our old promise? If one of us gets rich, we won’t forget the other!”
“Don’t worry.” Xie Qiu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Let go of my leg first.”
“No!” Meng Ziye hugged tighter. “From now on, I am officially joining the ‘Live Off My Brother’ club!”
Xie Qiu had no choice but to drag the heavy “attachment” on his leg and shuffle toward the painting.
Meng Ziye’s butt slid across the floor: “Xiao Qiuqiu, what are you doing?”
“Taking the painting down,” Xie Qiu replied. “I thought it was just an ordinary painting. I realize now that hanging it here is too flashy.”
“Makes sense. Like they say, keep your wealth hidden!” Meng Ziye paused and couldn’t help but sigh. “Xiao Qiu, I’ve noticed that since you married into this family, you’ve really settled down and become more composed.”
Xie Qiu: “…”
He wasn’t some stereotypical athlete trying to act “deep”; he didn’t need that kind of label.
After putting away the famous painting, Xie Qiu opened a cabinet, took out a box, and handed it to Meng Ziye.
“What’s this? A gift for me?” Meng Ziye took the box. After opening the packaging, he let out his N-th “Holy crap!” of the day.
“Your birthday is coming up. You really wanted these limited-edition sneakers, didn’t you?” Xie Qiu explained. “So, I bought them as your birthday gift.”
“No way!” Meng Ziye looked shocked. “There are only a hundred pairs of these in the world. You can’t even get them with money. How did you get these?”
Xie Qiu made a gesture: “With the power of money, of course.”
“Ahhh!” Meng Ziye let out a sharp scream. He held the shoebox and tried to jump over to hug him. “Xiao Qiuqiu, I love you so much!”
“No, thanks. I politely decline.” Xie Qiu dodged to the side and replied with a smile, “I’m already a man with a husband. Don’t love me; there’s no future in it.”
Meng Ziye sat back on the bed and made a big heart shape with his hands. “Then I wish you and your husband a long and happy life together!”
The two played in the room for a while, and then Xie Qiu took him downstairs for lunch.
After the meal, Meng Ziye praised his friend a lot in front of Su Wanrong. His praise made Mrs. He smile brightly. Before he left, she even insisted that he take a few boxes of snacks from the kitchen for his family to try.
Meng Ziye wasn’t shy about it and left with his hands full.
Xie Qiu saw him to the door and then turned back inside.
In the evening, as the sun was setting, Xie Qiu pushed his husband into the garden to get some sun.
The weather had been getting hotter lately, and the morning sun was quite strong, so they switched to coming out for some fresh air near sunset.
Xie Qiu pushed his husband over to the swing and sat on it himself, swaying back and forth.
He Siyan sat in his wheelchair, his face as calm as ever.
A breeze blew by, making Xie Qiu’s slightly curly hair a bit messy. He brushed it back with his hand. “Husband, do you smell the jasmine?”
When he didn’t get an answer, he muttered to himself again, “It smells so good. It would be nice if you could smell it too.”
Xie Qiu held the swing handles and swung for a few laps. Suddenly, his sharp eyes noticed something moving in the flowers nearby.
He jumped off the swing and walked toward the flowers. As he got closer, he saw a small black puppy chewing on flower petals.
The puppy wasn’t shy at all when it saw him. Instead, it wagged its tail and gave two tiny barks.
Xie Qiu thought it was adorable. He squatted down and carefully picked up the puppy. “Where did you come from?”
The puppy barked at him again and stuck out its little pink tongue.
“Eldest Young Madam.” The gardener heard the noise and walked over. He froze for a second. “Why is there a dog?”
“I don’t know either.” Xie Qiu turned around while holding the puppy. “I just found it.”
“It probably crawled in through a hole. I’ll check immediately,” the gardener suggested. “Eldest Young Madam, give the dog to me. I’ll handle it.”
Xie Qiu hesitated. “Are you going to throw it away?”
The gardener saw what he was thinking and asked, “Do you want to keep it?”
Xie Qiu’s eyes lit up. “Can I?”
“How about this: I’ll take it back to my place to wash it first, and then I’ll ask the Madam later,” the gardener quickly found a solution. “But don’t worry, the Madam probably won’t say no to you.”
“That’s great!” Xie Qiu thanked him with a big smile. “Then I’ll leave it to you.”
The gardener reached out to take the puppy. “You’re welcome.”
Surprisingly, the puppy that was just wagging its tail in Xie Qiu’s arms started whimpering and yelping as soon as it touched the gardener’s hands.
“Puppy, be good.” Xie Qiu reached out and held the puppy’s paw. “The gardener is a good man. He will give you something yummy, okay?”
The puppy looked up with its bright black eyes. It actually seemed to understand him and stopped struggling.
“This dog is very smart; it understands people.” After saying that, the gardener hurried away with the little black dog.
Xie Qiu also went home to wash the germs off his hands and then returned to the garden.
It was getting dark. He pushed the wheelchair back toward the house, asking as they went, “Husband, that little black dog is really cute. Do you think Mom will let us keep him?”
“If Mom doesn’t agree, I’ll give it to Meng Ziye.” Xie Qiu thought for a moment and added, “It’s still more important to take care of you, husband.”
During dinner that night, Xie Qiu told Su Wanrong about the puppy.
Su Wanrong agreed immediately. “Of course, you can keep it as long as you don’t bring it into the house.”
“Okay, I definitely won’t bring the puppy inside,” Xie Qiu promised. “I’ll also disinfect my hands carefully after touching it.”
“Good boy,” Su Wanrong praised him, then suddenly asked, “Xiao Qiu, has Siyan shown any signs of improvement lately?”
Xie Qiu answered honestly, “It’s still the same. He has some reactions occasionally.”
Su Wanrong was silent for a few seconds and then asked, “I told you last time to get closer to Siyan. Have you been doing that?”
Xie Qiu lowered his eyelashes and answered vaguely, “Yes!”
He held his husband’s hand every time he told a story. That counted as being close, right?
“Sigh…” Su Wanrong sighed, her brow furrowing. “Xiao Qiu, you know a bit about the situation in the He family. If Siyan keeps sleeping like this, some things will really get out of control.”
“I understand,” Xie Qiu answered obediently. “I will do my best, Mom.”
Su Wanrong smiled again. “Good boy. Without you, I really wouldn’t know what to do.”
Xie Qiu went back to his room and took a shower. After drying his hair, he went to the sickroom next door.
He sat in the chair by the bed and read a bedtime story as usual.
After finishing, Xie Qiu leaned on the edge of the bed and whispered, “Husband, Mom was worried again today.”
Actually, he completely understood Su Wanrong. Him marrying into the He family was the last straw she could grab onto.
But a month had passed, and He Siyan still showed no sign of waking up.
Xie Qiu grabbed the large, handsome hand and gave it a kiss.
Before, the man’s fingertips would curl up when he was kissed, but now there was no reaction at all.
“Husband, you’re really not being very helpful,” Xie Qiu muttered and straightened up. “I guess I need to step things up a bit.”
He took a deep breath as if he had made a big decision. He took off his slippers and climbed onto the hospital bed.
The bed He Siyan slept in was very large. He climbed to the inner side and lay down right next to the man.
“Husband, I’m sleeping with you tonight.” Xie Qiu closed his eyes. His eyelashes fluttered slightly because he was shy. “If you don’t like it, you can just push me away.”
The two of them were very close. As he spoke, his warm breath brushed against the side of He Siyan’s neck, and that patch of skin quietly turned red.
Xie Qiu’s eyes were closed, so he naturally didn’t notice that the man’s Adam’s apple gave a clear gulp.
