- Chapter 88 - Deep Master-Disciple Affection
Jiufang Cangze didn’t resist at all and took Li Yun’s punch head-on.
The punch didn’t land on his face but on the wound on his shoulder, causing a searing pain.
He let out a low groan, considering it revenge for his Senior Brother’s past suffering.
Li Yun only hit him once, then stepped back. His loose hair obscured his eyes, but his slightly trembling shoulders showed his fury and resentment.
He turned around and for the first time, seriously looked at Jiufang Cangze, asking in a low voice, “What do I lack that you have?”
He had accepted that in the past, when Jiufang Cangze was at the peak of his power, he couldn’t compare. But now the other man was a cripple, and he couldn’t understand where he had lost.
Jiufang Cangze held his wound, which had split open, and got up from the ground. He smiled wretchedly. “Perhaps, A-Xue just likes my reckless, crazy side.”
The biggest difference between him and Li Yun was that he dared to support Qiu Fuxue ‘s risky endeavors and was willing to trade his life for him when they were in danger.
Li Yun, however, preferred the most thorough methods to keep his Senior Brother safe.
Qiu Fuxue had felt both kinds of love. After a period of hesitation and struggle, he chose the former.
Li Yun leaned against the window, breathing in the fresh air. The gentle breeze calmed him down a little.
He loved his Senior Brother and supported all his choices.
“Jiufang Cangze.” Li Yun’s voice sounded distant. “If you ever make Senior Brother unhappy, I will make you pay a price a thousand times over!”
Jiufang Cangze’s lips curved into a bitter smile. “If I ever wrong him, you won’t need to do a thing. I’ll cut off my own head.”
After a brief exchange, Li Yun took the Skeleton and Cui’er and returned to the Qianshan Sect that night. Lan Shiyi’s injuries were also mostly healed. The next morning, they set off again towards Morning Twilight City .
The guards they had with them on their way here had all been killed by the demon soldiers. Now that only a few of them were left, their travel speed was much faster.
Qiu Fuxue sat in the rocking carriage, looking at the blood seeping from Jiufang Cangze’s shoulder.
He only had one set of clothes, so he couldn’t change.
“What did A-Yun say to you yesterday?”
Jiufang Cangze knew he couldn’t hide it, so he didn’t even try. He said it lightly. “He just told me to take good care of you.”
“Hmm.” Qiu Fuxue didn’t ask further. He touched the wound with his fingertips. The cool sensation covered it, and the pain was greatly reduced.
“When we get there, I’ll buy you a few more sets of clothes.”
Jiufang Cangze looked down at his tattered clothes, most of which were torn during the fighting.
“No matter. I look good no matter what I wear!”
Qiu Fuxue laughed. “You still haven’t gotten rid of your arrogance. Clothes make the man, but even the most handsome face can’t handle such abuse.”
Jiufang Cangze found a clever angle to press him. “So A-Xue admits that I’m handsome?”
There was no one else in the carriage. A fair hand stroked the slightly rough face that had been weathered by the wind and sand. “When have I ever said you were ugly?”
The most vicious thing he had ever said was to call him cruel, but he had never attacked his appearance.
As the atmosphere grew intimate, Jiufang Cangze was worried that Jing An would show up and ruin the moment again.
To prevent any more trouble, he made the first move and kissed those thin lips.
Qiu Fuxue was caught off guard and froze for a long while, but he didn’t push him away. In the end, he met the kiss.
Love would smooth over the scars of the past.
When the kiss was over, he leaned against Jiufang Cangze, breathing heavily. Finally, a satisfied smile appeared on his face. “My husband is the most handsome man in the world.”
That one word, “husband,” made Jiufang Cangze feel so elated he nearly lost his soul.
Lan Shiyi was worried about running into more trouble on the way, so he had the coachman speed up. They quickly arrived at Morning Twilight City. Once they entered the main city, their worries lessened even more.
At his invitation, Qiu Fuxue and Jiufang Cangze rested for a night at the City Lord’s manor before going to visit the sect that was stationed there, the Dongyang Sect.
The Sect Leader of the Dongyang Sect, Jie Qiao , had been a guest at the Qianshan Sect when Qiu Fuxue was a child. At least on the surface, he had a good relationship with Yuan Li Tian. When Qiu Fuxue took over as Sect Leader, Jie Qiao had even sent a letter to express his condolences for his master.
Walking on the road, Jiufang Cangze was wearing the new clothes Qiu Fuxue had bought for him. His hands were clasped behind his head, looking exactly like a rich young master. “A-Xue, will I be walking into a tiger’s den by following you?”
“More like a wolf walking into a sheep pen.” Qiu Fuxue was not joking with him.
It was difficult to change worldly views. Demons would always represent evil.
“The Dongyang Sect is stationed here. I’m going to do something big in their waters, so I have to let them know.” He lowered his eyes helplessly. If it weren’t for this, he would never want to deal with these people.
Jiufang Cangze mentally reviewed everything he knew. This Dongyang Sect didn’t seem to have any powerful figures. With Qiu Fuxue there, no one should discover his identity.
But he was worried, he didn’t want to get caught by an unknown minor sect.
Qiu Fuxue seemed to have noticed his concerns and took the initiative to speak. “Just follow me and don’t run off. As for your identity… I’ll tell you later.”
“Hmm?” Jiufang Cangze said in surprise. “There’s a surprise? What identity can’t you tell me now?”
The man’s face was getting closer and closer. In broad daylight, he was almost touching him. Qiu Fuxue’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he pushed the other man away. “So many questions!”
When they arrived at the Dongyang Sect, they reported their names to the disciples at the gate. In no time, Jie Qiao came out personally to greet them.
He was a slightly overweight middle-aged man who looked very down-to-earth, the exact opposite of Yuan Li Tian’s forced and immortal-like demeanor.
“Sect Leader Qiu! It’s been so many years. In the blink of an eye, you’ve grown so big!”
Jie Qiao welcomed them into the main hall, offering warm hospitality. After a couple of pleasantries, he suddenly looked sad. “Sigh, I was unable to attend the funeral when Sect Leader Yuan was killed by a fiend. I couldn’t get away…”
A hint of sadness appeared on Qiu Fuxue’s face at the right moment. He spoke gently. “Sect Leader’s sincerity is as clear as a mirror. I’m sure my master feels it even in the afterlife. He never cared about these minor details.”
“That’s right. Sect Leader Yuan always had a great sense of righteousness in his heart.” Jie Qiao patted Qiu Fuxue’s shoulder to comfort him. “We must fulfill your master’s dying wish and eliminate all the demons in the world!”
Jiufang Cangze held his teacup, toying with it. He almost crushed it when he heard this.
What a wonderful drama of a kind master and a filial disciple. If Qiu Fuxue hadn’t killed Yuan Li Tian himself, he might have believed it.
At this moment, Jie Qiao noticed Jiufang Cangze and looked at him. “Sect Leader Qiu, I wanted to ask, who is this…?”
Qiu Fuxue turned to him, a gentle smile in his peach blossom eyes, making Jiufang Cangze a little nervous.
“His name is Chuanze, and he’s my last disciple.”
Jiufang Cangze: …Huh? A nemesis turned into a master-disciple relationship?
