“Senior Brother, should I send some people to help you?”

“No need, I can handle it for now.” Qiu Fuxue sat at a table as Li Yun’s voice came through the Lingxi  stone.

On the other side, Jiufang Cangze  was also charming a Lingxi stone with his good looks.

“Your Honor, have you remembered something?”

“A little bit. I remember the Skeleton coming to see me before he left, but I don’t remember what he said.”

Through his own Lingxi stone, Qiu Fuxue heard an echo of Lun Ling’s  voice. He narrowed his eyes in displeasure. “A-Yun, is Lun Ling with you?”

Li Yun was silent for a moment, then Lun Ling’s voice came from the other side. “Are you looking for me, Sect Leader Qiu?”

And Jiufang Cangze also heard a clear echo on his end.

Qiu Fuxue shook his head helplessly, a smile in his eyes. It seemed Xu Wan and Li Yun were getting along well, otherwise Lun Ling wouldn’t have taken a Lingxi stone by himself.

Qiu Fuxue’s expression was a little crestfallen. He held the hand that was on his shoulder. His lips parted, but he couldn’t seem to speak.

His hidden thoughts had been exposed. Qiu Fuxue decided not to hide anymore. He relaxed and leaned all his weight against Jiufang Cangze.

He held up his hand. The string of crimson beads and a plain, unremarkable stone were tied together on his slender wrist.

“The value of an item is given by a person. The things you gave me before were rare, but you should also remember what you did to me.”

With his help, Jiufang Cangze recalled his past misdeeds. He pursed his lips in distress. “Then… I’ll use a lifetime to make it up to you.”

“A lifetime, those are just empty words.” Qiu Fuxue slowly lowered his eyelashes. “It’s a pity for me. My feelings hadn’t even awakened, yet I was already taken advantage of by a rascal like you.”

“A-Xue…” Jiufang Cangze was filled with guilt. His lips were slightly parted, but he couldn’t say a single word. At this moment, no amount of apologetic words could make up for his actions.

“I won’t settle.” Qiu Fuxue looked up, his expression serious. “Jiufang Cangze, I admit I have feelings for you, but I need a concrete promise.”

Qiu Fuxue looked up at him, watching his handsome features slowly get closer. Their breaths became intertwined.

It was a light, fleeting kiss, but it was more satisfying than all the passionate kisses they had shared in the past.

Jiufang Cangze changed his position, lifting him into a bridal carry. He performed his habitual action, gently stroking the beauty mark.

Qiu Fuxue wrapped his arms around his neck and looked at him seriously, his eyes filled with a rare tenderness. “You like this place so much?”

“Yes.” Jiufang Cangze didn’t let go. “A-Xue is the most beautiful.”

He lowered his head, wanting to get a second kiss, but was suddenly interrupted by a violent knocking on the door.

In an instant, his arms were empty.

He turned his head stiffly and saw Qiu Fuxue, his clothes neat, sitting calmly at the table sipping tea. If it weren’t for the lingering blush on his cheeks, Jiufang Cangze would have thought it was all a dream.

“He’s that fast…?”

“Bang! Bang! Bang!” There was another round of knocking and a man’s gruff shouting. “Open up! Open up!”

Both their expressions changed slightly. They looked at each other, and Jiufang Cangze got up and opened the door.

A group of officers immediately rushed in.

The one in charge said arrogantly, “Government business!”

Jiufang Cangze hated nothing more than people putting on airs in front of him, especially mortals. He raised his fist, ready to strike.

“What case?” Qiu Fuxue’s voice suddenly came from behind him.

The officer leader glared at Jiufang Cangze, walked around him, and went up to Qiu Fuxue. “It’s classified. Young Master, you’re a reasonable person. Just stay put and don’t move. We’ll leave once we’re done searching.”

Qiu Fuxue put down his teacup and said faintly, “Please, do.”

A few officers searched the room, as if looking for something. They turned over every corner but didn’t make a big mess.

After the search, the officer didn’t seem to have found what he was looking for. He perfunctorily said, “Sorry for the trouble,” and led his men to search the next room.

Lan Shiyi and Jing An’s room were not spared either.

All the rooms in the inn were searched. After the officers left, the guests walked out, looking confused, and discussed noisily.
