After Helping the Protagonist Escape From a Madman, I Became His Target [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 20
Early in the morning, Shen Luyang was sleeping soundly. He didn’t even notice his alarm clock going off, simply rolling over to continue his slumber.
That was until a specific nerve—the one belonging to a corporate slave, suddenly twitched.
He groggily grabbed his phone. One look at the time: 6:50 AM.
Crap!
Shen Luyang bolted upright, threw on a random set of clothes, and sprinted toward the bathroom while pulling on his socks.
The office drone was going to be late!
The 2,000-yuan salary was about to be docked!
He washed his face and brushed his teeth so fast he nearly produced sparks. He didn’t even have time to buy breakfast, yet he was still late.
After signing his name on the log, Shen Luyang resigned himself to his fate. He parked his car in the shed with a Zen-like calm, even lingering there for a while before stepping out.
He had thought carefully about yesterday’s events. He figured he was just so impressed because it was the first time he’d met someone as good-looking as Xie Weihan, and then a series of accidents had led to a bit of an “indescribable” relationship. It was only natural that the impression was deep and hard to forget.
Add to that his gender-blind devotion to beauty and the fact that he was “tasting meat” for the first time in this inherently ambiguous ABO world. It was inevitable that he’d lose his grip a little.
Ultimately, his self-control was just pitiably thin. It was fine normally, but it wasn’t enough to withstand someone like Teacher Xie.
It’s fine; I’m straight.
Shen Luyang remained optimistic. Once he calmed down and looked at some beautiful women, he’d be back to normal.
Instead of heading to the office, he went to the cafeteria to buy a bottle of mineral water and some bread, eating and drinking as he strolled leisurely. At this hour, Lanjiang Fifth High was quiet. Students were in class for morning self-study, and most teachers had just arrived at their offices. Occasional sounds drifted over from the teaching buildings.
It was the pure atmosphere of a youth campus.
Shen Luyang felt a bit nostalgic for his own high school days. Back in middle school, plenty of people around him were in “puppy love.” Because of his handsome face, quite a few people had pursued him too.
But he had felt it wasn’t right; puppy love was wrong. In high school, his deskmate and the person in front of him were constantly hugging and kissing. Shen Luyang thought that was puppy love too, so that was also a no-go. When girls confessed to him, he’d say, “Wait until graduation.” As a result, he was often labeled a “scumbag who leads people on.”
But he was serious; graduation meant being an adult, and only then could you date.
However, by the time he stepped out of the gaokao exam hall, every girl who had ever confessed to him already had a boyfriend. Fate is a fickle thing; miraculously, Shen Luyang hadn’t even managed to date in university. Looking in the mirror, he had once seriously doubted if his face simply didn’t fit the public aesthetic.
Impossible! Just yesterday, the lady selling soy milk had given him an extra spoonful of sugar!
How strange.
He crushed his milk carton, tossed it into the trash, and decided to run two laps around the track to wake himself up before heading to the office. Just as he reached the track and took off his jacket, the System’s urgent voice rang in his head.
[Emergency Mission: Xie Weihan and Shi Fan are about to have physical contact! Warning! There is currently an 80% probability of Xie Weihan falling in love with Shi Fan!]
[Consequence: There is an 80% chance that Shi Fan will trigger Xie Weihan’s obsession! An irreversible bond will form between them!]
[Mission: Prevent the physical contact between Shi Fan and Xie Weihan. Separate them immediately and eliminate any feelings Xie Weihan might develop for Shi Fan.]
[Failure Penalty: Level One Divine Lightning Strike!]
“Holy crap!” Shen Luyang grabbed his jacket and bolted, so panicked he forgot to speak internally. “Tongtong! Where are they?”
[The Lab Building! Hurry, Luyang! Teacher Xie is finding it very hard to control himself right now!]
“I know!” Shen Luyang made a sharp turn and sprinted toward the Lab Building, his heart sinking. “Is that lightning strike going to kill me? Tongtong, which floor?”
[You won’t die! The top floor—the 6th!]
Shen Luyang was breaking down. “Does Teacher Xie have an obsession with high floors? I’m definitely telling him not to climb so high next time!”
Reaching the Lab Building, Shen Luyang gritted his teeth and sprinted up to the fifth floor. As he turned the corner toward the sixth, he watched helplessly as Shi Fan lost his footing and fell right into Xie Weihan’s arms…
Holy.
Crap.
[Mission failed. Penalty initiated.]
A lightning strike, for heaven’s sake!
“F—k!” Shen Luyang roared out loud.
The shout cleared Shi Fan’s clouded mind for a second. When he saw Shen Luyang gasping like a dying dog while clutching the handrail, he blinked and called out dazed, “Teacher Shen?”
Xie Weihan’s hand rested gentlemanly on the other’s shoulder before he pushed him away with seamless detachment. His voice was deep and distant. “Teacher Shi, please be careful.”
Shen Luyang’s head was filled with “I’m doomed.” They had shared a moment; the mission was going to fail. He gritted his teeth and climbed one more step, trying to snap them out of it. “Teacher Xie, Teacher Shi, you—”
Before he could finish, his heart gave a sudden, heavy thud! It felt like an invisible hand had squeezed it tight. His mouth fell open, his pupils dilated, and he collapsed onto one knee, clutching his chest.
The System’s voice became mechanical.
[Penalty Start: Level One Divine Lightning Strike—Specifically, an uncontrollable rut will be triggered. We hope the Host survives this safely.]
Shen Luyang clutched his chest, his heartbeat thundering in his ears like a war drum. His throat was parched, the back of his neck was burning hot, and his teeth ached with a frantic desire to bite.
As a person from a modern society suddenly thrust into a rut that could drive countless Alphas insane, Shen Luyang was shocked that “Divine Lightning” turned out to be this kind of strike. Was Tongtong a former employee of a smut site?!
No one had ever taught him how to handle a rut!
The scent of hot cocoa pheromones rapidly diffused with Shen Luyang at the center. His pupils shifted, and his nose suddenly caught a faint, lingering scent of milk. With bloodshot eyes, he stood up and began to walk downstairs uncontrollably.
He remembered that on his way up, an Omega teacher was on the third floor making a phone call…
Shen Luyang knew he shouldn’t go, but he was so thirsty, so miserable. He needed pheromones; he wanted an Omega.
F—k!
Shen Luyang slapped himself hard across the face, the pain bringing a moment of clarity. According to the rules of this world, he was currently a criminal-in-waiting. He couldn’t go near an Omega, so what was he supposed to…
Intoxicating red wine occupied every inch of Shen Luyang’s senses in an instant, blocking out every other factor trying to influence him. Shen Luyang looked up sluggishly; Xie Weihan had appeared before him.
Shi Fan had fainted at the top of the stairs; he was the only one left standing under the pressure of the S-class Alpha.
Shen Luyang’s eyes were crimson as he looked into those dark, ink-like eyes. He leaned against the wall, his whole body tense like a beast trying to suppress a hunger for human flesh—terrifying yet pitiful. He hissed through gritted teeth, “I need… a doctor.”
In the sun-drenched hallway, tree shadows flickered outside the window under the scorching sun. Inside, the intoxicating scent of red wine ravaged his fragile nerves. The sense of immorality in his mind shattered his desires, only for them to be pieced back together by his parched throat.
Xie Weihan’s hand gripped the collar of his black shirt and pulled it down. The movement seemed to slow down a thousand times in Shen Luyang’s eyes, and his Adam’s apple bobbed uncontrollably. His remaining shred of logic made him take a half-step back, pressing against the wall as he shook his head. “No… Teacher Xie, not… you…”
Xie Weihan’s other hand supported the side of his face, the movement excessively gentle. The calloused pad of his thumb brushed over Shen Luyang’s dry lips. Their foreheads touched, and the man’s voice was tender and indulgent.
“No rush. I’m listening.”
Shen Luyang gasped, sweat trailing down his jawline and into his collar. He repeated hoarsely, “Right now… I can’t… be near you…”
Xie Weihan’s brow quirked slightly. He gently pried open Shen Luyang’s clenched fingers, and the hand on his face moved to soothe the tip of his ear. His gaze held a dark, suggestive lure. “Why?”
A look of internal struggle flashed across Shen Luyang’s dazed face. He turned his head and rested it on Xie Weihan’s shoulder. He reached back and gripped Xie Weihan’s fingers, locking them tight, his voice rasping low against the man’s shoulder with an air of resignation: “I’ll get hard…”
A soft chuckle escaped Xie Weihan’s lips. His fingertips meticulously traced the gland at the back of Shen Luyang’s neck, rewarding his honesty. Like a canine being petted, Shen Luyang’s mouth fell open as he gasped for air. The steaming pheromones raced through his body, urging him to bite, possess, and conquer.
The more he suppressed it, the more agonizing it became.
“Let’s go.”
The voice in his ear seemed to hold a magical power, enticing Shen Luyang to abandon all hope of escape. He followed, step by step, as he was led into an empty office.
The vacant hallway was reclaimed by the warm morning sun, though a lingering hint of pheromones remained. As the two figures vanished, the craving cocoa was surrounded by the shadowy red wine, tightening little by little… until no one else could smell a thing.
The click of the door locking briefly snapped Shen Luyang back to his senses.
He looked ahead, his gaze landing on the man’s sexy jawline, his crimson lips, the prominent Adam’s apple, and finally, the exposed collarbone… He had bitten that spot before; he still remembered the taste of the blood.
Xie Weihan pinned him against the door. He teased Shen Luyang by pinching his earlobe, his soft lips brushing against the tip of his ear, leaving a damp, warm sensation before pulling away. The magnetic voice lingered at his ear, enticing his soul with patient guidance: “What do you want?”
Shen Luyang stared blankly at the floor. His brain, tortured by the rut until only instinct remained, struggled to identify the meaning of the words. Yet, they only caused a small ripple in the intoxicating wine, making a bud of desire tremble at his heart.
He opened his mouth like a good boy making his first mistake and lightly nipped at the side of Xie Weihan’s neck, not even leaving a tooth mark. His voice was tight as he spoke his greatest desire, though it wasn’t the “correct” answer: “I… I want to mark. I need… an Omega.”
The first time had been a doctor, and Shen Luyang had remained rational.
The second time was an Omega, and Shen Luyang had only instinct left.
But Xie Weihan suddenly pulled away. He released the interlocking fingers and moved out of reach of the craving teeth, his eyes dark and dangerous as he watched Shen Luyang’s bewildered expression. An unreadable smile curved his lips, his gaze fixed on Shen Luyang’s slightly parted mouth as he called him patiently, “Luyang, who am I?”
Shen Luyang’s breath hitched, then became a chaotic mess. He grabbed the man’s lapels and swallowed hard, his voice low and strained. “Teacher Xie. Xie Weihan. You are Xie Weihan.”
A soft chuckle, like the sound of a cello, filled the room, and the air rippled with layers of ambiguity.
“What do you want?”
“…You.”
The alluring red wine swept through the room. Xie Weihan picked Shen Luyang up and placed him on a nearby desk. He leaned in with one hand braced beside him, while the other pulled his collar open to reveal his pale collarbone. The wound from last time had just healed, sitting there like a mark the owner had indulgently allowed to remain on his body.
The blue veins were visible beneath the skin. The teeth marks on the collarbone awakened erotic memories, and Shen Luyang’s pupils contracted. His suppressed desire was like a shattered porcelain bowl; it spilled out completely, dousing the last flame of his reason.
He opened his mouth and bit down hard.
The blood felt as if it had been infused with red wine—an addiction hidden beneath a sweet sugar coating. The beading blood blossomed on the jade-like skin, only to be roughly and urgently swept away by his tongue, flowing down his parched throat and soothing the restless agitation in his body.
His flushed eyes were filled with ferocity and satisfaction. Shen Luyang’s cheeks held an unnatural heat, and sweat slid down the side of his neck. His back was tense, and every muscle in his body was straining to hold the man in front of him tight, as if he were his last lifeline.
He craved…
He needed…
The pure morning light filtered through the glass, spilling onto the man’s back. The curve of his lips was like that of a devil whose temptation had succeeded, his eyes dark and tender as he watched the oblivious Alpha in his arms. Even the sun was defeated by the dark, bloody desire, hiding behind the clouds.
Shen Luyang’s frantic hands moved from Xie Weihan’s shoulders, following the defined musculature of his back down to his waist. But as he tried to go further, his hands were caught.
He looked at Xie Weihan in confusion. The man’s cool fingertips slid from the pad of his index finger to his palm, lingering at his wrist, almost touching but not quite, teasing his precarious nerves… Shen Luyang’s breath grew heavy. He pulled the slender hand toward him and pressed it firmly against his own waist…
