After Getting Pregnant, I’m Divorcing My Alpha - Chapter 27
“Pick what you like to eat, leave the rest for me.” Shen Xiao handed An Xiangdi a pair of chopsticks.
An Xiangdi stared at Shen Xiao, his beautiful peach blossom eyes seeming to sparkle. “Didn’t I tell you not to come?”
“Couldn’t help it my legs are too long, one step and I was already here.”
An Xiangdi couldn’t suppress a smile. Not wanting to appear too obvious, he ducked into the back seat of the car.
On the passenger seat sat three large boxes of waxberries. Who knew where Shen Xiao had managed to buy so many.
“The waxberries haven’t been washed yet. I’ll have Liu Qing wash them later.” Shen Xiao’s assistant, Liu Qing, had now fully taken on the role of a gofer.
The lunchbox contained light yet nutritious food. Though the flavors were somewhat plain, the elegant presentation made it quite appetizing.
An Xiangdi picked and chose, eating most of it, while Shen Xiao polished off the rest.
“Didn’t the reporters stop you when you came?” An Xiangdi recalled the scene earlier that morning when the reporters had swarmed. If they hadn’t left, they definitely wouldn’t have let Shen Xiao pass unnoticed.
“This isn’t my usual car.” Reporters were often more familiar with celebrities’ frequently used vehicles than the celebrities themselves. But after landing, Shen Xiao had borrowed Cheng Youyi’s car, which was fitted with anti-peep window film, making it impossible for reporters to see inside.
An Xiangdi hadn’t noticed until Shen Xiao mentioned it. Out of curiosity, he hopped out of the car to take a look and confirmed it wasn’t Shen Xiao’s usual vehicle.
“I borrowed Cheng Youyi’s car.” Shen Xiao tossed the empty lunchbox aside. “Want to take a nap in the car?”
“No, I discussed with Director Wang about moving my scenes forward.” An Xiangdi’s shooting schedule over the next few days would be slightly more intensive. Finishing early would benefit both him and the crew.
“I’ll go in with you.” Shen Xiao took An Xiangdi’s hand, and they walked back into the studio together.
The scent of brandy Shen Xiao’s Alpha pheromones drifted through the air. Everyone who was eating looked up, surprised to see Shen Xiao back again so soon after he had left just the day before.
“Mr. Shen, why are you back again?” a staff member blurted out, voicing what everyone was thinking.
“If I’d known you’d be here every day, I’d have asked you to make a free cameo in the show,” Wang Xingxiu remarked, finishing the last bite of his meal.
“Free labor is fine by me.” Shen Xiao was happy to take on the role, especially since he had nothing else to do lately.
“Never mind, I can’t afford to hire you.” Wang Xingxiu joked as he walked away.
Taking advantage of the lighthearted atmosphere, Ying Chong approached the two. “Do you have a moment? I’d like to talk to you about something.”
“Sure.” Shen Xiao answered for An Xiangdi, and they followed Ying Chong to a quiet corner.
“Regarding the matter with Zhao Zeyun, I owe you both a formal apology. I’m sorry.” Ying Chong spoke earnestly. “I shouldn’t have agreed when Yang Chu first asked me for help. Today, Brother Yao told me about some past issues between him and you, An Xiangdi. I realize I’ve caused you a lot of trouble.”
“Let bygones be bygones. There’s no need for you to dwell on it, Film Emperor.” An Xiangdi wasn’t one to hold grudges. Zhao Zeyun was just a spoiled child, and they probably wouldn’t cross paths again.
“That’s good to hear. I’ll go speak with Wei Yi as well.” Ying Chong nodded politely to An Xiangdi and Shen Xiao before heading over to Wei Yi.
The afternoon shoot involved a group scene with the five He siblings. With so many people involved, there were many unpredictable factors during the scene, so everyone was mentally prepared for multiple takes and constant repetition.
While An Xiangdi was filming, Shen Xiao called Yao Honglang outside.
“How are you planning to handle the trending topic?”
“Let it cool down on its own,” Yao Honglang said. “We still have no leads on who was behind it.”
“Alright, I’ll investigate this myself. For now, stop managing the new boy group from Yisheng. A new manager will take over tonight.”
“Fine by me. I never liked managing boy groups anyway. Too many people, too young, too much trouble.” Yao Honglang preferred working with slightly more mature artists, preferably the kind that didn’t require much fussing over.
Shen Xiao ignored his pickiness. “Don’t bring An Xiangdi any more boxed meals from the crew. He can’t eat that kind of food.”
“Oh.” Yao Honglang belatedly remembered that An Xiangdi was pregnant, and those greasy meals were indeed unsuitable for him.
“I recall you signed him up for an outdoor variety show? Cancel it.”
“Alright.” The outdoor show required a lot of running around, which was definitely not suitable.
“That’s all for now. I’ll let you know if there’s anything else.”
“Mm.” At this point, Yao Honglang sounded like an emotionless response machine.
Shen Xiao stood up and was about to head back inside when he suddenly remembered something and turned around. “Oh, and contact the production team of ‘Survival’ for me. Wei Yi won’t be able to film two episodes in the middle let them choose which two. But if there’s a third season, Wei Yi will still be a regular.”
“You want me to handle Wei Yi’s matters? Doesn’t he have his own manager?” Yao Honglang grumbled under his breath but still walked to a corner to call the “Survival” production team.
At this moment, anyone who saw Yao Honglang like this would be utterly shocked.
A top-tier manager in the entertainment industry, known for his authority and decisiveness, was actually taking orders from an ordinary A-list actor.
Inside the studio, An Xiangdi and the others were filming the climax of the entire series. Everyone on set held their breath, afraid that even the slightest noise would disrupt the shoot.
The most crucial turning point in “The Yellowing Season” was the conflict among the five He siblings in the living room over their inheritance and their parents’ memorial tablets. During the dispute, the second sister, He Wan, lost an eye, the fourth brother, He Qiao, broke a leg, and the third sister, He Hua, smashed their parents’ memorial tablets on the floor.
The parents of the five He siblings had passed away early, and their will stated that when the youngest son, He Sheng, turned twenty-two, the entire inheritance would be divided equally among the five.
However, the older siblings were naturally unwilling to accept this. They had worked hard to raise their younger siblings, only to end up with the same share of the inheritance, leaving them deeply resentful.
Some, like He Qiao, took extreme measures, directly confronting the eldest brother, He Qiang, and getting into a physical fight. He Wan, while struggling with He Hua, was pushed and hit the corner of a table.
Only He Sheng, who was self-abased and timid, neither intervened nor spoke, but witnessed the collapse of his family.
“Mom and Dad giving birth to you was a mistake!” He Qiao roared, his face red and neck bulging.
“Without me, would you even be alive today? Don’t make me laugh! A coward is a coward stingy and can’t even keep a wife!” He Qiang deliberately targeted He Qiao’s sore spots.
A fist, swift as the wind, slammed into He Qiao’s chin. Wei Yi, failing to control his strength, actually punched him for real. He even heard the sound of bone cracking, which terrified him and left him completely flustered.
Ying Chong, who played “He Qiang,” was genuinely in pain, but he knew that landing real hits would yield the best filming results. Without giving Wei Yi any time to react, he immediately charged forward and started grappling with him.
On the other side, An Xiao, who played “He Wan,” and Wang Qiao, who played “He Hua,” were also arguing loudly, their voices nearly strong enough to lift the roof.
An Xiangdi, playing “He Sheng,” stood helplessly to the side, his face filled with sorrow. He wanted to step in and stop them, but his timidity held him back.
Suddenly, “He Hua” slapped “He Wan” across the face. The imprint of five fingers immediately appeared on An Xiao’s cheek, turning it bright red.
Following the script, after being hit, “He Wan,” in a fit of rage, picked up an empty vase to smash at “He Hua.” But she slipped on water that had spilled from the vase, and when “He Hua” pushed her, she stumbled and hit the corner of a table.
Normally, the positions for falls in a scene are predetermined, and the placement of props is carefully planned.
But whether it was an illusion or not, as An Xiao was pushed and began to fall, she barely had time to notice that the table was not in the right position. It was already too late to change the direction of her fall.
Seeing that An Xiao was about to hit the corner of the table with her temple not in a staged shot but for real, An Xiangdi snapped out of his role as “He Sheng.” Without a moment’s hesitation, he rushed over and placed his hand over the sharp corner of the table.
An Xiao’s head slammed hard into An Xiangdi’s hand, which was pressed against the table’s edge. The force caused the table leg to screech as it slid backward.
No one had expected an accident like this to happen on set. Before Wang Xingxiu could even call for help, a figure flew past him.
Shen Xiao cradled An Xiangdi’s hand, his eyes red with distress. Clenching his jaw, he asked, “Does it hurt?”
“It’s alright.” An Xiangdi’s hand had gone numb from the impact, so he couldn’t feel the pain at first.
But in reality, pressed against the sharp corner of the table and subjected to the force of the fall, his hand had already been cut deeply. Blood dripped from his hand onto the floor.
An Xiao wasn’t faring much better either. Although An Xiangdi had cushioned her fall, her head was still throbbing with pain.
“The table the table’s position.” An Xiao rubbed her temple and shakily stood up.
“The table was in the wrong position,” Ying Chong added, rubbing his jaw where Wei Yi had landed a solid punch, finishing the sentence for her.
“Where is the props team? I told you to secure everything properly! Are you all blind?! How did you check this?!” Wang Xingxiu’s face flushed red with anger. If anyone got hurt on set, the entire crew would be in trouble, and now, of all people, it was An Xiangdi the last person who should have been injured.
Shen Xiao’s expression darkened as he lifted An Xiangdi by the back of his knees, carrying him in his arms.
“Hey, it’s just my hand.” An Xiangdi started to say, “It’s just my hand that’s hurt,” but when he caught the intense, oppressive scent of Shen Xiao’s pheromones, he knew Shen Xiao was truly furious.
“If this isn’t resolved, we’re shutting down the production.” In the past, if Shen Xiao had spoken like this, Wang Xingxiu would have torn into him. But everyone in the industry’s upper echelons knew that the landscape had changed.
Tension filled the air, and the studio fell into a dead silence. Suddenly, a faint, sweet Omega scent began to drift through the room.
An Xiangdi grabbed Shen Xiao with his uninjured hand, his eyes red as he yelled, “Your pheromones control them!”
Shen Xiao tightened his hold on An Xiangdi, grabbed his own coat that Liu Qing had brought, and draped it over An Xiangdi’s head before swiftly carrying him into the van.
An Xiangdi sat dazedly in the back seat, instinctively clutching Shen Xiao’s coat, his entire face flushed red. The pain on the back of his hand was barely noticeable.
He had just caught a faint whiff of his own pheromones a subtle sweetness that didn’t quite resemble flowers but felt familiar and common. When it mingled with Shen Xiao’s brandy-like pheromones, it left him feeling lightheaded and euphoric.
