After Getting Married to My Obsessive Older Sister - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
The next day, Chu Yiqiao woke up and found herself in Tan Ze’s bed. No one was beside her, but the lingering warmth indicated that Tan Ze hadn’t left long ago. She was wearing a nightgown and felt fresh—Tan Ze had bathed her yesterday—but that area was uncomfortably sore and swollen.
Ugh, so annoying!
Chu Yiqiao lifted her right hand and saw the bracelet again. The room’s curtains were tightly closed, but in the gloom, the main ruby stone still shone brightly.
She had seen in the report yesterday that the chip’s main functions were location tracking and monitoring physiological data. It was similar to the “life safety device for solo dwellers” that Chu Yiqiao had seen in the news, the kind that calls 911 if a pulse stops.
Chu Yiqiao spun the bracelet around, studying it. The design was beautiful. Who knew it was both beautiful and practical?
She rolled twice on the bed. She found it embarrassing that she was completely unbothered by this. Wasn’t it too low-self-esteem if she wasn’t angry at all?
After all, Chu Lingtong had planned to make a huge deal out of this yesterday. Maybe for a normal person, surveillance and location tracking were unacceptable?
Chu Yiqiao was too lazy to get up. She crawled over to the bedside table for her phone, opened WeChat, and was surprised to find that Tan Ze had un-blacklisted her and shamelessly pinned their chat.
Chu Yiqiao originally had five pinned chats: the group chat with the three of them, the class group, the course group, her advisor… Now, there was only Tan Ze left, and the name was still the one Chu Yiqiao had been using: “Wife Wife.”
Her throat was hoarse from talking too much yesterday. Chu Yiqiao took a screenshot and sent it to their conversation box.
÷: “How did you go through my phone!!!!”
WifeWife: “Hmm, you can go through mine too.”
÷: “I don’t want to go through your phone! I need privacy.”
Bad Woman: “I love you.”
What kind of irrelevant read receipt is that!
Chu Yiqiao scrolled down and re-pinned her various group chats. She clicked on “Non-Inheritor Alliance”, pondered for a long time, and typed.
Chu Yiqiao: “I have a friend whose girlfriend installed a locator on her. It’s so scary!”
Bei Tong: “Scary, or awesome? Tell the truth.”
Yan Yuanjing: “It depends on the person’s tolerance. I could accept it.”
Bei Tong: “I’m so-so, but then there are no more surprises. And if she watches it every day, that’s too perverted.”
Chu Yiqiao: “Her girlfriend is very busy with work. She definitely won’t watch it every day. And even if she watches it every day, doesn’t that mean she really, really likes her?”
Bei Tong: “Then I suggest your friend and her girlfriend lock it down for life.”
As Chu Yiqiao was typing this, Tan Ze was in the study next door, watching the camera in her room.
Of course, she wasn’t staring intently; that would be a bit perverted. She was in a video conference. Chu Yiqiao was just a small window in the corner.
Tan Ze had, of course, read the documents and photos Chu Yiqiao had brought home. The information was so detailed that Tan Ze suspected there was an internal spy in her company. Even the original draft of the will was there. Everything was written so convincingly; no wonder Chu Yiqiao agreed after reading only a few points. She truly knew too little.
Tan Ze knew she was wrong now. She should have told Chu Yiqiao the general situation beforehand. Even if Chu Yiqiao didn’t understand or care to listen, it would have been enough for her to know to run away from a psychopath.
Lawyer Bai Shaoman took on this project in early March. After nearly three months of work, it was finally coming to an end. Whether the other party sued first or Tan Ze preemptively struck, she was fully confident she could win.
Halfway through their discussion, Zhao Jingxing took a call and reported: “Fang Yizhen woke up. She said she has a recording and will send it to you if we let her go home.”
Tan Ze let out a soft laugh: “What a coincidence, I have one too. Tell her that’s what happens to a double agent. If she causes any more trouble, I’ll ‘call her mom’—let’s see if Fang Yihe knows her good sister is working two jobs.”
Lawyer Bai Shaoman muted her computer the moment Tan Ze spoke. As long as she didn’t hear it, she was still a righteous partner.
Chu Lingtong was still in Yanjing. Tan Ze didn’t understand what use an old villa would be to someone who had settled in New York over ten years ago. There were so many valuable things in the Chu family, yet she insisted on the old house that she couldn’t take with her.
Tan Ze had felt something was off since someone started bringing flowers to Chu Lingfeng’s grave. Fang Yizhen was a penny-pincher who loved money. All signs indicated she only cared about Fang Yihe. It was ridiculous to think she would spend money to send flowers to Chu Lingfeng every week. The person sending flowers every week could only have been Chu Lingtong.
It was too abnormal. Tan Ze even had the seven-year-old car accident re-investigated, but the result was the same as before: a pure accident.
Tan Ze was beginning to think that less communication between Chu Yiqiao and Chu Lingtong was a good thing. From her years of observation, there was no normal person in the Chu family.
The application for a negotiated settlement had been sent, but Chu Lingtong had yet to respond. Tan Ze set a deadline: if there was no reply by June 1st at the latest, they would meet in court.
The video call ended. Zhao Jingxing was the first to log off. She let out a long sigh on her lounge chair and opened her photo album, which was full of cat memes and photos.
At the top were photos of Little Guai taken by Chu Yiqiao. A few were of Tan Ze holding the cat. Zhao Jingxing, feeling it was unlucky, cropped out her dead-end boss, leaving only the cat.
She looked at the adorable photos, praying her mood would calm down.
It wouldn’t calm down. The camera had feelings. Even after Zhao Jingxing cropped Tan Ze out, she could still feel Chu Yiqiao’s love.
She hoped this would all end soon, and the young madam and the dead-end boss would be fine. Maybe Zhao Jingxing could get a cat too.
Definitely not one with blue eyes.
On the monitor, Chu Yiqiao was lying in bed, still playing on her phone. Tan Ze closed her laptop and walked in with a cup of warm water.
The moment Tan Ze entered, Chu Yiqiao shot up, her expression changing repeatedly, as if unsure how to face Tan Ze.
“Drink some water first,” Tan Ze handed over the cup. Chu Yiqiao glanced at her and obediently drank.
The kitten Chu Yiqiao picked up was as clingy as her mother. Tan Ze had forgotten to close the door. The next second, the black-and-white cow cat darted in, skillfully jumped onto the chair, then onto the bed, wagged its tail, and settled on Chu Yiqiao’s lap.
Tan Ze took the empty cup. She raised her hand, intending to pull the cat down, but Chu Yiqiao protected it, frowning at Tan Ze: “Don’t.” Her voice was extremely hoarse.
“Speak less, and take care of your voice,” Tan Ze opened the bedside table and handed over a sore throat lozenge.
Chu Yiqiao being in this miserable state after just one argument—what could Tan Ze do with her? Tan Ze would never forget last night. Chu Yiqiao said she wanted a divorce 27 times. Tan Ze only did her 4 times.
“Take this off,” Chu Yiqiao said, with the lozenge in her mouth, presenting her delicate white wrist to Tan Ze. She had discussed it with Bei Tong and the others, and they unanimously agreed it was perverted: “I need privacy.”
Tan Ze considered herself very reasonable and asked Chu Yiqiao in a negotiating tone: “No, can we not?”
Chu Yiqiao was stunned by Tan Ze’s righteous demeanor: “That’s not fair! You can always see me, but I can’t see you!”
Is that what the issue is? That’s easy to solve.
Tan Ze said: “You can see me.”
After saying that, she took Chu Yiqiao’s phone from her hand, swiped a few times, found an inconspicuous app, and clicked it open. The little yellow dot representing Tan Ze was in the study next door.
Tan Ze: “It’s on your phone. You’ve always been able to see it.”
Chu Yiqiao held her phone and stared wide-eyed. She suddenly felt everything was so strange: “When did you install it?”
Tan Ze thought for a few seconds: “After you graduated high school.”
After starting university, Chu Yiqiao’s range of activity increased. The company was expanding at the time and had made many enemies. Tan Ze was afraid Chu Yiqiao would be kidnapped, so she installed it. Later, she became a little addicted and never uninstalled it until the more advanced bracelet appeared.
“Uninstall it!” Chu Yiqiao’s eyes widened. Saying those two words made her cough.
Tan Ze had to help Chu Yiqiao catch her breath. She was confused again: “You can see mine. Isn’t that good?”
“And this is very safe. Last time we went out and you got lost, I used this to find you.”
“Then keep the app, and take off the bracelet,” Chu Yiqiao conceded that Tan Ze had a point.
Tan Ze held Chu Yiqiao’s waist. Chu Yiqiao’s pupils were large and light-colored, easily reflecting other people’s images.
“Uninstall the app, and keep the bracelet,” Tan Ze said: “Chu Lingtong is still in Yanjing. She might come looking for you again. The app on the phone is easy to turn off. The bracelet is better.”
Chu Yiqiao was somewhat persuaded. She hadn’t been that angry to begin with; she was angry about other things: “You hide everything from me, and you don’t tell me. If you had just told me in advance, would it have been better? Am I not trustworthy?”
“I’m sorry,” Tan Ze apologized skillfully, then added: “I love you.”
Chu Yiqiao sat up and hugged Tan Ze, leaning close to her ear and saying, “I love you” too.
Because Tan Ze promised to be honest with Chu Yiqiao from now on, after they ate, she took Chu Yiqiao on a tour of the house, pointing out the locations of the cameras.
Two in the living room, one in Chu Yiqiao’s room, one in Tan Ze’s room, one in the studio, and one in the study.
“There are cameras everywhere!” Chu Yiqiao sat in Tan Ze’s arms, looking at the notebook, which was full of surveillance feeds. She sharply commented: “It’s like a control room.”
In the bottom right corner was the study’s camera feed. In the small screen, two heads were close together.
Tan Ze changed the subject, pointing to the top left screen of Chu Yiqiao’s room: “Little Guai is chewing on the fish again.”
Chu Yiqiao looked up. The little cow cat was hugging a fish toy the same length as itself and chewing on it.
Looking at the adorable kitten in the surveillance, Chu Yiqiao suddenly realized something and frowned: “Sister, were you watching my room before too?”
Tan Ze could lie without batting an eye: “Not very often. I would watch sometimes when I worked overtime.”
Actually, that was the truth. When Tan Ze wanted to secretly watch her, she just opened the door and walked in.
“Okay,” Chu Yiqiao quickly accepted this fact. After all, Tan Ze’s room had one too; it was fair: “Then you have to install it on my phone too.”
Tan Ze agreed and connected all the lines to Chu Yiqiao’s phone as well.
But once Chu Yiqiao started watching, she couldn’t stop. Tan Ze came out after showering and drying her hair. Chu Yiqiao was lying in bed, still staring at the cat on her phone, holding it very close, her eyes unmoving.
Since she learned there were six cameras in the house, Chu Yiqiao had changed Tan Ze’s name tag again. She was no longer “Bad Woman” but “Pervert.”
Tan Ze watched Chu Yiqiao change it and felt wronged. She had tried hard to restrain herself, yet she was still a pervert. She wouldn’t have bothered to hold back if she had known.
“Be careful of myopia,” Tan Ze got into bed and smoothly took the phone from Chu Yiqiao’s hand.
Chu Yiqiao glared at her. Tan Ze quickly turned off the main light. The room instantly plunged into darkness.
No kissing, no physical contact. The two people lay properly in the same bed.
Chu Yiqiao was silent for a few seconds, then spoke: “Sister, are you still hiding anything from me?”
There was still a lot, such as the fireworks on the night they got engaged, the finished ring on Chu Yiqiao’s finger, and Chu Yiqiao’s smooth white forearm… How could Tan Ze possibly tell her everything? She still believed Chu Yiqiao was very fragile and needed meticulous care.
“I brought all your toys from Linhang back,” Tan Ze said.
“Not that!” Chu Yiqiao shouted.
The power of habit was terrifying. Chu Yiqiao unconsciously moved closer to Tan Ze. Her sister’s body temperature wasn’t actually that high, but she just liked being held.
Chu Yiqiao held back, lying on her side, tracing Tan Ze’s profile in the dim light of the small nightlight.
“Sister, what are you going to do?”
Chu Yiqiao’s question was vague, but Tan Ze understood.
“As for Fang Yizhen, I will find Fang Yihe. There’s no reason for someone who profited to continue pretending to be innocent. As for your aunt, I won’t let her get what she wants, no matter what it is.”
“As for you…” Tan Ze paused for a few seconds, then continued: “For you, I’m at my wits’ end.”
Chu Yiqiao could imagine Tan Ze’s current expression, a little wronged: “You just have to hug me.”
Tan Ze glanced at her in the dim light: “Do you want a hug right now?”
Chu Yiqiao nodded without hesitation: “Yes.”
Tan Ze reached out. Chu Yiqiao was hopelessly compliant, nestling in, wrapping her arms around Tan Ze’s waist, and placing her head in Tan Ze’s neck.
The room was silent. Chu Yiqiao clearly heard the sound of a heart beating.
“Thump!” “Thump!” “Thump!”
It was loud, impossible to ignore.
Tan Ze held Chu Yiqiao. The person in her arms suddenly squirmed. She touched her own chest, frowning, then pressed her hand against Tan Ze’s chest.
Tan Ze said expressionlessly: “You’re touching me inappropriately. Who’s the pervert now?”
Chu Yiqiao didn’t answer. The next second, her entire face was pressed against Tan Ze’s right chest.
The heartbeat was getting faster and faster. Chu Yiqiao seemed to have finally figured something out and asked, smiling: “Sister, do you actually really like me hugging you?”
Tan Ze rolled over and hugged Chu Yiqiao: “Go to sleep.”
