After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 37.1
“Mhm.” Chen Yi gripped her phone, reluctant to exit the blank chat window.
It felt as though there was an invisible thread in that window connecting the two of them.
Once seated on the plane, Chen Yi asked He Zhong, “Tell me, how does one usually start a conversation on WeChat?”
He Zhong, who had just buckled his seatbelt, was caught completely off guard.
He thought Chen Yi didn’t know how to use the app and prepared to unbuckle his belt to help her.
“No need to come over. Just tell me.”
He Zhong stopped and opened his own WeChat. “First, you have to open the app…”
“That’s not what I meant.” Chen Yi’s eyes shifted slightly. “I mean, if you are talking to someone, what is usually the very first thing you say?”
Chen Yi’s expression was unnatural.
He Zhong paused, then said, “Start by asking if they are there.”
“That’s it?” Chen Yi looked up, then immediately looked away again.
He Zhong added, “Or, you could ask what Shen Xiaojiang is doing right now, or if she’s woken up yet.”
“Who… who said I was going to talk to her?” Chen Yi blinked, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Her duplicity was entirely unlike her usual self.
The moment the name “Shen Xiaojiang” was mentioned, the aura of the formidable “Seventh Mistress” vanished without a trace.
For some reason, He Zhong couldn’t help but let out a muffled chuckle.
Chen Yi turned off her phone and irritably opened her tablet, absentmindedly browsing through a marketing plan for the bar.
After a long silence, He Zhong sighed.
“Seventh Mistress, you’ve changed recently.”
“How so?” Chen Yi feigned composure.
He Zhong took a risk and spoke up. “You seem… happier than before. You used to smile all the time, but I knew you weren’t truly happy.”
“Enough, I have work to do.” After saying this, Chen Yi took a sip of water.
“But, do you really intend to continue this?” He Zhong asked again.
“Hm?” Chen Yi had a rough idea of what he meant.
He Zhong’s eyes were filled with a desperate desire for survival: “I don’t dislike her. I’m just stating facts.”
“Shen Xiaojiang is clean. She has nothing to do with Young Boss Bai, and she can’t be a mole. Therefore, there is no need for us to keep in contact with her.” He Zhong said earnestly, “Ending it early would be better for both of you.”
It was true; this was exactly what Chen Yi had decided from the start.
But she had changed her mind.
She didn’t want to let go of Shen Xiaojiang’s hand.
Every voice of doubt sounded incredibly piercing to her ears.
“He Zhong,” Chen Yi’s face grew cold and dark, every word sounding as if it had been frozen in Lake Baikal, “what exactly are you trying to say?”
Normally, He Zhong wouldn’t dare say another word, but today, even if he were thrown off the plane, he had to speak.
“You treat her differently than everyone else. But in the end, you belong to two different worlds. If you keep her by your side, she will become your weakness.”
Silence fell over the cabin. The atmospheric pressure seemed to drop to a critical level.
He Zhong swallowed hard, his gaze shifting away from Chen Yi’s face to nervously watch his own toes.
Suddenly, Chen Yi said coldly, “If a person doesn’t even have a single weakness, how are they any different from a machine?”
More than ten hours later, the plane landed.
Chen Yi dragged her exhausted body back to the hotel.
“Good evening, Seventh Mistress!”
Over a dozen hotel staff stood in two rows, greeting her politely. It looked like a scene from a TV drama.
Exhausted as she was, Chen Yi remained spirited and kept her smile in place.
In front of others, she was emotionally stable, polite, and modest showing the same expression and attitude to everyone.
“Mhm.” Carrying her bag, Chen Yi walked with her head held high. Beneath her high-slit qipao, her snowy white, supple legs were incredibly eye-catching.
As she walked into the lobby, people began to whisper behind her.
“My god, does a face like that actually exist?”
“Don’t blame those men for craving her. Our Seventh Mistress was born to be a legendary beauty that topples empires.”
“Exactly. Those fox-like eyes nearly snatched my soul away. If I were a man, in a heartbeat…”
“Why do you have to be a man? Nowadays, it’s all about girls sleeping with girls…”
Hearing the voices, Shen Xiaojiang immediately stood up from the sofa.
Chen Yi hadn’t expected to see Shen Xiaojiang here. The moment their eyes met, she stopped in her tracks.
Shen Xiaojiang wiped her palms hard against her pants and stammered, “I… it’s nothing. You said you’d be back in about two days. I thought there was a chance Princess might starve to death, so I came to check. I…”
Chen Yi could hear her own heart beating so fast it was suffocating.
This time, Shen Xiaojiang was the source of light, and Chen Yi was the cat chasing it.
Why was it so hard to look away? It had only been two days, hadn’t it?
The two remained silent for a full minute before Chen Yi was the first to let out a chuckle.
“Then why didn’t you go up?” Her voice was soft, with a trace of lazy hoarseness.
Shen Xiaojiang scratched her neck. “I felt like… that might not be appropriate.”
“How so?” Chen Yi slowly raised her eyes, her gaze landing on Shen Xiaojiang’s lips.
Shen Xiaojiang smiled awkwardly. “I didn’t want to just show up without saying hello…”
“Come here.”
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t hear her clearly. “What?”
Meeting Shen Xiaojiang’s gaze, Chen Yi’s heart was in a mess, yet she feigned composure.
She stopped speaking, fearing that every word out of her mouth would tremble with her inner turmoil.
Shen Xiaojiang stared at her blankly, her eyes filled with fragmented light.
It was exactly the freedom and light that Chen Yi had been desperately searching for.
Chen Yi raised her hand and gave a soft, two fingered beckon.
Shen Xiaojiang tightened her grip on her chest bag strap and walked toward Chen Yi under the watchful eyes of everyone.
He Zhong waved his hand, dismissing the crowd. Then, he bowed slightly to Shen Xiaojiang, gave a polite nod, and turned to leave.
Considering this was a public place, Shen Xiaojiang stood at a bit of a distance.
While sitting on the sofa earlier, she had rehearsed several scenarios for meeting Chen Yi. She had even thought of her first line.
But seeing Chen Yi now, she couldn’t remember a thing. It was like being led by the nose by an invisible rope.
She looked up and met Chen Yi’s lazy gaze.
Under the soft lighting, Chen Yi’s skin looked matte. Her figure, bound by the qipao, looked so soft and delicate.
Shen Xiaojiang gripped her bag strap tightly and waited obediently for the other to speak.
Chen Yi squinted and laughed silently. Then, she slowly reached out toward Shen Xiaojiang.
A faint scent from her wrist followed.
Shen Xiaojiang watched the approaching hand, forgetting to blink.
Chen Yi’s fingertip lightly brushed against a button on Shen Xiaojiang’s shirt before sliding toward the strap of her chest bag.
She glanced at Shen Xiaojiang, her finger pad rubbing against the strap, making a faint rustling sound.
“Shen Xiaojiang.”
“Yes.”
“Why do you like this kind of bag?”
Shen Xiaojiang looked at Chen Yi’s finger on the strap and answered honestly, “Be… because it’s convenient.”
“Oh?”
Chen Yi’s phoenix eyes tilted upward slightly, her voice incredibly lingering.
“Look, it’s constricted right here. Are you sure you aren’t… trying to seduce me?”
Shen Xiaojiang watched as Chen Yi’s finger slowly climbed upward, stopping just before reaching a certain spot.
The fingertip slowly traced the edge of a button, poking into the gap between two of them.
“Auntie!”
Shen Xiaojiang grabbed Chen Yi’s fingers with both hands.
She swallowed hard and pressed her legs together as if to hide something.
From just a simple action, she had actually developed a certain unspeakable fantasy. Without even reaching out to check, she could already feel the dampness beneath her clothes.
Seeing her reaction, Chen Yi narrowed her eyes slightly.
The next second, she leaned in, placing her hands on Shen Xiaojiang’s shoulders. She moved close to her ear, using her warm breath to grind against the sensitive nerves of the earlobe.
In a lowered voice, tinged with the colors of spring, Chen Yi whispered, “I bought some new pajamas. Should I wear them for you?”
