- Chapter 14 - He is a Gentleman Rogue
He Yunqi was no ordinary local thug; he was a cultured, calculating gentleman rogue.
The tips of Gu He’s ears flushed a deep red. As He Yunqi’s breath fanned across his earlobe, the tickling sensation made him instinctively want to shrink away.
After last night, Gu He had already lowered his bottom line to the absolute minimum. He straightened his body, face burning, and leaned in to give him a fleeting, butterfly kiss. However, He Yunqi was not about to let him off that easily. He pried Gu He’s teeth open and drew him into a deep, lingering kiss filled with affection.
At the height of this tender moment, Xie Jun rushed in excitedly, shouting “Seventh Lord!” Unable to brake in time, he barged right into the erotic scene. Quick-witted and fast-acting, Xie Jun flung his arms out wide like a giant “X” to block the subordinates behind him. The men behind him all came to a screeching, frantic halt.
“What, what is wrong?”
“Company, attention! About face, forward march!” Xie Jun had no time to explain. If they stayed a second longer, their eyeballs would likely be fed to the sharks in the Pacific Ocean.
“Brother Xie, what is going on? Is Seventh Lord not in a rush to catch his flight?”
“Shut your big mouth!” Xie Jun grabbed one subordinate who was still trying to poke his head in and beat a hasty retreat. He thought the man was an idiot.
Clearly displeased by the sudden interruption, a flicker of faint anger colored He Yunqi’s eyes.
Gu He, being thin-skinned, felt his ears turn hot and red instantly. He turned his head to the other side, using He Yunqi’s large frame to hide himself, unable to see exactly how many people had just witnessed them.
He Yunqi’s fingers gently rubbed the soft flesh at the back of Gu He’s neck, as if soothing a ruffled little fox.
Gu He could only let that hand knead and squeeze here and there. After a long while, he did not even realize when He Yunqi had moved; by the time he snapped back to reality, the man had already rolled up his sleeves and was seated at the dining table.
“Do not hide anymore, baby. Come and eat. There is chopped chili fish head, your favorite. After dinner, I will send you back to school.”
Sister-in-law Qiu, with a smile on her face, helped serve the rice. The table was filled mostly with Gu He’s favorite dishes. This was the result of her observations while cooking for him over the past few days; she noticed he liked spicy food and small desserts, so she prepared several delicious spicy dishes to cater to his palate.
Gu He’s expression quickly returned to normal. However, he seemed a bit impatient at the prospect of finally being able to go out and return to school today.
Glancing at the people around him, he replied in a low voice, “Thank you.”
After spending a few days with him, Sister-in-law Qiu had a general understanding of the youth. He was gentle and polite, yet his detachment and coldness were visible to the naked eye.
At the dinner table, the small bowl in front of him was soon piled high like a mountain. Gu He felt extremely awkward; he wanted to struggle and eat for himself, but things did not go his way.
This old rogue kept picking up green vegetables that Gu He disliked, such as celery and carrots, and piling them into his bowl. Gu He only ate a few bites selectively, pushing the ones he disliked to the side.
Actually, he was not a particularly picky eater; he just felt that carrots had a strange smell that he found hard to get used to. Obviously, He Yunqi noticed this as well.
Now that Gu He belonged to him, his small frame looked malnourished at a glance. He Yunqi would naturally raise his person with great care so he could enjoy himself to the fullest later.
Therefore, he decided to feed him full first, then “eat.”
He Yunqi looked at the hint of resistance in Gu He’s eyes and, with a mischievous smile, deliberately went against him, bringing a carrot directly to his lips. “Baby, open up.”
Could Gu He refuse? Obviously not. After all, he had signed a treaty that surrendered his rights and humiliated his person; he had no voice and could only remain silent.
This meal tasted like wax.
Outside, a group of men stood in the garden in military formation, their eyes straining to peek inside as they noisily pestered Xie Jun for gossip.
“So, Seventh Lord was hiding a beauty in a golden house! Brother Xie, why did you not share the gossip? When did you learn to keep your mouth shut and hide things for yourself?”
“I have to say, it is the first time I have seen Seventh Lord feed someone by hand. That is a rare sight. Guess how long this one will last?”
“Could Lord be serious? Does the kid even look like an adult? Such thin arms and legs, tsk.”
“Hehehe, you do not understand, do you? The nurturing type is trendy these days.”
“Do not let his scholarly look fool you; when he fights, his spirit is hard to suppress. He is the one who broke Zhao Pengtai’s nose,” Xie Jun said, yawning repeatedly.
“I hope Lord does not actually lose his heart. Usually, when these types get spoiled, they start acting up.”
Xie Jun thought to himself that this one probably would not act up; at most, he would dance on Seventh Lord’s grave.
“He is likely a high difficulty one.”
This kid had some skills; he would not be easy to deal with.
A silent, burly man nearby glanced over and composed his expression. “Knowing he is difficult, yet insisting on keeping him around, is that not just looking for trouble?”
Xie Jun merely smiled and said nothing.
He Yunqi did not like others meddling in his affairs. Having followed him for many years, Xie Jun understood his sense of proportion. This sudden return to the country had actually surprised Xie Jun, but then again, it was He Yunqi’s usual style, forever unpredictable.
When Gu He came out, the crowd outside collectively shut their mouths. A dozen or so burly men in black suits, averaging about 1.8 meters in height, bowed to him and shouted in unison, “Good day, Young Master Gu!”
This sudden display left him stunned for a moment. What was the word for it? Chunibyo?
He Yunqi wrapped an arm around Gu He’s shoulder and shot a warning look at Xie Jun, who was at the very end.
Xie Jun was silent as a winter cicada. He thought to himself that he was innocent because he did not join the heckling; he just bowed along with them.
“Hello,” Gu He’s voice flowed like a cold mountain spring from a glacier, matching his face. His features were beautiful, but his expression was indifferent, giving off a sense of coldness and distance.
Watching their departing figures, Xie Jun said thoughtfully, “I have a feeling this one is going to be my Second Ancestor, or maybe even the Grand Ancestor.”
“Then the one we have been investigating,” one man began.
“Shut up. Do you want to die?”
Sitting in the car, Gu He sat next to He Yunqi. Since the space was limited, he sat properly with his hands on his knees, back straight and solemn, as if he were in a meeting. Through the window, the scenery along the road gradually became familiar.
But some people were not quite as well-behaved as he was. A hand touched here and stroked there, until finally, He Yunqi simply pulled him into his lap. Clearly, the “little fox” was still not used to this. Although Gu He disliked it, he had no way to refuse, so he could only sit stiffly and allow himself to be manipulated, not daring to move.
“Are you used to living in the dormitory? If not, should I buy you an apartment?”
“I am used to it. No need,” Gu He replied. He thought that buying an apartment would only be convenient for He Yunqi, so it was better to refuse.
This was, after all, He Yunqi’s first time keeping a college student, so he was a bit inexperienced.
He was not sure what to send or give. What do kids these days lack?
Xu Jichuan should be around the same age as the little cub, so he sent him a text to ask.
Xu Jichuan’s answer was short and clear: “Money.”
He Yunqi grew thoughtful and sent a message to Xie Jun.
A few days later, Gu He received the most nonsensical package of his life. A large sum of cash was handed over to him by Xie Jun. The word “Awkward” was practically written in giant letters across Xie Jun’s forehead. He wondered if his boss was living in the 1970s.
Gu He: “…”
