- After Faking My Death, My Disciple, Who Hated Me to the Bone, Has Gone Mad
- Chapter 7 - Does He Have to Be a Four-Legged Beast for One Hundred Years?
Sheng Muxue had thought he would only sleep for a few days, the price for using spiritual energy that did not belong to the current world. When he finally woke up, he discovered that he had been asleep for an entire year.
During this year, he had not stopped growing. When he woke up, his body was already close to that of an adult fox. Since a one-year-old fox is roughly equivalent to a fifteen or sixteen-year-old human, he was nearing adulthood. However, he was still unable to transform into his human form. Furthermore, he was no longer in the original tree hole; this time, it seemed to be an underground burrow.
“Little Xue is awake!”
The first to notice Sheng Muxue waking up was his mother. She excitedly dragged the whole family over to surround him. “You scared me to death! I thought you would never wake up again.”
When his father saw Sheng Muxue awake, although his expression was worried, he complained, “I do not know who he takes after. The whole family are red foxes, but you grew up with a coat of black fur. It causes us to have to move constantly just to avoid being driven away by the rest of the clan.”
Hearing this, his mother felt as though he were targeting her. She immediately grabbed the father’s fox ear and snapped, “You old fox, you know whose seed this is! Are you doubting my chastity?”
The father quickly waved his hands in submission. “I dare not, I dare not.”
Brother Fox Red seemed accustomed to these scenes of domestic strife and made no move to mediate. He squatted in front of Sheng Muxue, his eyes curving into crescents, and stroked his body. “Little Xue, you are finally awake. Do you know how worried we were about you during the time you were asleep?”
The mother stopped bickering with the father, squatted down like Brother Fox Red, and held Sheng Muxue in her arms with maternal tenderness. “Do not listen to your father’s nonsense. No matter what you look like, even if you were not a black fox, even if you were just a crow, we would always love you.”
The father, whose face was swollen on one side, nodded in agreement. “Yes, yes, your mother is right.” He quickly realized something was wrong. “A crow? How could you compare him to that damn bird?”
Slap!
Soon, the other side of the father’s face was also swollen.
Brother Fox Red:
Sheng Muxue:
Having not experienced family or affection for two hundred years, Sheng Muxue felt a sudden surge of emotion. When he first arrived in this world, he had missed his parents dearly, but as the days passed, he had accepted that in this strange world, he was truly alone. No one understood him, and no one would offer him such affection.
Yet, he had unexpectedly found the family bond he had long given up on in a fox in this life. His brother protected him and would give him all the meat to eat. His father, despite his verbal doubts about his paternity, could not hide the worry in his eyes. And his mother went without saying.
At this moment, his mother was holding him tightly to her chest, two hot tears rolling down her chin and dripping onto his body. She kept murmuring, “Thank goodness. Thank goodness. Little Xue. If anything had truly happened to you, Mother would not want to live anymore.”
Warmth flooded Sheng Muxue’s heart. He rubbed against his mother’s chest and suddenly spoke, “I am sorry, Mother, for making you worry.”
The mother was stunned for a moment, then immediately overjoyed. “Little Xue can speak?”
The father was even more shocked. “How can this be? All demons cannot speak before transforming into human form. Could he be a genius?”
Brother Fox Red agreed. “Of course! I knew my brother was an incredibly clever fox. Perhaps it will not take long for him to cultivate into human form.”
Although Sheng Muxue knew he was a fox demon with the ability to transform, he did not know specifically how to cultivate or when he would succeed. He could not ask the system directly, so he could only give the system a questioning look.
The system, understanding the nuance, explained, “Big Brother, when a demon can transform into human form depends on their talent. The better the talent, the faster it goes; conversely, it is definitely slower. A small portion of demons never achieve human form in their lifetime and remain unawakened beasts. It is a pity that this body’s talent is not outstanding. Only two out of ten spiritual meridians are open. By my estimate, it will be quite a struggle to transform; if you put in the effort, one hundred years should be enough.”
One hundred years?
Sheng Muxue was incredulous. Did he have to be a four-legged beast for one hundred years?
Feeling Sheng Muxue’s murderous gaze, the system began rummaging frantically through its body, and like Doraemon, it produced a pill glowing with a faint blue light. “Do not worry! I have this, which can help you transform early. However, the side effect is that you must drink ‘The Blood of Supreme Spirit’ on the night of every full moon, or you will immediately turn back into a fox. But the pill that allowed you to speak human language is permanent. You can rest assured about that.”
Sheng Muxue wanted to ask the system more about transformation, so he lied, saying he was still sleepy, and sent his family away. After they left, he whispered to the system, “What is ‘The Blood of Supreme Spirit,’ and where can I get it?”
“Um, any powerhouse above the Transformation Spirit Stage will do.”
“Are there any Transformation Spirit powerhouses nearby?” In his memory, five hundred years ago, there were hardly any in the entire cultivation world. Surely there still were not many now? Or perhaps the few that existed had all died out?
The system replied, “One moment, Big Brother, let me sense it for you.”
A moment later, a look of shock appeared on the system’s bald, cartoon face.
Sheng Muxue’s heart sank. “Are there really none?”
The system shook its head. “No, it is that I sense at least one hundred Transformation Spirit powerhouses surrounding the entire Qingqiu. Moreover, they seem to be slaughtering your clansmen everywhere and have set fire to the entire mountain.”
Hearing this, Sheng Muxue did not have much of a reaction. The clansmen did not like him or his family anyway, so why care? But then he thought, setting fire to the mountain would likely affect his home.
Sheng Muxue ultimately decided to handle the matter to prevent it from harming his family and causing his home to be destroyed. He swallowed the pill the system gave him and, while his family was distracted, slipped out of the burrow.
The moment he exited the burrow, his four-legged body suddenly stood up. His black fur faded, and he transformed into a black-haired youth of fifteen or sixteen. The boy had long, slightly curly hair reaching his waist, and he was completely naked.
Sheng Muxue had not expected that transforming into a human would not even include a loincloth. He hurriedly hid in a nearby bush and questioned the system, “Where are my clothes?”
The system began rummaging through its small body again and finally pulled out a pink dress.
The moment he saw it was women’s clothing, Sheng Muxue could not endure it and gave the system a headbutt. “Are you messing with me?”
The system covered the large bump on its head and cried, “No, Big Brother, I really only have women’s clothing here. Can you just make do for now?”
Sheng Muxue gritted his teeth, snatched the garment, and put it on.
It was surprisingly well-fitted.
Forget it, having something is better than nothing!
