- Chapter 3 - Does She Really Lack This Small Amount of Money?
“Master! Senior Martial Sister! Save me!!!”
Qin Qingyi’s voice approached from afar, a desperate, heart-wrenching wail.
Along with it came a “boom—” as the large door to the Sword-Wielding Peak’s reception hall, which already had a hole poked in it by a sword, was hit again and now had an even bigger one. It looked shaky, clearly on the brink of retirement.
“Master, you must do me justice.”
Qin Qingyi fled like a bullet to the feet of True Master Wenqing, tightly hugging her leg and beginning to cry and howl: “Master, save me! Your disciple here was almost killed.”
True Master Wenqing covered her face, and Shangguan Yu closed her eyes upon hearing this.
It was truly a sin; how did the Sword Sect ever recruit such a disciple?
Qin Qingyi wailed non-stop for a long time. True Master Wenqing, pressured by the glaring look from Shangguan Yu, could only pull the person off her leg and set her down: “You get up first and explain clearly what happened.”
However, as soon as she let go, Qin Qingyi clung to her again like a boneless creature: “Master, Master, save your disciple.”
“What on earth happened?!” A vein throbbed on True Master Wenqing’s forehead.
Just as Qin Qingyi was about to speak, the already tattered door was struck once more. This time it wasn’t a bigger hole; perhaps the force applied was too great, and the door, which was already overwhelmed, collapsed with a crash, kicking up a cloud of dust.
It was truly retired this time.
Shangguan Yu’s mouth twitched a few times, feeling a pang of heartache over the Sword-Wielding Peak having to pay another large repair bill for the door.
Just as she was calculating how to extort a sum from True Master Wenqing, who was focused on comforting her disciple beside her, the dust at the doorway dissipated, gradually revealing a small, thin figure.
Shangguan Yu was still frowning, but True Master Wenqing had already recognized who it was. She exclaimed, “Zhi Xue!”
True Master Wenqing rushed forward, seeing that Zhou Zhixue had already broken through the five-sense seal she had set on her. Her eyes were now bloodshot, her mind unstable, clearly showing signs of going into qi deviation.
True Master Wenqing frowned and quickly cast a spell to confine her in place. But even with the restriction, Zhou Zhixue was still like an enraged little lion, fiercely baring her teeth towards Qin Qingyi.
“Zhi Xue, are you alright?”
True Master Wenqing placed her hands on Zhou Zhixue’s shoulders, forcing her to calm down before asking in a gentle voice.
Although she didn’t know why the seal she had set was broken, if the child’s mind was stable, there would be no need to continue sealing her senses.
However, she asked three times, but the person in front of her gave no verbal reply.
Clearly, she had not yet emerged from the emotional vortex.
“Master, discipline her! She almost beat your disciple to death.” Qin Qingyi, hiding behind Shangguan Yu, fueled the fire, unaware that Zhou Zhixue at the door immediately locked her gaze back onto her upon hearing her words.
True Master Wenqing pursed her lips slightly upon hearing this. As Zhou Zhixue had not yet recovered her wits, there was indeed no better solution.
So she raised her hand intending to knock Zhou Zhixue unconscious, but unfortunately, she was a step too slow. The instant she raised her hand, Zhou Zhixue violently broke free from the confinement, swiftly approaching Qin Qingyi, who was watching from a distance, and raised her hand to fight her.
Qin Qingyi narrowly dodged, screeching for help towards True Master Wenqing: “Master, save me!”
With that, she scurried toward True Master Wenqing, with Zhou Zhixue in hot pursuit, her red eyes seeing nothing but Qin Qingyi.
The two children rushed toward True Master Wenqing one after the other, one seeking rescue and the other wanting to fight.
True Master Wenqing was knocked backward by Qin Qingyi’s pounce. Helplessly, she had to extend one hand to hold Qin Qingyi, who was clinging to her, to prevent her from falling, while her other hand swiftly chopped the back of Zhou Zhixue’s neck.
The force was just right this time. Zhou Zhixue’s body went limp, and True Master Wenqing promptly caught her, preventing her from hitting the floor.
Qin Qingyi, having climbed down from True Master Wenqing, huddled nearby and grumbled, subtly badmouthing the girl to her Master: “It’s this child you brought back, Master; she almost sliced me in half just now.”
Seeing Shangguan Yu’s inquiring gaze, True Master Wenqing irritably pushed Qin Qingyi behind her and briefly explained the situation.
“I only brought this child to Hidden Snow Peak today. I entrusted her to Qingyi’s care when I came to find Senior Martial Sister just now. I don’t know why it has turned into this…”
True Master Wenqing had a headache. She had only been gone for a moment, so how could things have escalated to this point?
However, Qin Qingyi seized the chance to peer out from behind True Master Wenqing: “Master, you simply don’t know! The moment you left, this child went mad, insisting on taking my sword and chasing me with rage, intent on hacking me into a thousand pieces.”
As she spoke, Qin Qingyi’s excellent eyesight caught sight of the sword on the ground. She tenderly picked up the dust-covered ‘Blank Space’ sword, carefully wiping it clean before contentedly strapping it back to her side.
She glanced at Zhou Zhixue, who was unconscious in True Master Wenqing’s arms, and couldn’t help but add: “But, her talent in the way of the sword is genuinely good, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to take my sword.”
Shangguan Yu and True Master Wenqing were both startled.
This child, took Qingyi’s sword?
Shangguan Yu raised an eyebrow, becoming interested. She no longer fussed over the mess in the room and turned to Qin Qingyi: “Tell me in detail, what happened while your Master was away?”
Qin Qingyi unceremoniously found a chair to sit on, slouching and taking a peach from her Qiankun bracelet to eat: “Senior Martial Sister, you don’t know, I just wanted to tease her, but after only a couple of sentences, she went crazy, grabbed my sword, and chased me all the way from Hidden Snow Peak to here.”
“What did you say to provoke her into chasing you like that, determined to fight you?”
Shangguan Yu found it somewhat amusing. A child whose five senses were sealed was provoked by a few words into breaking the seal, and even managed to seize a Core Formation Stage cultivator’s sword while unconscious. This sounded completely ridiculous.
She had just examined the child’s meridians; merely in the Foundation Establishment Middle Stage, could she already fight a Core Formation Stage cultivator across ranks?
“I just asked her some things, like her name, where she came from, how she met Master…” Qin Qingyi’s voice trailed off as she spoke.
Hearing this, True Master Wenqing immediately understood. Without a doubt, it must have been her careless eldest disciple speaking without restraint, touching a raw nerve and causing the girl to disregard self-harm just to break the seal and attack her.
“You, you really need to control your mouth.” True Master Wenqing chided.
As she spoke, her hands continued to work. Only after confirming that Zhou Zhixue had no major internal injuries did she slightly relax.
“I didn’t ask anything too much, it’s her own emotions that were too agitated…”
Qin Qingyi’s attempt at a defense slowly faded under True Master Wenqing’s disapproving gaze.
“Fine, fine. Your disciple was wrong, your disciple admits her fault.”
Qin Qingyi conceded.
Shangguan Yu, who had been observing from the side, chuckled, excusing Qin Qingyi: “Junior Martial Sister, don’t be too harsh. After all, the Martial Nephew didn’t cause any huge disaster.”
Qin Qingyi looked at her gratefully, but then Shangguan Yu’s next words took a sharp turn: “However, the damaged items in this room, I think we still need to calculate the compensation.”
Shangguan Yu smiled serenely, truly a stingy iron rooster unwilling to part with a single hair.
True Master Wenqing silently turned her head away. She couldn’t hear, she couldn’t hear. She didn’t damage these things, so there was absolutely no way she was paying.
Shangguan Yu naturally knew her Junior Martial Sister’s character, so she didn’t intend to ask the money from this idle person who never took care of things and only picked up children for Hidden Snow Peak.
It was well known in the Sword Sect that the eldest disciple, Qin Qingyi, handled all the affairs of Hidden Snow Peak.
So… she fixed her gaze on Qin Qingyi, her smile gentle: “Martial Nephew? Have you calculated the compensation?”
“Ahem, Senior Martial Sister, I just remembered I have something to attend to at Hidden Snow Peak, I’ll be leaving first…”
Qin Qingyi chuckled, trying to slip away, but before she could reach the door, she was blocked by a transparent barrier.
“Ouch—”
Qin Qingyi crashed into it, recoiling in pain. She rubbed her head and complained: “Senior Martial Sister, you’re being too heartless! They’re just some tables and chairs, does Sword-Wielding Peak really lack this small amount of money?”
Shangguan Yu’s expression was calm: “Yes, it does.”
Qin Qingyi stared at her: “Sword-Wielding Peak has so many disciples, and they complete sect missions every day. Your sect has always been first on the mission points ranking. Does she really lack this small amount of money?”
Shangguan Yu’s smile didn’t change: “Yes, it does.”
Qin Qingyi glared at her intensely.
Shangguan Yu raised an eyebrow and stared back.
In the end, Qin Qingyi surrendered.
“Fine, fine,” she mumbled, painfully taking Spirit Stones out of her Qiankun bracelet.
Only when a large bag full of Spirit Stones was placed in Shangguan Yu’s hand was the irritating barrier removed.
“Master, let’s go.”
Qin Qingyi called out to True Master Wenqing. The recent massive expenditure made her wince so much she could barely keep her eyes open.
“Oh, oh.” True Master Wenqing responded, cradling the still-unconscious Zhou Zhixue like a meek wife, and followed closely behind her eldest disciple.
“Senior Martial Sister, I’m afraid I don’t have time to catch up with you today. I’ll come visit another day.”
Before walking out the door, she said to Shangguan Yu behind her.
Shangguan Yu nodded with a smile, watching their figures leave until they disappeared behind the Sword-Wielding Peak’s boundary. Only then did she slowly turn, weigh the Spirit Stones in her hand, and her smile became a bit more genuine: “Another income today. Not bad.”
As her words fell, she held out her hand and cast a spell. In an instant, the chaotic mess in the Sword-Wielding Peak reception hall seemed to undergo a time reversal. The damaged tables and chairs were set back in place one by one, gradually returning to their original state.
Even the large door that had been shattered into several pieces was restored to its original position by the spell, the hole on the door disappeared, and it became a brand new door again.
She waved her hand to close the door, blocking out the sunlight outside.
“The little fox is still so easy to trick.”
Shangguan Yu chuckled.
