- Chapter 6 - Say You Like Me
“Exchange successful. Deducting five million points. Remaining balance, three million points. Keep it up, Host!”
Accompanied by the system’s cheeky voice, Su Jin felt another pang of physical pain at the loss.
The system’s voice prodded her again: “Please begin your mission. Time limit: 24 hours.”
“What?” Su Jin was dazed. “It’s starting already? How am I supposed to do this?”
The system replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world: “This system can only provide you with the opportunity to try again. As for how to complete the mission, you’ll have to figure that out yourself, Host. If the mission fails again, you will still face punishment.”
Su Jin felt profoundly cheated. It turned out the “redo” opportunity she spent five million points on provided zero actual help. Her sanity snapped instantly.
“You damn system! This is a scam! I ….”
“Host, please use civilized language, or I will be forced to take disciplinary measures against you.”
Driven mad with rage, Su Jin couldn’t help but get snarky: “Your talent for being shameless is truly peak level.”
“You’re like a sow wearing a bra one set after another, just layers of nonsense.”
“System, you better wear a lightning rod when you go out, or you’re going to get struck by heaven’s wrath.”
“You… you… you…”
The system, rendered speechless by her barrage of insults, abruptly cut off the connection.
Su Jin’s fire died down instantly. She couldn’t reach the system, but based on her knowledge of its shamelessness, the mission was definitely still on, and the deadline likely wouldn’t budge an inch.
Left with no choice, she racked her brain. Eventually, she could only come up with a “shameless” idea she felt she was definitely being influenced by that stupid system.
She walked up to Director Lin and mustered her courage. “Director Lin, I think we can add some detail to this massage scene. Zhou Yu has a crush on Lin Xia and takes the opportunity to seduce her. While massaging, she could secretly touch her abs, creating a subtle, lingering sense of ambiguity. This would better reflect the character’s psychological state.”
Director Lin frowned. “This… wouldn’t it be too deliberate?”
The supporting actress standing nearby, Lin Xiaoxiao, let out a cold sneer, her tone sharp: “Su Jin, you’re just trying to turn acting into reality so you can take advantage of Film Queen Ye, aren’t you?”
Su Jin felt a pang of guilt, but she forced herself to stay composed. “I’m just considering the role. The emotional tension in this scene is very important. This is how we show Zhou Yu’s secret love and her attempt to seduce Lin Xia.”
Lin Xiaoxiao scoffed, her mockery deepening: “Considering the role? I think you’re considering yourself! Everyone knows about your livestream confession last night. Now you’re trying to use filming as an excuse to grope her and clout chase. Truly shameless.”
Having her true intentions poked at, Su Jin was incredibly embarrassed. She countered with very little confidence: “Director Lin, I still think this kind of ‘is it or isn’t it’ ambiguity perfectly expresses Zhou Yu’s internal struggle and desire.” Mid-sentence, she couldn’t help but look at Ye Qinglan. “Film Queen Ye, don’t you agree?”
The moment she asked, Su Jin cursed her own brain dead move. Why would Ye Qinglan ever agree to be touched?
Director Lin remained silent for a moment, clearly hesitating.
Just then, Ye Qinglan suddenly stood up and said, “I think we can give it a try.”
Su Jin was stunned. She hadn’t expected Ye Qinglan to actually agree.
A wave of excitement hit her, and she nodded quickly. “Thank you, Film Queen Ye!”
Lin Xiaoxiao’s face turned ugly instantly. Her voice was venomous: “Film Queen Ye, don’t let her fool you! She clearly just wants to take advantage of you. Don’t fall for her trap!”
Ye Qinglan gave her a cold, indifferent glance. Her voice was calm: “I believe Su Jin is doing it for the sake of the character.”
Hearing this, Lin Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth in rage.
Su Jin, however, couldn’t help but feel guilty. Ye Qinglan trusted her so purely, yet she was doing everything she could to take advantage of her. She really was a piece of work. It was all the system’s fault; otherwise, she would never have boarded this sinking ship. Now, she was riding a tiger and couldn’t get off.
Before she could react further, Director Lin nodded. “Since Film Queen Ye has agreed, let’s try it.”
Su Jin, however, no longer felt happy at all.
The reshoot began.
Su Jin’s fingers landed on the small of Ye Qinglan’s back, slowly moving upward. She whispered, “Does it hurt here?”
The system’s “undead” voice rang out in her mind: “Host, stay steady! The timer starts now!”
Su Jin was startled but had no energy left to curse it.
Her fingertips trembled slightly as they brushed against Ye Qinglan’s abdomen. Her fingers traced the lines of the muscles with slow, ambiguous movements.
Ye Qinglan’s body stiffened slightly, but she didn’t push her away.
Su Jin felt the firmness and warmth of her abs under her fingertips, and her heart began to race. The distinct texture beneath her touch seemed to sear her sensitive nerves. Su Jin felt her face heating up involuntarily. She looked down at Ye Qinglan’s waist slender yet powerful. She felt a mix of envy and nervousness it must have taken a long time to train a body like that…
Her thoughts drifted. She wasn’t sure how much time had passed. Was it enough?
For Su Jin, every second felt like a year. She didn’t dare focus on the sensation anymore, she felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
Right then, Ye Qinglan suddenly grabbed her hand. Her voice was husky and restrained: “That’s enough.”
Su Jin quickly retracted her hand, laughing awkwardly. “Oh, then… let me help you up.”
“Cut!” Director Lin shouted, nodding with satisfaction. “Excellent. The emotion was much more on point than the original version. Keep it up!”
Su Jin felt a massive sense of relief, but the system’s voice rang in her head: “Host, mission failed!”
“How is that possible? I touched her for so long!” Su Jin couldn’t believe it.
The system said: “The timer only reached 2 minutes and 53 seconds.”
Aaaah! Just a few seconds short! Su Jin felt a mental breakdown coming on.
Before she could recover from the blow, she saw Ye Qinglan approach her. The older woman let out a soft chuckle. “The filming is over. Let’s go settle our private business. Follow me.”
Su Jin’s skin crawled. She knew Ye Qinglan was definitely going to settle the score now. She stood rooted to the spot, hesitant to move.
Seeing that she wasn’t following, Ye Qinglan turned back. “Su Jin?”
What must be, must be. Su Jin steeled herself and followed.
The two entered a room one after the other. As soon as Su Jin took a step inside, the door behind her shut with a heavy thud.
Before she could react, she was pinned against the door by a powerful force. Her back hit the cold door panel, and her wrists were firmly pinned by Ye Qinglan, leaving her unable to move.
“Film… Film Queen Ye…”
She looked up into Ye Qinglan’s cold eyes, her heart full of guilt.
Ye Qinglan leaned in close, her voice low and dangerous: “Su Jin, that livestream confession last night… was that your way of proving you like me?”
Su Jin felt a strange sense of relief. So, it wasn’t about the “touching” during the scene.
She immediately nodded like a chicken pecking grain: “Yes, yes… Film Queen Ye, that confession was from the bottom of my heart…”
Ye Qinglan’s fingers gently pinched her chin, forcing her to look up. “From the bottom of your heart? Su Jin, do you think I don’t know what you’re up to? Clout chasing? Don’t forget, I still have those photos of you. I’m warning you, don’t play any more little games.”
Su Jin’s heart sank. The system chimed in: “Host, beg for mercy quickly! You can’t be exposed and kicked off the set; you still have so much plot to get through!”
With no other choice, Su Jin bit her own lip hard. Tears welled up instantly. “Film Queen Ye, I was wrong… I really know I was wrong… please don’t release the photos. I… I’ll do anything.”
“Anything?”
The corners of Ye Qinglan’s lips curled slightly, her eyes flickering with a hint of playfulness. “Fine. I’ll give you a chance. Recreate the photos from last night.”
Su Jin froze, her face turning bright red. “W-what?”
“Unwilling?” Ye Qinglan’s gaze turned dangerous. “Then perhaps I should just send the photos out and let everyone see how you tried to seduce me.”
“Don’t!” Su Jin shook her head frantically, her mind in a tailspin.
If she didn’t agree, Ye Qinglan really would expose her. She’d be flamed by the entire internet and kicked off the set, leading to total mission failure.
“I… I agree…” Her voice was so low it was almost inaudible.
Ye Qinglan gave a soft hum. “Then begin.”
Su Jin lowered her head, her fingers trembling as she undid the buttons of her shirt. One by one, her movements were slow and agonizing.
Ye Qinglan’s eyes darkened. Her voice was raspy: “Continue.”
Hearing this, Su Jin’s cheeks burned with shame, she wanted nothing more than to dig a hole and crawl into it.
“Say you like me,” Ye Qinglan’s voice rang out coldly, carrying an air of command.
Su Jin bit her lip, her voice low and shaky: “Film Queen Ye… I like you.”
Ye Qinglan’s gaze grew even deeper, her voice carrying a hint of suppressed emotion. “Call me… Qinglan. Say it again. Say you like me.”
“Ye… Qinglan… I like you… I really like you…”
Su Jin felt her cheeks burning and her ears turning red. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it would burst out of her chest.
She gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, her mind in a panic: What kind of perverted plot is this?! I was just following the system’s instructions to complete a mission, how did it turn into this?
In the midst of her internal chaos, the system suddenly let out a piercing screech in her head, making her temples throb.
“As expected of a ‘Restricted’ novel world. The plot development is truly stimulating!”
Dead system! You still have the heart to enjoy the show? Su Jin was about to start cursing when the light in front of her suddenly dimmed.
She looked up, meeting Ye Qinglan’s eyes deep like dark pools, carrying a suffocating pressure.
Su Jin instinctively took a step back, her back pressing against the cold wall. There was nowhere left to retreat.
Ye Qinglan leaned in slowly, her voice a low threat: “Behave yourself. Don’t cause any more trouble for me.”
Su Jin didn’t dare say no; she nodded frantically.
“Go.”
Su Jin felt as if she’d been granted a royal pardon and bolted out the door.
Once she’d run far enough to calm down, she realized something wasn’t right. Wasn’t the script supposed to be the other way around?
Shouldn’t I be the scummy Alpha threatening Ye Qinglan?
