- Chapter 4 - The Confession
Su Jin returned to her hotel room like a wandering soul, her heart filled with trepidation.
She sat on the edge of the bed, Ye Qinglan’s words echoing in her mind: “Come to my room tonight we need to have a good talk.” The sentence had sounded calm, yet it carried an undeniable weight, as if the woman had already seen through everything.
Su Jin hesitated. “System, Ye Qinglan… she asked me to go to her room tonight. I feel like something is wrong.”
“Host, what are you afraid of? It’s not like she’s going to eat you. Just deny everything to the death…”
“Shut up! It’s all your fault for making me take those photos!”
Before Su Jin could fully process the implications of Ye Qinglan’s invitation, she was struck by the dreaded sound of a mission notification.
Ding…
New Mission: Confess to Ye Qinglan within three days.
Reward: 2 million.
Failure: Random punishment!
“What?!” Su Jin nearly jumped out of her skin. “I just got caught red handed, and now you want me to confess? That’s a death wish!”
“Host, this is a golden opportunity!” The system urged her on like a motivational coach. “Ye Qinglan invited you to her room tonight. Why not strike while the iron is hot and confess then?”
“What kind of ‘invitation’ is that? That’s clearly a trap!”
Su Jin felt her vision go dark, she felt as though fate were conspiring against her.
The Confrontation
Time ticked away, and soon it was 9:00 PM.
Su Jin’s anxiety peaked. Ye Qinglan’s room was right next door, only a few steps away.
“Host, don’t hesitate! Go now!” the system urged. “If you don’t go, she’ll think you have a guilty conscience.”
Gritting her teeth as if heading to an execution ground, Su Jin stood up and walked to Ye Qinglan’s door. She hesitated for a moment before knocking.
“Come in,” Ye Qinglan’s voice drifted from inside cool and unreadable.
Su Jin pushed the door open. Ye Qinglan was sitting on the sofa, clad in a black silk robe, her long hair draped casually over her shoulders. She looked both languid and elegant.
“Sit.” Ye Qinglan pointed to the opposite sofa.
Su Jin sat down stiffly, hands on her knees, her heart thumping. Ye Qinglan glanced at her, a faint smile playing on her lips. “Miss Su, no need to be so nervous. I just wanted to chat.”
Su Jin forced a smile. “Movie Queen Ye, is there something you needed?”
Ye Qinglan didn’t answer directly. Her gaze lingered on Su Jin’s face with a hint of scrutiny. “Miss Su, how do you think… our relationship is?”
Su Jin’s heart tightened. She lowered her head. “I… I think it’s quite good. You’ve been very supportive.”
Ye Qinglan let out a soft chuckle. “Is that so? Then do you think… there are any misunderstandings between us?”
Su Jin’s pulse quickened; her palms began to sweat. “Misunderstandings? I’m not sure what you mean…”
Ye Qinglan leaned forward, staring directly into Su Jin’s eyes. “Miss Su, the photo you sent me last night… what exactly did it mean?”
Su Jin turned pale. She opened her mouth but found no words.
Ye Qinglan’s tone turned cold. “Miss Su, I don’t like being trifled with. If you have an agenda, you’d better speak up.”
Panic surged through Su Jin. She bit the bullet and stammered, “I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Seeing her stubbornness, Ye Qinglan suddenly stood up, stepped toward Su Jin, and clamped her slender fingers around Su Jin’s wrist. Startled, Su Jin was pulled forward, nearly falling off the sofa.
“Movie Queen Ye, what are you doing…” Su Jin’s voice trembled. The grip on her wrist was surprisingly strong.
Ye Qinglan didn’t answer. Instead, she reached out and yanked Su Jin’s collar. The buttons of the shirt snapped and popped off with a sharp sound.
“Ah!” Su Jin cried out, instinctively trying to cover her chest.
But Ye Qinglan was faster. The collar was pulled wide, exposing the distinct red mole on Su Jin’s skin to the air. Ye Qinglan’s gaze deepened. “This mole… it’s exactly the same as the one in the photo.”
Su Jin’s heart felt like it would burst. She tried to retreat, but Ye Qinglan held her wrist like a vice. In her panic, Su Jin’s thumbs instinctively pressed into her palms a nervous habit. Seeing this specific gesture, Ye Qinglan’s pupils dilated with a flash of uncontrollable surprise, though she quickly masked it.
Su Jin didn’t notice the change. She only heard the system screaming in her ear: “Host! Complete the confession mission now! Tell her you’re secretly in love with her! Quick!”
Driven by the system’s prompt, Su Jin blurted out: “I… I’ve had a crush on you for a long time!”
Ye Qinglan froze. A flicker of astonishment crossed her eyes.
Taking advantage of the moment, Su Jin plowed on: “That photo… I took it on an impulse. I… I just wanted to get your attention…”
The frost in Ye Qinglan’s eyes melted, replaced by intense intrigue. “A crush on me?”
“Yes… I know I’m not worthy of you, but I really… I really like you…”
Silence fell over the room. After a long pause, Ye Qinglan finally spoke: “Miss Su, your acting… is indeed quite good.”
Su Jin’s heart sank. The system whispered nervously: “Host, she doesn’t seem to believe you…”
Ye Qinglan’s lips curled into a smirk. “However, since you say you love me, then prove it.”
Su Jin looked up, alarm bells ringing. “How… how do I prove it?”
Ye Qinglan leaned in, her breath grazing Su Jin’s ear. “Prove it with your actions.”
As Su Jin scrambled to pull her clothes back together, feeling like a violated maiden, Ye Qinglan delivered a final threat: “I’ll give you three days. If you can’t prove it… this mole will be on the front page of tomorrow’s headlines.”
The Live Stream Chaos
Back in her own room, Su Jin collapsed on her bed. “What do I do now?” she moaned, clutching her head. “How am I supposed to prove I love her?”
“Maybe you should just seduce her? Try drugging her…” the system suggested.
“Shut up! You’re nothing but a walking smut-generator!”
“But this is a restricted rated world,” the system countered. “We’re supposed to be ‘driving’ here!”
Suddenly, her manager, Sister Li, called. “Su Jin! Have you seen the news? You and Ye Qinglan are trending! This is a great chance we need to hype this up!”
Sister Li didn’t even wait for a response. “Start a live stream. Say you were drunk last night, but keep it vague. Let the fans guess. Ambiguity is key!”
“Sister Li, I don’t think that’s a good idea…” Su Jin hesitated, knowing Ye Qinglan held a knife to her throat.
“Just do it! In this industry, if you don’t use others, they’ll use you!”
Su Jin sighed and opened the live stream. The comments section exploded immediately:
- “Su Jin! Is it true between you and Ye Qinglan?”
- “What was that photo? Are you together?”
- “Stop leeching off our Movie Queen! Have some shame!”
Just as she was about to use the manager’s script, fireworks exploded on her screen.
Ding!
Timed Mission: Confess to Ye Qinglan on the live stream.
Reward: 5 million + Double Popularity Buff!
“System!!!” Su Jin’s eyes widened. “Why another one?”
“I didn’t know it would trigger either!”
With 30 seconds left on the clock and the comments calling her a “clout-chaser,” Su Jin gripped the edge of the table and shouted: “Actually, I’ve liked Teacher Ye for a long time!”
The chat went silent for a split second before a tsunami of hate erupted.
- “WTF, she’s coming out?!”
- “New way to trend? Gross!”
- “An 18th-tier star thinks she’s worthy of the Movie Queen? Get out of showbiz!”
In the middle of the chaos, a verified account entered the room: [Ye Qinglan Official Studio].
The chat went nuclear.
- “The real deal is here!”
- “Get ready for the slap-down!”
Su Jin turned pale. But then, a notification flashed: [Ye Qinglan Official Studio] sent 100 Super Rockets.
The screen was buried in expensive gift effects. Su Jin stared, stunned. Ding! Mission Complete. Reward: 5 Million.
The Studio account stayed in the room, silent but looming. Shortly after, Su Jin received a private message:
[Ye Qinglan]: Su Jin, so this is how you ‘prove’ your love? Very well.
Somehow, Su Jin could sense the “teeth gritting” tone behind the text. She felt like a kitten being scruffed by a predator, a chill running down her spine.
