- Chapter 28 - Why Can't We Do It Here?
A sharp pain shot through Su Jin’s wrist, snapping her back to reality. She shook her head immediately, pressing her palm against Ye Qinglan’s cold cheek. “I won’t leave you. Never.”
But Ye Qinglan wasn’t satisfied with that answer.
She grabbed Su Jin’s wrist, her thumb pressing hard against the delicate skin as if trying to carve Su Jin’s body heat into her very blood and bone. “How long is ‘forever’?” she pressed, her voice trembling with agitation. “Is it until the system mission is complete? Or until I tear the system out of you?”
Su Jin’s eyes widened. she immediately reached out to cover Ye Qinglan’s mouth, checking her internal state. Only when she sensed no reaction from the system did she let out a sigh of relief.
“Aren’t you afraid the system will find out you’re saying these things?”
“Don’t worry, the system has been shielded,” Ye Qinglan’s voice came out muffled against her palm.
“But… but there’s the driver…”
Su Jin looked toward the front, only to realize the driver had disappeared at some unknown point.
The curtain of rain isolated them from the rest of the world, turning the van into a sealed island. In the quiet space, only the sound of their breathing remained.
Against Su Jin’s palm, Ye Qinglan’s lips moved slightly. The warm breath seeped through the gaps of her fingers, making Su Jin’s heart tremble in sync.
Su Jin uncomfortably pulled her hand away. The lingering warmth of Ye Qinglan’s lips felt like an electric current, causing her fingers to curl instinctively.
The heater in the car hummed, intensifying the cedar scent in Ye Qinglan’s hair. Mixed with the dampness of the rain, it created an aggressive atmosphere that forced Su Jin back against the leather seat.
“What… what are you doing?”
Ye Qinglan took the opportunity to close in. Her knee pressed between Su Jin’s legs, and her palm braced against the window by Su Jin’s ear, forming an inescapable enclosure.
She looked down at Su Jin’s reddened earlobes, the obsession in her pupils turning into a thick, flowing ink. “Su Jin, are you going to leave me again? Like those other two times?”
“What ‘two times’?” Su Jin’s head spun; she couldn’t keep up with her thoughts.
Ye Qinglan didn’t answer. Her finger traced Su Jin’s lip line before slipping inside to toy with the tip of her tongue. Her tone carried a morbid infatuation: “I’ve waited so long. I won’t let you leave me again!”
“Mmph.. Qinglan!” Su Jin’s voice was muffled. Startled, she tried to dodge, but Ye Qinglan gripped the back of her neck.
The other woman’s nose brushed against her collarbone, sniffing greedily near her scent gland like a wild beast marking territory, searing an invisible brand onto her skin with pheromones.
“Don’t…” Her voice shook, not from fear, but because her heart was in total disarray from this surging possessiveness.
“Don’t what?” Ye Qinglan looked up, the corners of her eyes flushed with an eerie red. “Like this? Or this?”
Her kisses spread from the corner of the mouth to the ear, her teeth lightly nipping the reddened soft flesh. Her pheromones, wrapped in hot breath, sprayed against Su Jin’s neck: “Sister, don’t leave me behind again.”
The bite stung, and Su Jin’s pheromones began to spread uncontrollably. She hurriedly pushed against Ye Qinglan to stop her next move. “Don’t… not here…”
The words were barely out before they were blocked by Ye Qinglan’s kiss.
It wasn’t a gentle touch; it was a bite flavored with punishment. Her tongue hungrily pried open Su Jin’s teeth, stealing away all her breath.
Forced to lie back against the seat, Su Jin could clearly feel Ye Qinglan’s weight pressing down and her restless fingers fumbling at her waist.
“Why can’t we do it here?” Ye Qinglan released her, her thumb rubbing over Su Jin’s swollen lips, her tone terrifyingly obsessive. “What are you afraid of? Afraid I’ll hurt you?”
Suddenly, she leaned down and left a teeth mark on Su Jin’s collarbone. “Sister, you are mine! You can only have me by your side!”
Ye Qinglan’s pheromones completely enveloped her. The gland at the back of Su Jin’s neck throbbed, desperately seeking comfort.
Gasping, Su Jin tilted her head back with a soft moan. “Ye Qinglan…”
A cold sensation suddenly hit her lower back. Ye Qinglan’s fingers had slid under the hem of her shirt, tracing circles directly on her skin along the sensitive line of her spine.
“Qinglan…” Su Jin’s voice held a tremor she didn’t even notice. She reached out to push the other’s shoulders, but her wrists were pinned above her head.
Ye Qinglan’s knee pressed firmly between her legs, forcing them apart. The overly intimate posture made Su Jin’s face burn. “We’re in the car…”
“What about the car?” Ye Qinglan chuckled. The mole at the corner of her eye seemed to dance under the warm light. Her fingers suddenly squeezed the soft flesh of Su Jin’s waist. “You’ll like it.”
Su Jin hissed in pain, but her heart tightened when she saw the darkness churning in Ye Qinglan’s eyes.
“I missed you…” Ye Qinglan’s voice suddenly dropped, carrying a trace of fragile hoarseness. “I wondered when you would show up again.”
Those words hit Su Jin’s heart like a heavy hammer.
She abruptly wrenched her wrists free and wrapped her arms around Ye Qinglan’s neck, pulling her into her embrace. Her nose brushed against the other’s damp hair, smelling the mix of rain and pheromones the scent unique to Ye Qinglan.
“Ye Qinglan, I won’t leave you.” Su Jin’s fingers combed through the tangled hair, her voice soft and gentle. “I don’t remember the past, but I’m here now. Look, I’m really here.”
Ye Qinglan didn’t speak. She simply buried her face in the crook of Su Jin’s neck like a wounded animal seeking warmth. Her pheromones were no longer aggressive but wrapped submissively around Su Jin’s gland, as if confirming her existence.
They stayed in that position for a long time, until Su Jin felt a dampness on her neck.
It was Ye Qinglan’s tears.
Just then, a system alarm exploded in her mind: [Ye Qinglan, that system is coming back! Let go of Su Jin, now!]
Ye Qinglan snapped her head up, the fragility in her eyes instantly replaced by malice. She reached out, grasping at the empty air, and let out a low growl: “I told you, stop interfering.”
What?
Su Jin followed her gaze but saw nothing. A sense of eeriness crept over her as she scanned the surroundings, afraid something might jump out.
The system wasn’t intimidated: [We need to accumulate energy so the Master can escape the mission. If you keep using energy, and we don’t have enough, how will she get free?]
[Do you want the Master to be thrown into the Void World, never to return?]
Ye Qinglan stared coldly into the void, remaining silent.
Su Jin watched her carefully but still saw nothing. Who exactly is Ye Qinglan talking to? And why does it look like they’re about to have a fight?
She nudged closer into Ye Qinglan’s arms, peering around cautiously.
“Qinglan, is there something there?” she whispered.
It’s not a ghost, is it? Even though she didn’t believe in them, since non-technological entities like systems existed, ghosts didn’t seem that far-fetched.
Ye Qinglan didn’t answer. She just stared at that spot, seemingly engaged in a silent standoff.
After a moment, she looked away. The dark red in her pupils faded, leaving only a heavy exhaustion. She released Su Jin’s hand and rolled down the window to let the scent of pheromones dissipate.
The sound of rain outside became clear again.
The driver’s silhouette appeared through the rain, running back from the convenience store under an umbrella, causing the intimate atmosphere in the car to vanish completely.
“Let’s go.” Ye Qinglan moved back to the passenger seat, her fingers once again tracing the smooth skin of her own wrist as if a scar still remained there.
Su Jin didn’t get an answer, but she wasn’t upset. She sat there watching Ye Qinglan’s feigned cold profile and sighed internally.
The villain had more secrets than she had imagined. Especially under that obsessive shell there was a heart terrified of being abandoned.
After a long silence, Su Jin suddenly reached out and gently took Ye Qinglan’s cold hand, tracing soothing circles in her palm. She couldn’t make any grand promises; she could only guarantee that for as long as she existed, she wouldn’t leave.
But that was all.
Outside, the rain had slowed to a drizzle. When the van pulled up to the villa, the downpour had turned into a fine mist.
Ye Qinglan pushed the door open. The smell of damp earth filled her lungs, completely clearing away the scent of pheromones. Su Jin followed behind, silently watching her back.
Since the driver’s return, neither had spoken a word.
“Go inside first. I’ll have the driver take the car for sanitization.”
Ye Qinglan didn’t look back, her voice still carrying a faint, un-faded hoarseness.
Su Jin nodded. Just as she stepped onto the stairs, the sound of hurried high heels echoed from inside the villa.
“Ye Qinglan!” Zhao Man rushed out, holding a dripping umbrella. Her exquisite makeup was slightly smudged by the rain. “You’re finally back! Do you have any idea how much chaos is breaking out there?”
She grabbed Ye Qinglan’s wrist without hesitation, looking her up and down. “Are you hurt? That lunatic Fang Qi…”
Ye Qinglan moved her hand away and adjusted her rain-dampened collar. “I’m fine.”
Zhao Man wasn’t convinced. She checked her over thoroughly and only relaxed once she was sure there were no injuries. She pulled out her phone and opened the entertainment headlines.
“Look at this! You’re on the trending searches again!”
“Ever since you joined this production, it’s like you live on the trending list. I swear, I need to find a master to calculate your fortune maybe someone in the cast has a conflicting zodiac with you, causing all this bad luck.”
As she spoke, she shot a glare at Su Jin, her dislike written all over her face.
Su Jin rolled her eyes and leaned in to look at the phone.
Some persistent paparazzi must have been staking out the scene. They had captured photos of the two of them meeting Song Jing outside the police station.
The standoff between the three was clearly visible. The caption read: “Movie Queen Ye Qinglan Trapped in Controversy Again, Public Clash with Song Group CEO.”
Scrolling down, there were blurry photos of Fang Qi being loaded into an ambulance, accompanied by a long, detailed blog post explaining the events.
The post had already gone viral, with comments surpassing a million.
“Look at this article!” Zhao Man stomped her foot in anger. “Some staff member must have sold the info. There’s even an audio recording!”
Zhao Man played another clip. The background noise was chaotic, but Fang Qi’s painful screams and curses were distinct, followed by her shouting Song Jing’s name.
With the information leaked to this extent, it was hard to tell if it was poor security by the crew or the power of money. Whoever sold it definitely made a fortune.
Even though she had heard it before, Zhao Man was still fuming. “Originally, everyone was focused on Fang Qi’s assault, but then photos of you and Song Jing at Yiliu Road surfaced. Now all three of you are trending keywords!”
“Also, the production just called. They said the investors are demanding you come forward to settle the public outcry. If the situation isn’t calmed down, you don’t even need to bother showing up at the set…”
