After Escaping My Paranoid Wife's Control - Chapter 12
Song Yu and Ying Man left the conference room and returned to their workstations.
“President Song.” Ji Mingsui stood up.
She took the initiative to say, “I understand. Work, after all, is a two-way choice.”
Song Yu pursed her lips slightly.
If only Ji Mingsui had treated love with the same attitude she treated work.
Ji Mingsui’s attitude toward work was “a two-way choice.”
Yet, Ji Mingsui’s attitude toward love was, “Once I have chosen you, then regardless of whether you choose me or not, you can forget about escaping my grasp for the rest of your life.”
Ji Mingsui said to Song Yu, “Don’t worry. In ten days, as soon as I receive the bonus I deserve, I will pack up my things and leave the company immediately.”
“While waiting for the bonus, I will do some basic work around the office, just helping out with odd jobs and the like.”
“For these ten days, you can just pay me an intern’s salary.”
Song Yu nodded. “Alright.”
She stared into Ji Mingsui’s eyes and promised, “Ten days from now, as soon as that payment hits our account, I will issue your bonus immediately.”
“You can also rest assured. What I promise you, I will certainly fulfill.”
During the eleven years she had spent with Ji Mingsui in her past life, although Ji Mingsui’s desire for control had been incredibly strong and she had set many absurd rules for her, Song Yu had always fulfilled every single thing she had ever promised Ji Mingsui.
For instance, checking in exactly on the hour, not allowing any other women to sit in her passenger seat, not allowing herself to get too close to other women…
Some of these rules she had agreed to while drunk and not in a clear state of mind.
Others she had been coaxed by Ji Mingsui into agreeing to while she was overly excited in bed.
But no matter how she had ended up agreeing to them, as long as it was something she had promised Ji Mingsui, she had ultimately fulfilled every single one in the end.
This time would be no exception.
Ten days from now, once that payment arrived, she would definitely keep her word and issue the bonus to Ji Mingsui immediately.
Ji Mingsui smiled and responded, “Alright.”
“Thank you, President Song.”
Then, she sat down in her chair.
“You’re welcome,” Song Yu said as she sat down in her own chair as well.
She flipped open her notebook and used a pen to write two large words on the paper: “Quit Drinking.”
The very first thing she needed to do after her rebirth was to fire Ji Mingsui.
Now, this first task could be considered half-complete.
The second thing she needed to do after her rebirth was to quit drinking.
Because whenever she drank too much, she blacked out.
In her past life, the things she had promised Ji Mingsui while drunk and unconscious were things she actually had absolutely no memory of once she sobered up.
It was always the next day, when Ji Mingsui approached her with a recording to make her fulfill her promises, that she would find out she had carelessly made promises to Ji Mingsui again the night before.
The habit of blacking out was actually quite dangerous, and she had wanted to quit drinking for a long time.
However, her past self had been far too bored. Every day consisted of nothing but eating, drinking, playing around, shopping, beauty treatments, fitness, as well as traveling, playing video games, and scrolling through short videos…
Being that bored, if she didn’t consume some alcohol, she really wouldn’t have been able to keep going.
Therefore, she had tried to quit drinking many times in her past life but had never succeeded.
In this life, her life had finally become fulfilling. Every day she had to work, earn money, run business errands, socialize, work overtime, and do chores…
Add to that her financial situation in this lifetime, where she was so poor she couldn’t even afford a bottle of good alcohol.
Thus, she believed that she would definitely succeed in quitting drinking in this lifetime.
Sitting opposite her, Ji Mingsui placed her phone onto a stand.
She put on her headphones and began watching a variety show while sipping her tea.
Beside her, Shen Lanxi understood Ji Mingsui’s behavior perfectly.
When someone was about to be fired, who would still work hard?
If she were Ji Mingsui, she would also choose to slack off and coast through these final ten days.
Shen Lanxi glanced at Ji Mingsui’s phone screen and read the name of the variety show aloud, “You Are the Best Actress.”
It was a show where well-known directors and actors guided amateurs in acting.
She asked softly, “Sister Mingsui, do you like watching this variety show too?”
Ji Mingsui nodded. “Yes.”
She evaluated, “This variety show can help amateurs who have never encountered acting before learn a lot of practical techniques regarding performance.”
For instance, an amateur like herself.
Shen Lanxi asked, “Sister Mingsui, is your dream to become an actor?”
Ji Mingsui shook her head. Her dream was not to become an actor.
However, starting from today, she was going to work hard to improve her acting skills by reading books on performance, watching film and television variety shows, and other methods.
Because acting was the fastest way for her to achieve her dream in this lifetime.
