After Entering a Contract Marriage with a Disabled Alpha - Chapter 8
For any Alpha, the pheromones of an Omega are the most premium and violent aphrodisiac.
Qin Shen was an S-grade Alpha. To him, most Omega pheromones did not have much of an impact. But this fragrance in the air…
Qin Shen’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He suddenly felt a bit thirsty. With his keen sense of smell, he realized almost instantly that an Omega was in heat, and it was exactly the boy staying next door—Pei Yu.
The rose fragrance became increasingly rich. It was not a cloying sweetness, but rather the scent of a wild rose growing freely in the depths of a forest, carrying a deep woody undertone. It felt like a flower rooted in a stormy wilderness, blooming brilliantly. The scent was lingering and thick, and every thread of it was a deep temptation to an Alpha.
His blood boiled because of the rose scent. His cells were screaming. Qin Shen clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, the veins on the side of his neck bulging. Since it affected him this much, it was clear that Pei Yu’s compatibility with him was exceptionally high.
The possessiveness and dark side determined by his genes began to surface uncontrollably. Two voices in his mind fought against each other.
One was rational. It told Qin Shen that as an Alpha, approaching an Omega in heat was an extremely dangerous thing. Moreover, Pei Yu was so slender; he definitely would not be able to stop him. He should wake up Li Shuang, the driver, or notify the hotel staff to handle it. He must not take a single step out of his room.
The other voice was primal and frantic, wrapped in thick desire. An Omega who was perfectly compatible with him was right within reach. If he just went over, the desire that had haunted his fangs for over twenty years—to sink into the glands on the back of an Omega’s neck—could finally be satisfied. His burgeoning emotions urged him to invade, to coat every part of the Omega’s body with his own pheromones.
Time passed in a stalemate. The floral fragrance grew thicker, like vines entwining Qin Shen’s limbs. He moved his knuckles and picked up the phone by the bed. He dialed Li Shuang’s number. The light from the screen cast a glow on his sculptural features and illuminated the raw, endless desire in his dark eyes.
Seconds later: “I am sorry, the phone you are calling is powered off.”
This sentence was like a spark that completely ignited the madness in Qin Shen’s heart. He seemed to have found a perfectly righteous reason. Qin Shen sat in the wheelchair by the bed and pressed the forward button. Over the few meters of distance, the sweet floral scent in the air released itself aggressively.
Qin Shen lowered his gaze as his palm touched the door lock. A shred of reason buried by desire returned. His pale, long knuckles stroked the lock. If Pei Yu had locked the door, he would retreat and call the hotel staff to deal with the Omega’s accidental heat.
As long as it is locked…
He turned the handle. The door opened. The taut string in Qin Shen’s mind snapped completely.
The boy was too defenseless.
The wheelchair rolled over the floor with a slight sound. By the time Qin Shen snapped back to his senses, he was already at the bedside. Pei Yu, lying on the bed, was completely consumed by the heat. His T-shirt had been hiked up during his restless movements, revealing a small section of his fair, slender waist that was strikingly eye-catching in the dim room.
“Are you alright?”
Qin Shen’s voice was raspy and hoarse. With every breath he took, the Omega’s pheromones flooded his nose. His heart beat like a war drum, pounding so hard his chest felt numb and hot.
“Mhm?” Pei Yu turned toward the direction of the voice. His clear brown eyes were misty, looking as if they had been drenched in rain. His entire face was radiating heat, his cheeks flushed like spring peaches, and the red mole at the corner of his eye was more vivid than ever.
“Hot…” Pei Yu murmured in a daze.
Qin Shen approached slowly, his hands gripping the wheelchair armrests so tightly that the veins on the back of his hands stood out. Strands of Alpha pheromones seemed ready to burst through the cage of their prison. They seeped out through the small gaps between the gland patch and his skin, excited and aggressive, carrying a thick sense of possessiveness as they enveloped the oblivious youth.
From his fair, delicate ankles to his long, straight legs, and up along his slender waist, the scent invaded him inch by inch.
Natural compatibility similarly attracted Pei Yu, who was as ignorant as a young animal. He drew closer to Qin Shen by the bedside, his hazy subconscious guiding his body. Pei Yu hooked the man’s pinky finger, his watery eyes looking up with expectation.
“It is so hot it hurts,” Pei Yu grumbled. “Is the air conditioner broken?”
The skin where his pinky was hooked began to burn. With just that tiny bit of skin contact, Qin Shen felt himself losing control; the fire in his body burned even brighter.
“No,” his voice was low and gravelly, as if mixed with sand. “The air conditioner is not broken. Your heat has arrived.”
Pei Yu blinked ignorantly. The fingers hooking the man’s hand turned into a full grasp. Pei Yu hugged the man’s wrist and pulled it toward his cheek. He rubbed against Qin Shen’s slightly damp palm.
Pheromones also existed in bodily fluids, such as sweat, saliva, and blood.
“Heat?” Pei Yu sniffed the man’s fingertips. The crisp, pleasant scent of cedar and mint made him feel incredibly comfortable. “Betas do not have heats.”
“Mhm. So you are an Omega now. You have had a secondary differentiation.” Qin Shen licked his lips.
A layer of soft warmth came from his fingertips. The youth opened his mouth and gently took Qin Shen’s finger inside, wanting to taste more pheromones to alleviate his restlessness. As the tip of the tongue brushed past, a tingle spread from his palm to his arm, feeling like an electric shock.
Qin Shen suddenly snapped awake. He pulled his hand back sharply and rubbed his fingertips. They were sticky and damp, mixed with the fragrance of the Omega, melting into his blood through his skin.
“Mhm?” Pei Yu blinked, realizing the hand that made him feel better was gone. His misty eyes looked at Qin Shen with accusation.
“This cannot go on. I will lose control.” Qin Shen ruffled the boy’s hair and turned to pull open the drawer of the nightstand. As expected, he found several suppressants developed by the pharmaceutical company under the Qin Group. He quickly tore open the packaging and rested the boy’s arm on his lap.
“Ugh!” Pei Yu, who had been poked by a needle out of nowhere, nearly cried from the pain.
The liquid in the syringe was pushed into his vein bit by bit. As time passed, the medicine gradually took effect. Qin Shen looked at the bulging gland on the back of the youth’s neck and pressed it gently, confirming that the swollen area had flattened slightly.
That casual press was pure torture for Pei Yu. A wave of numbing heat spread from the base of his spine. Pei Yu trembled all over, his gaze becoming scattered. He curled his toes, his whole body turning red. A sense of shame surged; he felt so embarrassed he almost fell apart. He pulled the man’s hand over and bit down hard on his wrist.
A slight pain unfolded, but Qin Shen was not angry at all. He only felt that the youth was like a provoked cat venting his anger.
“Be good. I am taking you to the hospital now,” Qin Shen said.
The night was late. After being woken up, Li Shuang and the driver were in a daze until they splashed some water on their faces. As Betas, they could not smell the pheromones. However, seeing that Pei Yu’s forehead and face were covered in sweat and his cheeks were unnaturally red, they understood that something was wrong.
When they heard that Pei Yu had differentiated into an Omega and that Qin Shen had already administered a suppressant, they were stunned.
“Li Shuang, call the hospital.” “Old Yang, go back to the manor and bring a set of clothes.”
The dirty clothes had not been dry-cleaned yet; he could not go to the hospital in a bathrobe.
“He really differentiated into an Omega?” Li Shuang glanced at the suppressant packaging on the wooden cabinet.
“Yes. It was quite sudden. A rare secondary differentiation,” Qin Shen said.
The secondary gender usually differentiates between the ages of ten and fourteen, but a small number of people have a delayed differentiation. Before that happens, they are classified as Betas because the glands are not prominent and there are no pheromones.
“But he is an Omega…” Li Shuang murmured.
The first differentiation of an Omega is always accompanied by their first heat. To prevent accidents, many families prepare in advance to avoid exciting strange Alphas and causing irreversible incidents. Li Shuang found it hard to imagine how President Qin, as an Alpha, had maintained his reason and stayed calm. While education and upbringing can influence behavior, the natural attraction between an Alpha and an Omega determined by genes is not something reason can easily suppress.
The ideal is beautiful, but reality is harsh. Just as many loving couples eventually lose to the “curse” of high compatibility—which brings pleasure yet is loathed by many—the biological pull is undeniable.
Hearing that the man was about to leave, Pei Yu, experiencing something akin to the “imprinting” of a fledgling bird, grabbed his sleeve. He looked at Qin Shen with eyes full of trust and dependence.
“I am not some ‘good person,'” Qin Shen said, gently unlinking Pei Yu’s hand. “Do not trust Alphas so easily.”
Pei Yu listened with a dazed head, a giant question mark popping up in his mind.
“You two go get ready,” Qin Shen said, finding a gland patch at the bottom of the drawer. “I will apply a patch for him to disperse the scent, lest we cause unnecessary trouble.”
It would be a headache if other Alphas caught the scent. The driver and assistant lowered their heads, said “Yes,” and left.
Once they were gone, Pei Yu, sitting on the bed, wanted to be closer to Qin Shen. He shifted his position and rested his feet on Qin Shen’s knees. Obviously, he was still being controlled by the aftereffects of the heat; if he were fully sober, he would never have done such a thing. Pei Yu even wanted to crawl onto the man’s lap and throw himself into his arms. Only his deep-seated sense of propriety and politeness kept him in check.
With the suppressant administered, the rose fragrance clinging to Qin Shen faded, and he felt less stifled. Everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion.
“Turn around and lower your head. I will put the patch on for you.” Qin Shen tore open the package. Unlike the artificial skin-style patch on his own neck, the ones provided by the hotel were cartoon stickers more popular with young people. This one was a milky-white cartoon cat.
“Oh.” Pei Yu nodded obediently. He retracted his feet and turned his back to Qin Shen. Then, he submissively lowered his head.
With that movement, the gland on the back of the Omega’s neck was completely revealed to Qin Shen. The milky skin was flushed with a faint pink and covered in a layer of light sweat, shimmering under the bright lights. Despite the suppressant, the gland still protruded in a small arc, hiding a rich concentration of pheromones. It was completely defenseless.
He truly is an Omega with no concept of self-protection, Qin Shen thought. His gaze grew darker. At the same time, he secretly cursed his own hypocrisy; he was the one who had entered the room of an Omega in heat, and he was the one who had told Pei Yu to lower his head. Yet here he was, blaming Pei Yu for not being more cautious in front of an Alpha.
Qin Shen heard his own faint swallow. The sticker became wrinkled in his tightening palm, and the veins on the side of his neck throbbed. After a long time, Pei Yu asked softly why he hadn’t started. Qin Shen peeled the sticker and lined it up.
A newly differentiated Omega is sensitive and easily stirred. Pei Yu clearly felt the man’s fingertips touch the gland on his neck. In a daze, he finally realized he was no longer a Beta, but an Omega. A numbing electric sensation instantly surged through his entire body, making his scalp tingle.
Pei Yu arched his back and tried to shrink away. To ensure the sticker was secure, Qin Shen gave it one last press. A sensation he had never experienced before swept over him again. Pei Yu’s eyelashes trembled uncontrollably, and he could not stop himself from letting out an ambiguous, soul-stirring moan.
“…” The atmosphere suddenly went dead silent.
Qin Shen paused, his chest feeling hot. He turned his burning gaze away and withdrew his hand reluctantly. “It is done.”
Pei Yu, having let out such a strange gasp, was completely terrified by his own behavior. No matter how inexperienced or ignorant he was, he was an adult and knew how “loose” his voice had just sounded. It was just a poke on the neck; why did I make that sound?!
Pei Yu felt awkward and ashamed. Blood quickly rushed to his ears, his cheeks burned, and heat radiated from the top of his head.
“Do not take it to heart,” Qin Shen said, seeing that he was about to die of embarrassment. He organized his words to comfort him. “With the first differentiation, many Omega glands are sensitive and fragile. It was my fault for not controlling the pressure of my hand—”
“Do not say another word.” Pei Yu pulled up the quilt and buried himself inside. His voice sounded muffled from under the covers. “Just let me be for a moment.”
Looking at the shifting lump on the bed, Qin Shen found it amusing and let out two soft, unceremonious chuckles. Hearing that, Pei Yu’s face turned even redder.
Ugh, this is simply too embarrassing!
