Chapter 54: Idiot
Gu Qiaorou, however, couldn’t save face. Being suddenly barked at by a crude woman left the young mistress feeling extremely slighted. She pinched her housekeeper hard.
The housekeeper’s face contorted as he endured the sharp pain, speaking to Fang Ziyue with an unfriendly tone: “Fang Ziyue, you disgraced your teacher’s name by selling fake nutrient solutions. Do you still have the nerve to show your face in public?”
“What is there for me to be ashamed of? If it weren’t for selling ‘fake’ things, who knows where your young miss would be right now? We all know how the Gu family made its fortune; I don’t need to spell it out, do I?”
All crows under heaven are black; no one has the right to mock anyone else. Besides, she wasn’t going to take the fall for the original owner’s mistakes.
Fang Ziyue sneered. She had finally managed to reward herself with a decent meal, yet she had lost her entire appetite thanks to the group of chirping people outside her door. Who wants to eat while listening to curses? Hearing the “crazy woman’s” ancestors for eight generations being dragged through the mud made Fang Ziyue genuinely annoyed. To curse a lunatic even if you curse her to death, what would she understand?
The woman stepped out, scanning the area before she spotted a little “gecko” huddled in the corner. That silhouette, that feeling… Fang Ziyue rubbed her eyes and squinted hard.
No way… did my wife just get delivered to my doorstep?!
“We’re talking about that lunatic, what is it to you? You’re not the one raising her, so why act like a saint here?” Prompted by the housekeeper, a bribed individual quickly stood up to retort.
Fang Ziyue snapped back to reality. She swung her spatula, shoving aside the servant who was dragging Ling Qiu. Carrying the scent of cooked food, the filthy little mermaid couldn’t help but burrow into her embrace.
So fragrant… so fragrant…
This move by Ling Qiu made things easy for Fang Ziyue. She picked Ling Qiu up without a hint of disgust at the filth. She looked sideways at Gu Qiaorou and said coldly, “We’re all adults here; stop playing games. Since you and Liang Xiuyue don’t want to raise her, I will.”
“One word: do you want her or not?”
If they didn’t, she would take care of Ling Qiu from now on. Whether she was crazy or slow, she would look after her for a lifetime. If they still wanted her back, Fang Ziyue would have to resort to force, and they shouldn’t blame her if she played too rough.
Gu Qiaorou certainly didn’t want this crazy woman, but for the sake of appearances, she had to keep up the act. She pursed her lips and frowned: “You’re an outsider; I don’t trust you.”
Fang Ziyue nearly laughed at Gu Qiaorou’s thick-skinned remark. The person had practically been abandoned to die; if she hadn’t happened to live here, who knows where her wife would have ended up dead?
“Miss Gu, if you’re so bored, I’ll call up a few hundred people to act with you some other day.” Everyone can play a role. As long as the nutrient solutions were provided, there would be plenty of spectators on this Desolate Planet to join the show. “But right now, I’m going home to eat. I don’t have time for your runaround. Give me a straight answer: do you want her or not?”
The impatience on Fang Ziyue’s face was heavy. The mental energy she let leak out carried an overwhelming pressure that gripped everyone’s sensitive nerves. It was like sheep seeing a wolf; who dared to move?
Interstellar humans are divided into S, A, B, and C ranks based on mental energy strength. High-ranking humans naturally possess a commanding pressure a birthright skill and the strictest hierarchy etched into their mental energy. Gu Qiaorou, who grew up on the Desolate Planet, had only been lucky enough to meet one B-rank person, a merchant from the Imperial Planet.
It was that man’s mesmerizing aura and the uncontrollable urge to submit to his pressure that sparked Gu Qiaorou’s desire to go to the Imperial Planet. If a merchant was that powerful, what about the others there? If she could marry someone that strong, she’d have everything she ever wanted.
Gu Qiaorou was so suppressed by Fang Ziyue’s mental energy that she dared not move. Others with severe mental riots clutched their heads, their faces twisted in agony. Fortunately, Fang Ziyue didn’t want the person in her arms to see a field of corpses, so she quickly retracted her mental energy; the previous pressure was just a warning.
Gu Qiaorou’s face was pale as she bit her lip in frustration. She had rushed all this way to this godforsaken place just to make the crazy woman die, not to find someone to take her in!
“Miss…” The housekeeper sensed things weren’t right and whispered in Gu Qiaorou’s ear. “Think about it. This Fang Ziyue is someone who ruined her own teacher’s reputation. She does nothing without profit. That crazy old woman definitely won’t have a good time in her hands.”
Gu Qiaorou was unwilling, and would have made her servants harass Fang Ziyue, but the small amount of mental energy Fang Ziyue just released had already stirred their unstable mental energy. Asking them to go up and stop her now would be a suicide mission.
Resentment flickered in the housekeeper’s eyes. Who could have known that the cute and kind young miss would grow up to be so stupid and malicious? But they, who had signed lifetime contracts with the Gu family, couldn’t leave; they could only try to make their situation more bearable.
Gu Qiaorou was unaware that her housekeeper had developed a different heart. She valued this submissive man and thought his suggestion was good. A woman with a ruined reputation could barely support herself; how could she support a lunatic? Perhaps she was taking her in to harvest her organs for money.
Gu Qiaorou snorted, “Since you’re so willing to raise her, you can have her.” Malice and mockery flashed in her eyes. “I hope you don’t give up halfway and throw her away after two days. After all, she is a living human being~”
“If you’re not going to raise her, then shut up. Get out of the way; you’re blocking my path.” Fang Ziyue knit her brows, her restrained mental energy restless, wanting to swat the buzzing mosquito in front of her.
A sudden sense of suffocation hit her. Gu Qiaorou’s face turned purple-red as if from a heavy blow, and she could barely breathe.
“Miss! Miss, are you alright?!” Terrified, the housekeeper quickly led Gu Qiaorou away. Once inside the aircraft, he looked back with lingering fear. To be able to target a specific person like that—when did the woman who sold fake nutrient solutions become so powerful?
With the principals gone, the hundred or so people dragged there to bolster the scene vanished instantly. Heavens, that half-dead seller of fake goods actually didn’t die at home? A few people who had been eyeing Fang Ziyue’s house lamented the missed opportunity, feeling as if Fang Ziyue had stolen their own property indignant and resentful.
Back then, the original owner had made a lot of money selling fake solutions, enough to turn her home into one of the top luxury residences on the Desolate Planet. And because she was afraid of being beaten to death for her fraud, she had installed quite a few weapons in her house.
Fang Ziyue held her little lunatic in one arm and tried to pull out the spatula she had thrown into a stone. She had used it to hit the loud-mouthed man earlier; she hadn’t expected to use so much force that she broke the handle and couldn’t pull the head out.
“Tsk…” Fang Ziyue tossed the broken handle aside. Those bored people not only bullied her wife but also cost her a spatula. This debt would have to be settled with Gu Qiaorou.
Fang Ziyue adjusted the person in her arms and looked down to see a pair of slightly dim eyes under the long hair, looking at the broken spatula head with curiosity. Dazed like a curious cat, she was looking very intently. Fang Ziyue couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
She held Ling Qiu tighter, brushed back the messy hair covering her face, and said warmly, “Come home with me. I’ll take care of you from now on.”
Ling Qiu blinked. Her mermaid perception allowed her to feel the overflowing kindness from Fang Ziyue, as well as a warm, fuzzy emotion intense yet very comfortable.
Fang Ziyue wasn’t discouraged by the lack of a response. She carried Ling Qiu home and prepared water to bathe the “little fool.” Ling Qiu’s clothes were stuck with mud and trash, which rubbed off onto Fang Ziyue, so she simply stripped them both and sat beside her to wash her.
Ling Qiu’s eyes widened in shock as she watched the woman remove her home clothes, revealing fair skin and a slender, well-proportioned body. Fang Ziyue had just worked up some lather and was ready to scrub her wife when she realized the person was drowning!
She scrambled to fish her out of the bathtub and quickly patted Ling Qiu’s back. As the dirt was washed away from her back, it revealed a skin tone as lustrous as a pearl from the deep sea, glowing softly under the lights. The smooth, warm skin seemed to have a consciousness of its own, clinging tightly to Fang Ziyue’s hand.
Fang Ziyue let go as if she had been burned. The little one pressed against her chest had a face turned bright red, looking as if she were about to faint. A mermaid can die if they are too frightened!
The muddled little mermaid angrily reached out to push away this “shameless” woman. She had no shame! Not only was she not dressed properly, she… she touched her! The little mermaid, who had never been close to anyone, couldn’t handle such close contact. In her shame and panic, she began to drop strings of tears.
The transparent tears turned into round, beautiful pearls as they fell, hitting the water and leaving a pool of treasures.
Fang Ziyue: “!!”
My wife doesn’t seem to be an idiot?!
The moment her tears turned into pearls, the little mermaid knew she was in trouble. She was exposed! She scrambled to gather the pearls, trying to hide them as if… as if they had never appeared. If she wasn’t currently naked in the bath, she would have run out long ago!
Ling Qiu shrank into a corner of the bathtub, not daring to lift her head. She was so afraid that if she looked up, she would see greed in Fang Ziyue’s expression. Would she send her to be dissected? Would she sell her? Ling Qiu trembled unconsciously.
The little mermaid, whose life force was nearly exhausted, didn’t even have the ability to defend herself; she could only be molded by others. Greedy for a final meal, she now regretted it. If only… if only she hadn’t been lured by that fragrant scent.
“Splash.” The woman opposite her slipped in her haste and nearly fell into the tub.
Climbing up through the pain, Fang Ziyue heart-brokenly used a towel to wipe the tears from Ling Qiu’s face, coaxing her with a deep frown: “Don’t cry. It was my fault; I went too far. I apologize to you. Please stop crying, alright?” She had truly thought Ling Qiu had some mental issues in this world. Moreover, having slept beside her for so long in the previous world, she hadn’t adjusted and had overstepped.
She hadn’t expected to scare her wife so much. After all, stripping someone’s clothes to bathe them at the first sign of disagreement was indeed terrifying. Fang Ziyue bit her lip in frustration; she had messed up.
Ling Qiu looked up with a face like a little tabby cat. It felt a bit comfortable being wiped by Fang Ziyue with a clean towel. Her dark blue eyes peeked at the towel getting dirtier with every wipe, and her cheeks flushed red again. She was so dirty… The little mermaid wished she could dive into the water and never come out, but she was afraid of scaring the person beside her again.
The wet woman beside her was anxious and self-reproachable, but Ling Qiu knew they weren’t talking about the same thing. She was unhappy about the woman not being dressed, but she wasn’t truly angry; she was just afraid of being exposed…
Ling Qiu clenched her fist, tentatively raised her hand, and brought what was in her hand to the nervous, self-reproaching woman. In her open palm were many round, beautiful pearls each one round and lovely, just like her wife.
However, a certain person was a bit slow. She touched the pearls and coaxed with a doting tone: “They’re beautiful. I’ll play with you after the bath, alright?” Just like coaxing a cat or dog: “Good girl, eat your food, and Master will play with you afterward.”
Ling Qiu’s dark blue eyes widened. She tilted her head and looked at the woman, her mouth opening in confusion.
I am a mermaid! I’m exposed! Look at the pearls! The little mermaid anxiously pushed the pearls closer.
Fang Ziyue naturally praised her: “The pearls Ling Qiu-qiu makes are so beautiful. I’ll help you put them away after the bath.”
The little mermaid was stunned. The little mermaid became withdrawn. She pouted gloomily, put away the pearls, and angrily turned her back, unwilling to deal with this human anymore.
Not realizing what happened and thinking her wife only had the mental level of a child, the person coaxed: “Ling Qiu-qiu, turn around, alright? Let me wash you.”
No! Hmph!
The sulking little mermaid gripped the edge of the bathtub, her nose twitching, her two long legs paddling restlessly in the water. This human was so stupid; she couldn’t even guess she was a mermaid after seeing the pearls. She was not going to listen to a stupid human!
