After Dumping the Student Council President, I Got Held Back - Chapter 6
Tonight, Ruan Qingcheng didn’t have the driver take them to her villa on the hillside. Instead, she chose an apartment in a high-rise near Nanda.
This was a relief to Ling Xiang. If the young miss had decided to abandon her on the hillside again, she would have had to walk all the way back to school, which would have been a nightmare.
Here, even if Ruan Qingcheng refused to take her home tomorrow, Ling Xiang could take the subway back herself.
As soon as they entered, Ruan Qingcheng abruptly stopped taking off her shoes. A cold smirk played on her lips as she turned to Ling Xiang, who was following behind her. “Take my shoes off for me.”
One minute she’d want her to put them on, the next she’d want them off.
Even with Ling Xiang’s patience, she felt like slamming the door and leaving right then.
Almost graduated.
She repeated the words silently in her mind as she slowly crouched down to remove Ruan Qingcheng’s shoes.
Ruan Qingcheng looked down at Ling Xiang’s actions, a chill in her eyes. She lifted her foot, the pointed toe of her high heel landing directly on the back of Ling Xiang’s hand.
She applied slight pressure, just enough to make Ling Xiang feel pain, but not so much that it was unbearable.
A flash of anger crossed Ling Xiang’s mind as she felt her hand being stepped on without warning. No matter how much she wanted to humiliate someone, this was going too far. She frowned and looked up, meeting Ruan Qingcheng’s gaze, which held a hint of anger. Then she paused, taken aback.
What is she so angry about?
Ling Xiang had been acting perfectly proper all evening, making sure not to embarrass Ruan Qingcheng in any way.
“Ling Xiang,” Ruan Qingcheng said, lifting Ling Xiang’s chin with a finger and then pinching it hard. “You’ve been misbehaving lately, and I’m not happy about it.”
Misbehaving?
Heaven knows, ever since she started dating Ruan Qingcheng, Ling Xiang had barely gone out with her roommates, terrified that the Young Miss would get possessive and make trouble.
Wait.
In a flash, a thought struck Ling Xiang: Could she have seen that post on the school forum?
“Are you misunderstanding something?” Ling Xiang felt she had to explain. “Did you see pictures of me with someone else? Senior Jiang Zhili and I just happened to run into each other on our way back to school”
“Don’t mention that woman’s name!” Ruan Qingcheng’s sharp voice cut Ling Xiang off, her expression growing even angrier.
She kicked off her high heels and grabbed Ling Xiang by the collar, forcing her to stand up. Pulled by Ruan Qingcheng’s momentum, Ling Xiang stumbled after her into the living room.
Ruan Qingcheng shoved her onto the sofa.
Ling Xiang panicked. “What are you doing?”
They’d been together for over half a year, and while Ruan Qingcheng was often domineering, it was usually through money and status. Ling Xiang had rarely seen her resort to such brute force, her anger verging on desperation.
After all, Miss Ruan had her pride and dignity. How could she possibly get her hands dirty with physical struggles?
Her actions now surprised Ling Xiang more than they frightened her.
Ruan Qingcheng sneered, reaching up to untie the silk ribbon at Ling Xiang’s collar. She pulled it free, then clasped Ling Xiang’s hands together above her head, swiftly wrapping the ribbon around her wrists in tight coils.
Ling Xiang tried to struggle, but Ruan Qingcheng’s strength surprised her.
Giving up, she glared. “What game are you playing now?”
“I told you, I’m not happy,” Ruan Qingcheng said, her fair fingertips unbuttoning Ling Xiang’s shirt one by one. She leaned close to Ling Xiang’s ear and whispered, “So now, I’m going to let off some steam.”
With that, she rose and went to the ice maker on the nearby island counter, grabbing a few cubes.
Ling Xiang watched Ruan Qingcheng’s actions with a puzzled expression.
The girl turned around, a playful smile suddenly curving her lips. As she approached, Ling Xiang instinctively sensed danger and retreated into the sofa.
“Don’t move,” Ruan Qingcheng said, leaning down to pick up an ice cube and drop it directly onto Ling Xiang’s neck.
The sudden, icy shock made Ling Xiang’s body tremble, her eyes instantly reddening at the corners.
Ruan Qingcheng gazed down at the woman’s neck, as fair as fresh snow or the thin walls of precious porcelain. Under the light, faint blue veins showed through, looking so fragile they might snap with a careless touch.
She pressed the ice cube against Ling Xiang’s skin, letting it melt as she traced a path from her neck down to her collarbone.
Ling Xiang let out a soft sound before quickly clamping her mouth shut.
The ice water melted on the woman’s smooth skin, raising goosebumps from the sudden chill. The buttons of her shirt were completely undone, and water droplets trickled down her collarbone.
Ruan Qingcheng sighed. “So beautiful.”
Her bra fell away, and she continued to press the ice cube downward.
Unable to bear the stimulation any longer, Ling Xiang gritted her teeth. “What exactly are you doing?”
Ruan Qingcheng smiled. “I told you, I’m punishing you.”
She moved like a traveler wandering through a snowfield, exploring every inch before finally pressing the ice cube firmly against a sensitive spot with her fingertip.
The cold was so intense it almost stung, and Ling Xiang let out a pained gasp, her breathing quickening.
They were only inches apart, their eyes meeting. Though Ruan Qingcheng’s actions were intimate, her gaze remained devoid of any warmth, making Ling Xiang feel like nothing more than a lab rat on an operating table.
A wave of humiliation surged through her, the most intense she had felt in their half-year together. No amount of money Ruan Qingcheng transferred could erase this feeling.
She couldn’t take it anymore. She wanted to break up!
The Young Miss kept changing her mind, flitting from one game to another, and Ling Xiang simply couldn’t keep up.
But at this point, her body felt weak and limp, and she lacked the strength to protest. Ruan Qingcheng, her interest piqued, moved the ice cube to Ling Xiang’s lips and said, “Eat it.”
Ling Xiang reflexively opened her mouth, and the soft tip of her tongue met the cold ice.
Before she could recover from the sudden chill in her mouth, Ruan Qingcheng had already shed her clothes and leaned over the sofa to press against her.
The moment their skin touched, Ling Xiang let out a contented sigh.
Her vision blurred as she felt the softness against her lips, her eyes widening in surprise.
“Hurry up,” Ruan Qingcheng urged, impatient with her stillness.
A mix of anger and helplessness churned inside Ling Xiang. With a silent sigh, she let the ice melt on her tongue, her tongue exploring as she continued to fulfill her duties as a girlfriend.
The girl tilted her swan-like neck, her expression both proud and disdainful.
She confidently controlled the situation.
The hands on the wall crept forward, and only when the shortest hand had moved two marks did Ruan Qingcheng finally rise, satisfied, and release Ling Xiang.
She picked up her clothes from the floor and casually threw them on. Barefoot, she turned to Ling Xiang and said, “Don’t do anything that upsets me again.”
After a pause, she added, “And you’re not allowed to contact that Jiang woman anymore.”
With that, she turned and went straight into the bathroom, leaving Ling Xiang alone.
Exhausted, Ling Xiang collapsed onto the sofa, staring weakly at the ornate chandelier overhead. Her tongue felt numb.
Recalling the events of the night, a blush crept across her face. Ruan Qingcheng had been far too bold tonight, and her reserved nature struggled to cope.
She didn’t know what had gotten into Ruan Qingcheng, but she had a feeling the Young Miss was acting strangely today.
In the past, Ruan Qingcheng had been domineering, but she had always treated Ling Xiang like a toy to be ordered around. She had never truly gotten angry—not because she was so good-tempered, but because nothing had ever really mattered to her.
In simple terms, she didn’t care.
But today…
Ling Xiang had a gut feeling she’d stepped on some kind of landmine with Ruan Qingcheng. The woman was genuinely angry, which was why she was putting her through all this.
But just because of a photo of her with someone else? Ruan Qingcheng didn’t even like her. Her so-called possessiveness was only because Ling Xiang was her girlfriend.
After lying there for a while to recover, Ling Xiang finally sat up.
She wasn’t planning to stay the night. It wasn’t even 10:30 PM yet, and she could still catch the last subway back to school.
She straightened her rumpled clothes, buttoned her shirt all the way up, and picked up her suit jacket, which was completely saturated with Ruan Qingcheng’s perfume.
In just six months, this woman’s presence had, like this perfume, spread uninvited into every corner of her life.
It’s time to end this, she thought.
Ling Xiang felt completely drained the next morning, a result of her hangover and the long night she’d spent messing around with Ruan Qingcheng.
Her temples throbbed faintly, and she rubbed them, worried she might be coming down with a cold. She climbed out of bed, determined to make herself a packet of instant medicine.
Jiang Siyu and He Yingying weren’t in the dorm, but Lin Sheng had already returned from home. She was leaning against her desk, engrossed in a video game. When she looked up and saw Ling Xiang, she let out a “Hey there!”
Ling Xiang reached for the electric kettle to heat water for her medicine. “What is it?” she asked, her voice flat with exhaustion.
Lin Sheng studied her, making little clicking sounds of fascination.
The scrutiny made Ling Xiang’s scalp prickle. “Did something grow on my face?” she asked, exasperated.
“Xiang, Xiang,” Lin Sheng said, sliding her chair closer, her eyes sparkling with gossip. “What’s going on between you and Senior Sister Jiang Zhili?”
After Ruan Qingcheng’s “punishment” the night before, Ling Xiang was almost developing a phobia of the Jiang Zhili situation. She eyed Lin Sheng warily. “What? Don’t tell me you believe those ridiculous rumors on the school forum?”
“I don’t really believe anything on the forum, but…” Lin Sheng drew out her words, “while you were asleep, Senior Jiang came to our dorm.”
“You mean Senior Sister Jiang Zhili?” Ling Xiang sat up straight. “What was she doing here?”
Lin Sheng smiled. “She came looking for you. I told her you seemed to have had a bit to drink, and she looked really worried. She even said not to wake you, to let you rest properly.”
Ling Xiang frowned slightly, unsure of Jiang Zhili’s attitude.
They had known each other in high school, but it had been years, and even the best relationships faded. Back then, she and Jiang Zhili had barely been more than acquaintances at school, just nodding and saying hello when they passed each other.
It wasn’t easy for Jiang Zhili to come all the way from the other campus to their dorm area. Even though they had added each other on social media two days ago, Ling Xiang didn’t think they were close enough for her to come all the way over just to check in.
Especially now, when they were both in the spotlight.
