After Dumping the Scumbag Top, I Was Relentlessly Chased by a Top-Tier Idol - Chapter 35
Before hearing that familiar voice, Pei Yutai was still busy filing “petty reports” to Lin Yizhou about Shen Xu regarding the morning’s events.
This morning, because everyone had rested well the night before or perhaps because they were all filled with anticipation and excitement nearly every guest woke up early. They huddled around the campfire, grilling and eating fish.
After yesterday’s feasting, only the smaller fish remained. Pei Yutai ate a few but wasn’t full, so he asked Lin Yizhou to grill some more for him.
Just as Lin Yizhou was handing him the final fish, it was intercepted mid-air.
It was snatched by Shen Xu!
Before Pei Yutai could react, the small grilled fish did a lap in front of him and was held up to Lin Yizhou’s lips.
The body of the fish brushed against his lips.
Pei Yutai’s gaze never left the fish; his dazed eyes eventually met Lin Yizhou’s equally bewildered ones.
In a moment of silent understanding, the two of them turned to look at the “culprit,” Shen Xu.
The “culprit” smiled and said, “Captain, be good. Open up and eat.”
Lin Yizhou didn’t listen to him. He reached up, took the fish down, and handed it toward Pei Yutai. “If you don’t mind, you eat it.”
How could Pei Yutai mind? His eyes lit up, and he reached out to take the fragrant little fish. Just then, a hand landed on his shoulder, and a chilling voice sounded in his ear like a demon’s whisper: “Insatiable little brother Yutai, you’ve already eaten a quarter of the fish this morning. The Captain spent all his time grilling for you and has barely eaten. If your conscience can live with it, then go ahead and eat.”
The hand suspended in mid-air froze for two seconds before finally retracting. He pushed the fish back toward Lin Yizhou. “Captain, you eat it. Actually, I’m full. Your grilling just smells so good I got a bit greedy.”
Lin Yizhou sent it back again. “I’m full.”
Pei Yutai declined once more. “I’m really full, Captain. You eat.”
After several rounds of back-and-forth, Lin Yizhou admitted defeat and ate the last fish.
Shen Xu patted Pei Yutai on the shoulder with the air of a teacher proud of a pupil. “Little brother, that’s how it should be. Otherwise, if you come to a wilderness survival show only to go back fat, you’ll probably be too ashamed to see that person you like.”
Pei Yutai: “…”
On the way to the gathering point, the more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t swallow his resentment. He began “tattling” to Lin Yizhou.
“Brother Zhou, let me tell you, Brother Xu’s jealousy is ridiculous. I already told him I’d definitely support your love, but he’s still not at ease. He even gets jealous of me…”
“You know?” Lin Yizhou interrupted him, sounding slightly shocked.
Pei Yutai nodded as if it were obvious. Since he had decided to tattle, he hadn’t planned on hiding that part.
Lin Yizhou asked again, “How did you know?”
Pei Yutai leaned into his ear. “Because I am brilliant and wise, of course. I saw through Brother Xu’s little designs on you at a single glance…”
Lin Yizhou looked at him with a strange expression.
“Alright…” Pei Yutai admitted. “Brother Xu made it too obvious himself. After I noticed, I asked him casually, and he admitted it quite openly.”
“But he strictly ordered me not to spread it around, even though his own ‘showing off’ tail is wagging so high it’s almost hitting the sky…”
Lin Yizhou nodded, glanced at Shen Xu who was feigning indifference and said nothing more.
Pei Yutai, meanwhile, continued to chatter on, listing his Brother Xu’s “crimes” in detail.
Even after they gathered, he continued to whisper and get distracted.
Hearing Director Tu begin to speak, Shen Xu interrupted his rambling, saying leisurely, “If you’re going to be a wingman, at least know when to stop. Listen to the director first.”
Wingman?
Who said he was being a wingman?
Pei Yutai was stunned for a moment and immediately explained to Lin Yizhou: “Brother Zhou, I am definitely not being a wingman. I just want you to stand up for me. Brother Xu is a bully. He just said I’m as fat as a pig and not fit to see the person I like…”
The last word came out purely by momentum.
For a moment, he thought he was hallucinating.
But when he looked up and saw the owner of that voice, the facts proved he wasn’t.
Was he dreaming?
He didn’t hesitate to pinch his own arm.
“Hiss, it hurts.”
It was real.
The youth gazed into his eyes and slowly uttered his own name: “Jiang Yi.”
Jiang Yi? Who is this? A new artist? He looks so sweet and handsome! My old lady heart has reached its peak!
He looks like a pure little white sheep, but I’m not sure. Let me look again…
Who is he staring at? That look doesn’t seem like a pure little sheep; it looks like a black-bellied big bad wolf.
Shen Xu followed Jiang Yi’s line of sight, confirming it was fixed on Pei Yutai and not Lin Yizhou. His tensed expression finally relaxed.
Seeing Pei Yutai’s face full of surprise and guilt, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. He nudged Lin Yizhou with his elbow, signaling him to look at Pei Yutai.
Lin Yizhou looked at the person trying to hide behind him and spoke calmly: “Do you know him?”
Pei Yutai shook his head quickly, but realizing something, he quickly nodded again.
Shen Xu guessed that this Jiang Yi might be the person Pei Yutai had a crush on, but he still teased him solemnly: “Do you owe him money? You’re hiding like a quail just at the sight of him.”
Pei Yutai: “…”
He glared at Shen Xu.
Director Tu introduced: “Jiang Yi is the lucky guest chosen by the program’s official lottery. Everyone, please welcome him.”
Jiang Yi bowed again. “Thank you. I am honored.”
Director Tu smiled, his gossip-loving heart ignited. “Student Jiang Yi, do you have any favorite stars?”
Jiang Yi paused for half a second, then nodded, his smiling gaze circling around the guests.
Hearing this question, Pei Yutai moved out from behind Lin Yizhou bit by bit, as if afraid someone might not see him.
He slowly looked up and met Jiang Yi’s gaze. He relaxed his shoulders somewhat unnaturally but didn’t look away. Instead, he stood up straight.
It was as if he were saying: Pick me, pick me.
To his surprise, the other’s gaze only lingered on him for a moment before finally landing on Shen Xu. His tone rose slightly: “I think Brother Xu is a very worthy role model to learn from.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Xu raised an eyebrow and looked meaningfully at Pei Yutai. The latter was glaring at him before shrinking back behind Lin Yizhou again. Shen Xu couldn’t help but ask, “What exactly are you feeling guilty about?”
Pei Yutai froze. Guilty about what?
Right, what was he guilty about?
Their conversation that night shouldn’t have been broadcast yet. Director Tu said those segments wouldn’t air until after the filming was finished. Besides, even if it did air, he had asked the production team to help edit it out…
With that in mind, he shrugged and said smugly, “I’m not guilty. I just want to be closer to Brother Zhou.”
Come on then, let’s hurt each other.
Shen Xu looked at him, his eyes narrowing dangerously, as if saying: Oh, you want to play it like that?
Pei Yutai instantly lost his nerve. He stood up straight and obediently stepped out from behind Lin Yizhou to stand a bit further away.
Director Tu: “In that case, I assume you want to join Captain Lin Yizhou’s team.”
Jiang Yi nodded. “Yes.”
“Then let’s see if fate is on your side later,” Director Tu said, turning back to the guests. “Next, let us welcome our next lucky guest.”
Just as he finished speaking, the thrumming sound of helicopter rotors could be heard coming from somewhere.
The guests looked around curiously. Only Lin Yizhou and Shen Xu immediately locked onto the direction the helicopter was coming from.
Whoa, what was that sound? A helicopter? Who is the next lucky guest? This show of wealth is impressive!
For some reason, with such a high-profile entrance, I have a very bad feeling…
[ (Praying) (Chanting) (Worshipping the Heavens) Please don’t let it be Song Chizheng. I really don’t want to see that scumbag’s face…]
If it really is Song Chizheng, I feel like it’ll be even more exciting. I love some drama/shura fields!!!
The buzzing grew louder as the helicopter approached. Before long, it hovered over the production site. The wind kicked up by the rotors sent everyone’s hair and clothes flying; everyone instinctively covered their ears.
A rope ladder was lowered from the helicopter, swaying in front of the guests. Several guests looked up in curiosity.
Lin Yizhou covered his ears, his gaze wandering aimlessly as if he had zero interest in who the guest was.
Shen Xu glanced at the arriving helicopter, then turned his gaze to Lin Yizhou.
Judging by the change in Lin Yizhou’s expression just now, he was ninety percent certain the person on the helicopter was Song Chizheng.
Reality soon validated his guess.
A person quickly jumped down from the ladder, landing steadily on both feet. He wore a black summer athletic set, with the muscle lines of his arms and calves exposed, radiating a strong sense of pheromones.
It was indeed Song Chizheng.
When the cameraman shoved the lens in front of his face, the live stream chat exploded. Countless comments flew across the screen.
Holy crap! It really is the Ex-Husband! This entrance… is he here to intimidate anyone who has designs on Lin Yizhou? Only he could pull off this kind of stunt.
What does this have to do with Lin Yizhou? He already announced his boyfriend is Jiang Siyuan. Stop trying to ship them!
The Ex-Husband is so handsome! Drools! Vase, look for yourself at what a top-tier husband you lost!
Shouldn’t you say, besides his face, where does the Vase even deserve Song Chizheng?
Help, this is destined to be a shura field! But it’s exactly what I wanted, hehe!
I’m betting the Ex-Husband is here to chase his wife back! My Chi-Zhou CP is all about a broken mirror being mended!
Outside the screen, in the lounge area of Eternal Star Entertainment, Cui Sula had just finished her morning meeting. She came to the lounge to make herself a cup of coffee, thinking she’d take a break by watching her boss’s variety show. Little did she expect that as soon as she opened it, she’d see Song Chizheng’s face.
She literally spat out her coffee.
Xiao Jiang, who was sitting on the sofa, jumped up, intending to find Sister Sula immediately. But as he turned around, he found her right behind him, coffee stains still on the corners of her mouth.
Xiao Jiang quickly pulled out a few tissues to wipe her mouth, asking with concern, “What’s wrong, Sister Sula? Was the coffee too hot? Did you burn your mouth? Should we go to the hospital?”
Cui Sula stared blankly as she took the tissues from him, wiped the other side of her lips, and glared unkindly at the face on the screen. She asked without context, “Xiao Jiang, do you know why Song Chizheng is alive?”
Xiao Jiang looked at the person on the screen in confusion and shook his head, telling the truth: “I don’t know.”
Cui Sula tossed the tissue into a nearby trash can and said irritably, “To increase my workload.”
She didn’t stay long, leaving the lounge with her coffee.
Xiao Jiang understood a moment later. He poked the face on the screen and said resentfully, “Not only that, you’re also polluting the air!”
In the show, having safely reached the destination, the helicopter flew away, and the roar of the engines gradually faded.
Song Chizheng had a shallow smile on his face as he waved to the guests. His scanning gaze paused on Lin Yizhou for a second before quickly shifting to Jiang Siyuan.
When their eyes met, Jiang Siyuan’s lips curled. Disregarding everyone else’s gaze and the fact that they were live, he immediately ran over and threw himself into Song Chizheng’s arms. He wrapped his arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. His expression was slightly complex, but mostly filled with surprise: “Why are you here?”
Song Chizheng supported his waist with one hand, pulling him closer, and used the other to pet his head dotingly. “Thinking of you is the first reason; wanting to go on an adventure with you is the second.”
By then, the noise from the helicopter was barely audible. Every word he said was heard clearly by everyone present.
Pei Yutai’s internal monologue: So jealous. If only I could welcome Jiang Yi like that…
He looked toward Jiang Yi, only to find the other looking at him too. He quickly looked away again like a thief.
Shen Xu’s internal monologue: Heh.
Nan Qiguang’s internal monologue: If only he could be that intimate with Lin Yizhou! He really wants to show off his love with the person he likes!
Lin Yizhou’s internal monologue: Not a single ripple.
Wen Yue & Xiang He’s internal monologue: Wow! It feels like we can ship this CP from the front row! And it’s real!
Everyone else’s internal monologue: Sigh, just swallow this bowl of dog food (public display of affection).
Time seemed to freeze for a few seconds.
Director Tu cleared his throat into the megaphone, breaking the awkward and subtle atmosphere.
Song Chizheng kissed Jiang Siyuan’s forehead and said tenderly, “I’ll be here for the next ten days. For now, let’s follow the procedure, okay?”
Jiang Siyuan nodded and walked back to where he had been standing.
Director Tu looked at Song Chizheng standing beside him and said, “Mr. Song Chizheng is also our lucky guest. Please introduce yourself.”
Song Chizheng bowed slightly to everyone. “Hello everyone, I am Song Chizheng, Jiang Siyuan’s boyfriend. Very happy to meet you all.”
Jiang Siyuan glanced at Lin Yizhou, but the latter had no reaction whatsoever.
Director Tu originally intended to ask him which team he wanted to join, but seeing the joyful Jiang Siyuan, he decided not to ask for more “dog food.” He changed the subject: “Alright, now let us welcome our final guest.”
“Our final guest is a professional wilderness adventure expert. Everyone can call him Teacher Cheng. Teacher Cheng has six years of wilderness survival experience…”
Amidst Director Tu’s solemn introduction, Teacher Cheng walked out from behind the crowd and raised a hand to greet everyone.
The guests applauded in welcome.
Once Teacher Cheng’s impressive life story was introduced, Director Tu let him rest to the side.
Director Tu: “Before we officially begin our survival adventure, the new guests need to play a warm-up game to earn the right to choose their teams first.”
“As for the competition, it will be a hundred-meter swim back and forth. Whoever returns to shore first wins the chance to pick their team first.”
The guests looked in the direction Director Tu was pointing. The production team had already cordoned off a section of the sea, and two lifeguards were waving to them from the water.
Jiang Yi looked at Jiang Siyuan walking toward Song Chizheng, then lifted his eyes to look at Pei Yutai. As soon as he touched his gaze, the other moved his eyes away instantly as always. He let out a soft sigh and called out: “Pei Yutai.”
