After Dumping the Scumbag Top, I Was Relentlessly Chased by a Top-Tier Idol - Chapter 28
Seeing the person suddenly appearing before him, Shen Xu froze for a second before quickly snapping to: “Captain? What are you doing here?”
Lin Yizhou’s expression remained calm. “I spoke with the director. You were injured because of me, so I should take responsibility. I’ll be staying with you tonight.”
A spark of brightness flashed in the depths of Shen Xu’s eyes. Suppressing his excitement, he glanced at Pei Yutai behind him, the meaning on his face crystal clear.
Understanding the cue, Pei Yutai wrapped his small blanket tightly around himself, shrunk his neck, and began waddling out. As he passed Lin Yizhou, he said lazily, “Goodnight, Captain. Make sure to dream of me.”
Lin Yizhou nodded to him. “Goodnight.”
Suddenly remembering something, he called out to Pei Yutai: “Oh, right. Brother Jiang and I just played a game. He lost, so I tied him up. Remember to let him loose when you get there.”
Pei Yutai didn’t think much of it; he gave a compliant hum and left the tent.
Lin Yizhou turned back, only to find Shen Xu staring at him intently.
He looked down at himself, found nothing amiss, and looked up with a hint of confusion. “What is it?”
Shen Xu gave a slight shrug, asking no further questions. He simply said, “Captain, you should change out of those wet clothes quickly so you don’t catch a cold.”
Lin Yizhou nodded, took his clothes to the side, and turned his back to Shen Xu to change.
Standing in place, Shen Xu watched the silhouette cast against the surface of the tent.
The T-shirt was removed swiftly. Although the hanging lamp at the peak of the tent flickered slightly, it still clearly outlined the curves of Lin Yizhou’s body.
A narrow waist and long legs—his physique was excellent.
But… he’s a bit too thin, Shen Xu thought.
Just as Lin Yizhou finished dressing and was about to turn around, a slight weight settled on his shoulders. A wave of warmth enveloped him. He tilted his head to see Shen Xu draping a blanket over him.
Before he could refuse, Shen Xu preemptively changed the subject: “Captain, I can’t undo my shirt buttons with one hand. Could you help me?”
Lin Yizhou looked at the arm held in the sling and nodded in agreement.
The shirt buttons were undone one by one. Shen Xu’s gaze remained fixed on the man in front of him, trying to discern something from his expression. However, the man remained entirely unfazed as he finished unbuttoning the shirt.
Shen Xu felt a twinge of doubt. If he remembered correctly, hadn’t Lin Yizhou once said he liked looking at abs?
That was from a small interview shortly after Lin Yizhou’s debut.
Host: “Teacher Lin, how do you feel about the fact that your fans are trending because they’re clamoring to see your abs?”
Lin Yizhou (with a faint smile): “It’s normal to love looking at abs. People have a great interest in appreciating beautiful things, and I’m no exception. As for whether you’ll see them, that depends on the timing.”
Heaven knows, Shen Xu hadn’t been fond of working out before. But after seeing that interview, he had become unstoppable, hitting the gym every single day without fail. He had trained himself into the type everyone loved: slim in clothes, but muscular underneath.
He had an eight-pack now!
“Lower your head a bit.”
Shen Xu was pulled back from his thoughts by the voice. The man before him was still looking at him with a neutral gaze, hands holding the sling strap behind his neck.
The sling supporting his arm wasn’t tied at the back of the neck; it was looped over. To remove it, it had to go over the top of his head.
While Lin Yizhou was tall enough to remove it, their height difference was minimal—Shen Xu was only about half a head taller. If Shen Xu stood straight without bowing his head, Lin Yizhou would have to pull the strap quite high, which would inevitably tug on the injured arm.
Obediently, Shen Xu lowered his head.
Lin Yizhou carefully supported his arm while removing the strap. Once the binding was gone, he gingerly lowered the arm back down, every movement incredibly gentle.
He picked up the clean clothes sitting nearby and, with slow, deliberate motions, guided the injured arm into the sleeve before pulling the garment over Shen Xu’s head.
Following his lead, Shen Xu kept his head submissively lowered.
“Hiss!”
Shen Xu suddenly sucked in a sharp breath.
Lin Yizhou froze and asked hurriedly, “What’s wrong? Did I pull the wound?”
“No… it’s just that your hands are so cold, Captain.” Shen Xu’s body was naturally warm. Just now, Lin Yizhou’s fingertips had accidentally brushed against his skin. The shock of icy fingers against warm skin was so sudden he couldn’t help but make a sound.
He reached out his hand and looked at the man. “Captain, give me your hands. I’ll warm them for you?”
“No need,” Lin Yizhou stepped back. “I’ll do it myself.”
With that, he quickly rubbed his hands together to generate heat.
After a moment, feeling they were ready, he placed his fingertips against Shen Xu’s abdomen. He slowly looked up and asked softly, “Still cold?”
To be precise, his hand was placed right on the abs.
His pinky finger just happened to land right in a groove of the abdominal muscles…
Shen Xu’s lower abdomen suddenly tightened, and he took a sharp breath.
He looked down to see a questioning look in the other man’s eyes. Those pure black eyes, even when filled with warm light, remained ripples-less—appearing innocent and harmless.
Looking at him like this, it felt as though anyone who questioned his intentions would be the one in the wrong.
Seeing this reaction, Lin Yizhou assumed he was still being chilled. He withdrew his hand and silently resumed rubbing his own palms together.
After another moment, he stopped. But this time, he didn’t put his hand on Shen Xu’s abs. Instead, he pressed his fingertips against his own cheek to test the temperature.
Watching this, Shen Xu’s heart began to race uncontrollably.
So, was Lin Yizhou intentionally touching my abs just now? Was he teasing me?
Otherwise, why didn’t he think to test the temperature on his own cheek the first time?!
He definitely did it on purpose!
Before he could finish his internal wailing, Lin Yizhou was already moving to help him tidy his clothes. This time, his movements were light and fast, and the shirt was soon adjusted.
Shen Xu felt a sudden daze, a lingering sense that from the moment those icy fingertips touched him, it had all been calculated.
Feeling those warm hands move toward his waistband, Shen Xu jolted and took a quick step back. “I’ll handle the pants myself.”
He didn’t know if Lin Yizhou’s provocation was intentional or accidental; he only knew he couldn’t handle even a shred more of it.
If it were anyone else, he could remain indifferent. But not Lin Yizhou.
He wasn’t a ninja, nor was he a saint. He was a normal man in every respect, and it was impossible to remain unmoved by the person he loved.
“Can you do it alone?” Lin Yizhou looked at him, still worried, and reached out to help. “Let me help you.”
As it happened, his hand was caught mid-air by Shen Xu.
Shen Xu pulled the man directly in front of him and leaned down to whisper in his ear, his voice thick with restraint: “Captain, do you think I’m a child? Let me tell you: I’m twenty years old, full of youthful vigor and hot blood.”
“More importantly, I like you—the kind of liking where I want to possess both your heart and your body.” His voice grew deeper, until the end was almost a whispered tremor. “I don’t know if you’re doing this on purpose, but I’m already having a reaction. If you get any closer, I won’t be able to control the fire. Are you going to help me put it out then? Hmm?”
Every word radiated a scorching heat.
Lin Yizhou was stunned for a moment. His mind involuntarily flashed back to the way he had once unsuccessfully sought affection from Song Chizheng. He knew that kind of unbearable frustration. Hearing Shen Xu’s words, he stepped back half a pace and turned his body away, though he still kept a clandestine watch out of the corner of his eye in case help was needed.
Shen Xu grit his teeth, took a deep, sharp breath, and quickly changed his pants. He muttered lowly, “I’m done.”
Lin Yizhou turned back and said, “It’s late. Let’s… rest.”
His voice trailed off slightly as he realized the production team had provided a bed here. But the logic quickly clicked.
Perhaps the crew had considered that Shen Xu’s hand would make it difficult to crawl into a sleeping bag.
He said naturally, “Do you want to sleep on the inside or should I?”
Shen Xu equally naturally gestured with his left hand. “I’ll sleep on the outside.”
Lin Yizhou nodded and climbed onto the bed first.
Before lying down, Lin Yizhou thought of something and reminded him: “I haven’t… I have almost no experience sleeping with someone else. I don’t know how my sleeping habits are. If I get in your way, just wake me up.”
After speaking, he lay on his side facing the tent wall, his eyes staring at the surface of the tent vibrating under the pounding rain.
Before this, the only person he had shared a bed with was Song Chizheng. But as he spoke those words, he realized in hindsight that although they had been together for two years, he couldn’t even remember if they had ever actually shared a bed.
He had once dreamed of a life where he’d wake up to see the sunlight and his lover.
After being with Song Chizheng, he thought he would have that life. But in his memory, his first sight in the morning was more often the empty, cold other half of the sheets, or a sunlit but devastatingly quiet living room.
So, he truly didn’t know how he slept. No one had ever given him feedback.
“You’re very well-behaved.”
A voice rose lazily from behind him. Lin Yizhou’s body stiffened slightly. He turned around slowly, his face full of confusion.
Seeing his doubt, the corners of Shen Xu’s lips curled into a brilliant smile. “Last night when you fell asleep on the beach, you stayed in almost the same position the whole time. You’re… very well-behaved when you sleep.”
So well-behaved that your hand was held all night and you never noticed.
Lin Yizhou gave a slight nod. “As long as I don’t get in your way. Get some rest.”
Shen Xu didn’t say more. He lifted the blanket and lay down beside him.
Lying on his side, his affectionate gaze lingered on the back of the man before him, his face glowing with happiness.
Having chased Lin Yizhou’s footsteps for so many years, he had fantasized about a scene like this. But now that it was actually happening, it all felt surreal. He reached out his hand, wanting to touch him—to feel his warmth, to feel his existence—but ultimately, he withdrew it.
Being by his side at this moment was enough. One must not be too hasty.
He rolled over, straightened his body, and closed his eyes. Outside, the rain drummed steadily. Having not slept at all the night before, a wave of exhaustion surged over him, and he soon drifted into a deep sleep.
