After Dumping the Scumbag Top, I Was Relentlessly Chased by a Top-Tier Idol - Chapter 20.2
In high spirits, Pei Yutai didn’t notice anything amiss with Shen Xu. He gave a crisp salute and happily ran off to wake Jiang Siyuan and Wen Yue for breakfast.
Watching the group huddle around the fire eating meat in harmony, the viewers in the livestream were stunned:
Did Lin Yizhou cast a spell on Pei Yutai? Yesterday they looked like lifelong enemies, and today Lin Yizhou is his ‘god’…?
Where did the coconuts come from anyway?? Is Lin Yizhou some kind of transmigrated character with a hidden system?
Hahaha, the person above, have you been reading too many web novels?
Look at the eyes of the other team’s members. They’re about to cry from envy.
By the time they finished their hearty breakfast, the sun was high and the sea breeze was turning humid.
After a brief rest, Lin Yizhou checked the time and addressed the group: “Is everyone rested up?”
Pei Yutai gave a thumbs up, his voice booming: “I’m full of energy now!”
The others signaled their readiness as well. Lin Yizhou looked at Shen Xu, frowning slightly: “You didn’t sleep last night. Do you want to rest for a bit?”
Shen Xu knew what he was going to say the moment their eyes met, but he didn’t interrupt. He waited for him to finish before saying, “No need, I’m fine.”
“Then tell me when you feel tired, and we’ll find a place for you to rest,” Lin Yizhou urged.
Shen Xu nodded with a smile: “Okay.”
“I’ll announce the plan for the day,” Lin Yizhou looked at his teammates. “Shen Xu, Yutai, and I will go into the woods to find a place to camp. Jiang Siyuan and Sister Yue will go look for food.”
Everyone agreed except Jiang Siyuan, who raised an objection: “Captain, I can’t swim. Can I swap with someone?”
Before Lin Yizhou could answer, Shen Xu raised his eyes, which were filled with a cold smile: “You’re just picking up seafood along the shore and rocks, not diving into the deep sea. You don’t need to know how to swim. Mr. Jiang, you should remember to listen more carefully next time.”
Jiang Siyuan wasn’t actually afraid of the sea; he just wanted an excuse to be in Lin Yizhou’s group. To avoid making his motive too obvious, he didn’t insist further. Shrugging his shoulders, he drawled, “Fine then.”
The five split into two teams. Just as Lin Yizhou’s trio was about to enter the jungle, a voice called out from behind.
“Captain Lin.”
The three turned to see Nan Qiguang walking over with the blue-haired singer and the non-celebrity guest in glasses. Nan Qiguang smiled brightly: “Captain Lin, I have a proposal. If either of our teams finds a better campsite, let’s notify the other. If we live close by, we can look out for one another. What do you think?”
Shen Xu watched him with crossed arms, a thousand refusals at the tip of his tongue. He saw right through Nan Qiguang’s intentions, but he kept his mouth shut, leaving the decision to Lin Yizhou.
As he expected, Lin Yizhou nodded in agreement: “We’ll mark the paths we take. Once someone finds a spot, we can ask the cameramen to pass the message through the director.”
The six members of the two teams entered the woods together before parting ways toward different directions.
Lin Yizhou led his team deep into the forest, marking the trail as they went. After climbing a small slope, they were blocked by a thicket of head-high plants.
Before Lin Yizhou could lead the way, Shen Xu and Pei Yutai stepped forward to push the foliage aside and crawl through. Lin Yizhou finished his marking and followed. Before he even cleared the brush, he heard Pei Yutai let out a joyful cheer.
As Lin Yizhou stepped out, Pei Yutai rushed to him: “Captain, isn’t this place perfect for camping?”
Lin Yizhou nodded in approval. The ground here was open and flat, the trees weren’t too dense, and the visibility was excellent. Being on the leeward slope, it was well-protected from rain and other elements.
“We’ll set up camp here,” he said, then looked at the cameraman. “Please notify Captain Nan Qiguang.”
Pei Yutai’s excitement soon faded into a pout as he looked at Lin Yizhou: “Captain, we have a good spot, but we don’t have materials to build tents or anything.”
Lin Yizhou scanned the surroundings: “We’ll split up to find materials. Bring back useful wood, roots, and branches/leaves that can be used for a lean-to. They might come in handy.”
While Lin Yizhou was returning with a few large logs, he saw that Nan Qiguang’s team had already arrived and was studying how to build a shelter.
Before he could look away, Nan Qiguang turned his head and saw him. He dropped what he was holding and ran over, pulling a wild orange from his pocket. “This is for you. It’s very juicy and good for thirst. It’s a little bit sour, but just a little.” He made a small gesture with his fingers.
As he spoke, Nan Qiguang looked up and saw Shen Xu standing behind Lin Yizhou, and he shot a casual glance his way.
Shen Xu watched the two figures, unconsciously snapping the branch in his hand before walking over. He reached out and took the logs from Lin Yizhou’s arms: “Captain, give these to me. I’ll take them over for you.”
Lin Yizhou paused, then let go once he saw it was Shen Xu: “Thanks.”
Shen Xu said nothing, simply carrying the wood away. Nan Qiguang watched his back with satisfaction before handing the orange to Lin Yizhou again.
Lin Yizhou declined once more: “No need, keep it for your teammates.”
This time, Nan Qiguang shoved the orange directly into his hand: “My teammates already ate. I saved some for those who haven’t returned yet, too. There were only six in total.”
Frowning slightly, Lin Yizhou stopped the back-and-forth and thanked him. He walked over to Shen Xu and held the orange out: “Do you want some?”
“You eat it, Captain.” Shen Xu shook his head, leaning in slightly to whisper: “If I get any more ‘sour,’ I might turn into aged vinegar.”
Lin Yizhou:
He walked straight toward the just-returned Pei Yutai.
Top floor office, Song Corporation Tower.
Song Chizheng narrowed his eyes at the screen, muttering: “Lin Yizhou, how did I never notice you were such a social butterfly?”
A knock sounded at the door. Song Chizheng snapped back to reality: “Come in.”
The Chief Secretary entered and placed a document on the desk: “President Song, this is the proposal returned by the Bai Group. Their exact words were: ‘Stop wasting your effort. This project will never be given to you, no matter what.'”
Song Chizheng massaged his brow and waved the secretary out. He looked up at Lin Yizhou’s face on the screen and, without hesitation, switched the feed to Jiang Siyuan.
On screen, Jiang Siyuan was chatting with Wen Yue. He wasn’t doing anything special, but every smile seemed to tug at the heartstrings; he was so beautiful it was hard to look away.
Song Chizheng thought this would soothe his irritation, but it didn’t. His inexplicable frustration only grew. His mind kept flashing back to Lin Yizhou’s face—the face that used to always be filled with smiles for him.
After a moment of hesitation, he reached for the mouse and switched back to Lin Yizhou’s feed. Looking at that cold, “keep away” expression on the screen, his furrowed brow finally began to relax.
Yes, that face was always like this toward others. Only with him was it an exception.
But soon—
On screen, Lin Yizhou gave a faint smile to Pei Yutai, who was offering him half an orange. It wasn’t a wide grin, just a slight curve of the lips, yet it was unexpectedly captivating.
Song Chizheng blinked in disbelief.
Lin Yizhou was still smiling.
He smiled at someone else?
Thinking back, since the show started, Lin Yizhou seemed to have smiled quite a bit, intentionally or otherwise.
So, all that coldness toward others in the past was just an act for his benefit?
Then… when he said “I have Yongxing now and don’t care about you,” it wasn’t just to make him angry… it was real. He had already hooked up with Yongxing behind his back!
His grip on the mouse tightened. His eyes narrowed, radiating a dangerous aura.
How dare he…
Logically, he shouldn’t care if a “stand-in” had lied to him, especially since his own motives for approaching the man weren’t pure. But he didn’t know why he was so angry—so angry that he felt he had to do something to vent.
Anyone who dared to deceive him deserved to be punished.
Taking a deep breath, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
