After Divorcing the Scummy Alpha Movie Queen, I Became Extremely Popular - Chapter 45
Save My Lover
Sun Hua pointed the dark muzzle of the gun toward Luo Jingyun and Chen Shidong, urging, “Stop dawdling and choose already.”
The massive warehouse suddenly fell silent; no one else had expected things to escalate to this point.
Luo Jingyun showed no trace of fear as she stepped forward to shield Chen Shidong. “Sun Hua, it was my idea to fire Sun Kexin from the production. I’m the one responsible, and it has nothing to do with Chen Shidong. You pushed Sun Kexin into the entertainment industry just to make money, didn’t you? My mothers have already given you enough money. If you let us go now, we’ll act as if this never happened. You can take the money abroad and live however extravagantly you want.”
Provoked by such defiance from a junior, Sun Hua warned angrily, “Shut up! You have no say here! So now you know you were wrong? Why didn’t you say that when you were driving others into a dead end?”
Chen Shidong tried to use the sound of her voice to drown out the noise of her rubbing against the ropes. she countered loudly, “How is being fired from a film crew a ‘dead end’? If you keep making mistake after mistake like this, you’re the one truly heading for a dead end.”
“All of you, shut up!” Sun Hua urged, “You, Tan Jizhu, hurry up and choose!”
Tan Jizhu did not hesitate for a second. Ignoring Liu Yuqi’s previous instructions, she followed the truest feelings in her heart and shouted, “I choose Luo Jingyun! Let her go, now!”
“You chose Luo Jingyun? It seems my observations over the past few days weren’t wrong; you still have lingering feelings for her,” Sun Hua sneered. “But I only said you had to choose; I never said I would definitely release the person you picked.” With that, Sun Hua aimed the gun at Luo Jingyun.
Tan Jizhu’s eyes nearly split with rage. “Sun Hua, I told you to let them go!” She picked up a small stone by her feet and, at the very moment Sun Hua fired, hurled it at his wrist.
The bullet veered off course, striking the wall.
“How dare you try to hurt Luo Jingyun! I’ll kill you!” Tan Jizhu rushed forward with lightning speed, lunging at Sun Hua and pinning him to the ground, slamming her fists into his face one after another.
“Li Deng, what are you doing? Come and stop your daughter!” Sun Hua shouted at the man standing dazed on the other side, blood flowing from his nose and mouth. “Do you still want the money or not!”
Realizing what was happening, Li Deng ran over and kicked Tan Jizhu hard, knocking her off Sun Hua.
“And you!” Tan Jizhu’s rage toward Li Deng was even greater. She immediately shifted her focus and began to strike Li Deng.
Luo Jingyun looked at Chen Shidong in a panic. “Sister Shidong, what… what should we do?”
The scene had suddenly descended into chaos, but Chen Shidong remained calm. She said, “Jingyun, wait a moment. I’m almost through the rope.”
Sun Hua staggered to his feet, his blood-stained face making him look even more sinister. He picked up the gun from the floor and tried to aim in Tan Jizhu’s direction. Noticing Sun Hua’s intent, Luo Jingyun ignored the ropes on her hands and feet and threw her entire body weight at him. The bullet missed its mark once again.
The sound brought a glimmer of sanity back to Tan Jizhu. Looking back, she realized the most important thing was the safety of the hostages.
Chen Shidong also reminded her, “Jizhu, hurry and untie us!”
Tan Jizhu kicked the gun away and rushed to Luo Jingyun’s side to help her with the ropes. “Jingyun, don’t worry, we’ll definitely be okay.”
Chen Shidong had anticipated this. Fortunately, her ropes were nearly worn through, and she would be free in a moment.
“Nobody move!” The gun had somehow ended up in Li Deng’s hand, suddenly giving him the power of life and death. “Tan Jizhu, bring that bag of money over here right now!”
The bag of money happened to be right next to Tan Jizhu. She looked at the bag, then looked up at Li Deng. “Li Deng, don’t keep making these mistakes!”
“Enough! Give me the money now, or I’ll be forced to be hard on you!” To threaten her, Li Deng fired a shot into the ground.
“Ah!”
The shot landed right by Luo Jingyun’s foot. It didn’t hurt her, but it made her cry out in shock.
Tan Jizhu, already furious, was pushed over the edge. She walked toward Li Deng, attempting to snatch the gun from his hand.
“Li Deng, if you dare hurt Jingyun, I will never let you off!”
“Tan Jizhu, give me the money!” Li Deng only wanted the money; that shot had just been for show. As Tan Jizhu walked toward him aggressively, the hand holding the gun began to tremble.
Bang! Another gunshot rang out.
Li Deng couldn’t believe it. In his nervous state, he had fired again, and he had hit Tan Jizhu.
Tan Jizhu looked at her bleeding shoulder. Her first thought wasn’t the pain, but that Li Deng was a threat to Luo Jingyun. She kicked Li Deng over and used her uninjured hand to pummel him repeatedly.
“Jizhu!” The rope around Luo Jingyun’s wrists was almost undone; with a bit of a struggle, she broke free completely. She hurriedly untied the ropes on her feet and ran to Tan Jizhu’s side. “Jizhu, stop! You’re bleeding!”
Releasing soothing coconut-scented pheromones, Luo Jingyun held Tan Jizhu back from behind. “Jizhu, he’s almost dead. Stop hitting him!”
Tan Jizhu calmed down. She looked back at Luo Jingyun. The spirit and strength that had been sustained by adrenaline now ebbed away like a tide, and she collapsed directly onto Luo Jingyun. “Jingyun, I’m so glad you’re okay.”
Chen Shidong had also just finished rubbing through her ropes. She looked at the two of them being affectionate. “Alright, alright, now is not the time for heart-to-hearts.” Relying on her experience filming action scenes, Chen Shidong quickly ejected the magazine from the handgun and threw the gun and the magazine to different spots.
She then quickly picked up the rope and tied the two men up. Once she was sure they were no longer a threat, she ran over to check on them. “Jingyun, how is Jizhu?”
“I don’t know,” Luo Jingyun’s tears overflowed. She didn’t dare move too much for fear of aggravating Tan Jizhu’s wound. “Jizhu is losing so much blood.”
“Jingyun, I’m just glad you’re safe.” Tan Jizhu struggled to raise her hand to wipe the tears from Luo Jingyun’s face. “Don’t cry.”
“Tan Jizhu, stop talking. We’re taking you to the hospital right now. You’re going to be fine.”
Tan Jizhu used her last bit of strength to pull Luo Jingyun into a hug, kissing the lips she had always longed for. “At least… you are safe.”
“Jizhu! Tan Jizhu, wake up!”
The environment became noisy. Ambulances and police cars arrived one after another; it was Liu Yuqi who had arrived with the police and doctors.
“Shidong, how are you? Are you hurt?” Liu Yuqi rushed into the warehouse, going straight to Chen Shidong to check her condition. “Why is there blood on the floor? Are you injured?”
Chen Shidong quickly explained the situation. “Jingyun and I are fine. The one injured is Jizhu. This is her blood. Get a doctor over here to stop the bleeding immediately.”
The police quickly assessed the scene and took Sun Hua and Li Deng into custody. The doctors rushed to place Tan Jizhu on a stretcher. Seeing blood on Luo Jingyun as well, but noting she seemed coherent, a doctor asked, “Ma’am, are you injured?”
“I’m not hurt,” she grabbed the doctor’s sleeve. “That person… she’s my… she’s, my wife. Please let me go to the hospital with her.”
The doctor shook his head. “I’m sorry, ma’am, we need to perform emergency treatment on her in the ambulance. You’ll have to take the other ambulance.”
“Let me on! You have to save my lover! She is my love! Tan Jizhu! Tan Jizhu!”
…
Tan Jizhu slowly woke up to a world of pure white. The machines beside her beeped steadily, signaling that her body was out of danger. Her last memory was being carried into the ambulance while Luo Jingyun screamed her name heart-wrenchingly.
“Jingyun! Ah!” Tan Jizhu tried to prop herself up, but the pain in her shoulder made it impossible to find any strength.
The door opened and Jiang Xian walked in. Seeing Tan Jizhu’s struggling movements, she hurried over to help her. “Oh dear, you just woke up and your wound hasn’t healed. Don’t move around.”
“Auntie Jiang? Where’s Jingyun? Is she okay?”
Jiang Xian replied, “Jingyun is mostly fine. She took a hit to the head during the kidnapping and has a slight concussion; she feels a bit nauseous now and then. Her mother is taking care of her right now, so don’t worry.”
Tan Jizhu apologized, “Auntie, I’m sorry. This is all my fault.”
“We aren’t the type to blame the innocent by association. This was the fault of Li Deng and Sun Hua,” Jiang Xian explained. “We haven’t told your mother about the shooting yet. Since you were hurt because of your Alpha father, it’s better not to break this terrible news to her.”
“Thank you, Auntie.”
“It’s fine.”
Tan Jizhu lowered her head. “Auntie, I know I have no right to ask anything of you, but I would like to request two things.”
Jiang Xian had handled many negotiations and dealt with this situation with ease. “Tell me what those requests are first.”
“The first request: although Li Deng is biologically related to me, I hope the punishment for him and Sun Hua can be increased.”
“Fine, I can promise you that.” Jiang Xian shrugged. “Actually, even if you hadn’t mentioned it, we would have taken action. Sun Hua and Li Deng will never leave prison.”
Under current laws, a life sentence doesn’t necessarily mean staying in prison forever—it usually means twenty years at most. There was only one reason Jiang Xian would say such a thing.
Jiang Xian said calmly, “Actually, this isn’t just my and Qiu-Qiu’s intention; Jingyun feels the same way. Before, I thought Jingyun’s personality lacked a certain ruthlessness. But looking at her now, she really is our child; she can make the right decision at critical moments. Jizhu, do you think we are being too heartless? After all, if this is carried out, our whole family could be considered your ‘father’s killers’.”
Tan Jizhu shook her head. “No, I think Jingyun’s decision is absolutely correct. People like that are a waste of social resources; it’s better they die sooner. I only blame myself for not using my connections to do this last time, otherwise, Jingyun wouldn’t have suffered like this.”
Hearing this, Jiang Xian looked Tan Jizhu up and down, a corner of her mouth curling up. She continued, “Good. And what is your second request?”
“The second request… I don’t want to divorce Jingyun.” Tan Jizhu remembered that when she was being lifted into the ambulance, Luo Jingyun had called her ‘wife’ and ‘love’.
Jiang Xian raised an eyebrow, not saying anything too harsh, but replying honestly, “We actually asked Jingyun that same question, but she didn’t give us a definite answer.”
Tan Jizhu confessed what she knew. “Auntie, I accidentally overheard a phone call between Park Soo-ah and you two before. I know you and Auntie Lu must feel that I’ve caused Jingyun a lot of pain, and I admit I was a jerk for those five years. I’ve realized my mistakes now. From now on, I will devote myself entirely to being good to Jingyun. I will beg her for another chance, and I hope you two can give me another chance as well, and not make Jingyun divorce me.”
Jiang Xian smiled. “Qiu-Qiu and I indeed hoped Jingyun would divorce you and find someone else. But having been with Jingyun for so long, you know her personality. She looks very obedient, but she’s actually quite rebellious. If Jingyun really listened to us, you two never would have gotten married three years ago.”
“So, what happens between you two next depends on Jingyun’s own decision.” Jiang Xian tucked the blanket around Tan Jizhu. “Get some more rest.”
At this moment, Tan Jizhu had no desire to rest. She desperately wanted to see Luo Jingyun. She wanted to know Luo Jingyun’s answer, and she wanted to know what would happen in her future.
