After Dating the President O, I Turned Into a Puppy-Like Lover - Chapter 51
The two-day volunteer activity organized by Qingyu High School came to an end, seamlessly transitioning into the skills assessment scheduled for the following week.
The ABO Knowledge Test, conducted during the second semester of the sophomore year, mainly evaluates practical, everyday knowledge. The difficulty level is not high, but all students must reach the passing line in order to receive their graduation certificate.
Dongcheng has six fully equipped examination halls. Qingyu High School was assigned to the Qingshan Hall, one of only two halls located in the suburbs. Nestled at the foot of rolling mountains, the scenery is picturesque, and the grounds cover nearly the size of two football fields.
In addition to the ABO knowledge test, a professional medical team conducts physical examinations. Professors from AO universities also deliver lectures, and for a small number of outstanding AO students with excellent grades, recommendations to top-tier domestic universities may be offered.
By early Tuesday morning, the area outside the school was already jammed with vehicles.
Many students treated this skills assessment like a spring outing. Back during winter break, they had already been discussing the next semester’s holidays, naturally including the assessment as part of their so-called “vacation.”
For them, this exam lacked the urgency of the college entrance exam. It was nothing more than the ABO basics that parents and teachers had emphasized since kindergarten, knowledge written in countless physiology books and repeated in lectures. As long as one possessed basic self-care abilities, there was little chance of failing.
The facilities at the hall were particularly complete, including a small gymnasium for recreation. There was even a hot spring resort just across a small hill from Qingshan Hall. With permission slips and sufficient money, students could easily slip over for leisure.
Aside from the computer-based exam on the third day, the first two days only required physical checkups and attending lectures. The rest of the time was largely free.
Around nine in the morning, Class Five of the sophomore year boarded the bus, ready to set off.
Life at the hall would not be as strict as at school. Without the supervision of student council members, some chatted while others played on their phones.
The bus cruised smoothly along the asphalt road, gradually leaving the bustling city behind as it headed toward the suburbs.
Zhou Yi sat beside Jiang He, Zhou in the aisle seat, scrolling on her phone, while Jiang leaned against the window, dozing.
The ride grew bumpy, and Jiang He was jolted awake by the driver’s sudden brake. Groggy, she opened her eyes to see a motorcycle cutting across the road without heeding the traffic light, nearly colliding with them.
After calming herself, Jiang He leaned back against the window, intending to nap again.
Beside her, Zhou Yi kept giggling like a mischievous mouse, playing videos aloud though the volume was low. Jiang He tossed and turned, unable to sleep, until she finally sat up, deciding to give up on resting.
First, she had to scold Zhou Yi.
“Can’t you use earphones?” she said irritably.
Glancing at Zhou’s phone, she caught sight of a familiar face among the crowd on the screen. Her eyes instantly sharpened, glaring at Zhou Yi.
Zhou, instead of hiding, grinned and leaned closer. “Hahaha, boss, you dance so well. Next time, don’t do it again.”
“If you’re so capable, why don’t you dance yourself?” Jiang He huffed.
“I can’t, that’s why I don’t. Hahaha. Honestly though, boss, you in a skirt.”
“Enough!” Jiang He cut her off coldly before she could finish.
Propping her chin on her elbow, she gazed out the window, her jawline forming a delicate curve.
Zhou Yi stifled her laughter, watching her. Was the boss angry? Probably not. She was surprisingly fun.
The bus slowed and came to a steady stop outside the hall.
The buildings at the foot of the mountain gleamed under the sunlight like a grand estate. The Gothic-style structure facing the gate was both the main examination site and the location for physical checkups.
By eleven o’clock, the hall’s cafeteria opened. The homeroom teacher organized everyone to store their luggage, eat lunch, and rest. After the break, students proceeded to the main building for their physicals according to class order.
When Class Five’s turn came, it was already four in the afternoon. The sun still hung high, casting warm light across the grounds.
The main building was stately and austere, with uniformed staff everywhere. The atmosphere was solemn, compelling even the most unruly students to lower their voices and tread lightly.
Physicals were conducted strictly by class, so the queues were short. Those arriving late could practically walk straight in.
Jiang He’s group was among the last. Zhou Yi shrank behind her, dreading what was to come.
“What if I’m unhealthy? What if something’s wrong?” she whispered anxiously. “What if they say I’ll regress into a beta?”
“Don’t worry,” Jiang He reassured her. “You don’t need to attend an AO university anyway. Besides, with your grades at the bottom, tsk, tsk.”
Her cryptic look made Zhou Yi instantly defensive. “What’s wrong with my grades? I haven’t even finished sophomore year yet. What if I work hard for the next year and a half and become first in the whole school?”
“Better focus on not being last first,” Jiang He replied coolly.
“I haven’t been last in ages!” Zhou Yi protested. “Last time I was third from the bottom, before that seventh, and before that sixth.”
Jiang He nodded calmly. “Oh, so you’re actually slipping backwards.”
Zhou Yi: “…”
Before she could retort, a voice called out, “Next.”
Both fell silent. Zhou Yi was supposed to go first, but she hesitated at the door.
“Boss, you go ahead!” she said with a sheepish smile.
Jiang He glanced at her, then stepped past without hesitation.
A boy exited as she entered, and the doctor’s voice rang out again: “Another one.”
Zhou Yi sighed and followed.
Both lay down on the small examination beds. The doctor drew a vial of blood from Jiang He’s gland area, passing it to an assistant, who handed it to another doctor operating the instruments.
“Close your eyes, don’t be nervous,” the doctor instructed.
A cold device pressed against her body, moving downward. Warm hands inevitably brushed against her, quick but enough to make her feel shy. Jiang He grew uneasy when the examination reached lower, but it ended swiftly.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yi was far more distressed. Her body was so tense that the instruments couldn’t detect properly, prompting the doctor to scold: “Relax, all alphas have this. If you stay stiff, I can’t continue.”
Jiang He’s cooperation allowed her to finish first.
“Sit up,” the doctor said.
Blinking against the bright light, Jiang He noticed the female doctor’s slightly surprised gaze lingering on her lower body. But it was fleeting, she quickly looked away.
At the same time, the blood results were handed over. The doctor skimmed them and said, “Your values meet the standards for AO university admission. We collaborate with Huaguo AO University, and your report will be uploaded electronically. Their professors may contact you. If you’re interested, you can discuss enrollment with them.”
“Alright,” Jiang He replied politely, taking the report.
It was merely a formality. She had never considered applying to an AO university.
Zhou Yi finished her exam and hurriedly asked, “Doctor, will I regress into a beta?”
“Of course not,” the doctor chuckled. “Who told you that? Regression is extremely rare, one in ten thousand cases. You’re perfectly healthy.”
Relieved, Zhou Yi left the room lighthearted. Jiang He smiled at her. “Now you can finally relax.”
“Of course! At least I’m a normal A. Boss, you qualify for AO university, don’t you? With your grades, you could even get a guaranteed spot!”
Jiang He fell silent.
Zhou Yi kept chattering, undeterred. “But AO universities assign fixed positions after graduation. You probably don’t need that anyway.”
“Mm.” Jiang He nodded, her gaze soft as she said, “Wouldn’t it be better to take the college entrance exam with you?”
“Of course, that’s great.” Zhou Yi beamed. “I was worried you’d get an early break before me.”
The two walked outside together. It was already close to five o’clock, and the late-March sun was no better than in winter, setting quickly and without mercy.
The sun dipped beneath the horizon, casting its final golden glow across the land.
The tall white buildings shimmered with a faint golden sheen, breathtakingly beautiful.
The mountain air had already begun to chill, carrying the bite of winter.
Since it was still early, they decided to wander around for a while.
Qingshan Hall was not only the venue for the sophomore skills assessment but also hosted city and provincial-level university competitions. Many of the staff working here were graduates of AO universities. The workload was light, the scenery idyllic, and the pay well above the national average, a job countless people envied.
Unknowingly, Jiang He and Zhou Yi found themselves at the music center.
Sometimes used for stage plays and musicals, most areas inside were restricted, with only the outer hall open to visitors.
Even the outer hall had drawn a crowd. A graceful melody floated through the air, someone was playing the piano.
Zhou Yi insisted the pianist must be an Omega and dragged Jiang He inside to see.
They squeezed through a gap in the semicircle of onlookers until they finally caught sight of the performer.
A young girl sat elegantly at the piano, her slender fingers dancing lightly across the black and white keys. The flowing music seemed to transform into visible notes, etching themselves deep into memory. She was immersed in her own performance, as if she and the instrument were one.
Zhou Yi had guessed right, the pianist was indeed an Omega.
And not just any Omega, but someone Jiang He knew all too well.
“Whoa, it’s Xin Chun, the beauty herself!” Zhou Yi exclaimed.
The two listened, absorbed.
The piece had entered its latter half, shifting from heavy solemnity to lively brightness, like someone burdened with worries gradually opening up and finding a new path.
Finally, the piece ended.
Applause erupted all around. Jiang He and Zhou Yi joined in enthusiastically.
Duan Xin Chun, still lingering in the mood of her music, lifted her head slowly. Her eyes met Jiang He’s, and she smiled bright and familiar, just like before.
Zhou Yi tactfully slipped away, leaving Jiang He alone with Duan Xin Chun.
Since that day of confession, they had rarely met.
“How was your physical exam?” Xin Chun asked casually as they strolled together.
“The doctor asked if I wanted to apply to AO University,” Jiang He answered honestly.
“No surprise there it’s you, Jiang He.” Xin Chun smiled.
Jiang He paused, then asked, “What about you?”
“She asked me the same thing,” Xin Chun replied.
“No surprise there,” Jiang He echoed her words.
Xin Chun laughed softly, shaking her head. “Jiang He, it’s been months since we’ve really talked, and you’re still the same. When you don’t know what to say, you just copy others. You don’t have to say anything at all.”
Her teasing tone made Jiang He press her lips into a small smile.
The atmosphere lightened, but then Xin Chun’s expression grew serious. “Jiang He, these past months, I deliberately avoided you. Even when Grandpa asked me to visit your family for New Year, I refused.”
Jiang He listened intently.
Xin Chun continued, “I’ve liked you for so many years. Accepting that you care for another Omega wasn’t easy. But now, I think I’ve finally let go. That’s why I can face you calmly like this.”
She smiled again this time, genuinely.
“Jiang He, we’re still friends, right?” she asked earnestly, then lowered her head with a small laugh. “I don’t think our relationship is the kind where, if we can’t be lovers, we can’t even be friends. We’ve known each other too long for that.”
She looked up. “What do you think?”
“Of course,” Jiang He nodded.
That evening, Dan Sirou and Director Yu Youliang conducted a surprise dorm inspection.
They hadn’t announced it beforehand, hoping to catch students off guard.
In one Alpha dorm, a boy had just finished showering. He hurriedly threw on a blanket to answer the door, only to be stunned by Sirou’s sudden appearance. The blanket slipped to the floor, thankfully, he was at least wearing shorts.
Still, the sight was embarrassingly obvious.
His rough voice echoed down the corridor: “Ahhh! President, why didn’t you give us a heads-up!”
Word spread quickly, and everyone scrambled to put on their most proper, disciplined demeanor.
Yet the last room at the end of the hall seemed cut off from the commotion, unaware of the inspection.
“Sirou, do we have one more?” Yu asked.
Qingyu High occupied two floors; the other two belonged to a neighboring school.
Sirou stepped forward and noticed a small, inconspicuous door, easy to overlook.
“There’s one more.”
She knocked several times. No response.
Just as they thought they’d finally caught someone, sounds stirred inside.
The door opened.
A girl stood there, her presence accompanied by a faint floral scent. Jiang He was startled.
Dan Sirou, why was she here?
Had she come specifically to find her at night?
Jiang He was flustered until she noticed the towering figure of Director Yu beside her. Then she understood.
Sirou gazed at her quietly. “What were you doing? Why did it take so long to open the door?” Her tone was calm, not the stern voice of a president interrogating a student, but more like a wife waiting patiently for her partner.
Jiang He faltered. “I.”
Fresh from her shower, she had been rehearsing words in her head, trying to figure out how to talk to her.
She was terrible at lying, stumbling over half-formed sentences.
“Hm?” Sirou softened her tone, seeing her struggle.
At that moment, Jiang He was holding Zhou Yi’s phone, Zhou had tossed it to her before running into the bathroom. The password was set to 2580, easy to unlock with a swipe. Jiang He happened to lift the phone, and her thumb accidentally slid across the screen.
Click. The screen unlocked.
“Mm, ah, ha.” A string of embarrassing sounds blared out.
The phone’s screen faced outward, so while Jiang He herself hadn’t realized what was playing, those outside had already seen the suggestive scene.
Sirou was speechless, shooting Jiang He a sidelong glance.
