After Breaking Up with the Stoic CEO - Chapter 21.1
Chapter 21.1: Lu Wu… That’s Enough
If she understood correctly, “201” must be the room number.
The person who acted so distant, yet whose words were clearly encouraging…
The steam in the bathroom had dissipated, but Lu Wu’s heart was still burning, thumping uncontrollably, completely unable to calm down. Standing in front of the mirror, looking at the flushed face and the spring-like expression in her own eyes, she had to admit that she had been completely handled, with no power to resist.
But Lu Wu didn’t feel it was a shameful defeat.
After all, it was Li Jin.
A beauty so superior that even the gods would be jealous, her every movement radiating a mature, cool charm. Li Jin’s capabilities and wealth matched her years. From a very young age, she had begun to control the operation of the entire Li Corporation behemoth, expanding and developing it into an industry benchmark in a very short time.
Professionally, she was a rigorous and rational work machine, recognized by all staff as excellent and decisive. Personally, she was a privileged daughter of heaven, surrounded by admiration and flattery since childhood, yet always polite, distant, and composed in her interactions. No one who had ever met her could fail to like Li Jin.
But for Lu Wu, there was one more layer to this attraction. Just as readers are always keen to pursue whether hidden reasons lie behind the conflicting plot points in a novel, for a writer, the contrast between Li Jin’s two faces was an irresistible puzzle. Every moment of ambiguous overstepping, every act of pulling away, was a sweet-smelling aphrodisiac.
Lu Wu opened her mouth slightly, breathing in the cool air, and tugged at the collar of her bathrobe, revealing just the right amount of skin. Li Jin didn’t dislike contact with her. And all Lu Wu could do was be obedient, gaze into her eyes, and offer her unreserved passion.
There were many rooms on the second floor of the villa, but luckily Li Jin’s bedroom was at the end, making it quite easy to find. Lu Wu stopped at the door and knocked.
Knock, knock—
The dull sound echoed in the empty corridor. Even though she tried to be as light as possible, it still felt out of place in the absolute silence. In a nearby room, the little girl who had gone upstairs not long ago might not have been fully asleep yet. Lu Wu waited, her nerves pulled taut like a tightrope.
She didn’t know how much time had passed.
Creak.
The door opened.
Perhaps because she had just showered, Li Jin looked much softer in the warm yellow light—less cold, her brows and eyes flushed with a hint of allure, her gaze appearing almost intoxicating. Lu Wu was dazed, forgetting to speak for a moment.
Li Jin lazily surveyed the person in front of her, her gaze sweeping over the half-exposed skin of her shoulders and neck. She saw through that obvious little mind, but didn’t point it out.
“Come in.”
“Sorry to disturb you.”
Lu Wu responded, stepped inside obediently, and gently closed the door. The space was isolated from the outside; with only the two of them left, the air filled with sticky, indistinct emotions. Lu Wu had nowhere to put her eyes, scanning the room before finally resting them on Li Jin’s nightgown.
Pure, flawless white, the material somewhere between silk and fine tulle, the hem barely covering her thighs. Surrounded by water vapor, her fair skin was faintly visible. Lu Wu felt her mouth grow increasingly dry.
Li Jin caught Lu Wu licking her lips. She turned around, her smooth, bare feet padding on the carpet—step, step, step—and said pointedly, “Do you know how to lock it from the inside?”
The curly wool carpet sank under her weight without making a sound. Lu Wu watched Li Jin’s back, and in her mind, a roar erupted; her restraint crumbled completely. The door had a sophisticated mechanical lock, different from standard ones, but after a few tries and figuring out the pattern, the difficulty vanished.
She followed in Li Jin’s footsteps, reaching for those soft, warm lips. Li Jin tacitly responded, stroking the top of her soft hair. Lu Wu tasted the sweetness, the kiss deepening, reckless and uncontained. Li Jin lost her footing, took a few steps back, and was eventually brought down onto the bed.
With a casual flick, the lace hem of her gown was pushed aside, revealing a glimpse of scenery that seemed to refuse yet invite. Burning breaths brushed against her; fair skin tightened, flushed with a tempting pink like a sunset. The roles shifted; Li Jin trembled, finally realizing that this time was different from the last. She raised a hand to cover her eyes, barely restraining her rapid breathing.
“Turn off the lights.”
Lu Wu pretended not to understand, using Li Jin’s own words against her. “You said you were looking forward to my performance. How can I see clearly if I turn off the lights?”
Li Jin went silent, turning her face away.
Lu Wu softened again, playing the part of the obedient lover, working hard while whispering into her ear. “Li Jin, I want to see you.”
The air was quiet; aside from the faint sound of water, there was only the sound of ambiguous, restrained breathing in their throats. Lu Wu coaxed her, praising her sincerely: “You are very beautiful.”
Li Jin squeezed out a few words: “Don’t talk too much.”
She was shy. Lu Wu smiled, her eyes squinting, though her peripheral vision caught a shallow, bruising mark on Li Jin’s wrist—the outline of fingers. Her thoughts drifted, recalling the faint fruity scent Li Jin had worn when they met.
She asked, “Is your hand hurt?”
Li Jin went silent for a few seconds and moved her hand away: “It’s nothing, got it by accident.”
Lu Wu wasn’t satisfied with this answer. She paused: “The perfume you’re wearing tonight is different from what you used before.”
Her emotions were all on her face; her tone was sour, the accusation clear. But the most direct thing was—her movements slowed down. Underneath the fake obedience hid a wicked streak. Li Jin was being teased until she was breathless; she propped herself up and reached out to hook Lu Wu’s neck.
“It’s just someone insignificant.”
Lu Wu hadn’t expected Li Jin to explain. She looked up in surprise, her gaze meeting the other woman’s, plunging into a pool of wanton, rippling spring light. In just an instant, a numbing sensation surged through her, and her heart softened.
Lu Wu wanted to ask for some benefit, but Li Jin glanced at her coldly.
“Don’t push your luck.”
Her tone returned to calm, and the desire in her eyes seemed to fade away in an instant. Lu Wu opened her mouth, not knowing what to say, and finally spat out an unwilling, “Sorry.”
But there was resentment hidden in her heart; since she couldn’t speak it, she repaid the emotion in other ways. Muffled, deeper, heavier. Until the one bearing it could no longer form a complete sentence.
“Lu Wu… that’s enough.”
The person who had been on the high ground lowered her head for the first time, her cool voice unable to contain itself. Lu Wu was also sweating, but she felt no fatigue. As if she hadn’t heard a word, she kissed Li Jin’s neck lightly.
“Li Jin, it’s just beginning.”
A young body lacks nothing but passion and strength. It wasn’t until the sky began to brighten that everything finally came to a standstill. Lu Wu carefully carried Li Jin to clean up, and just as she placed her back under the covers, the alarm clock on the side went off.
She turned off the alarm, feeling a bit guilty. “It’s seven o’clock… how about you don’t go to the company this morning and rest at home?”
Even as she said it, Lu Wu knew how fanatical Li Jin was about work, so she assumed the woman wouldn’t accept her suggestion. Sure enough, the other party didn’t even open her eyes, and it took a while before she spoke in a hoarse voice.
“Ruirui is reporting to school today. I’m driving her.”
Lu Wu frowned subconsciously: “You haven’t rested well.”
Li Jin lifted her eyes weakly, a cold smile seemingly playing on the corners of her lips. Lu Wu knew her place and raised her hands to admit her fault. “My mistake… I’ll know when to stop next time.”
Li Jin withdrew her gaze and closed her eyes to rest, non-committal. Seeing that she hadn’t explicitly rejected “next time,” Lu Wu breathed a sigh of relief. After thinking, she volunteered: “Which school is Ruirui going to? Why don’t I take her?”
Li Jin’s tone was flat: “Do you have a driver’s license?”
“I got it in college,” Lu Wu nodded, then touched her nose awkwardly, “haven’t driven many times… but the basics are safe.”
“Experimental Middle School.” Li Jin said, then paused, “Forget it. I’m afraid you can’t hold the steering wheel steady.”
Lu Wu’s ears turned red; she opened her mouth but couldn’t find a word to refute it.
“Then… you haven’t slept all night, that’s also not safe.”
This was a fact, and Li Jin knew it. But Li Xinrui had just returned to the country, and she was worried about letting the little girl face an unfamiliar environment alone.
“I’ll notify the driver.”
Lu Wu suddenly thought of a certain teacher at Experimental Middle School. “My friend is a teacher at Experimental Middle School. Her personality is well-liked by children, and it happens to be on her way to work. Why don’t we…”
Li Xinrui was clever and sensible; she wasn’t shy when meeting Tan Hangxue and quickly hit it off with her.
“Teacher Tan, you are so beautiful! Can we add each other on WeChat?”
“Sure.”
“I’ll scan you!”
“It’s accepted.”
“Teacher Tan, can I ask you anything in the future?”
“Of course you can.”
Li Xinrui smiled, her eyes curving into crescent moons. “Great! You’re the first friend I’ve made at school!”
Tan Hangxue’s heart melted. She said softly, “Then go wait in the car; I need to talk to the adults, okay?” “Okay~ wait for me!”
The little girl agreed obediently, turning back to wink at Lu Wu. “Lu-lu, can I invite you to play at our house this weekend?”
Lu Wu hesitated, touching the little girl’s chubby cheek. “I’m free anytime, but I’m afraid that coming over too often will disturb President Li’s work.”
Li Xinrui’s eyes brightened, and she asked Li Jin in a low voice: “Little Jin, can I invite Lu-lu to our house on the weekend?”
Li Jin glanced at Lu Wu, who was acting serious and natural…
“Sure.”
The little girl turned her head to Lu Wu, eyes full of longing: “Little Jin agreed…”
Lu Wu’s lips curled up, with Li Jin nearby, she didn’t dare to smile too brazenly. “I’ll wait for your call.”
“Yay!”
Li Xinrui cheered, no longer feeling reluctant. She excitedly said goodbye to the two of them. “Goodbye, Little Jin! Goodbye, Lu-lu! I’ll miss you.”
“Goodbye! I’ll miss you too~” Lu Wu waved, watching as the little girl got into Tan Hangxue’s white SUV.
Li Jin said nothing, only responding faintly: “Mhm.”
Tan Hangxue looked at the woman with the refined aura in front of her and said politely: “President Li… I have some words for Lu Wu. If it’s convenient—”
Li Jin nodded slightly and turned to the side to handle work information.
Tan Hangxue looked at Lu Wu with a half-smile: “Didn’t answer a hundred calls last night, but today you want me to babysit?”
Lu Wu smiled along: “Didn’t I message you last night saying I wasn’t coming back…”
“Is that so? Is it that hard to make a phone call?” Tan Hangxue snorted coldly. “Ji Youyan was worried about you all night, thinking you had been found by some internet mob and hacked to pieces.”
Knowing she was in the wrong, Lu Wu hung her head and admitted her mistake: “It’s my fault for making you worry.”
Li Jin was still standing not far away, so it was truly inconvenient to speak. Tan Hangxue checked her watch. “I don’t have time right now. We’ll talk when I get back tonight.”
Lu Wu sent her off. “Thanks for your hard work! Stay safe on the road.”
Only the two of them were left again.
Li Jin swept a light glance at Lu Wu: “Your friend is good to you.”
Lu Wu touched her ear and explained: “College roommates. We’ve always been close.”
Li Jin didn’t say anything more and turned to walk back.
Lu Wu didn’t know how much of the conversation Li Jin had heard. Being forced to hide everywhere by netizens didn’t sound very dignified, and she didn’t want the person she liked to see her in such a pathetic state, at least not yet. But Lu Wu also knew that Li Jin had eyes and ears everywhere; nothing she wanted to check would remain a secret. For things that bothered Lu Wu enough to affect her daily life, Li Jin could probably solve them with a single phone call.
Lu Wu didn’t plan to worry about that much for now. The most important thing was that she wanted to stay with Li Jin a little longer. She stepped forward, following close behind her.
“When are you going to the company?”
“In twenty minutes.”
“Do you want breakfast? I can make sandwiches.”
“No need. Eat it yourself.”
“Can I kiss you one more time?”
“No.”
“Oh…”
As Lu Wu’s legal representative, Ji Youyan officially sent lawyer letters to several marketing accounts that were driving the narrative. Suddenly, the public opinion on the internet shifted again. Coupled with the stalker suspect caught the other day, the matter had become too big for the website to continue playing dead.
Just after leaving Rongjiang, Liu Xiang called to arrange a meeting with Lu Wu.
“Teacher Lu, please wait here for a moment. Editor Liu and the manager are discussing something with someone.”
“Mhm, thank you for the trouble.”
Lu Wu sat in the meeting room, bored, looking at her phone.
Rarely, her mother, Xu Xiaoqiu, had sent a message. “Xiao Wu, how have things been lately?”
Lu Wu typed a formulaic reply: “Pretty good. How are you? Are you doing well with Uncle Qin?”
As soon as the message was sent, a call came through directly.
