After Breaking Up with the Stoic CEO - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Seventeen
The clock struck eleven, and the nightlife in C City was just beginning.
People sat at roadside stalls eating barbecue, while others embraced and danced on bar floors, doing everything possible to interpret the vitality of youth. Time was precious; no one wanted to waste it.
Lu Wu felt the same.
In her dreams, she had countless times imagined what sexy and wonderful body lay beneath Li Jin’s rigorous exterior. And now, the woman walked out of the bathroom wearing only a thin bathrobe, her skin still clinging to water droplets and heat. Her exquisite, slender neck was completely exposed, and her collar was half-open snow-white, warm skin and a shallow cleavage flooded Lu Wu’s vision.
All her fantasies had suddenly become reality.
Lu Wu didn’t dare let her gaze linger too long. She shifted her eyes slightly downward, only to glimpse even more: a waist loosely bound by a sash, smooth, sleek legs, and…
Desire was glaringly exposed in the air.
It was barely the start of summer, and the night still carried a quiet, cool breeze. Yet, certain dense, tingling emotions were suddenly becoming uncontrollable. Lu Wu pursed her lips and asked, feigning naturalness, “Can I have some water?”
Li Jin walked over, took a bottle of water from the fridge, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her.
Lu Wu took it and instinctively said, “Thank you.”
A very polite word of thanks.
Li Jin looked up. The person across from her had her eyes downcast, her long eyelashes fluttering. For no reason, it reminded her of the “little girl” at home. Speaking of which, how should she introduce Lu Wu to Rui-rui?
As a sister… or an auntie?
Li Jin took a sip of mineral water and asked, seemingly casually, “How old are you this year?”
Lu Wu didn’t answer immediately. For their relationship, age was a sensitive topic. Baidu Baike stated that Li Jin was thirty. Lu Wu had just turned twenty-four.
Stretched between them was not just a six-year age gap, but a world of difference in their perspectives, professional insights, and life experiences. It wasn’t a fatal issue, but it had obvious drawbacks. If Li Jin knew the true gap, she might be more inclined to see her as a child rather than a qualified partner for romance.
Lu Wu was mentally prepared.
“Twenty-four,” she looked up into Li Jin’s eyes. “Why? Do you mind someone younger than you?”
Li Jin didn’t give an answer. Her gaze still held a trace of intoxication, but her tone sounded much more sober: “Suit yourself. You don’t have to ask me about everything.”
She was answering the previous question about the water, but her evasive attitude offered a glimpse into the answer of the second.
Lu Wu grasped Li Jin’s hand and said in a low voice, “Wait for me here. I’m going to shower. I’ll be back soon.”
Li Jin still didn’t pull away. She looked down at their intertwined hands and spoke airily. “Rui-rui likes you very much. She’s looking forward to our cooperation.”
Lu Wu had never heard the name before, but she could guess that “Rui-rui” was her unseen little fan Li Jin’s daughter. Mentioning her daughter at this moment was clear. It was another subtle rejection.
The most tactful move would be to politely accept the rejection, say goodnight like a professional partner, and part ways. The price of such propriety would be returning to square one, and Lu Wu never intended for tonight to end here.
She leaned in closer and whispered a protest into Li Jin’s ear: “I like her too, and I’m looking forward to it… but that reason doesn’t stand.”
Looking forward to what? Lu Wu didn’t say it explicitly. But Li Jin understood.
The air went silent for a while. The hotel’s smart control system detected the quiet atmosphere and automatically dimmed the lights. A cold mechanical female voice rang out: “Sleep mode has been activated for you. Wishing you a wonderful night.”
The temperature was adjusted to a more comfortable 26°C. Lu Wu’s body began to warm up, and that feeling of thirst surged again. Half a bottle of mineral water sat on the island counter, but Lu Wu knew this wasn’t a physiological thirst.
She swallowed hard and followed her heart, closing the distance until Li Jin was cornered between her arms and the wall, unable to escape. Lu Wu’s bold move brought a flash of unexpected surprise to Li Jin’s eyes.
Before she could speak, a flurry of light kisses descended, branding her forehead, her brow, and her cheek. Finally, Lu Wu’s lips pressed almost reverently against the side of her neck.
The soft touch and hot breath worked together like a faint electric current. Li Jin trembled uncontrollably. “Mm…”
In a completely silent environment, any sound becomes exceptionally distinct. Furthermore, this short, gasped breath was seductive to the extreme. Lu Wu didn’t miss the faint flush rising on that patch of skin, nor the sound escaping Li Jin’s throat.
She paused, the corners of her mouth curving into a small, whispered laugh. “Li Jin, you’re clearly looking forward to it too.”
When she came out after her shower, Li Jin was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window. An unlit lady’s cigarette was held between her fingers, and a bottle of expensive red wine of an unknown brand sat tilted on the floor.
Lu Wu walked over, set the bottle upright, and knelt half-down in front of the woman. “Do you usually act like this?”
Li Jin’s gaze was downcast. She rolled the slender cigarette tip between her fingers, and a faint scent of tobacco drifted out. She asked, “Like what?”
Lu Wu chose her words carefully, finding a somewhat inappropriate description: “Indulging yourself regardless of the consequences.”
Li Jin dazed for a moment. She had always been strict with herself, controlling the frequency of alcohol and cigarettes within a rigorous limit. A whole pack of Cigaronne might not be finished in a month, and alcohol was something she barely touched except for social functions.
But every time she met Lu Wu, it seemed poorly timed. Last time, and this time. She was the successful entrepreneur who met every societal standard of perfection, the model junior who never caused her family a moment’s worry. Only in front of Lu Wu did she become the “consequence-ignoring” Li Jin.
Li Jin looked up. It was past midnight, and the surrounding CBD buildings had turned off their outdoor advertisements. Without the mottled neon lights, Lu Wu’s face finally became clear again at this close range. Her beautiful brows were slightly furrowed, and her round, bright eyes looked straight at her, filled with a raw, well-behaved concern.
Like a green leaf stirred by the wind, she sent ripple after ripple through Li Jin’s heart. It couldn’t be stilled.
Li Jin smiled and asked that “consequence-ignoring” question once more. “Do you want to?”
The scattered sparks ignited the dry wood everywhere. No one knew who leaned in first, but their lips met in a tight embrace. The tobacco scent was so faint it almost vanished, replaced by a rich, sweet fruity fragrance and a lingering hint of wine.
Lu Wu allowed herself to taste Li Jin, nibbling and licking bit by bit. Breath intertwined, sweetness exchanged. The thirst finally found some solace, yet the desire that rose from nowhere grew even deeper. Her hands wandered, slipping beneath the hem of the robe, yet for a long time, she couldn’t find her way.
Lu Wu’s voice turned urgent: “Li Jin…”
Li Jin’s body stiffened for a moment before she reached behind her back. Lu Wu wasn’t satisfied; she guided Li Jin’s hand to her own robe. Li Jin took a deep breath and pulled the silk belt.
They finally stood together without a gap. Lu Wu did everything she could to please Li Jin, following what her “study materials” had taught her, moving step by step toward the destination.
But until the moment she was surrounded by a bit of moisture, she belatedly realized one thing even if she could get a perfect score on a theoretical exam, it didn’t change the fact that her practical experience was zero. To avoid hurting Li Jin, Lu Wu became as cautious as possible.
She repeatedly adjusted her position, her movements stiff and green, like a novice driver behind the wheel for the first time. But the core of “reverse parking” lies in finding the key points, controlling the speed, and flexibly adjusting the direction. The consequence of being too careful was only one: missing the point entirely.
Before her was a heat that almost scorched, and behind her was the cold, hard glass, combined with wandering fingertips and breath. Li Jin was wrapped in a feeling of weightlessness, as if lying on a cloud, unable to touch the ground for a long time.
She gripped Lu Wu’s shoulders, her voice carrying a trace of mock-anger as she called her name: “Lu Wu!”
Lu Wu stopped her movements, ready to get up and find medicine. “Did I hurt you? I’m sorry.”
The feeling of emptiness was even worse, enough to drive one mad. Li Jin frowned, but seeing the anxious look in Lu Wu’s eyes, she eventually just let out a sigh, grabbed her arm, and whispered, “Heavier.”
