- Chapter 1 - Caught While Escaping ^ Losing Control of the Body
In the Imperial Capital of November, the autumn wind whistled with a biting, desolate chill.
A thin, gaunt figure, looking entirely out of place among the street pedestrians, stumbled along in flimsy clothing. With a panicked expression, he ducked into a narrow alleyway overflowing with refuse.
Gao Chang gasped for air. Once his chaotic thoughts settled slightly, he endured the bone-chilling cold and fished a rusted wrench out of a pile of junk. He swung it with force, aimed squarely at the tracking device clamped around his ankle.
As he moved, the heavy chains wrapped several times around his forearm glinted with a sharp metallic sheen in the dim light. His light, gauzy collar felt open, revealing a neck and shoulders as pale as jade and snow, covered in deep and shallow teeth marks some fresh, some fading.
A considerable amount of time passed. The metal casing of the high-quality tracker was covered in rust dust and debris, yet it showed no signs of breaking.
Before he transmigrated into this book, the System had told him with great enthusiasm that if he followed the plot, found the Protagonist Shou, and worked with him to protect world peace and reach a Happy Ending, he would receive a Rebirth Card to return to his own world.
Gao Chang had treated it as a simple challenge. Even though he hadn’t read this “sweet novel” before, he figured that with the System’s assistance, wooing the Protagonist Shou wouldn’t be difficult. He had accepted the arrangement quite calmly.
Who would have known the System was so unreliable? It vanished on the very first day of his arrival, cutting off all contact.
He was forced to fend for himself, maintaining his persona as the young master of the Empire’s richest man while constantly scouring the crowd for the Protagonist Shou who held the key to his future.
Because of this, he not only topped the “Empire’s #1 Scumbag” list year after year but was also dismissed as a profligate, brainless playboy.
He had endured all of it.
What he couldn’t accept was that he had been blinded by the “beautiful, tragic, and weak” buffs layered onto Xing Xiyan. He had been fooled by that beautiful, harmless face, only to end up provoking a hidden, literal mad dog.
That night, he had merely mentioned breaking up as a test. In the blink of an eye, he was locked in a basement.
For months, his freedom and social life were stripped away. Trapped in that cramped space, he was forced to endure Xing Xiyan’s endless variety of torments.
Recalling the miserable experiences of the recent past, the light in Gao Chang’s eyes hidden beneath his messy dark hair suddenly dimmed. He bit his bruised and cracked lips, and the force of his blows against the tracker unconsciously intensified.
The clack-clack of metal on metal, fueled by endless resentment, quickly attracted nearby patrol robots. Piercing red lights began to flash, sweeping repeatedly toward his position.
【Target located! Target located!!】
【District 15 of the Imperial Capital, East Street Alleyway, No. 1232! 】
Hearing the mechanical voices coming from the alley entrance, Gao Chang’s heart tightened. He was forced to abandon his attempt to destroy the tracker. Before those clumsy hulks could restrict his movement, he flipped over a low wall nearby.
The moment his feet touched the ground, a familiar and highly aggressive pheromone surged into his nostrils like a violent tidal wave, attacking his entire body with absolute dominance.
Even from dozens of meters away, the pressure buckled his legs, forcing him to fall to his knees instinctively.
Under the rapid catalysis of the thickening pheromones in the air, the gland at the back of his neck currently in the second stage of transformation heated up rapidly. His entire body felt as if it were being baked under a scorching sun; while moisture was being drained from him, an indescribable, agonizing itch spread through him.
Damn that villain…
Enslaved by the heat of the fever, Gao Chang’s mind was a mess. He unconsciously twisted his legs together as his body convulsed under wave after wave of uncontrollable heat. His clear, translucent light-blue eyes grew vacant and hollow, staring unfocused into the void.
Almost as soon as he was fully submerged in the sensation, that bitter pine scent lingering in his blood skillfully paused its assault.
It left him stuck at a fever pitch, unable to find any release.
Xing Xiyan did this for no other reason than to warn him: Gao Chang had been removed from the ranks of Alphas. He had fallen into the mire, becoming an unconventional Omega who bore a specific Alpha’s mark.
In the past, whenever he refused to cooperate in bed, Xing Xiyan would subject him to this kind of torment round after round of deliberate induction until he broke and begged for mercy.
Now, the villain was using the same old trick again, even humiliating him in public. Clearly, he was livid about Gao Chang’s private attempt to escape.
Out of the corner of his eye, Gao Chang caught sight of a pair of black boots approaching. His heart skipped a beat. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed the ice-cold wrench and rubbed it frantically against the back of his neck. Using that needle-like, stabbing cold to disperse the rushing heat in his body, he barely managed to claw back a bit of his strength.
