- Chapter 7 - Marriage Certificate on the Trending Searches, Weibo Crashes, and a Temporary Move
At the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, a long Bentley was parked in the open-air parking lot.
Ji Bing had used a private appointment number. After the two of them arrived at the window and presented their documents, the series of procedures for marriage registration were quickly completed.
After Qiu Ye received his own red booklet, he flipped it open and glanced at the photo of the two of them. He felt that such good styling and makeup would be a waste if only used for this.
“I brought a photographer along. Shall we take a few more photos?” Lu Mingchuan suggested at just the right moment, as if he could hear Qiu Ye’s inner thoughts.
The photographer, carrying professional gear, directed the two of them: “Gentlemen, look over here. A little closer… you can smile a bit!”
The moment the flash went off, Lu Mingchuan suddenly turned his head to nuzzle his face. A warm sensation brushed against the contour of Qiu Ye’s ear.
Caught off guard, Qiu Ye froze. His eyes widened slightly, and it felt as if a thousand butterflies were fluttering in his stomach.
The experienced photographer captured this moving moment. Looking at the screen, he commented, “This one is particularly natural.”
After finishing the commemorative photos, Lu Mingchuan sat back in the car. He flipped open the red booklet that was still warm from his touch, took a photo with his phone, and added a rabbit sticker over Qiu Ye’s face.
Sitting beside him, Qiu Ye silently watched Lu Mingchuan’s fingers carefully adjust the size and position of the sticker on the screen until the little rabbit completely covered his face.
So, even big stars do their own photo editing.
Ji Bing, sitting in the front passenger seat, glanced back at Lu Mingchuan. She thought to herself that it was a good thing “love-brain” wasn’t covered by medical insurance. Otherwise, the money in the insurance fund definitely wouldn’t be enough to cover him.
“Sister Bing, I’ve thought of a few drafts for the official announcement and sent them to the group chat,” the assistant, Xiao Bei, said while driving.
Ji Bing let out a huff from her nose and said, “Don’t bother. He’ll come up with something himself.”
Hearing their conversation, a flicker of curiosity rose in Qiu Ye’s heart. He wondered what kind of Weibo post Lu Mingchuan would use to announce their marriage.
“Secretary Qiu, do you use Weibo?” Xiao Bei asked without looking back, his focus still on the road ahead.
Qiu Ye nodded and answered softly, “I have an account, but I don’t post anything.”
His account had a default avatar, and the name consisted of three capital English letters—QIU.
“Qiu Ye, I want to follow your account,” Lu Mingchuan said, looking up at him.
Qiu Ye opened his account interface. Just as he had said, the page was completely empty; there weren’t even any retweets for lucky draws.
“Adjust your follower display settings.”
“Okay.”
Qiu Ye didn’t use Weibo much. He scrolled through the settings list for a moment before finding the function and enabling privacy protection for the follower display column.
A few seconds later, a small red dot popped up in the notification bar at the bottom, showing that Lu Mingchuan had followed him.
Qiu Ye subconsciously clicked into the other man’s profile, intending to follow him back out of politeness. Lu Mingchuan had tens of millions of followers, yet his “Following” count stood at a lonely “1.”
That sole following was himself.
It was hard for Qiu Ye to describe the feeling. Even though he and Lu Mingchuan were in a partnership where each took what they needed, looking at that “1” gave him the illusion that he was truly important.
“I’ve set it to private, so others won’t see who you are.”
Qiu Ye scrolled down Lu Mingchuan’s profile and saw the post announcing the marriage.
@LuMingchuan: The world keeps changing until we meet. [Attached Image: Two opened marriage certificates.]
This Weibo post was published at 5:21 PM on a weekday afternoon.
One moment, the internet was calm and quiet; the next, a massive nuclear bomb was silently dropped.

Countless related tags shot to the top of the trending list at explosive speeds, each followed by a deep red “HOT” tag.
After a brief, dead silence, the comment section of the post was instantaneously stormed by a tsunami of responses.
【When did the ‘Following’ count become 1? Bro, you’ve been on Weibo for ten years—is your only follow really your wife?】
【Before clicking: ‘Which drama promo is this?’ After clicking: ‘HOLY CRAP!!!! It’s a real marriage certificate!!’】
【Dropping the marriage certificate and timing the post at 5:21… that’s giving the other person so much security!! Help, he even pinned it! You love them too much!】
【Who exactly is the person behind this rabbit sticker! I want his full profile in three minutes!】
【Sisters! Why did Weibo crash! Did the server literally explode? I can’t load the pictures, ugh…】
In just half an hour, the massive traffic instantly crushed the backend servers. The page froze completely; no matter how much one refreshed, it remained a blank void.
Countless fans and onlookers toggled back and forth between the broken page and other boiling social media platforms.
In a corner where no one was paying attention, the tag for Qin Yanting’s new male-lead drama premiere was pushed to the very bottom.
“Lu Mingchuan actually got married,” Xu Zilang said, sitting in the CEO’s office at Huanhe with his legs crossed.
“Impressive. Even Weibo got blown up,” Xu Zilang added, looking toward He Yuchen as if wanting to share the gossip.
“It’s just hype,” He Yuchen said, reaching out to pull a silver-white fountain pen from the pen holder, seemingly uninterested in the news of Lu Mingchuan’s marriage.
“Come on, you two were the big shots back at Nanhua. Are you really not bothered at all?”
He Yuchen’s expression shifted slightly. He sneered, “I’m the boss, he’s the artist. Is there any need for me to compete with a guy who eats off his looks?”
“Getting on the trending list for a marriage certificate—it’s just grandstanding.”
Xu Zilang stared at the rabbit sticker repeatedly and said, “This Omega must be a civilian. I really want to know what he looks like.”
“President He, your coffee.”
He Yuchen picked up the mug with one hand and took a sip. He frowned and snapped, “What kind of beans did you use? This is so sour!”
“It tastes terrible.”
The new assistant trembled in fear and replied shakily, “The kind Secretary Qiu used to buy is out of stock online. We chose one from the same region…”
“Can’t even get the small things right,” He Yuchen interrupted coldly, slamming the mug down on the desk.
After speaking, He Yuchen’s gaze swept over the Norfolk Island pine in the corner, and his face darkened further.
“This tree is practically wilting. Does no one think to water it just because Qiu Ye isn’t here?”
The assistant kept their head down while being scolded, silently praying for Secretary Qiu to return quickly.
Xu Zilang looked in the direction He Yuchen was pointing. The once lush green pine indeed had a small cluster of yellow, withered leaves.
Without Secretary Qiu, the CEO’s office seemed to have lost its stabilizing force.
Xu Zilang remembered the unanswered call he had made to Qiu Ye. He had intended to talk to He Yuchen about it, but seeing him acting as if he’d taken the wrong medicine, he decided not to walk into the line of fire.
The place where Qiu Ye lived was an old residential complex, but it benefited from complete surrounding facilities and was only a ten-minute drive from Huanhe.
Several colleagues had bought apartments here, but Qiu Ye was only a long-term tenant.
Qiu Ye nodded to the drowsy security guard in the booth and glanced at the clock, noticing he had arrived home a bit earlier than usual.
He rarely had the chance to lie on the sofa and scroll through his friend circle. Suddenly, He Yuchen’s avatar popped up in the feed.
The man had actually posted something unrelated to work. It seemed he was truly troubled by the withered leaves of the Norfolk Island pine.
Qiu Ye stared at the picture for a second or two, but he didn’t like it or reply.
The next second, his phone suddenly vibrated in his palm.
Ji Bing’s anxious voice came through.
“Mr. Qiu, the paparazzi have released the video. Although they blurred your face, technology is very advanced nowadays. I’m afraid if someone…”
The public opinion on the internet changed in an instant. The sweet official announcement from the afternoon began to shift direction as the paparazzi video was exposed in the evening.
Qin Yanting’s fans had been annoyed with Lu Mingchuan for a long time and seized this golden opportunity to question him frantically.
【He didn’t announce it earlier or later, but chose to do it right before the video leaked? And he timed it with our brother’s drama premiere? How petty can you get?】
【Isn’t it obvious? It’s just a distraction. Do people really think there’s true love in the entertainment industry?】
【My legs are weak just watching this~ I want to be pinned against a wall and kissed like that by Lu Mingchuan too~】
【He’s panicked, he’s panicked! He was afraid his ‘Bunny Wife’ would get bashed, so he announced it first to protect him! I’m shipping this so hard!】
Is this ‘Bunny Wife’ referring to me?
“Mr. Qiu, are you still listening?”
Qiu Ye quickly withdrew his gaze and said softly, “Sorry, please continue.”
Ji Bing asked about where Qiu Ye lived and suggested he move to the “Fengqi Chaoming” estate, which had better security.
Holding the phone, Qiu Ye thought it over and decided to lie low for a while.
He packed a simple suitcase and sat in the living room waiting for the assistant, Xiao Bei, to pick him up.
The doorbell rang, and he gently opened the door.
The person standing outside, however, was not Xiao Bei.
Lu Mingchuan was wearing a baseball cap and a black mask, revealing only a pair of deep grey eyes. He naturally took the suitcase from Qiu Ye’s side.
“Why are you here?” Qiu Ye looked at the fully disguised Alpha, wondering if he should also put on a disguise.
“Don’t you need to take anything else?” Lu Mingchuan walked inside and took a general scan of Qiu Ye’s small two-bedroom apartment.
Lu Mingchuan walked over to one of the open boxes, which had He Yuchen’s name written on it.
Qiu Ye nodded. “The lease isn’t up yet, so I’ll just leave these things here for now.”
“Secretary Qiu?”
Someone behind him called out softly, sounding a bit hesitant.
Qiu Ye’s heart jumped. He turned around slowly.
A female colleague from the finance department was standing there, holding an orange cat in her arms, greeting him with a delighted expression.
It was the first time she had seen Secretary Qiu without his glasses.
“I haven’t seen Secretary Qiu at the company for a few days. I only found out from HR that you were on leave.”
“Oh, are you going on a trip?” The colleague stroked the orange cat and quickly noticed the suitcase by Qiu Ye’s side.
Following her assumption, Qiu Ye nodded and subconsciously reached up to push the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
Oops!
He had forgotten he was wearing contact lenses today.
A silver light flashed from the matching ring on his ring finger.
The colleague naturally saw it too. A look of astonishment appeared on her face, and the orange cat let out a timely “meow.”
Qiu Ye pursed his thin lips and decided to just let it all out. “I got married.”
Almost everyone at Huanhe knew that Secretary Qiu and President He were a pair; the gossip about them could be traced back to their high school days.
The colleague assumed the rumors had come true—that Secretary Qiu and President He had been secretly engaged and were simply keeping a low profile.
“Con… Congratulations, Secretary Qiu! Happy wedding!”
“So this is your honeymoon trip with President He.”
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere turned palpably awkward.
The next second, Lu Mingchuan walked out of Qiu Ye’s home, carrying a pile of things in his left hand and pulling the large suitcase with his right.
The baseball cap and mask hid Lu Mingchuan’s face, but they couldn’t hide the Alpha’s superior physique, nor could they conceal that shimmering silver ring.
“You’ve misunderstood.”
Qiu Ye pursed his lips and, meeting his colleague’s confused gaze, explained softly, “This person is my husband.”
