After Being Used As A Substitute By A Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 29
She hadn’t expected Zhongli Tang to kiss her. By the time she realized what was happening, her lip had already been split, and the faint, metallic taste of rust bloomed on the tip of her tongue.
Zhongli Tang’s eyes overflowed with unfamiliar emotions, like a torrential flood or an approaching storm on the verge of collapse. Yet, through sheer willpower, it all dissolved into a lingering breeze that quietly drifted away, unnoticed by anyone.
Qin Wei didn’t understand why she had suddenly kissed her. Sensing Zhongli Tang’s volatile mood, she no longer hesitated, she grabbed Zhongli Tang’s wrist and shook her head in a futile attempt to stop her.
“Let go.”
Are you scared?
Qin Wei actually understood her meaning. She blinked. Due to the biological traits of an Omega, she was trapped in Zhongli Tang’s embrace, feeling as though she were submerged in seawater, drowning to the point of suffocation.
Only when Xu Sui stopped speaking did Zhongli Tang loosen her grip. Qin Wei’s ears were pressed a bright red, a flash of heartache crossed Zhongli Tang’s eyes, followed by a flicker of resentment toward Xu Sui.
Zhongli Tang instinctively reached out to rub Qin Wei’s ear for her, but Qin Wei dodged the touch.
“Relax, I won’t touch you,” Zhongli Tang whispered into her ear, her voice barely a breath.
Footsteps outside the wardrobe suddenly drew near and then stopped. Qin Wei parted her lips and gripped the hem of Zhongli Tang’s clothes. It wasn’t that she was afraid of being discovered, she simply didn’t want anyone to see her together with Zhongli Tang.
Zhongli Tang narrowed her eyes. Sensing Qin Wei’s fear, she pulled her into a tight hug, ensuring there was no possibility of exposure while stroking the back of the girl’s head to soothe the “startled rabbit.”
“Teacher Xu, are you there?” several student voices called from outside the door.
Xu Sui put on a smile and asked, “Is something the matter?”
“Sorry to bother you! The changing rooms are full, so we wanted to borrow this place to change. We’ll be quick!” several Omegas crowded at the door, asking sheepishly.
Xu Sui nodded with a smile, shifting her gaze away from the wardrobe. “Of course. You guys go ahead. I have something to take care of, so I’ll head out first.”
Qin Wei shrank further into the corner. She recognized one of the voices as her own classmate. Zhongli Tang patted her shoulder, her mind no longer on the departing Xu Sui, but filled only with concern for the girl in her arms.
Fortunately, the Omegas had no intention of approaching the wardrobe; they chatted among themselves about the ceremony.
“I didn’t expect Qin Wei to show up today.”
“Yeah, yeah! Let me tell you a secret…”
“What is it? Stop keeping us in suspense!”
“I walked past Qin Wei earlier and noticed she was using two scent-blocking patches. They were applied so carefully I almost didn’t see them. I bet at least one thing in those deleted forum posts was true, she definitely has an Alpha.”
“No way? My friend was just telling us they wanted to pursue her.”
Zhongli Tang’s movements stiffened. She hooked her finger under Qin Wei’s chin, her gaze deepening like distant lights flickering in the dark of night. She brushed her thumb almost imperceptibly over the blood on the corner of Qin Wei’s mouth.
Qin Wei’s features were well-defined, and she usually looked quite ordinary, but once you truly possessed her, you realized how soft she was inside. She was like a green peach, sour at a glance, but sweet to the core once bitten, leaving a long-lasting aftertaste. She was indeed worth being coveted by others.
The noise outside seemed to have vanished, but neither made a move to leave.
Qin Wei’s body was stiff. “What they said is false.”
Zhongli Tang let out a low chuckle, brushing away the drop of blood. “What are you afraid of? Our Weiwei is so impressive, it’s only normal for others to like you.”
Her tone, however, was laced with nonchalance.
Qin Wei composed herself and pushed her away. Stepping out of the wardrobe, she smoothed the wrinkles in her clothes, instantly regaining her usual cold and detached demeanor. If not for her split lip, one would never have guessed what she had been doing.
Zhongli Tang wanted to say something, but Qin Wei covered her mouth.
Qin Wei remained calm. “Sister, I’ll go check outside first. If the coast is clear, I’ll send you a message.”
Without waiting for a reaction, she left the lounge immediately.
Zhongli Tang failed to catch even a corner of her sleeve. Watching Qin Wei’s quickened pace, as if desperate to avoid any further contamination, a look of confusion crossed her face. She had expected Qin Wei to question her presence, to be confrontational, or perhaps to cry softly.
Zhongli Tang had even considered telling Qin Wei the whole truth. She despicably thought that since Qin Wei liked her, she might be angry or sad at first, but if she spent a few days patiently coaxing her, they would eventually reconcile.
But she never expected a reaction like this.
Zhongli Tang remembered when she was filming, she and Xu Sui hadn’t broken up yet. Back then, Omega actors in the same crew would constantly “bump into” her or drop hints. Before anything could actually develop, Xu Sui would openly make them leave.
The current situation wasn’t exactly the same, but it wasn’t entirely different either. Yet, Qin Wei didn’t give her a single word or even a look of jealousy.
[Message] Sister, the backstage is mostly empty now, you can come out. I have things to do, so I’m leaving first. See you tonight.
Qin Wei typed the messages with a blank expression, choosing her words carefully and even adding an emoji at the end. As expected, Zhongli Tang did not reply.
“Hello. If there are no issues with this contract, please sign it.”
The landlord was an old woman who looked kind and gentle. She hadn’t been able to return earlier because she was busy taking care of her grandson, her eyes crinkled with joy whenever she mentioned him.
Qin Wei didn’t know much about such things, so she simply offered a dry “Congratulations.”
The landlord didn’t mind. After learning that Qin Wei was a graduate student at Capital University, she reduced the rent by several hundred dollars and became even friendlier. “Being a student isn’t easy, and you’re an Omega coming here alone to handle things. Your family must be worried. So, please, don’t be formal with me.”
Qin Wei nodded, momentarily dazed. Madam Qin looked a little bit like her, but that resemblance was a kindness reserved only for Qin Cinan.
“Oh, right! I’m getting old and I like my peace. If you have any problems during the day, just come to me. At night, I go to bed very early, so if you run into trouble, go find the person upstairs,” the old lady patted her forehead. “Look at my memory, I almost forgot. She’s also a graduate of Capital University. I don’t remember where she works, but she should be off duty by now.”
Qin Wei blinked. “Upstairs?”
The old lady nodded repeatedly. “But she’s an Alpha. If you mind that, you can wait until morning.”
Just then, a knock sounded at the door. “Grandma Qin, I’m back.”
The voice sounded somewhat unrestrained and bold.
Qin Wei narrowed her eyes.
Grandma Qin beckoned the newcomer over. The female Alpha was dressed in a black suit, with her jacket draped over her shoulders in a casual, rakish manner. “Yo, you have a guest? Introduce us.”
Qin Wei slowly turned around. “Hello, Senior.”
