After Being Used As A Substitute By A Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 27
Xu Sui?
Qin Wei narrowed her eyes slightly. Was that the name she just heard? A trace of confusion flickered across her expression.
Meanwhile, the school’s large group chat continued to be flooded with messages, showing no signs of stopping. As if seeking confirmation, Qin Wei scrolled back up through the chat history.
[Ahhh! Our Omega Association Vice President is here!] [Welcome, Vice President! Sobbing] [I met her once abroad before, she is truly beautiful.] [I love her so much.] [I didn’t expect the school to actually invite you. All my hard work to get in here was worth it!]
Qin Wei couldn’t empathize with their excitement; she simply noted Xu Sui’s identity.
“It’s Xu Sui…” The makeup artist frowned.
“I know, I know her. This person is famous online for being ‘sweet’ with the Goddess. They used to go to the same school, though apparently not in the same class. They haven’t had much interaction since graduation, but many people have edited videos of the two of them. They have quite a few ‘CP’ (coupling) fans online. The key is that neither of the two involved has ever come forward to deny it.”
The junior student spoke with great conviction, as if it were an established fact she had witnessed herself.
Qin Wei arched an eyebrow. She was now essentially certain that Xu Sui and Zhongli Tang were involved, but she needed to push further to confirm the exact nature of their relationship.
“I actually don’t like this Xu Sui very much,” Bai Ling suddenly spoke up, her expression carrying a hint of disgust.
“Most of the incidents were suppressed, so these freshmen don’t know. I remember an Omega asking for help online, her Alpha had cheated and refused to provide pheromones to soothe her. She was facing immense pain every day and wanted to get a divorce and wash away the mark. She probably messaged Xu Sui looking for comfort, but Xu Sui told her not to wash the mark and to try her best to win the Alpha back so they could stay together. The Omega listened to her, and in the end, because she couldn’t get through her heat, she ended up having her glands removed.”
Qin Wei’s eyes shifted. “Is that the study I did regarding reducing risks for Omega suppressants?”
After that incident, the technology had been adopted by major corporations, which is why the safety of most suppressants on the market had improved significantly recently.
Bai Ling paused, then nodded. Qin Wei was involved in so many projects that she hadn’t realized it for a moment.
Qin Wei remembered participating in that research during her junior year. She had heard about that Omega’s situation at the time but hadn’t truly taken it to heart. Once the project ended, the matter was naturally forgotten, she certainly hadn’t known that Xu Sui was involved in the middle of it.
The makeup artist blinked, looking at Qin Wei as if through a filter of admiration. Being an Omega herself, she knew the importance of that project. “Senior, you’re so amazing.”
“I haven’t heard about that incident, but I just feel that the ‘vibe’ this person creates online is too perfect, as if she’s flawless,” the junior said hesitantly. Truthfully, if it weren’t for the CP videos with Zhongli Tang, she wouldn’t have followed this person at all.
At that moment, several “Red Packets” (digital money gifts) appeared in the group chat. They were sent by Xu Sui, specifically labeled for Omegas to claim. They were snatched up in seconds.
[Xu Sui: Thank you everyone for the welcome. Actually, I admire this school very much, so I came uninvited. I look forward to meeting you all soon.]
Qin Wei lost interest in reading further and closed the page.
After a while, someone knocked on the door to remind them that they were due on stage in ten minutes and asked them to go outside to prepare.
In the auditorium, shadows flickered as the crowd settled. The decorations were quite nice, and every face was filled with aspiration and expectation.
Qin Wei dazed for a moment. When she was first fast tracked into this school, she had felt similar emotions. But once the symptoms of her differentiation allergy appeared, those feelings vanished completely.
However, she closed her eyes and quickly regained her composure. Fortunately, things were improving. She decided she would visit the hospital again once the project was completed.
“…I love this school. Many years ago, due to various reasons, my wish to be here wasn’t fulfilled. Now, I am finally standing here. I hope you all can maintain your original intentions. That is all for my speech…”
Xu Sui stood on the stage, her appearance vivid and flamboyant, exuding total confidence. She gave the audience an elegant smile and then drifted off the stage.
Some students were already unable to contain themselves, standing up to applaud her.
As Xu Sui descended the stage, she happened to pass by them. Qin Wei remained unmoved, her gaze sweeping past her calmly.
“Hello, you are Qin Wei, right?” Xu Sui suddenly stopped in her tracks. She gave her a bright, radiant smile and extended her hand, revealing a dazzling gemstone bracelet. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
If it were any other Omega student, they would have reached out immediately, gushing with excitement or perhaps feeling a hint of inferiority. But Qin Wei merely scanned her calmly, she saw no necessity in getting to know her.
Xu Sui didn’t seem embarrassed. She had her assistant bring over her phone and independently pulled up a QR code, holding it before Qin Wei’s eyes. “My friend Chen Ya did something wrong and is having a hard time now, but in any case, I should apologize to you on his behalf.”
“Mhm.” Qin Wei accepted it flatly. She didn’t care about Chen Ya’s apology, she only wanted him to face the consequences he deserved.
Xu Sui’s smile seemed to stiffen for a split second. She hadn’t expected Qin Wei to have this kind of personality. However, her years of experience allowed her to maintain her composure without cracking. “I think we have a lot to talk about, but there’s not much time left. If we add each other, it’ll be easier to stay in touch.”
This statement wasn’t a lie. Qin Wei was certain that the Xu Sui before her was the same person mentioned in the conversation between Zhongli Tang and Su He.
Once Xu Sui successfully obtained Qin Wei’s contact information, she walked away a few steps before turning back: “I heard that Student Qin’s project progress isn’t going very well. Truly, if it’s not working out, there’s no need to force it.”
Her tone was full of kindness, sounding like a well-meaning reminder, but it felt “off” to the listener.
Qin Wei remained unfazed and composed: “I’ll keep that in mind.”
The smile on Xu Sui’s face finally failed to hold. In her imagination and based on the information her friends passed back, Qin Wei was supposed to be a humble Omega who loved deeply, either obsessed with Zhongli Tang’s face or after her money. Unlike the substitutes Zhongli Tang had found before, there wasn’t a hint of cowardice in her. To outsiders, she was a gentle senior with terrifyingly good grades.
Could such a person really just be a substitute?
No…or rather, in the deepest part of her heart, did Zhongli Tang actually view Qin Wei as a substitute?
Xu Sui’s long held confidence wavered. Impossible, she is just a pheromone substitute for me. Gritting her teeth, she turned and left.
By the time Zhongli Tang emerged from the meeting room, it was already noon. There were few people left in the office. Even though M6149 had been restarted, the support she received was negligible, essentially zero.
Zhongli Tang exhaled. Before she could adjust her state of mind, she received a string of messages from Su He.
[Su He: This is insane.] [Su He: I’m sending you a link, see for yourself.]
The title was Capital University Opening Ceremony, and the number of online viewers was extremely high.
Zhongli Tang had been invited to this event, but she had declined. Later, Song Yuan didn’t bring it up again, so she wasn’t exactly sure when it was happening.
Looking at the link, Zhongli Tang suddenly remembered that Qin Wei was participating.
The footage wasn’t professionally color-graded and looked a bit blurry, but Qin Wei stood in the center of thousands, looking distantly into the camera. The lights hit her, making her dazzling. Even in simple attire, her presence was impossible to ignore.
[Is this person really an Omega?] [Senior is so beautiful, a perfect “High-Mountain Flower” (aloof and beautiful). Ahhh….I’m an Omega but I want to chase her too.] [Dream on. Many Alphas chased her back then, but she didn’t care for any of them. She’s always been a loner.] [The comment above makes it even more exciting.] [The key is she’s beautiful AND super talented. Something happened before school started, so pitiful. I thought she wouldn’t come back, sob.]
The comments floated across the screen incessantly. Zhongli Tang saw nothing else, her heart was struck by something she couldn’t calm down. She had only one thought, she wanted to see Qin Wei right now. Regardless of the method or the occasion, she didn’t care anymore, as long as she could see Qin Wei.
Zhongli Tang didn’t call for anyone else, she walked out of the company alone. Her mood was inexplicably urgent. Su He’s messages were still coming in.
[Su He: Holy crap, I just heard Xu Sui went there too. They didn’t run into each other, did they?!]
Damn it.
At the thought of that possibility, a flash of irritability crossed Zhongli Tang’s eyes, and she couldn’t help but swear under her breath.
