After Being Used As A Substitute By A Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 18
Sitting below were several school leaders she had rarely met, but to Qin Wei’s surprise, Qin Cinan and Chen Ya were also there.
What did they have to do with this?
Noticing her gaze, Qin Cinan raised her eyebrows provocatively, her eyes clearly screaming: What can you possibly do to me?
Qin Wei’s gaze swept past her indifferently. At this point, there was nothing she didn’t understand.
This was entirely targeted at her.
“Student Qin, I presume you are already clear on the specifics, so we won’t waste words. As for what means you used to obtain your competition eligibility, the school will not pursue that for the time being, that will be decided by the organizers later,” the elder leader at the head pointed toward Chen Ya in the back row. “What I want to ask is how you explain the plagiarism. If you cannot produce reasonable evidence, we will move forward with your expulsion.”
As soon as these words were spoken, there was no reaction from the room. This industry was absolute; no fraud was permitted. If the charges were proven and Qin Wei was branded with this crime, no laboratory would ever recruit her in the future. Her path would be completely severed.
Qin Wei gave a cold smile, undeterred. “But before that, I would like to ask, who did I supposedly plagiarize?” She paused, glancing at Qin Cinan sitting below. “It couldn’t possibly be you, could it?”
Even Qin Cinan could feel the contempt in Qin Wei’s eyes. How could she still be this calm at a time like this? Qin Cinan suddenly became incoherent with anger. “What are you saying? The person you plagiarized was obviously my father!”
Qin Wei didn’t look surprised, she had known what the other girl would say the moment she saw her.
“The forum poster said you lived in an orphanage since childhood and were only adopted by Professor Qin later, but were abandoned afterward. So, is this out of resentment?” a girl sitting next to Chen Ya in the second row spoke up rudely.
“That matter has little to do with the current situation,” Qin Wei’s tone shifted instantly, her sharp gaze piercing the girl.
The girl felt a twinge of fear, pursed her lips, and stopped talking.
“I have the full screenshots and the timeline, including the sources of all data. Just because the so-called ‘plagiarized’ party isn’t here, you claim it’s plagiarism and so it is?” Qin Wei ignored her, looking at everyone instead, her voice low yet impossible to ignore.
Qin Cinan was fuming, but the crux was that she couldn’t refute it. She had received a phone call saying Qin Wei was participating in a major competition and was likely to win first prize. The caller claimed to have investigated and naturally suspected Qin Wei of plagiarizing her own father, she only needed to go and testify, and there would be no problem.
“How about this? Since Miss Qin is so insistent, this matter is easy to handle. We’ll trouble you to re-run the remaining data. We will have professional personnel conduct a comparison, we certainly won’t wrong you.” Chen Ya forced a kind smile toward her.
He paused. “After all, you are an acquaintance of a friend of mine. I don’t want to make things look too ugly.”
Qin Wei stared at him for a moment, seemingly believing his words. “Fine.”
Below the table, out of everyone’s line of sight, she gripped her phone and tapped rapidly. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the contact in the chat box. Su He.
Good. The other party was the head of the Su Group and could run in the same circles as Zhongli Tang, her status was certainly high. She had also expressed interest in the project. She was the most likely person to come and help.
However, Qin Wei only had time to send the address, she couldn’t explain the situation in detail. She could only hope Su He would understand her meaning.
“For the sake of fairness, we naturally cannot arrange this in your laboratory. I have found a separate classroom for Miss Qin. Everyone, please move there.”
Qin Wei had no friends during her time at school, and her routine was always simple. She shouldn’t have had access to other classrooms. When she was ushered into the room by the crowd, she frowned instantly.
The room contained only a few desks and a single computer.
This wasn’t a simple test of proof; it was retaliation. Qin Wei had underestimated the opponent’s malice. She regretted it now, she should have called the police immediately but it was too late.
“By the way, to prove there is no cheating, we’ll have to ask Miss Qin to hand over her phone.”
They left Qin Wei there, even locking the door from the outside and turning off the lights, claiming it was to “create a quiet environment.”
Qin Wei didn’t even need to check to know the computer wasn’t connected to the internet. In fact, whether she plagiarized or not wasn’t important; as long as that doubt existed, others would predispose themselves to think she had a powerful backer who could settle even a plagiarism scandal. She had already missed the best window to clear her name.
The classroom was pitch black, and the computer was broken. In an overly silent environment, emotions can quickly become oppressive.
She thought of her childhood, being locked in a small dark room for refusing to obey, it was exactly like this. Her breathing quickened.
Time passed bit by bit. Qin Wei estimated an hour or two had gone by. She could only force herself to hold on, unable to show a shred of weakness, something she was skilled at. But the reality was her head began to spin and her heart rate accelerated. Was it low blood sugar? Or something else…
Qin Wei’s throat moved. She immediately thought of the worst-case scenario.
Her heat was coming early.
“Miss Qin, if it’s inconvenient for you right now, I can help you with part of the data. How about this, tell me the password to your laboratory?”
Chen Ya’s voice came from outside.
Qin Wei suddenly found it laughable. “I tell you, and then you decide to make this project yours and put it directly into a pharmaceutical factory?”
Chen Ya gritted his teeth. He had originally only intended to make Qin Wei look foolish, opening up a spot thinking she was just a plaything. He hadn’t expected the results she submitted to be so brilliant. Supporting Sister Xu Sui was one thing, but being able to directly seize a project was even better.
Regardless, she was just a student with no background. Zhongli Tang wouldn’t help her. Even if Tang saw through it, what could she do? Everything was up to his word.
“Don’t worry, according to the activity regulations, we will give you relevant compensation as your prize. In short, you won’t lose out.”
Qin Wei was unable to speak now. She couldn’t even hear clearly what he was saying. Following the physiological progression of an Omega, her pupils became blurred and lost focus, though her consciousness remained clear. She could feel her gland burning, an uncontrollable itch. The thin gland patch could not suppress the excited pheromones, they began to diffuse outward, searching for a suitable Alpha.
But she couldn’t. She couldn’t touch anyone else’s pheromones at all.
The scent of Ebony seemed to ignite rapidly, forming a great fire. The residual Ocean pheromones tried their best to wrap around and extinguish it, but it was futile.
Qin Wei desperately needed an Omega suppressant. She could endure the heat, but if it dragged on, she feared that once Zhongli Tang’s temporary mark faded and the allergic symptoms appeared, it would be over.
She dug her nails deep into her palms, drawing a few drops of crimson blood.
