After Being Used As A Substitute By A Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 14
Qin Wei hadn’t expected Zhongli Tang to return so quickly. In the middle of the night, she was kissed awake, nearly breathless, surrounded by ocean pheromones that gave her the illusion of drowning.
Zhongli Tang’s eyes appeared calm, but beneath the surface, a storm was brewing. Sensing something, despite her discomfort and stiffness, Qin Wei reached out to hug her, passively enduring her anger.
This marking was longer than any before. As an Alpha, Zhongli Tang’s sharp teeth firmly pierced Qin Wei’s gland, like a great predator claiming its prey. As the surging power of the ocean rolled in, the scent of ebony deepened from faint to intense, eventually carrying a hint of incense like something burning.
Qin Wei bit her lip, her mouth turning a vivid red, trying to keep herself from making a sound. However, whimpers escaped her throat involuntarily. Physiological tears traced paths from the corners of her eyes to the pillow. Her slender body trembled uncontrollably, due to their high compatibility, even though her mind struggled with the intrusion, waves of spiritual pleasure washed over her one after another.
Zhongli Tang’s movements were fierce. She gently brushed away the tear stains on Qin Wei’s face, her fingertips occasionally stroking Qin Wei’s thick eyelashes. Her expression was composed. “What, is it uncomfortable?”
“I don’t know,” Qin Wei said, her eyes brimming with tears. Too many pheromones had been left in her gland, making her head spin.
“Good student, I told you to behave before I left. You’ve actually learned how to hook up with others?”
As soon as Zhongli Tang stepped off the plane, she saw a pile of photos sent by Su He an hour ago. In them, Qin Wei was surrounded by people, her smile gentle and captivating. To an outsider, it looked like a normal gathering, but usually, Qin Wei would tell her everything in detail, even if Zhongli Tang never replied. What truly grated on her was that Qin Wei’s gaze toward others actually held a hint of deep affection.
“I didn’t,” Qin Wei said, her voice muffled as if she had suffered a great grievance.
Zhongli Tang didn’t comfort her. She raised a slender eyebrow and gave an indifferent “Oh.”
“I just asked a junior for help looking up some materials. I thought it wouldn’t be right to only invite her, so I invited everyone,” Qin Wei paused. “But they asked me if there was an Alpha I liked.”
Zhongli Tang had zero interest in the previous explanation. Her gaze landed on the bitten gland, where a faint bead of blood was visible. “What did you say?”
Qin Wei lowered her eyes. “I said I like people like Zhongli Tang.”
“Always saying such pretty words,” Zhongli Tang’s voice was raspy and sexy.
“It’s true, of course. They just didn’t believe me.”
Zhongli Tang’s warm breath fell on the tip of Qin Wei’s ear. She reached out and pinched it nonchalantly. “And what else?”
“What?”
Qin Wei slowly pulled the blanket away from her nose and turned her head to look at Zhongli Tang. Outside, the hazy moonlight made the room dim and enchanting. Zhongli Tang rested her chin on one hand, her features strikingly vivid. Her lazy curls spilled over her cheeks and shoulders. Her eyes held a deep meaning that Qin Wei couldn’t see through or understand.
“There’s nothing else?”
Zhongli Tang narrowed her eyes, deciding to give her little “stand-in” a chance to confess.
“What?”
Qin Wei felt the pressure on her ear increase. It hurt, but the pain was negligible compared to the sensation in her gland.
Zhongli Tang watched her quietly and spoke directly: “Who was that Alpha you met at the door?”
Qin Wei was visibly stunned for a moment.
“Fine, don’t stifle yourself.” Zhongli Tang pursed her lips with a somewhat helpless expression, reaching out to fish Qin Wei out from under the covers where she was trying to hide like a turtle.
Qin Wei’s gaze began to drift. Zhongli Tang pressed her chin, making it impossible for her to look away, almost forcing eye contact. “Weiwei? Look at me!”
“Sister, you’re being too mean,” Qin Wei said, softening her tone and blinking, though she didn’t seem truly afraid.
Zhongli Tang stared at her for a moment, and after confirming she wasn’t lying, she relaxed her grip. Her voice was coaxing, like an ancient incantation. “Alright, stop acting up. Tell me who she is. There’s a surprise if you tell the truth. Even if something happened that I don’t know about… as long as you confess, I won’t blame you. Besides, it’s no big deal for young people to make a few mistakes.”
In truth, she surprised herself after saying it. When had her temper become so good? If it were anyone else, she would have kicked them out long ago. Now, she had the patience to wait for Qin Wei’s explanation. Zhongli Tang quickly identified the reason, finding another substitute would be too much trouble, especially one with ebony pheromones and such an interesting personality.
“There is no relationship anymore,” Qin Wei said honestly.
“So you two…”
Because they had been in the shadows, the photos weren’t very clear, but Qin Wei’s expression was colder than Zhongli Tang had ever seen, bordering on disgust. Except for that one incident with the supervisor, Qin Wei was usually gentle and never said a harsh word. This was what had triggered Zhongli Tang’s vigilance.
Qin Wei’s gaze landed on a corner of the room, her voice devoid of emotion. “I used to live in an orphanage, and then I was adopted. A few years later, the mistress of that house gave birth to an Alpha. She’s technically my sister, spoiled by the whole family since she was a child. Later, a misunderstanding happened, and I was abandoned.”
The room fell silent for a while, their breathing almost intertwining. Qin Wei felt the ocean pheromones that were supposed to be surging in her gland suddenly turn calm. Under this soothing influence, the gland didn’t hurt as much. She rarely experienced this feeling, and her expression turned a bit surprised.
So this is what a real temporary marking feels like.
After a while, Zhongli Tang let go and began stroking Qin Wei’s hair. This experience was mentioned in the resume, but she hadn’t paid any attention to it at the time. Without today’s events, she wouldn’t have bothered to remember.
“Poor little thing, how did you end up like this?”
Recalling her past life, Qin Wei honestly didn’t feel much. It felt like a lifetime ago. She even took the initiative to kiss Zhongli Tang’s cheek. “It’s okay. Haven’t I met you now, Sister?”
Listening to those words full of trust, Zhongli Tang’s stroking motion paused for two seconds. She had clawed her way up, seen the elites and the monsters. Fortunately, she had a naturally good background, even if she didn’t want it, it was undeniable that it gave her a superior status and allowed her to avoid many detours.
Qin Wei had nothing. She only had herself.
“And what happened after?”
Qin Wei was visibly surprised, finding the question strange, but she spoke slowly and methodically. “It was okay. I was recommended for admission to Capital University in my sophomore year of high school. Back then, other than being poor and needing to work to pay tuition, there was nothing special.”
Zhongli Tang: “…”
Zhongli Tang was speechless. “Truly a good student.”
Qin Wei’s eyes flickered. “It got better after I got a scholarship.” She paused, her voice as light as a feather. “I got sick when my freshman year started. I thought I was finished then and considered changing majors, but I got better later…”
She stopped talking because she heard the steady heartbeat beside her.
Zhongli Tang had been traveling for hours and had now fallen asleep.
In the room, two vastly different pheromones blended remarkably well. A scent of burning ebony floated over the azure ocean, the mist was lingering, peaceful, and mysterious. The two fell asleep in each other’s arms.
In the morning, Qin Wei felt something scratching her. She pushed it away, and the annoying itch vanished, only to reappear. She pushed again, it vanished, and after four or five cycles, she finally couldn’t help but open her eyes, meeting a pair of dark pupils.
“Finally awake,” Zhongli Tang’s voice sounded from the bedside. She was already fully dressed.
For some reason, the pheromones this time had a sleep-inducing effect. Qin Wei slept a bit longer than usual, but she was instantly alert the moment she opened her eyes.
“Wha….What is this?!”
It was the first time Zhongli Tang had seen such a rich expression on Qin Wei’s face. A hint of amusement appeared in her eyes as she picked up the little creature she had purposefully placed on Qin Wei’s face and held it in her arms. “An Angora rabbit. I specifically asked my manager to buy it.”
Qin Wei frowned, looking at the grey, fluffy ball only half a meter away. She asked in confusion, “A rabbit? Why buy a rabbit?”
Business?
Zhongli Tang held the grey fluff, a faint smile on her face. If a camera were here, it would be a masterpiece. “Why so surprised? To raise it, of course. I said I’d give you a surprise.”
This was a suggestion she saw online. Among many animals, Zhongli Tang felt the rabbit was most like Qin Wei. When Song Yuan sent the photos, she immediately chose this one. She was supposed to give it after her business trip ended, but because of what happened yesterday, she decided to give it early.
The grey fluff had drooping ears and licked itself occasionally. It looked slow and adorable, definitely something a child would cry and beg their parents for.
“Don’t you like it? If you don’t like this one, we can buy another.”
Zhongli Tang sensitively sensed something wrong with Qin Wei’s mood but didn’t think too much of it.
Qin Wei only glanced at the rabbit before looking away. “I just think it might be too early to raise an animal. We’re so busy with work; what if we don’t take good care of it?”
She couldn’t afford to take responsibility for another life.
For some reason, Zhongli Tang felt relieved; she had thought Qin Wei simply disliked the gift. “This is easy to raise. Just feed and water it regularly. If we’re busy, I’ll have Mei Xiaowen come over.”
Qin Wei nodded.
“Give your surprise a name,” Zhongli Tang said.
The grey fluff groomed its fur.
“D79?” Qin Wei really couldn’t think of anything, her eyes blank.
“What kind of name is that?” Zhongli Tang was dissatisfied. She subconsciously stroked the rabbit, feeling it wasn’t even as soft as Qin Wei’s hair. “Let’s just call it Little Weiwei.”
Qin Wei had no objection.
Little Weiwei was placed in Qin Wei’s palm. The moment they touched, the rabbit lost its gentle demeanor. The grey fluff shook violently, and its two front teeth bared. However, because it was so cute, it didn’t look fierce, it looked like it wanted to attack Qin Wei, but it seemed more like it was terrified of her.
Qin Wei pursed her lips, her expression somewhat troubled. What would happen when she and Zhongli Tang eventually broke up? Given Zhongli Tang’s personality, she probably wouldn’t want it. Fine, if she didn’t want it, she would just take it to the laboratory.
The grey fluff’s fur was shivering.
