Chapter 36: Escape – Saved by Her Sister
After waking up, Xu Yinyu was exceptionally calm, maintaining this demeanor until after her mother’s funeral.
Yu Shujin’s strained nerves slowly relaxed. She tentatively brought Xu Yinyu back to the bridal suite she had meticulously arranged.
Xu Yinyu sat in the car with a silent, expressionless face, staring straight ahead, seemingly lost in her own world.
Just then, Yu Shujin’s phone rang. It was Xu Ruoying calling.
Yu Shujin answered, “Hello.”
Xu Ruoying glanced at Xu Lianyue, swallowed, and then asked, “How is Miss Xu’s condition?”
Yu Shujin felt inexplicably annoyed, her expression darkening. “What are you trying to say?”
“Don’t you think Miss Xu’s state at the funeral was too quiet?” Xu Ruoying said urgently.
“She was too sad, that’s all,” Yu Shujin replied dully. She then reached out and gripped Xu Yinyu’s hand.
Xu Yinyu’s palm temperature dropped suddenly, chilling her to the point of frowning.
“You can’t always let her remain in a state of sorrow and distress; it can easily make her physically ill,” Xu Ruoying tried her best to guide Yu Shujin’s pursuit strategy.
Yu Shujin grunted, “Hmm, thank you for reminding me.”
Xu Yinyu’s eyes trembled slightly. As if startled, she shrank further into the corner by the car window, her expression filled with fear.
“A-Yu, we’re home. Let’s get out,” Yu Shujin softened her voice.
“I’ll guide you.” She extended her hand toward Xu Yinyu.
Xu Yinyu tentatively reached out her hand. The moment it was grasped, she couldn’t help but struggle. “No, I don’t owe you anything anymore. Let go of me.”
Yu Shujin pulled Xu Yinyu out of the car in a embrace. “A-Yu, you are too tired. Let’s just sleep today. We can talk about everything tomorrow.”
Xu Yinyu trembled with anger, desperately struggling against Yu Shujin’s confinement. But with every struggle, Yu Shujin’s grip tightened.
“We are over, Yu Shujin. Let me go. I have nothing left. Your initial wish has been completely fulfilled,” Xu Yinyu said, giving up the struggle, exposing her heart to Yu Shujin with all its scars.
“No, it’s not over. We are not over,” Yu Shujin shook her head at Xu Yinyu.
“We held a wedding ceremony, witnessed by heaven and elders, secured by law and society. We will be happy, A-Yu. My wish has always been happiness with you. The past was my fault. I promise you I will never again do anything that disrespects your will.”
“Please, forgive me this one time, okay?”
Xu Yinyu’s eyes were red. She lacked the strength to argue anymore, unable to muster the slightest energy to debate with Yu Shujin. All her emotions and energy seemed to have been completely depleted at some unknown moment.
She hung her head, held captive in Yu Shujin’s arms, feeling the warmth of the other’s body. In that moment, only one thought remained in her heart: It turns out being loved by someone is such a painful thing.
After settling Xu Yinyu, Yu Shujin invited several top domestic psychologists to counsel her.
But the consensus was: her will to live was too weak, and she needed hospitalization for treatment.
Yu Shujin contacted Xu Ruoying, told her about Xu Yinyu’s condition, and asked for advice.
On the other end, Xu Ruoying was interrupted by the phone call before she could finish kissing Xu Lianyue.
“Hello!” Xu Ruoying’s tone contained the annoyance of being interrupted.
“A-Yu’s psychological report is out…” Yu Shujin said.
“Then hospitalize her. It’s hassle-free, and you two will be separated for a while. Maybe Miss Xu’s mood will improve, and all problems will naturally be solved, making everyone happy,” Xu Ruoying looked at Xu Lianyue’s wrinkled brow, her voice slowly softening.
Yu Shujin frowned. “But the hospital is crowded with people. I’m afraid A-Yu won’t be used to staying there, and I’m even more afraid of another accident.”
Xu Lianyue clearly heard Yu Shujin’s words and whispered, “What does she mean? She doesn’t want my sister to be treated?”
Xu Ruoying covered Xu Lianyue’s mouth, shaking her head and frowning. “Boss Yu naturally has more comprehensive considerations. If you don’t want hospitalization, why don’t you take her to travel around, see the scenery, and interact more with nature?”
“I understand,” Yu Shujin got the answer she wanted, ended the call, and then called Chi Xia. “Help me arrange travel itineraries during my free time. Book two flight tickets.”
Chi Xia looked at Yu Shujin’s fully booked schedule, frowning. “Boss Yu, your schedule is very tight recently. You have no free time.”
Yu Shujin was silent for a moment. “Help me see which one I can eliminate.”
Chi Xia finally removed the internal team meeting, clearing a morning slot for Yu Shujin next Monday.
“Boss Yu, should we set the travel destination in Sanya, where it’s quite warm?” Chi Xia asked.
“Good,” Yu Shujin thought that City A was indeed cold recently. Xu Yinyu was a person who extremely disliked winter. Perhaps she could buy a villa in Sanya to settle Xu Yinyu, so that she could see a warm Xu Yinyu after work.
Thinking of this, she regained her enthusiasm for work.
Xu Yinyu had been particularly cold recently, not just towards Yu Shujin, but showing a detached feeling toward everything.
In the second week, Yu Shujin contacted Xu Yinyu’s former team leader, specifically inviting Xu Yinyu to return to work.
But when Xu Yinyu heard Yang Qingyu’s voice, her eyes suddenly widened. She violently pushed Yu Shujin away, and the phone flew out of Yu Shujin’s hand with a ‘bang,’ hitting the floor.
Xu Yinyu tightly hugged her pillow, shaking her head, tears streaming from her eyes uncontrollably.
Yu Shujin didn’t understand which emotional thread this phone call had triggered in Xu Yinyu.
A sentence from Xu Yinyu’s previous argument suddenly flashed in her mind.
Bullying?!!
Xu Yinyu worked diligently every day. Yu Shujin thought Xu Yinyu was able to continue because she found pleasure in her work.
She hadn’t expected that Xu Yinyu was relying completely on the busy work to dilute the emotional pressure from all aspects.
Yu Shujin held her forehead, thinking self-mockingly, What have I done?
She picked up the phone, ended the call, and walked toward Xu Yinyu.
“A-Yu, I’m here. No one will dare to bully you again. Don’t be afraid,” Yu Shujin wiped the tears from Xu Yinyu’s cheeks and squeezed her icy hand. “Don’t be afraid.”
When Xu Yinyu was conscious, she strongly rejected getting close to Yu Shujin.
When she was disoriented, she rejected everyone’s proximity.
Yu Shujin’s plan to take her to Sanya was interrupted by Xu Yinyu’s worsening condition.
Xu Yinyu was admitted to Yu Shujin’s private hospital.
“Don’t worry too much. The country’s top psychiatrists are all here. Relax,” Xu Ruoying patted Yu Shujin’s shoulder.
Yu Shujin looked at Xu Ruoying with a very poor expression. A bad premonition arose in her heart.
But she could no longer change the destined course of events.
She could only be swept along by unknown fate toward the already determined ending.
The benefits of hospitalization gradually became apparent. Xu Yinyu’s conscious time grew longer. Every time Yu Shujin visited, she was met with a cold shoulder.
Yu Shujin casually placed a peeled apple in Xu Yinyu’s hand.
Xu Yinyu didn’t like apples at all. She put the apple on a porcelain plate, picked up her water glass, and took a sip. “Are you very free lately?”
“Not too bad. I can still make time to see you,” Yu Shujin put down the peeler.
“Oh,” Xu Yinyu responded coldly. “You can calculate how much medical expenses my mother and I cost you. After I recover, I will earn money to pay you back.”
Yu Shujin’s face was completely pale. “Do you have to calculate things like this?”
“I dare not not calculate clearly,” Xu Yinyu met Yu Shujin’s eyes without any timidity.
What was she afraid of? She was the debtor.
The world is big, but the debtor is the biggest.
“What are you saying? We are already in a loving relationship; our assets are shared,” Yu Shujin was speechless with anger. “Who demands debt from their lover?”
Xu Yinyu completely disbelieved Yu Shujin’s words.
All premises were contingent on Yu Shujin’s will. With one word of “I don’t love you,” everything she had would turn into a fleeting shadow.
But she didn’t speak further, quietly making her calculations.
“A-Yu, let’s get through this difficulty together, and we will be happy in the future,” Yu Shujin’s eyes were full of anticipation for future happiness.
Xu Yinyu turned sideways, turning her back to Yu Shujin.
Yu Shujin sat in silence for a while. When her phone rang, she stood up and left.
Xu Yinyu’s dim expression suddenly became puzzled.
A familiar sound came from the window, like Xu Lianyue’s voice.
Xu Yinyu got out of bed, glanced at the door, closed it, and walked to the window. She saw Xu Lianyue zip past her on a wire harness, then zip back.
Xu Lianyue frantically gestured for Xu Yinyu to open the window.
Xu Yinyu laboriously pushed the window open and helped Xu Lianyue in. “Why are you doing something so dangerous?”
“No time for nonsense, take off your clothes, quickly,” Xu Lianyue panted, removing her harness along with her jacket, and put them on Xu Yinyu.
“Xu Ruoying found outside help downstairs. They will catch you. Don’t be afraid, Sis,” Xu Lianyue planned for Xu Yinyu patiently for the first time.
Xu Yinyu hadn’t fully processed it when Xu Lianyue pushed her out. Her body suddenly lost balance.
Xu Yinyu safely landed downstairs. She saw Xu Lianyue, wearing the blue and white hospital gown, waving at her. Before she could properly stand, a short-haired girl led her into a sedan.
Xu Yinyu hesitated for a moment but got into the car.
Xu Yinyu nervously pursed her lips, her chest rising and falling violently.
When she closed her eyes, all she could see was Yu Shujin’s furious look when she discovered her absence.
She was afraid that if she left Xu Lianyue behind, Yu Shujin would transfer her resentment onto her sister.
Xu Yinyu’s emotions suddenly flared. “Stop the car, I’m not going. I want to go back.”
The driver completely ignored her. The short-haired girl sitting next to her saw her emotional distress and immediately covered her mouth to restrain her.
“Don’t panic, Miss Xu. We are here to save you, not harm you.”
Xu Yinyu frantically shook her head. “She will take revenge on Xu Lianyue.”
“Don’t worry. Our boss will protect Xu Lianyue,” the short-haired girl replied.
“Bang!”
A violent rear-end collision occurred behind the car. The short-haired girl instantly became alert and sharply gave an order. “Brother Yu, accelerate and drive forward. Ignore these obstacles.”
The sound of the collision struck Xu Yinyu’s chest. She looked back and saw that the colliding car was the Faraday that Yu Shujin usually drove.
Xu Yinyu’s face changed again and again. Her consciousness suddenly became blurred, and her vision plunged into darkness.
